This week I got a chance to take a quick look at two fantastic products from Bushnell. How am I already so excited in the pants for these products, when I have had them less than a week? Easy. These aren’t completely new. They are updated models of two products I have actually been running for years. Bushnell has really come up in the world with the Elite Tactical line, and they represent arguably the best buy in optics today.

Father’s Day is that time of year that Gun Guy dads are plagued by the confused looks of kids and wives after answering the question, “What would you like for Father’s Day?” These are then followed by a bevy of questions: “What is that? Where can I get that?” and the dreaded, “How much do those cost?”

Earlier this month, I took part in a prairie dog hunt in Utah with Sauer Rifles and Minox optics. In addition to controlling the prairie dog population, Coda Hunts, an outfitter based in Highland, Utah, took us in small groups to hunt coyotes.

Once in a great while, a product comes along that is so good that it is actually hard to review. The new SIG KILO 2400ABS is one such device. I could close, right now, just by saying: “It’s perfect” and walk away leaving nothing on the table.

Earlier this year I noticed a Facebook ad for American Technology Network’s (ATN) new X-Sight II HD digital rifle scope. As firearm-related ads are wont to do, it called my name until I finally decided to check it out.

From the perspective of a soldier, there are not that many things that are actually always with you in the field. Boots, rifle, and rucksack are the obvious top three. Bipods are probably the most underutilized piece of helpful shooting gear, a tool that should be in your toolbox. But like all tools, you need to pick the appropriate one for the job. Normal size bipods, 6 to 10 inches, cover a lot of gaps. But sometimes, you are forced into a less than ideal shooting position, and for that you need something else.
