Mossberg Tactical Tri-Rail System & Chainsaw Entry Gun

O.F. Mossberg & Sons https://www.mossberg.com/ I would argue that the Mossberg 500 Series platform is the best pump shotgun on the planet. I have used and shot them so much over the years that I can operate the gun in my sleep, and have had them in no less than six varieties. Until now the [...]

Black Aces Tactical Remington 870 Shotgun Rail

Black Aces Tactical Remington 870 Shotgun Rail

You can only buy so many guns (well, not really), so lately we’ve been looking into things that make the guns you already own more effective, and also look much cooler. I ran into this rail system from Black Aces Tactical while researching another article, and I have to say, the Black Aces Tactical shotgun rail is the best in its class that I have found for this application. If you own a tactical shotgun and have always wanted to have the ability to install lights, lasers, red dots, real sights, whatever, at a mere 16 ounces and currently on sale for $179, the Black Aces shotgun rail system is something you should look into. It is available for the Remington 870/1100, Mossberg 500/590, Benelli M1/2/4, and even the Saiga.

ATI Gunstocks Benelli M4 System + VEPR & Mossberg Sidesaddles - SHOT Show 2013

ATI Gunstocks Benelli M4 System + VEPR & Mossberg Sidesaddles – SHOT Show 2013

In the midst of the gun grabber legislative chaos, ATI Gunstocks had some pretty neat stuff for this year’s SHOT Show 2103. Their big new product is set to ship in April and they are taking pre-orders now. It is a complete replacement stock system for the Benelli M4 called the Raven. Like all ATI stocks, it is modular and you can buy one piece or the whole system. All ATI stocks are what is known as “992R” compliant as well. On foreign made high capacity weapons, you must have at least 5 parts that are made in the USA if you want to use a pistol grip, and they have to be one of a core list of parts on the gun. For the Benelli, there are 14 parts, and ATI makes the five that you need for compliance. The kit retails for $374 on their website (again, currently in pre-order). The extra part you see here in the pictures is that front rail system, which they call the “magazine tube shroud,” and that isn’t available yet on the website.

Redring - The Illuminated Shotgun Sight That Mounts On Your Rib - Range Report

Redring – The Illuminated Shotgun Sight That Mounts On Your Rib – Range Report

With some things, once you try it you can never go back. That is the case with the Redring, a unique illuminated sight for shotgun sports. It doesn’t fit a Picatinny rail. The Redring is for shotguns that have what is called a “vent rib” on the top. You probably have one on your duck gun, but you never thought to yourself that a red dot type sight would be useful. Shotguns, as a rule, are pointed, not aimed, so nearly all shotguns meant to shoot actual shot loads have nothing more than a plain brass BB on the end, because that should be enough to get you on target. The BB works great, and historically served sportsman well over the generations, but it might just be time to move on. The Redring isn’t a dot, it is a dashed circle, and the circle represents your shot pattern edges at roughly 20 meters. We found the Redring a pleasure to shoot, and it solves a lot of problems that can get you into trouble in the field. At an MSRP of $899, currently discounted from Redring for $749, this is definitely a luxury toy to enhance your shooting, but if you can afford it, the Redring is something you won’t want to shoot without after you give it a try.

So, Trulock just came out with a new tactical choke and it got me thinking whether or not I should invest in one.

Build an 11 Shot Mossberg 500 - Detachable Mags, No Gunsmith Required!

Build an 11 Shot Mossberg 500 – Detachable Mags, No Gunsmith Required!

I have come to realize that some products are worth figuring out. That was the case on my newest trunk gun project, adding an Adaptive Tactical Sidewinder Venom kit to one of my Mossberg 500 shotguns. The kit did not go on easy, which I’ll explain, and I even had to send my gun into the company. But it turned out that the issue was my misunderstanding of the directions, and a miscue of information on the phone. If you have considered buying a KSG, or some other high cap shotgun, yet you have an otherwise unused Mossberg 500 in the safe, I would seriously consider this kit, which starts at $199 and goes to fully decked out at $399. My review is of the base model with a standard forend, but as you’ll see on the company website, there is now a version with an optics rail forend, as well as some current camo pattern options. The Adaptive Tactical Venom Sidewinder is a detachable magazine kit for the Mossberg 500/Maverick 88 shotguns, with the 6 round mag tube. And after some unnecessary trepidation on my part, it works marvelously.

DIY Bullpup Kit for Mossberg 500 & Remington 870

DIY Bullpup Kit for Mossberg 500 & Remington 870

The Bullpup Unlimited kit for the Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 isn’t beautiful, but it works. This kit takes a normal pump shotgun and shortens it significantly, without any extra paperwork. Turn the old work horse into a compact fighting gun.

If I removed everything else for reliability or weight reasons, the Aimpoint Micro H-2 is the one component that would stay. It great for slugs but surprisingly useful for buckshot as well.

Gear Bag – Tactical Shotgun Accessories

Shotguns eat faster than Rosie O’Donnell and Michael Moore in the finals of a Krispy Kreme donut eating contest. Due to the size and weight of shotgun ammo, in-gun capacity ain’t all that great to start with.
