2 - GEN 1 Mohawk Counterweight (Primary Arms)

GEN 1 Mohawk Counterweight

Among the worst of problems when you start out in Night Vision Equipment is becoming accustomed to the oddity of wearing a helmet with what is essentially a heavy unicorn horn hanging off the front. It is in no way natural to have something heavy on your head to start with, and pulling one direction makes it worse. It takes time for the muscles in your neck to adapt, and it can be a painful experience.

2 - Surefire Rechargeable CR123

Surefire Rechargeable CR123

The problem with cheap batteries is that they may leak, they may corrode quickly, or they may have incorrect power regulation. None of which are a good idea in your $1500 laser, or $500 tactical light. Saving a couple of bucks on a battery is a terrible plan if it may destroy the internals of an irreplaceable electronic device.

Parasec Sights: Gunfighter & Brain Doctor Endorsed

Parasec Sights are absolutely fantastic and are set to take the industry by storm. They simplify the learning curve of aiming, are amazing for aging eyes, and are tough as a coffin nail. They are going on all my Glock’s now that they are available, and all my other guns as they become available. And that is the strongest endorsement I can give.

2 - Minimalist Assault Chest Rig (has video)

Gadsden Dynamics Minimalist Assault Chest Rig

This week we got our hands on one of the simplest and most elegant pieces of gear I have ever seen. So simple, in fact, that this review will probably be short on words. This week we got our hands on one of the simplest and most elegant pieces of gear I have ever seen. So simple, in fact, that this review will probably be short on words. Which in this case is a feature, not a bug. It’s right there in the name, the Minimalist.

Radian Talon 45 degree Safety

This week you get to see me eat a little bit of crow as I finally come around from being a dinosaur to embracing the new hotness. Well, maybe not the newest hotness. But I am finally going to admit that something we started to see about 10 years ago is an improvement over the default AR-15 design.

Spyderco ROC

Spyderco ROC

When it comes to guns and knives, I am generally the practical guy. I write about P320’s and FNH 509s and concealable blades that punch above their weight. We have other people that write about antique machine guns and gadgets, and rarely shall they cross. But I do sometimes get taken in by the cool, even if it is far from the best design.

Tract Optics - New Contender for the Mid-Price Crown?

Tract Optics – New Contender for the Mid-Price Crown?

The rifle optics game has been changing a lot as of late, one might even say turning on its head.

H&K VP9B - From Oberndorf with love?

H&K VP9B – From Oberndorf with love?

Everything the American market demands, with the legendary reliability of H&K? Yes please, I’ll take it for a spin. And I’m very glad I did.

XYLO Chassis - Bolt Action Magic

XYLO Chassis – Bolt Action Magic

This “steampunk cowboy bolt action” chassis doesn’t look how I expected it, but the moment I put my hands on it, I absolutely knew I had to have one.

BFG Helium Whisper - Lightweight Pouch Tech

BFG Helium Whisper – Lightweight Pouch Tech

I was first introduced to Blue Force Gear’s Helium Whisper technology earlier this year, and came away very impressed. Helium Whisper is a new laser cut space ninja type fabric that weighs, as the name implies, nothing. Picking it up, you would think it might be fragile. On that count, you would be wrong. Despite feeling like nothing, as well as being very thin, you can’t tear it.
