CCRKBA: ‘New York Subway Slashings Underscore Need for CCW Reform’

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Current Events News Wire This Week

BELLEVUE, WA – Friday’s slashing spree in the New York City subway underscores the need for immediate reform of city and state concealed carry laws so that honest citizens have the ability to fight back and defend themselves against such viciousness, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“We know at least three people were violently attacked by several people,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Fortunately, nobody was killed, but this is a symptom of a larger problem in New York City, which is the perpetuation of a system that is designed to prevent average citizens from being able to resist such brutality.”

Reports say police have rounded up some suspects, but there are few details. But Gottlieb suggested such attacks wouldn’t happen if dangerous thugs weren’t confident they would meet no resistance from their victims.

“The mere thought that somebody might be able to fight back with a legally-carried firearm can have a serious deterrent effect,” Gottlieb said. “Attacking and slashing people at random is barbaric, but under Mayor Bill de Blasio’s anti-gun regime, felony assaults have reportedly gone up 25 percent over last year.

“New Yorkers should not be living in fear of such crime,” he observed. “It’s not enough for the mayor or some police official promise things will get better with more officers assigned to provide security. People who do this sort of thing don’t do it when there’s a cop standing nearby, but only when they think nobody is there to stop them.

“When something like this happens, only an armed citizen can immediately and effectively fight back,” Gottlieb stated. “In New York City, thanks to antiquated, ridiculously restrictive gun laws, that’s not an option. Common sense dictates the necessity for a dramatic change of policy. New York must reform its carry laws and streamline the process for getting a carry license. No law-abiding citizen should be expected to jump through all the bureaucratic hoops now in place, or endure the costs associated with getting a carry permit in the Big Apple. This sort of crime should never happen anywhere, especially in a country where the right to keep and bear arms is supposed to be sacrosanct.”

I miss Charles Bronson and instead we have Bloomberg types. When Robert Conrad died I wondered what kept Soros going. Of course none of that is up to me but I still wonder.

I love the wise old Indian sayings. This one in particular by Sitting Bull :

“WHEN THE GOVERNMENT SAYS YOU DON’T NEED A GUN…YOU NEED A GUN.”

I remember in the early 80s when a group of citizens called the Guardian Angels would roam around Zoo York to deter crime. They had red clothing and red berets. It was great until one of them was killed around 1984. Their popularity weaned and everyone forgot about them. The people on the street that spoke at the beginning of this video demonstrates how disconnected they are from reality. They seem to think that simply avoiding suspicious people is enough to keep them safe. Another foolishly says to call the police. That is so trite and shows lack of critical thinking.

The Left loves victims because they become the poster people for more control. Instead of wanting to punish the perpetrator, the Left wants to take away your right to defend yourself and make you more dependent on the state to protect you. Just remember: When the rest of your life can be measured in seconds, the cops are only minutes away.

Sometime in the near future, a CCW permit holder will teach this criminal that “one should never bring a knife to a gunfight..”

The Missus wants to go to NYC. So far I have avoided the trip.

I won’t go until I can legally fly my firearm into and out of the NYC area. I’d be willing to take my chances carrying a weapon in order to defend myself and my wife.

Wow. Welcome to NYC, just keep making it easier for criminals

For years New York’s gun laws have been the perfect example of what not to do. Why do New Yorkers keep re-electing those who constantly rob citizens of their right to personal protection?

Politicians in New York are aiding and abetting the criminals by not allowing their law-abiding citizens to protect themselves. Permitting citizens to fight back is the only real solution, everything before has failed miserably. Why do New York’s lawmakers ignore the obvious?

These people keep getting elected because of the powerful and the rich who live in secured buildings, safe neighborhoods. The people who hasn’t stepped foot on a subway because its beneath them, literally. The common folks are nothing more than fodder for the rich and elite to point and make examples of while not in fear for their own safety.

How many readers will recall Bernie Goetz, the Subway Vigilante (labeled by the press)? He shot 4 who attempted to rob him on the subway because they saw him as “easy bait”. He was carrying a handgun because he was mugged a few years earlier and injured. Multiple trials occurred, found civilly liable and he was labeled a racist. It’s an interesting story. In my opinion one had better be prepared for intense public scrutiny in those instances. It seems the perps have more “rights” than the victim!

Since “They” have changed the definition of “mass attack” from a minimum of four people / victims to a minimum of three victims, we need to change the wording to “Mass stabbings on NY subway……..”.

Where is the knife control crowd screeching, “ban all the knives, ban all the knives!………..” These people that want to control everything need to just leave, go seek life elsewhere. Venezuela, Canada, anywhere but the USA.

Everyone has the right to defend and protect their families and those in harm way. IF we get a little smarter, we work towards educating, instructing and guiding people to use a fire arm for those purposes we would have allot less criminal activity. NY has hard line gun policy and the one of the most gun violence in the nation. They need reform, they need SYG law and most of all need to be accompanied by EDUCATION. A SIMPLE TRAINING WOULD NOT DO. IF YOU CAN WALK AWAY DO SO, BUT IF YOU CAN NOT THEN USE YOUR RIGHT. BE AWARE YOU WILL NEED TO PROVE YOUR ACTIONS OR GO TO PRISON. SO you see education and Training are the most valuable tools in deterring and controlling gun violence. Certainly NOT taking peoples right to protect themselves. We do NOT have enough law enforcement officers to do that.

Instead of making “NBA fries and burger commercials” the Failed mayor of NYC should consult members of Law Enforcement agencies as to how to keep People that live in and those who visit New York Safe!!!!

  • SuperG May 18, 2021, 10:32 am

Mark N. could be right, but since the right to self-defense is denied them, we’ll never really know if they could have defended themselves. Everybody is just a victim-in-waiting who live in NYC and California metro areas.

  • Mark N. May 18, 2021, 12:55 am

In some ways Gottlieb is right, in others wrong. Without any details on the slashings, we have to assume that these were “ambush” attacks on unaware victims who thus had no realistic time in which to defend. For example, an attack from behind in a noisy subway, when the victim is in “condition fog” because of the numerous people and the noise covering the approach of the assailant, there is no warning and certainly not a 1 to 2 second time in which to recognize and react to the threat. Only witnesses, if armed, could respond after the attack to detain the assailant.
