Trump Assassination Attempt Proves Gun Control Doesn’t Work!

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

BELLEVUE, WA – The arrest of a man in connection with an alleged assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump in Florida has elicited calls from several sources for more gun control, but the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms says the incident actually provides more evidence that gun control laws simply don’t work.

The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Various published reports say he has “an extensive criminal record” with more than 100 criminal counts filed against him when he lived in North Carolina, and he has a felony conviction for possession of stolen property. He is also known to have made political donations to Democrat campaigns.

“What this case shows is that someone with evil intentions will find a way to get his hands on a firearm,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Reports that the serial number of the rifle recovered by police had been filed off indicate the suspect knew what he was doing.

“We know from various reports this man appears to have violated several existing gun control laws,” he added.

“Just as important,” Gottlieb continued, “is that this case also reinforces the notion that our criminal justice system, rather than the country’s gun control laws, is what needs to be reformed. With this guy’s reported criminal history, he should not have had a firearm. But guess what? Gun laws have never stopped someone determined to commit mayhem.”

Gottlieb is pleased that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has promised an investigation by authorities in the Sunshine State, which could yield more valuable information about the suspect, and how he was able to get so close to the former president.

“This sort of thing should never happen even once,” Gottlieb observed. “But now it has happened to Donald Trump twice.

So if I use weed killer on my lawn and still get weeds, then that means that weed killer doesn’t work and isn’t worth using?
Of course not, but it’s the same flawed reasoning.

    • Miss me with that September 20, 2024, 12:40 pm

No, the argument is that you don’t get to tell me how to take care of my lawn.
Your side promised the weed killer of Gun Control would keep us safe, but it can’t even protect someone as high profile as the former President.
Want some flawed reasoning? Believing that outlawing guns will stop criminals from breaking laws, and using guns to do it.

IMO, this is NOT a good example of failing gun control. This is an illegal weapon, and also illegally possessed. It is a better example of showing that “gun control” will never prevent this situation…unless…ALL PRIVATELY-OWNED GUNS ARE REMOVED FROM SOCIETY, and I surely do not want that to be the result of this shooting.

If you connect the dots for gun control fanatics, they lead to the conclusion that “gun control” MUST result in the removal of all guns from society. THAT is the end game for many gun control advocates.

Don’t blame gun control laws for this shooting. To do so, logically leads to removal of all gun from society.

It is not about gun control. It is totally about “people” control. Half the country is not smart enough or cares enough to figure that out.

“Only consequential presidents get shot at”. I can see that, as a partial joke, but it dosent explain two attempts on pres Ford…
Meanwhile, the left keeps trying to get you to forget anything/everything about these unpleasantnesses, including blaming trump for setting them up to make the secret service, and v.p. que mala eres, look bad.
On youtoob one can find a clip of people getting off the harris bus (one of many used to pad/pack her rally) and one of them looks A LOT like the golfcourse shooter. Yet another has a blackhawk clip showing him, as well as the looney in butler, and claims this proves they were both financed by the cia. But, consuder the source, as the line goes.
