CDC Director Unveils Plan to 'Do Something' About 'Gun Violence'
Wallensky wants to “restart” the research into gun-related violence.

Hot off her stunningly competent performance handling the COVID-19 pandemic, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) director Rochelle Walensky is ready to tackle another “epidemic” in our country: “gun violence.”

Walensky revealed her new plan in an exclusive CNN interview last week.

“Every day we turn on the news, and there are more young people dying,” Walensky told the outlet. “I swore to the president and to this country that I would protect your health. This is clearly one of those moments, one of those issues, that’s harming America’s health.”

“Something has to be done about this,” she added.

She plans to “restart the research” that had supposedly been banned by the National Rifle Association and previous Republican administrations.

“My job is to understand and evaluate the problem. To understand the scope of the problem. To understand why this happens and what are the things that can make it better,” she said, offering no additional detail.

The claim that the federal government is not allowed to research gun-related violence is misleading. In 1996, after the CDC began funding studies that recommended increased gun control, Congress prohibited the agency from using taxpayer funds that “advocate or promote gun control.” The CDC has always been free to fund research into gun-related violence, but they haven’t chosen to do so until recently.

Despite her reiteration of this misleading claim, Walensky hopes gun owners will be open to working with her on this issue.

“Let’s agree that we don’t want people to die. Let’s just agree there. What can we do to stop people from dying?” she said.

“Generally, the word ‘gun’ for those who are concerned about research in this area, is followed by the word ‘control,’ and that’s not what I want to do here. I’m not here about gun control. I’m here about preventing gun violence and gun death,” she continued.

She encouraged gun owners to “be a part of the solution” and “join us in the conservation.” “Tell me about what you do to make your gun safe, and then tell everybody else,” she said.

Walensky is late to the party. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has for decades promoted safe gun storage through its Project Childsafe. The NSSF has distributed over 38 million gun locks, and the organization offers resources and materials for gun owners who want to store and use their firearms safely.

Their latest campaign, for example, gives parents a guide for understanding their teens’ mental health and urges them to keep their guns locked up.

    Here is some statistics:
1-According to a recent Johns Hopkins study claims more than 250,000 people in the U.S. die every year from medical errors. Other reports claim the numbers to be as high as 440,000.
2-An alert by the US DEA saying that overdose deaths was more than 93,000 deaths in 2020, these deaths were caused by fake pharmaceuticals/prescription. check the article here,
    https://www.usait.org/uncategorized/new-dea-alert-latest-reminder-that-cybercrime-can-kill/
3-While the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported an estimate of 38,680 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2020, which is an increase of 7.2% from 2019.
4-No cancer deaths’ were reported in 2020 as they were mixing all deaths with Covid10 deaths. But In 2019, the official death estimates, 2,854,838 Americans died from cancer.
I am sure the CDC has seen the numbers. So can the CDC tell us the total of gun deaths in the US and why they think it is a disease? And why aren’t they work on the the large causes of deaths first especially cancer of fake drugs.

Defund cdc and that’s one disease cured.
I guess if you can’t do the job your given competently you go find something else to be incompetent at.like this mcdonalds reject

  • GHH September 5, 2021, 12:51 pm

It is the typical Leftist approach, which is to scoff at opposing views, lie about the statements, policies, issues, etc. of their “enemies”, and then offer a politicized, left-leaning and extremist “solution”.
“The CDC has always been free to fund research into gun-related violence, but they haven’t chosen to do so until recently.” This statement says a lot in that it is based on fact, not conjecture, and Facts are the “Conservative Way”.

  • kent September 4, 2021, 1:52 pm

These arrogant elitist jackasses are called the Center for Disease Control, which they are apparently completely incapable of doing, so they would rather tell us how to discipline our children and attack our right to bear arms. We give them 800 million dollars a year for this crap. They are worse than worthless. We should defund them immediately. Imagine a fed agency so incompetent that they failed to realize before hand that the contact tracing for this covid pandemic would require people that speak the 360 different official languages spoken in America to do that. Yes, they really prepared themselves to do their job, didn’t they? They are slimey incompetent trash. Defund them!

  • chinchbug September 4, 2021, 1:04 pm

Since the “CDC” can’t seem to do S#IT about controlling diseases, they might as well get fired up about something way out of their lane.

  • Matt September 4, 2021, 10:53 am

What does a virologist know about “gun violence?” She has shown that she is just another puppet of the Leftist agenda.

  • Ian moone September 3, 2021, 3:55 pm

Not to worry we just need to flatten the curve. I have masked my gun and will make sure it maintains 6ft from other guns outside of my own. I will be sure to keep them clean too that should do it.

Also I think it helps to maintain a proper diet of ammo and training.

CDC and AFT have lost what little credibility they had nothing more than paper tigers.

I will give them credit though they have done a great job of uniting people around the phrase”I will not comply”.

  • gre September 3, 2021, 1:01 pm

Let me help you doctor. I have done an exhaustive study already. There is no such thing as “gun violence”. I have extensively observed firearms from hiding while they were placed on a table. They were unaware of my presence and therefore free to act. Astoundingly, they did not move. Even though they were free to commit violence, none ensued. I have therefore determined unquestionably, that they are incapable of commiting anything, let alone violence. Mental health issues and criminal activity are responsible. Until it is recognized that there is no such thing as “gun violence”, you will fail to have any effect other than infringing on the rights of the law-abiding, and wasting a lot of time and money.

Did Jordan Michaels really intend to characterize the CDC’s performance in the COVID crisis as “competent”, or did he leave off the prefix “in”? All the inconsistencies and lies they have spread in order to control an entire population is shameful. Vaccines that aren’t really vaccines and haven’t been tested or approved… Mask mandates that won’t even protect anyone from flatulence… The arbitrary six-foot rule that makes no sense when a sneeze or cough travels 15-20 feet… And they still have no idea what they are doing.

      Sarcasm

  • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 10:44 am

We need to bring Dr. Falsie in on this. He’ll do for a gun-violence study what he did for his Covid mandates.

  • Viet Vet September 3, 2021, 10:30 am

When she begins the conversation with a big lie, it pretty much goes downhill from there.

The left have been coddling criminals forever. The ‘revolving-door (in)justice system is their doing. As the (black) Chief of Police in Chicago said recently: the problem is not prosecuting criminals, letting them back on the street and no-bail laws. The problem is judges and attorneys. Almost 100% of the time when a criminal is apprehended they have a criminal record as long as their arm.

While the left coddles criminals they only go after law-abiding gun owners. Is it because the majority of criminals are democommies and the majority of law-abiding gun owners are republicans??

    • etph September 3, 2021, 12:51 pm

100% correct. The city officials in the L.A. area actually proposed and perhaps passed a bill that reduces the sentences of leftist darlings (city hoodlums) who were prosecuted for crimes involving guns. The message is pretty clear here. Hoodlums are victims of “gun violence”. The poor darlings need sympathy and freedom…freedom to continue their crimes but hopefully without using guns.

    Dear Dr. Walensky,

Want to stop 99%+ of gun violence?… Rid society of violent criminals.

ps– Since you’re so concerned with “people dying,” you might want to address the outright murder of babies via abortion, that as a Leftist, you support unequivocally.

    Sincerely,
    A Gun Owner

  • Griffendad September 3, 2021, 8:44 am

The epidemic of the “gun” harming our health seems to be targeting blacks since the overwhelming side effect seems to be the urge to kill others of the same race.

    • Viet Vet September 3, 2021, 10:38 am

Indeed. Blacks kill each other over 5000 times each year. When you break down the numbers of people killed each year by misuse of guns that becomes a significant number. For example: over 60% of gun deaths each year are suicide. Another 15% are justifiable homicide by law enforcement and citizens. And around 3% are accidental. That whittles that 25,000 number down considerably, to the point where that 5000 sticks out like a sore thumb.

  • James Morrison September 3, 2021, 8:40 am

Great idea. Find out where the crimes occur, inner cities, and who perpetrates them, gang members. Then arrest and deport the illegal alien gang members , MS13 etc., and incarcerate the rest. Boom (pun intended) no more crime!

Wanna bet the “research” has nothing to do with this?

    • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 9:56 am

“Wanna bet the “research” has nothing to do with this?”

Exactly. Here’s what their taxpayer-funded “study” would conclude:

      1) gun violence involves the use of guns
      2) the majority of guns are in the hands of legal gun owners
      3) if legally-owned guns are eliminated, there cannot be any gun violence
      4) we must therefor confiscate all presently existing firearms that are owned and ban all future sales
      5) this conclusive “study” is being distributed to all Progressive-Socialists in Congress as the basis for action

    • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 10:03 am

Naw, can’t happen. You see, the school day schedule is too full teaching 1st-graders that Timmy has two daddies, and that if you’re a boy, you’re not Really a boy; same for girls. Also, that the country you live in, the USA, is an evil, racist country that needs to be destroyed. So, forget that idea.

  • Tarheel September 3, 2021, 7:28 am

I can not solve the problem but I can tell her where to begin her research. People of low intelligence first reaction is usually one of violence. Many of these people are found in the ghettos that democrats built and maintain. This is the elephant in the room that gun grabbers fail to see. Now the control freaks embrace this violence as it gives them a platform to stand on while railing against guns as if it is a wide spread problem, when we can all see where it is taking place.

  • Joe Thomas September 3, 2021, 7:01 am

    • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 10:09 am

  • Bobby September 3, 2021, 6:57 am

It’s not gun violence the problem is judicial system. There is no harsh punishment for mass killings, killing of police officers an homicides fix judicial system penalty the courts give out it will send a message to criminals

    • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 10:18 am

Not a whacko. You don’t understand her reasoning. First, understand she is a Leftist, aka, Progressive-Socialist.
Second, understand that after the Covid funding fades away, the CDC will need another “urgent” cause to squeeze massive funding from the federal govt.(i.e., taxpayers). She also likely knows nothing about firearms, or the many shooting sports out there = total ignorance.

Stupid people in positions of power presents the greatest danger.

Rochelle has a nose 👃 on her that a spider monkey 🐒 would fantasize about in his dreams.

A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink, and while he’s drinking, the monkey jumps all over the place, eating everything behind the bar. Then the monkey jumps on to the pool table and swallows a billiard ball.

The bartender screams at the guy, “Your monkey just ate the cue ball off my pool table — whole!”

“Sorry,” replied the guy. “He eats everything in sight, the little bastard. I’ll pay for everything.”
The man finishes his drink, pays and leaves.

Two weeks later, he’s in the bar with his pet monkey, again. He orders a drink, and the monkey starts running around the bar. The monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his ass, pulls it out and eats it.

The bartender is disgusted. “Did you see what your monkey did now?” he asks.

“Yeah,” replies the guy. “He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures stuff first.

Until they start locking people up for gun crimes, and keeping them there, this is all BS. I wonder how many of these highly exaggerated numbers include repeat offenders.

  • Preston Shugart September 2, 2021, 8:38 am

Arrest, prosecute and imprison or execute criminals who use guns to commit crime. Problem solved.

    • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 10:28 am

Führer, also spelled Fuehrer, German Führer. Was that a typo? Hilarious coincidence if it was.

  • Chinaric September 1, 2021, 8:03 pm

also a good thing that would help a lot is to report any mentally unstable people so that they can be put on the person records and used to stop them from getting a gun and if they do not report them to the nics system then they should be charged with a crime.

    • Stan d. Upnow September 3, 2021, 10:38 am

Uh huh. And just what is “mentally unstable” mean, and who determines that? The Left believes anyone who doesn’t support their destructive agenda is mentally ill. “She encouraged gun owners to “be a part of the solution” and “join us in the conservation.” “Tell me about what you do to make your gun safe, and then tell everybody else,” she said.“

Well, no problem, Mrs. Walensky, I am very happy to help you with this and it takes me no more than a quick internet search. You see, there are ten important rules that we law-abiding gun owners follow and which we also call “The Ten Commandments Of Gun Safety”. They go like this and work for just every gun out there, no matter if pistol, shotgun, rifle and whatever else you can think of:

    1. Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. If you become careless with unloaded guns, you will soon become careless with loaded guns

    2. Control the direction of the muzzle. You should always know where the firearm is being pointed at all times, and always keep it pointed in a safe direction. This should become a habit when handling a firearm.

    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

    4. Identify your target and what’s beyond it. Never shoot at movement and make sure you know what is behind your target before you shoot. Never shoot a bullet at a flat hard surface or water. Bullets traveling at a high velocity that hit water or a hard surface will bounce off at an uncontrollable angle. This is referred to as a ricochet. An earthen bank is the best backstop. Just remember, once you shoot the bullet, you cannot take it back.

    5. Be sure the barrel and action is clear of obstructions and that you only have ammunition of the proper size for the firearm you are carrying. This means to be very careful to keep dirt and debris out of the barrel. When a cartridge is fired, tremendous pressures are created to push the projectile through and out the barrel. If the channel that the bullet must travel through is not completely clear, then the pressures that are pushing the bullet down the barrel back up and create a very dangerous condition. It is also imperative that you have the correct ammunition for the firearm. The cartridge must fit the chamber precisely or the same dangerous condition will be created. The correct ammunition used in a firearm is normally stamped on the barrel of the firearm. The same information is stamped on the head of the case of the cartridge or shot shell.

    6. Unload firearms when not in use. Leave the action open. Firearms should be carried unloaded and in a case to and from your shooting or hunting area.

    7. Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot. This means no horseplay with a firearm. It also means never use a firearm to threaten a person.

    8. Never climb a fence or tree, or jump a ditch or log, with a loaded firearm. When moving around with a loaded firearm, always control the muzzle. Even if you trip or fall with the firearm, hold on to it firmly and keep it pointed in a safe direction. Never pull a firearm toward you by the muzzle. Never lean a firearm against a tree, fence, wall or automobile.

    9. Store firearms and ammunition separately beyond the reach of children and inexperienced adults. You should expand that list to include mentally unstable people. This is a very important responsibility of owning a firearm.

    10. Avoid alcoholic beverages or other mood-altering drugs before or while shooting or hunting. No one should drink alcoholic beverages or take drugs while hunting and never go hunting with anyone who does.

The Ten Commandments have been proudly given from me to you, Mrs. Walensky, and are taken from the following link, although it is by far not the only one you can find that supports you with these important rules:

    https://www.outdooralabama.com/safe-hunting-tips/10-commandments-firearms-safety

    Simple, isn’t it, Mrs. Walensky?

    • Dale Roberts September 3, 2021, 11:22 am

“Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.” I just read an interesting article about poorly trained police using their weapon mounted light as a flashlight. Even helping citizens find their wallet or D.L. A loaded flashlight.

      • Snake September 4, 2021, 6:32 am

Wow, that is indeed some tough stuff! One might believe that police officers should know best how to safely handle a firearm, but it seems that some of them need to receive further training. If I would see a police officer using his weapon mounted light and therefore wielding his gun around to do so, I would immediately expect that something bad is going on in the neighborhood.
