A former Bronx resident attending college in Tennessee has been arrested and charged with over 300 gun-related crimes. The police say the man, Shakor Rodriguez, 23, sold 73 of the guns to an undercover police officer in New York.
As reported by the Bronx District Attorney’s Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau, Rodriguez was enrolled at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he is accused of buying guns, ammunition, and magazines to resell in his home state.
The police are continuing to investigate the case to determine how and where he acquired the guns. He is also facing charges of selling “high-capacity” magazines which are restricted in New York.
“According to the investigation by the NYPD Firearms Investigations Unit and the Bronx District Attorney’s Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau, dubbed ‘Operation Overnight Express,’ between July 17, 2020 and December 22, 2021, in the Bronx and Manhattan, Shakor Rodriguez, also known as ‘Sha,’ allegedly sold an undercover officer 73 firearms, of which 59 were loaded, as well as over 40 high capacity magazines, including multiple drum magazines. The undercover paid typically between $1,000 and $1,500 per gun.”
“The defendant allegedly brought these semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines up from the south, sometimes transporting them in a duffle bag by bus,” said District Attorney Clark. “Dozens of the firearms were loaded and four are considered assault weapons.”

“The NYPD worked diligently to intercept these deadly weapons before they hit our streets,” he added. “Bronxites are dying from gunfire and we cannot tolerate one more illegal gun in our community.”
“Stopping traffickers who flood our streets with illegal guns is mission critical in our work to smash the Iron Pipeline,” said New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell. “The NYPD’s officers, working with their prosecutorial partners in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, are the first line of defense in protecting our residents, our families, and our children from the scourge of gun violence and I commend their work in this important case.”
Rodriguez is charged in two indictments totaling 304 counts, including criminal sale of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
Good that they got him, but why wait that long? Likely dealing with others, too, selling to people with felony records who cannot legally buy or possess guns. We understand the posturing, grandstanding. But compared to all the violent criminals arrested and quickly released, this is nothing. Compare to open border trafficking of many tons of killer drugs, thousands of sex slaves, millions of moochers (good many of whom are violent criminals who hurt Americans and overload our justice system), AND MANY ILLEGAL GUNS (going both ways over the southern border–anything for money). This is a tiny band aid on multiple arterial bleeding.
If NYC stopped the proven minimally effective restrictions on citizens’ freedom to keep and bear arms, their city would be safer.
This is what happens when the government overlords create a black market. Shakor is one of 1000– it’s like stopping a shoe box full of Fentanyl at the Mexican border.
And with Newyorkastans new DA he should be out on a bench appearance notice no bail snd he may even be the right color to go free on all charges🤡
Last I checked, New York is one of the 50 United States of America, as is Tennessee. It’s not as if he crossed into a foreign country…..well…….

So, the DA and the NYPD claim to be the “first line of defense” of their helpless citizens against evil guns. If that’s true, then how do they explain that they waited 17 months and wasted (at 1000-1500 per gun) $72,000-$110,000 of taxpayer cash (not to mention the pay of all those folks working on this sting), before they arrested the guy and stopped the flow? How many transactions did this guy engage in NOT with the undercover cop? THOSE firearms aren’t “recovered” by the cops; they’re out there in society.
Totally apart from the anti-gun laws (which are arguably unconstitutional, and clearly counterproductive and stupid anyway), these people are not about promoting safety and enforcing the laws. If they were, they’d have arrested the guy the first time and stopped at least 72 more importations. But then, 3 or 4 charges don’t gain the headlines that 300 do. This is not about safety, or law enforcement. It’s about grandstanding and political haymaking by corrupt bureaucrats.

Excessive restrictions on anything people wish to obtain automatically creates a black market.
That said, this individual was obviously selling primarily to criminals. If honest citizens can obtain firearms from legitimate dealers, the black market is curtailed and it is harder for criminals to get guns.
Actual crime is the initiation of force/violence against another.
By that definition, Rodriguez committed no crime.
The real crime here is the fascist police-state.
You can’t control people using that standard. If the law were based on violence against person and deprivation of property, you could read the entire US Code in one sitting.
But it doesn’t matter. The USA is no longer a nation of laws; it is a nation of political stongarming. It should have never let membership in the legislature be a full time job, and it should have limited the total amount of one’s adult life that anyone could be on the federal payroll. When you allow people to make a career of government service, you begin to stratify the populace into classes.

However, If New York, both City and State, did not have such anti freedom laws, crooks like this one would not be trying to pull these stupid stunts, and any sales taxes from the sale of firearms would be collected by City and State. Kind a dumb not to allow that. And as this case shows, people, mostly criminals, and going to get guns from some other source while the law abiding citizens get screwed!
