Colt‘s return to the double-action revolver scene has been nothing less than a string of successes for the company, and it looks like they’re lining up another with the just-announced Colt King Cobra Target.
Nicknamed the “Baby Snake,” the Colt King Cobra Target is a full-size 10-shot rimfire revolver chambered for .22 Long Rifle. It has a forged stainless steel frame and a one-piece stainless steel barrel and will be offered with 4- or 6-inch barrel options.
“We are very excited to debut this new baby snake to our customers at NRA Annual Meetings,” said Justin Baldini, VP of Product Strategy, Colt CZ-USA. “Shooting .22 LR is such an important part of shooting sports. It’s where we come to learn as a beginner, and where we return as seasoned shooters to cost-effectively enjoy more time at the range.
“We’re confident that new and old Colt fans will love what we’ve done with the new King Cobra 22 LR,” he said in the announcement.
It’s a double- and single-action revolver with an exposed hammer and it has a generous trigger guard for use with gloved hands. It also uses a standard Colt-pattern cylinder release latch and simple markings including a rampant pony on the sideplate.
Other features include a ramped and ventilated rib, full-length underlug and ejector rod, a front fiber optic sight and a fully adjustable rear target sight. It comes standard in both sizes with a Hogue rubber over-molded grip.

“Exceptionally solid and all-American built, the King Cobra Target 22 LR was designed and made to be shot — a lot,” said Colt. “Expect to see these revolvers at the many formal and informal rimfire competitions at gun clubs around the nation. Don’t be surprised when the winners of these competitions are using the King Cobra Target 22 LR.”
With its stout construction, the Colt King Cobra Target is sure to be a shooter for the generations. While the price has not been listed, other similar Colt revolvers typically list for under $1,000.

Nobody has them in stock, and it’s not even listed on Colt’s website.
Question is can I afford one, since gas is as high as the outer atmosphere !!! JMHO
I have all the new Colt revolvers in stock including the new 3″ Python.
I once had a Colt Diamondback .22 revolver, a really beautiful gun. But, it wasn’t nearly as accurate as my Ruger pistol, so I sold it. $275 back in 1980. Stay safe!
All of that is great, but I have been trying to get a Python ever since they brought them back a few years ago, and I have yet to see even ONE for sale in the northern IL area. The closest that I have been to one is handing a demo unit at a gun shop that was not for sale.
Bummer.
