A convicted felon this week was sentenced to 8 years in prison for selling a gun to Malik Faisal Akram, the suspect involved in the hostage crisis at Colleyville’s Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in the Dallas-Fort Worth area last January.
Henry “Michael” Dwight Williams, 33, will spend 95 months behind bars after he admitted to possessing and selling a handgun despite a prior felony conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted possession of a controlled substance.
Williams sold his Taurus G2C pistol to Akram on Jan. 13.

Akram would then use the handgun on Jan. 15 to hold four people hostage at the synagogue for around 10 hours before federal law enforcement gunned him down.
Thankfully, all four hostages were safely evacuated.
“This defendant, a convicted felon, had no business carrying – much less buying and selling – firearms. Whether he suspected his buyer would use the gun to menace a community of faith is legally irrelevant: In the U.S., convicted felons cannot possess firearms,” said U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.
“The Justice Department is committed to prosecuting those who violate our nation’s federal firearm laws, which are designed to keep guns from falling into the hands of dangerous offenders,” Meacham continued. “We are grateful to the FBI, which sprang into action as soon as the synagogue hostage crisis began, and to the agents who worked tirelessly to track the weapon from Mr. Akram to the defendant.”
The FBI examined Williams’ cellphone records and found that he had made several calls to Akram from Jan. 11 through Jan. 13.
The two men met on Jan. 13 at an intersection in South Dallas. Williams said that’s where he sold Akram the gun.

So his first sentence didn’t change his evil ways, so I doubt his second will make a difference. But he at least will have a lot of time to think about it. He should be forced to attain a full curriculum high school education while in. Only knowledge will lift the veil of ignorance.

Sorry, but the idea that ‘ignorance’ is some reason for the crimes people do is just silly, MANY criminals were and are very intelligent, but that does NOT sway them from crime.
Yes, a boatload are basic morons, but there is NO evidence that if they were ‘smarter’ they wouldn’t do what they do.
