So what is the “Coonan Difference,” well, features like: linkless barrel, pivoting trigger, and external extractor.

Coonan defines them accordingly:

  • The linkless barrel is more reliable than linked barrels and offers increased accuracy while virtually eliminating feeding issues.
  • The pivoting trigger’s unique location and motion allow the user more consistent trigger pulls for better accuracy and tighter groups. Every trigger, hammer, sear, and disconnector are crafted at the Coonan facility in Minnesota to their exact specifications. Combined with the pivoting trigger, this firing mechanism configuration allows the shooter a more refined trigger pull and user experience.
  • The final “Coonan Difference” feature is the external extractor, which is coil spring activated for increased reliability and robustness, unlike internal extractors that use leaf springs that can flatten out over time. Recoil operation allows the use of both jacketed and non-jacked ammunition through the 4340 carbon steel hard chrome plate finished barrel.

The gun ships with Novak style rear sights and blade front sights.  Though, there is an option to include fixed night sights or adjustable rear sights.  Also included is a 7-round, single-stack magazine, a carrying case and a storage lock.

Is coonan still allied up with the anti-gun group “evolve” ?

‘The legendary gun designer, Dan Coonan, has never been afraid to tell the public the hard truths. In his words, “I totally support and endorse the message of Evolve. To save lives and to work for a society with less gun violence. We need all citizens, gun owners or not, to come together and support a mutually beneficial and inclusive message to affect not only gun violence, but all forms of violence. We should not live in a society where people feel that they have to be armed to be safe, or that their house must be a fortress to be secure.” On the topic of home security, Dan Coonan says, “Get a dog “. The Coonan .357 Magnum Automatic slogan is “Looking for your first pistol? This isn’t it.”’
