SHOT Show 2013

The one creature we haven’t seen on HBO’s “True Blood” is the now ubiquitous Zombie, but if they show up this year you’ll have everything you need with this silver bullet and wooden stake kit from Coonan Arms. You probably already know Coonan from their fabulous .357 Magnum semi-auto handgun, but that begs the question, “where do you go from a highly successful .357 Magnum pistol?” Apparently the answer is, hijack the zombie craze at the height of vampire and werewolf fame and fortune, and produce a very clever and extremely silly silver bullet kit, replete with its own wooden stake. Vampire Diaries just started back up, and it won’t be long before True Blood is back, but its a good thing Twilight is over because this would be too much for those sparkly sissies. The silver bullet pack includes real silver plated bullets, not solid silver, which makes the pack only $39.95, and the bullets really do shoot. They are moderately hot .357 Magnums. Look on the accessory page on the Coonan website.

Also check out new finishes from Coonan in Cerakote, as well as a new ported model. This is a great gun that we reviewed some time ago. If you have been thinking of getting one, there are a lot more options these days, and this is a gun that is always the center of attention everywhere you bring it anyways. Check out Coonan Arms for 2013.

Back in the 80’s I bought two “Monster Kits” it had 6 Silver bullets, 6 highly polished wooden bullets and 6 lead bullets, you could get them in .357 or .44, I bought two 44’s, the silver was for Werewolves the wooden for Vampires and the lead for Mummies. They were $70 each, shot one of the wooden ones for fun, it was highly accurate, still have them, not needed yet, but who knows…..?

Those who believe in God, carry on. Those who believe in Zombies, Vampires, or Werewolves, carry on. Those who believe in the Second Amendment, carry on. Can’t we all get along?

  • Jimmy February 1, 2013, 8:37 am

From what I remember, the only way to kill a werewolf is with a solid silver bullet. Silver-plated ones will probably only p*** one off. As for vampires, the stake will probably due, but it must be used by someone with a good heart. I haven’t met too many vampire hunters with one of those. As for the Zombies, I don’t plan to get that close to one to find out if a head shot with my Beretta 92FS will kill one. I plan to use my Daniel Defense AR-15 from as far away as I can be before having to rely a handgun. Even my tactical Mossberg 500 pump would have limited use when surrounded by a roving bands of the undead. And of course, if I meet any of the characters from the “Twilight” series of movies on some dark and stormy night, I would certainly do everyone a favor and use whatever I can to prevent another sequel from being made.

I remember talking with my grandfather, when the twilight movies were all the rage, about a box of silver 30-30 ammo I found while cleaning out the gun safe. I wondered why he had them in there and how old they were, as I had never heard of the manufacturer. His response was classic “To kill any Jacob type that comes within 50yds of my property!” As to the age of the ammo, your guess is as good as mine.

Hi there, Liberal here…We aren’t all after your guns…some of us even want to keep our guns too….also have no problem with novelty ammo items. This move for bans and restrictions isn’t a liberal conspiracy….every one of those bastards up there, liberal or conservative would sell your rights for a pool on the moon and that’s just the truth. Stop thinking division and realize we are all being persecuted here, by elite, old wealth….both from conservative and liberal backgrounds…

    • Lee Dutra February 1, 2013, 12:25 pm

Hey, a thinking person, how novel.

  • ORRonin January 21, 2013, 6:49 pm

Guys! It’s a novelty item! Tongue in cheek? You know the term? Lighten up. We’re all on the same side here.
The left is gonna believe what the left wants to believe. It doesn’t and shouldn’t matter to any of us. We cannot be worried about how we appear to the left wing. There is nothing we can do to make them like us or our tools any better, so quit trying. Believe me when I say that once you get past worrying about what they think, and focus on what we know and believe, you are going to be a lot happier. I am an old time trial lawyer, and the best advice I ever got on how to win my cases was from another old time trial lawyer when I was just a pup. He said “Try your own case! Stop worrying about what the other side is going to do and how to counter their witnesses etc. Focus on your own case and what you are going to do with your witnesses.” After 35 years I can fully appreciate this advice.

Hey, boys and girls – this Zombie thing has piqued the interest of folks that weren’t previously interested in shooting before. I think anything like this a golden! Besides, the anti-gun crowd will always look for excuses to paint us a crazy. No matter what we say or do – so go for it! 😛

  • Stevenjojo January 21, 2013, 6:20 pm

Dude, these are so awesome, I am going to order them and display them with my other Zombie ammo and monster removal products. They re all just for fun and hey who knows we may need em.

  • Randy January 21, 2013, 2:15 pm

Nobody needs to get worked up over this. These products were out long before the height of the onslaught of the gun-ban nuts. Zombie Ammo may have a unique name but it sure is effective ammo! Nobody in their right mind would ever go after a product just because of a name, oh yeah, the Libs…. Not in their right mind.. Never mind.

But still, I don’t think it’s anything to get worked up over. At least it not called Liberal Apocalypse Ammo! But you never know, Some Liberal Progressive might pipe up and say the word ‘Zombie’ is offensive to Liberals, LOL.

  • Evan Friend January 21, 2013, 12:49 pm

Products like this are idiotic and serve only to paint gun owners as childish or actually insane. If you buy a gun, gun accessory, or ammunition with the words zombie, vampire, or werewolf anywhere near it, you’re wrong. Liberals like to distort us into lunatics as it, suggesting that you’re preparing for some kind of zombie apocalypse just gives them ammunition in their “high capacity bullet clip” or whatever the current insipid term they use for magazine is.

    • Administrator January 21, 2013, 1:19 pm

It’s ok you are going to find a reason to turn against us anyway, because you are a gutless fool. We might as well just be ourselves. Can’t wait for the Lone Ranger movie this year with Johnny Depp as Tonto. You want to talk silver bullets there sister, hang onto your hat.

      • Evan Friend January 21, 2013, 1:29 pm

I’m not turning against anyone. Any former Marine has heard this speech a thousand times, nothing happens in a vacuum and what you do as a gun owner reflects upon others. Thus, I find it irresponsible to buy silly products designed for killing monsters that only exist in movies. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past two months, you know that the left is coming after our guns, and they’re coming hard. What possible reason could there be to give them a talking point? Yes, I understand that nobody is actually buying this because they intend to shoot vampires with it, but reality doesn’t factor into leftist arguments, especially when it comes to something like suggesting that gun owners are all racists or psychopaths or terrorists or whatever. If the political climate was different, this would be a harmless novelty product, but that’s just not how it is right now.

        • Administrator January 21, 2013, 1:32 pm

Did you call your representatives yet? Did you tell your friends to? Post on Facebook? Email all your contacts? Or do you just want to talk about zombie bullets?

          • Evan Friend January 21, 2013, 1:40 pm

Of course I’ve called my rep, not that it did any good as she’s an ultra-liberal Democrat. I don’t just want to talk about zombie bullets, it’s a relatively minor issue here, but it still reflects poorly on gun owners when products like zombie bullets and EOTech’s zombie optic sell. Obviously, contacting elected representatives and getting the truth about guns and gun owners out publically is more important than something like this. That doesn’t mean that zombie bullets are the harmless joke that they’re intended to be though.

          • Administrator January 21, 2013, 1:52 pm

Well I hope they hell they aren’t harmless! I’m carrying them in my Coonan .357 just in case.

    • Lot January 21, 2013, 4:20 pm

I agree Evan with your statements as I do not want to see displays of vampires in coffins when I go to buy target ammo. Sad enough to see Halloween even allowed in America, but now companies want the satanic spirit of Halloween on display year round.

      • Administrator January 21, 2013, 7:09 pm

Excuse me this isn’t target ammo, unless you are some rich like Don Johnson or something. And it is really only available online, so it isn’t in your way.

      • Evan Friend January 22, 2013, 10:06 am

First, I do NOT endorse Lot’s theories here. None of my objections to zombie ammo have anything to do with satanism or any other religious reasons. I really don’t care what targets look like as long as you know what’s behind them. And Halloween isn’t at all satanic, it’s the day before All Saints Day, a decidedly Catholic (and maybe other Christian sects too, I don’t know) holiday. My objection here is that guns are not toys, and products like these give the appearance that we consider guns to be toys. Whether we like it or not, the way we as gun owners are publically perceived is important. It is much easier to win the gun control debate when you look like a serious adult instead of an overgrown kid playing zombie apocolypse with live ammo. I know it’s a tounge-in-cheek novelty item, I just think that the humor falls flat given the current political climate.

    • Tom Jerbic January 21, 2013, 7:22 pm

It may well be that the threat of a zombie apocalyse may be the only thing that saves our 2nd ammendment. No need for “black gun” or high-cap mag regulations to fight zombies.

  • Lot January 21, 2013, 11:15 am

Sad we have so many satanic shows like True Blood and many others on the air. Now the same spirit has descended on so many manufactures in the arms industry. Very disappointing as I will not buy ammo that supports this. Take a look at the attacks by teens on homeless and others acting out their vampire fantasies. No wonder the promise of GOD go unfilled on our nation.

    • SteveA January 21, 2013, 1:25 pm

Geez Lot, take things way too seriously why don’t you.

      • Dustin January 23, 2013, 3:36 am

hmm, it must take bronze age logic to profess such serious outrage at such a seriously outrageous buy a few powder grains off from being a pure gag gift…little baby jesus in a manger, please save our world from the evils of zombies, vampires, werewolves and even unicorns….cause they horn be evil….

  • eric January 21, 2013, 7:51 am

Silver works on vampires and werewolves. you only need plain old ammo for zombies. c’mon, you guys should know this stuff.

    • zach January 21, 2013, 9:24 am

actually i’m pretty sure silver bullets are for werewolves only, vampires need a wooden stake to heart or holy water, but that’s just according to Van Helsing

      • Administrator January 21, 2013, 10:07 am

In True Blood vampires don’t like silver but it doesn’t kill them.

        • Gerald January 21, 2013, 12:04 pm

Sorry administrator but True Blood isn’t a guide line for information on mythical monsters. Zach is right on the money, silver bullets only work on werewolves, stakes and crosses for vampires and smashing the brain for zombies.

          • Administrator January 21, 2013, 1:21 pm

Oh come on you are just making excuses because you want to silver Jessica.

    • Quinn January 21, 2013, 1:09 pm

It is all 3, the bullets are cased in a wooden stake, for vamps. The bullets are coated in silver for wolves. and the bullets are bullets for Zombies.. so they got it right for lore. its a funny little product, no diferant from pink camo coating your 1911 or engraved grips with a reaper.
