Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) this week, along with 21 other cosponsors, introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) Joint Resolution of Disapproval to stop the Biden administration’s ban on homemade guns and its illegal gun registry.

“For the past two years, we’ve seen crime rates skyrocket all across the country, aided by Democrats’ soft-on crime policies and left-wing district attorneys operating like progressive activists instead of law enforcement officers,” Cruz said in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.

“Democrats would love nothing more than to shift the blame and stoke anti-gun sentiment, and create a permanent national gun registry in the process.

“By introducing this resolution, we’re pushing back—we want to stop the Biden administration from issuing the final rule expanding the definition of firearms and instituting a national gun registry, we want to stop the false narrative that links the rise in crime to ‘ghost guns’ and firearms, and we want to protect law-abiding citizens who are exercising their Second Amendment rights,” he concluded.

As GunsAmerica reported earlier this week, the DOJ has officially published its new rule redefining the term “firearm,” banning so-called “ghost gun” kits and requiring FFLs to maintain gun sales records.

Prior to this new rule, gun sellers were allowed to dispose of firearm transaction records after 20 years. Now, they’re no longer allowed to destroy those records—ever.

Gun Owners Director of Federal Affairs Aidan Johnston applauded Cruz and his colleagues for trying to stop the rollout of the new rule.

It’s Official: ATF Finalizes and Publishes ‘Ghost Gun’ Rule

“President Biden’s recent move to expand ATF’s gun registry is illegal, and we applaud Senator Cruz and his colleagues for fighting this unconstitutional rule with a Joint Resolution of Disapproval,” said Johnston.

“GOA will sue the Biden administration to halt the implementation of this anti-Second Amendment rule and is pleased to see members of the Senate sending a clear message that they will not tolerate this unlawful abuse of authority,” he added.

The senators joining Sen. Cruz are Senators James Lankford (R-Okla.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), James Risch (R-Idaho), James Inhofe (R-Okla.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), and Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

Calling out the Democrats for being the problem while pushing review of their Democrat president’s party-line actions in a Democrat controlled Congress.

    Interesting strategy.

Unconstitutional violation of Ex Post Facto. You can’t take property that was legal yesterday but you made illegal today. Even the clinton gun banners knew that.

They’re not taking anything, so far as this rule goes. They’re placing restrictions on businesses that make, distribute, or sell unfinished receivers.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s as stupid as most gun control, but I don’t think this one will fail on ex post facto grounds.

What I read stated nothing is grandfathered and everything out there now has to go to a licensed mfg. for a number. Then a background check before you get it back.

So, Biden is NOT pushing for retro serial #s with a threat of legal jeopardy for non-compliance?

Donald Trump and bump stocks? Ring a bell? That’s something that bothers me about Trump. I would much rather see a Desantis or Cruze as a POTUS. They ( in my thinking) don’t waiver depending on which way the wind is blowing.
