Great video. Not boring. Well organized with the video of the target while shooting. Can you give more specifics on both loads you were talking about? A couple questions. How does the 7.5 x 55mm compare ballistically to the .308? Why don’t you seat the bullet a little deeper to avoid having to slam the bolt closed to seat the round in the chamber? How do you know when you have it seated properly when you have to hit the bolt forward? I have a nice K31 that might be a nice one to customize like you did for long range fun. That’s if the ballistics allow this .30 cal round to stay relatively flat long enough for 1000yds.

This guy is not one of our peeps and we sometimes run his stuff to share as much as there is to share at least. Most likely he didn’t have the sizer die adjusted properly, or he hadn’t trimmed his brass sufficiently. Ballistically if you want to compare I use the Hornady website and compare factory loads in various calibers with similar bullet weight. I find it a nice apples to apples type of understanding.
So he’s put a scope mount on a military rifle that prevents use of stripper clips, and prevents the brass from ejecting properly. I will believe that rifle ejects reliably when the video shows rapid fire of several strings without needing to hand remove any brass. His home rigged shell deflector plate underscores that the mod interferes with function of the rifle- And if you have seen how the Swiss cant the action in the stock for their sniper variant, you will understand.
Other than that, he’s ignoring the best advice of long time K31 shooters: DO NOT neck size only for the K31. Always full length size.
Requiring “Giving the bolt a good smack” on closing means you have not got either your re-size or bullet seating properly done. And when he jams a projectile in the bore (Swiss did not DO throats in the K31!), extracts the brass and it says behind?
K31s rock. When I got mine, a buddy and I took it to the range. Shooting GP-11 at 100 yards, the first shot was 1 inch high and almost 2 inches right. On the second shot, my buddy, watching the target with 10x binoculars, says, “I think you missed the target.” So, I shoot again, and he says, “You missed it again.”
So, we walk down to the target, and lo, and behold, there are three holes – all of them touching!
I normally cannot shoot that well with iron sights. Heck, I rarely shoot that well with optical sights. The Swiss know how to make accurate rifles. I am giving them the credit.
