The irony was especially thick on Twitter yesterday as the woke mob blasted anti-gun prince David Hogg for having the temerity to suggest that young people shouldn’t resort to violence in their political protests.
Hogg, by far the most high-profile anti-gun activist who survived the 2018 Parkland massacre, has in recent years expanded his repertoire of grievances to include capitalism, “imperialism,” and voting rights. In a tweet posted yesterday, Hogg encouraged other young people to engaged in protests and voting but spoke forcefully against “the use of violence to acquire political power.”
He argued that violence has deep roots in “in imperialism, capitalism and white supremacy,” and he said he refuses to “believe that the use of this same violence will ever create nonviolent systems of government that represent and support everyone.”

For the only half-sane (half-sane) tweet Hogg has ever posted, he got excoriated by his fellow leftists.
“Violence is a necessary character of any revolution to overthrow capitalism, a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, which is by definition imposed through violence,” one user wrote. “I think the brutal response to the BLM protests should make that clear.”

The response got so bad that Hogg had to issue a clarification. By “young people,” Hogg said he really meant “young white people” who he sees “arming themselves or wanting to so they can go and loot and act in antagonistic ways against the state trying to use allyship as a cover.”
He would never tell “BIPOC people how they should react to violence directed at them by the state.”

Hogg’s tweets come as many major American cities wrestle with ongoing riots, violence, and unrest in the name of the Black Lives Matter movement. Dozens of people have been injured in the protests and nearly 20 people have died.
