Looking for an appropriate carry gun for the big debut? SSVI has you covered.

[/full_width]

I’ve been wrestling with the title of this post. Here are my options so far:

  • Top 5 ways to really conceal carry.
  • Is it illegal to carry where a business says you can’t?
  • Concealed Carry Wars.
  • Concealed Carry Awakens.
  • Forget the lightsabers, carry a blaster.
  • Nothing beats a good blaster at your side.
  • Hell yeah I’ll carry Friday night.
  • A note on soft targets.

In the end, an editorial voice I trust implicitly suggested Deadly Force Awakens: Do We Carry at Star Wars Premiere, and the title has stuck. When read together, the others pretty well sum up my feelings on the big debut. Friday, December 18 will mark the single biggest movie debut ever. In the entire history of the world. No cultural event has ever been this big. And that may mean trouble.

I'm consdiering carrying this. Appropriate, I think. But not the easiest to conceal.

I’m considering carrying this. Appropriate, I think. But not the easiest to conceal.

Star Wars are one thing, but the concealed carry wars are going to be an issue tomorrow, too. Movie theaters are soft targets. And those that prevent patrons from carrying are even softer targets. Many of the theater chains have already announced that there will be no weapons of any sort allowed in–not guns, not fake guns, not lightsabers or Gaffi Sticks. Nada. They’re so paranoid that they won’t allow people to wear masks into the theaters.

Let’s think about this. We’re talking about Star Wars. Cosplay is extremely popular with the Star Wars geeks (myself included) precisely because you can hide who you really are behind a mask!

But I’m talking about the bigger picture

Here’s the question. If you are going to see the movie, will you carry?

My task in this editorial is difficult. I want to say that you should seriously consider carrying a concealed handgun. I also want to tell you that you have an obligation to obey the law. But, in writing this piece, I am implying that there is something deeply ominous about willingly going somewhere that prohibits you from carrying.

Look at it from this perspective: you are a conscientious armed citizen; you obey laws. If you obey the law, you may not have a gun. You know full well that ANYONE who chooses a movie theater as a target will obviously, willingly break the law. Shooting people is still a violation of the law. The only thing that the prohibition of firearms accomplishes is the compulsive disarming of law-abiding, conscientious citizens.

Who actually believes that a criminal or a terrorist or a government shill might have the intent to shoot people, but change his or her mind because a movie theater has posted a sign at the door prohibiting firearms?

So what are they actually trying to prevent?

Let’s pretend, for a moment, that these theaters may have a valid reason to prohibit law-abiding citizens from carrying guns on their premises. What would that reason be?

When a patron enters the premises with a loaded, risk increases. So there’s corporate liability involved. Not all gun owners are responsible gun owners. Accidents happen. Negligence exists. By barring carry, a corporate entity can sleep well at night. Maybe.

My guess is that theaters are also concerned about the omnipresent juvenile behavior of teenagers. Rivalries come with the teenage territory. And as some of these miscreants have frequent run-ins with each other, and with the law, it would seem logical to keep the bloodshed to a minimum. Most of these punk-ass bitches don’t premeditate. Their crimes are spontaneous. If a teenage punk thinks he might get a pat-down for a minor-in-possession, or some other slap-on-the-wrist, he won’t want to compound the problem with a gun. You know–for kids. Maybe.

But there are nefarious individuals who actually plan. I don’t care who you want to blame for the recent spate of terrorist types that have really captured the American imagination, but these automatons plan. And they ignore posted signage.

So we’re back where we began

I’m a scholar of Star Wars. I taught a college class on the subject for years. When A New Hope hit theaters, it was a sleeper hit. And reels had to travel from town to town. The release of parts 1, 2, and 3, were huge—but the movies themselves were debacles. That’s what makes The Force Awakens so important. It holds the hope of at least three generations of Star Wars fans–people like me. Star Wars defined my childhood imagination as it now defines the life of my 8-year-old son. And this is it. This movie is the resurrection of the whole franchise.

Will we show up in numbers? Damn straight. Will we be completely distracted? Yes. Will we be soft targets? Of Course. Will we, those who have owned the responsibility of defending ourselves and the ones we love, disarm?

I carry at EVERY movie I attend,, I refuse to be a dead fish in a barrel…
I also carry in Church,, BOTH legally here in GA btw,, since we eliminated almost ALL ‘Liberal Killing zones’ (aka Gun Free Zones) over a year and a half ago…

  • Jay December 19, 2015, 8:10 am

Bottom line! If the proper legal sign is not displayed they can not legally restrict your carry! I will not go to a movie and or any other place that wants to retract my human rights! I do not freely give my money to any business that goes against my human rights! at least not knowingly,, I research such things. The theater I go to does not restrict CHL carry! If I have to wait to watch a movie at home, so be it, it’s their money loss not mine! My family’s life, my life and or my friends life is not worth the price of a movie ticket to be a sitting target!

  • 2B or not 2B 2A December 19, 2015, 7:28 am

Thankfully I reside in Alabama and have been to a few movie theaters while concealed carry. The officers inside the lobby I am sure are trained to look up and down an individual for signs of carrying weapons. Never a problem. On one occasion while going to see American Sniper, it seemed I could tell the officer suspected that I may be armed, he gave me a nod, seemingly of approval, and on our way we went. It probably helps that my CC jacket has the American flag on the chest and CCA (Concealed Carry Association) members pin on the other chest. I will not anything for granted in this day and age.

  • michael December 18, 2015, 7:38 pm

Fellow Patriots, We all need to continue supporting gun ownership, utility, and the right to carry… despite constant onslaught by the libs and left media keep pushing. Gun owners are mostly holding ground, and sometimes making some real headway. I can now legally carry concealed in my state where I couldn’t five years ago. It’s a political battle we have to wage and not ever let up!

Merry Christmas Friends. How was the movie?

  • Chris Baker December 18, 2015, 6:14 pm

Oddly enough, I liked the first 3 movies to come out but I saw the 4th one, episode 1, and haven’t seen any later than that. I certainly will NOT attend a movie that doesn’t allow me to carry in their theater. I don’t need to see any movie badly enough to put myself in a situation where if the worst should happen, I don’t have any chance to defend myself. It isn’t worth it to me. Same with airports and airliners. Stupid people running things don’t realize that if I’m there with my gun or guns, they are safer than if my guns are prohibited. Like all gun owners who aren’t criminals to begin with, I would NEVER shoot someone except in self defense or defense of another. There’s no one on Earth who can make me mad enough to attack them first.

  • Brian Onuscheck December 18, 2015, 3:59 pm

I haven’t read all of the replies here, but to answer one person who said to wait for it to come out on DVD I’d like to say that I’ve seen this movie twice in 3D already and it’s a visual masterpiece. Unless you have a full scale theater with a full sized movie screen in your home, several thousand watts of amplification for your surround sound system and multiple 30″ subwoofers, and 3D capability you would be missing out by waiting for a DVD release. It really deserves to be seen on the big screen.
Weather you carry of not is your business.

  • Jar Jar December 18, 2015, 1:51 pm

When it comes down to you living or dying does it really matter what BS text is written on a sign or in a law book or in the constitution? When my life is on the line I won’t be thinking about what is written on a sign or book or on the bathroom wall. But, alas I live in socialist California where they will probably have metal detectors at the entrance and I don’t want to go to jail for the rest of my life because they thought I was the one prepped to go off on the soft targets.

    • dantanna January 3, 2016, 10:58 pm

“does it really matter what BS text is written on a sign or in a law book”

Why, yes, yes it does matter. That text the rest of us call The Law does in fact matter.

  • Larry December 18, 2015, 1:46 pm

I don’t go anywhere unarmed. Lucky for me, I don’t give a rip about Star Wars & won’t be seeing that movie today or any day in the future.
Stay safe out there, everyone & MERRY CHRISTMAS! Jesus is the reason for the season.

  • OHuerta December 18, 2015, 1:20 pm

    Absolutely,
If I could get a CCW here in California, I would definitely…

  • JoeUSooner December 18, 2015, 12:50 pm

The Constitution does NOT “grant” or “confer” any rights, and certainly not my right to carry… the Constitution specifically prevents the government from interfering with – or trying to revoke – my natural (God-given) rights, including to self defense. Big difference.

In Oklahoma, luckily, most “no-gun” signs do not carry weight of law. This is an important technicality… any private property owner certainly has the right to declare his property a gun-free area, and can inform the public of that decision (by using signs). However, if/when found to be carrying concealed (against the property owner’s wishes), the gun carrier can be asked by the owner to leave. In that case, the carrier must immediately depart, or be subject to misdemeanor charges of trespassing… however, no firearms-related charges apply to simply carrying concealed.

The exception to that involves areas that are specifically designated by legislative statute (courthouses, public schools, etc) to be a gun-free zone… where signs do carry weight of law, and carrying in those statutory areas does involve firearms-related charges.

I always carry – at home and everywhere I go – so I just never visit courthouses, etc.

    • dantanna January 3, 2016, 11:19 pm

If you are charged with trespassing you are de facto being accused of violating law. Or do you really believe statutes against criminal trespass are not really law but only a suggestion?

I guess you think if you only get a misdemeanor conviction, it’s not really against the law, amirite?

So many “responsible” gun owners here who advocate breaking the law….my word. A disgrace.

  • BRASS December 18, 2015, 11:28 am

    If I can’t carry, I don’t go. Simple.
As to legality, each state has its own concealed carry legislation and regulations but in general, I would assume the answer is NO, you cannot carry legally if the business has a posted notice banning carry on premises.

  • Jim December 18, 2015, 11:01 am

I live in a state where the no gun sign on private property has no legal teeth, unless you are asked to leave and you don’t, then is is a trespass violation only. I went to Star Wars last night, on the 17th, and I carried. I always carry everywhere I go. If they don’t see it, they don’t know. In my state, it is even legal, if you have a conceal carry license, to carry in schools. I do all the time, and it was even seen once. The principle called me out later that day. He told me that the school was a gun free zone, and I told him that he was mistaken. I went to see him the next day with a copy of the state law. He had already checked it out and saw that I was correct. He now knows that I am always armed when he sees me at the high school where my daughter goes. Now there is no problem.

    • dantanna January 3, 2016, 11:33 pm

It’s only a tresspass “violation”, eh? Not like you ignored a real law.

But that’s not true. It’s as real as any law. Your permit to carry concealed does not confer upon you an exemption to any law.

How extraordinary an assertion: Carrying means legal nullification at will. Or at least that’s what far too many fools here believe.

  • petru sova December 18, 2015, 10:11 am

If you are going to see the movie you will not be carrying if you want to keep your license as most theaters have banned concealed carry. I have heard some will be using metal detector wands as well. So I will wait until the movie comes out on Net Flex.

  • Steve December 18, 2015, 10:11 am

I carry at every movie I see! I carry all the time I’m not at home – if I go to get gas I’m carrying – if I go to grocery store I’m carrying – etc. etc.

  • Falcon63026 December 18, 2015, 9:52 am

Has there ever been a lawsuit against a business that prohibited firearms, but allowed a murderer in to shoot patrons? Seems to me a business that denies someone their 2nd amendment right takes on extra liability to ensure their safety! There should be class action lawsuits against businesses there shootings take place and they prohibit lawful concealed carry. Where are the ambulance chasing lawyers when you need them!?

    • Wayne Clark August 13, 2016, 9:36 am

That’s what I’ve been shouting for years. I do my utmost to not patronize a business that bans handguns. If I absolutely have to go, or one of my family members do & an armed criminal causes any harm to me or them, their ass is mine. If I’m killed, my surviving family knows what to do.
One way or another, these killing zones need to be ended. At least with courthouses & most schools, there are armed guards or resource officers (usually cops) to offer a form of protection but these, “we don’t like guns & you can’t bring them in” (in my snarkiest voice), need to be held accountable for their liberalistic stupidity.

  • kburns December 18, 2015, 9:42 am

Went to the premier last night, carrying locked and loaded.

  • WillieNAz December 18, 2015, 9:32 am

The local Harkins Theatres have their gun sign in the window to make the libtards feel all warm and fuzzy, but their real policy stated on their website is that you can carry as long as it stays concealed. The Constitution doesn’t give me the right to carry, God does. I don’t carry for self protection since I know when I leave this place I graduate to a much better place. I only carry to preserve a little more time to those sheeple around me who go through life unaware…. I had a teacher who used to call them amnesiacs and it fits well. The life I save may be someone who needs a sobering moment in their life to look around take stock of life, wonder and slow down enough to ponder is there a God, does he really care for me and is that why I was allowed to live one more day? God will allow you to go hand in hand with the devil until some really messed up stuff happens, so you will hope for some good in this world and find Him. Carry concealed, be a rebel for good in these evil times and save a life.

  • survivor50 December 18, 2015, 9:07 am

My “Theater” of choice not only ALLOWS, but encourages “Carrying”, and hires several off duty LEOs…and they serve a mean Scotch…
If it got any better… it’d be against the law !!!

  • survivor50 December 18, 2015, 9:07 am

  • Benny Teague December 18, 2015, 9:06 am

Fortunately here in Wichita Ks, the largest theatre group wholly owned by Bill Warren has signs posted “Open Carry Not Allowed”. I do NOT attend any other theatre. I will see the movie and I WILL be armed. I can’t possibly imagine a cowardly person would attempt a shooting KNOWING there will surely be armed patrons there too.

  • Tony M. December 18, 2015, 9:01 am

Well matter of fact I attended the premiere last night here in Florida, police were very visible and out in force at the theater. There were no hassles at the entrance, no checking, I carried concealed as I do daily, with no problem. I suppose any wrongdoers would have been met with the appropriate swift response from both law enforcement and concealed carry patrons, as I’m sure I was not the only one carrying at that theater. Stay safe brothers.

    • Robert C December 18, 2015, 10:28 am

Awesome. And to all you mumbo-jumbo law-policy freaks… GROW SOME NADS.

      • dantanna January 4, 2016, 12:07 am

How did we get to where a law-abiding responsible gun owner is now a “mumbo-jumbo law policy freak”?

The lib antigunners say again and again that gun owners can’t be trusted, that when they strap on a gun they become nothing so much as a vigilante.

I see many of you have played right into the hands of these libs. Too many of you can not be trusted to obey the law when you are carrying. How do I know? Too many of you have stated you ignore outright or rationalize away the law when you carry!

Do you realize that a man carrying a deadly weapon who insists he will decide which laws he will abide by is at best a vigilante, but ultimately is merely a type of armed criminal? Ironic but you have become exactly the class of criminal you carry to protect yourselves against — the armed man the law does not deter.

You have left me with little to say in reply to these gun-fearing libs. All they have to do is read the comments here. It angers me and shocks me but I cannot refute them on this.

  • gonzo gonzales December 18, 2015, 8:46 am

if a business restricts me from concealed carry and a gunman kills my wife or child because i was restricted from defending them,
could i then sue the business for wrongful death of my loved ones because they infringed on my right to defend them and myself?

  • Ed December 18, 2015, 8:46 am

I have a right to carry, and I do carry. A private business has a right to ask people not to carry on their premises, and I respect that. If I feel that presents undue risk, I just won’t go into that business. However, if I do, they’ll never know I’m armed. I do find it ironic that one business that prominently displays signs on it’s doors prohibiting guns is called “Target”.

    • Robert C December 18, 2015, 10:54 am

A business, any business has the right to “ask”, not demand. For such businesses are on “land” governed by the Constitution and in my opinion have to abide by it. They are NOT exempt from the Law of the Land.

      • Ed December 18, 2015, 12:03 pm

You may have the right to carry. But I have the right to tell you to get off of my land, out of my premises, etc. It’s my property. Not the governments. Not yours. Yours is the same logic that forces a Christian bakery to service a gay wedding or shutdown. If you don’t like a business’s policy, vote with your wallet. Go to a business that you’re comfortable with. Again, I’m not a showboat carrier anyway. They don’t know if I’m carrying or not. So, it makes no difference to me.

  • Joe Blow December 18, 2015, 8:44 am

I am many years past even asking myself this question – as should you all be.

  • LexMorpheus December 18, 2015, 8:42 am

Actually last night was the Pre-premiere. I’m a fan and normally I shun the sheeple/zombie type events, but my kids are even bigger fans and my wife wasn’t gonna let me not take em to the show. As a sheepdog, and being awake to the fact that signs don’t do shizzle in preventing shootings or make us more safe, you bet I carried….I carried big, 37 rounds big, right past the cops who were busy turning away fans with plastic light sabers. We’ve seen enough now to know an unjust law is no law at all, to know to only legal carry permit we need is that pocket constitution. Trespassing? I don’t think so, I refused no request that I leave because I broke their “rule/policy”. In fact I wasn’t even made aware if they even had a no gun rule, didn’t see a sign, nothing on my ticket or not that I saw because I didn’t bother reading any terms or conditions…not that all that would matter anyway because it’s my right EVEN my DUTY to at “all times be armed.” Your un-exercised un-defended rights will vanish unless you air them out once and awhile. Keep America America.

  • MG December 18, 2015, 8:27 am

The only place I don’t carry is the Court House because they make you walk through security with metal detectors.

    • Chris Baker December 18, 2015, 9:03 pm

LOL, Over in Lancaster CA the hospital has a security guard and metal detectors etc, over on one side but at the main entrance you can walk in without any questions or inspections and walk down a few hallways and be inside looking at the security guard and his ever so secure entrance. Really, I’m not making this up. Check it out, it’s on the corner of J and 15th street west. I used to live near there. I even pointed it out to the security guard and said he knew but he had to do his job.

  • Scott December 18, 2015, 8:26 am

I carry concealed everywhere all the time ignoring the signs and the rules. AS one of my favorite quotes in a western by English Bob (Unforgiven) “I mean, if you don’t see it or, most particularly, if you don’t hear it.” What harm is it? The only thing that stops me from carrying inside a place of business is a metal detector. Then I ask if they provide a locker for my firearm, if not I take my business elsewhere, unless of course it’s a courthouse or other public building that I have to enter.

  • Robert C December 18, 2015, 8:21 am

Hell man that’s just telling the “murderer” or “terrorist” that we who carry won’t be there so go ahead, be our guest and make headlines. No thanks. I’m not changing my life, nor should any other American either. CARRY EVERYWHERE…”policies” do
    not trump the Constitution. …period.

  • ARdad December 18, 2015, 8:19 am

we should all stop going to a gun free zones and make that a rule for our children. the only place where the terrorist lost was at the draw Muhammad contest and that happened thanks to good guys with a guns.I have come to realize that the antiguners are so afraid that they think that human nature will change if there are no guns ( i guess ignorance is bliss). I know that in Missouri at different walmarts 2 possible terrorist bought at least 100 no contract cell phones and 50 tanks of propane were stolen from businesses. the Boston bombs proved they do not need guns. we will be attacked by terrorist at least until Democrats and RINO’S are stopped running things. I will profile to save lives. the good thing is we the people can fix this but we have to shut up and start doing it. should Hillary become our Dollar will fail and when food begins to run out it will be Black Friday times a thousand. We then will have the second American civil war. they know this and that’s why the Rebel Southern Flag deemed racist. the majority of our Military will eventually if not from the beginning be on the side of the people and when our Government can’t pay them or supply them the necessities all but a few will turn against them and what weapons they have will become ours.

    • Robert C December 18, 2015, 9:18 am

Why should we all STOP going anywhere in this country? Have you forgotten this is supposedly the Land of the Free and the home of the Brave? These places will not CLOSE DOWN due to our lack of revenue. Go to ALL theses supposed GUN FREE ZONES … with your weapon concealed nicely. Do not CHANGE your lifestyle to fit a business’s “policy”. Grow some nads.

    • Mike T December 18, 2015, 9:45 am

If you are serious… you are exactly what’s wrong with America! Fear-mongering, conspiracy theorist who watches waaaay too much Fox News.

      • Rich December 18, 2015, 11:09 am

Right on brother! Besides, when the first shots ring out all you mo fos are going to duck and cover. Which is what you should do anyway.

      • Chris Baker December 18, 2015, 8:59 pm

Fox news is way to liberal for any true constitutionalist.

        • Fro December 20, 2015, 8:10 am

LIBERAL! What are you on??? Have you ever watched CNN, or ABC, NBC, or CBS during election season? These networks are extremely biased. Fox News at least tries to show both sides of an issue.
“Eyes that see and ears that hear”.

      • Fro December 20, 2015, 8:29 am

Hey Sheeptard, are you of the ‘Love Hillary, ALL is warm and fuzzy and safe and NO harm will ever surface to show it’s ugly head to you or your family?’
Conspiracies have and will occur. Evil is out there, get informed, see both sides and make good decisions. Hillary does not have good intentions for anyone but her. The real shame is that she is the Dem front runner while knowing what a habitual pathological lier she is. Her free pass in the other networks is definitely a conspiracy to misinform the people of the truth.

  • dan December 18, 2015, 8:13 am

My son and I couldn’t bring our fake guns into the Premiere show last night even though they went with our costumes. I did however still conceal carry. It was legal to do that in my theater. I irony was awesome. I do believe however businesses have right on their private property to restrict whatever behavior they want to restrict. Gun owners have the responsibility to make them “pay” by not getting paid with our money. Simple as that. If we want our rights, we need to grant them their right to govern their property. We in turn do NOT have to support them.

    • James F December 18, 2015, 9:36 am

But I don’t have the right to govern on my property. For instance I don’t get to decide when deer season is open and closed on my property.

      • Briguy December 18, 2015, 9:59 am

False equivalency, those animals aren’t you’re property. They are free roaming and there-by owned by the state so the state can govern when and how you hunt regardless if those animals show up on your property. The only thing the government cannot do is deprive you of live, liberty or property without due process.

        • LexMorpheus December 18, 2015, 10:47 am

Forbid it that you should take the “Kings” deer!

I’m sorry, where is it again that the State owns the deer?

          • Briguy December 18, 2015, 11:25 am

Where does it say that you own anything that trots onto your property because where I live there is no law that states that any animal that comes into your property is yours.

        • Easy December 18, 2015, 10:55 am

Briguy – Might want to convince the politicians about that whole pesky due process thing. Remember, you don’t even know if you are on the ‘no-fly’ list or not.

          • Robert C December 18, 2015, 11:55 am

Briguy sounds like a compliant government fearing libturd. Have to have one or two to make the posts interesting, lol.

  • Robert C December 18, 2015, 7:47 am

All you people that “adhere” to a sign stating a business’s POLICY…. (especially a “policy” that has no reguards for you or your family’s life, its just a policy to protect the business from law suits)…are scared little people. Stand up like a real American who believes in the Constitution and protect yourself and your family…..EVERYWHERE.

    • Tom Horn December 18, 2015, 4:26 pm

      Ok, Robert,

But take it to the next level. Instead of a business, how about the State mandated no carry zones (Court houses, State Universities, their stadiums, and campuses). These areas are covered by state law. In my state if you are caught with a firearm in one of these areas you will be charged with, unlawful use of firearms, a felony. Those convicted of a felony will have their firearms confiscated (unless they are a gang-banger in Chicago), by the ATF if necessary. I’ll let those with deeper pockets than mine fight that legal battle. That is why I support the NRA. When you get caught with your CCW in one of these zones, my NRA $’s will help in your court fight once you have spent all your $ and it has reached the Supreme Court. I’ll be right there supporting you.

      • Tom Horn December 18, 2015, 5:00 pm

        P.S.
Funny, no one has brought up that all of these state CCW laws are a submission of our 2A Rights. No where in the 2nd Amendment does it say you have the right to bear arms, as long as you hide them. It does not restrict the carrying of long guns, either. So, in most states we have long ago submitted our 2A rights with laws restricting how a person can bear arms.

When I was a kid we used to walk through town to the city dump, with our .22’s slung on our shoulders, and shoot rats. Today you would have a SWAT team upon you within minutes. America has changed.

        • Chris Baker December 18, 2015, 8:56 pm

There’s also nothing in the second amendment that allows the government to require you to get permission (permit) to carry your weapon, any kind of weapon you can carry. If you disagree where then?, because I missed that part.

  • Robert C December 18, 2015, 7:39 am

No businessman, store, or major company’s little policy or so called “law” trumps the United States Constitution. We carry past your little signs every day, just as the “mass murderer” does. To bad, so sad, get used to it.

    • Briguy December 18, 2015, 9:50 am

You do realize that the Constitution doesn’t extend to businesses, right? It’s the same reason why the admin/mod can delete your post w/o fear of legal retribution for violating your first amendment right of freedom of speech or how a companies policy forbids you to show your tattoos.

Now if the state has mandated that you cannot carry own a gun, that is 100% unconstitutional; however, they can restrict where you can carry them which doesn’t violate the second amendment.

I hope you and anyone else learns the difference

      • Robert C December 18, 2015, 10:22 am

Get caught up in all your mumbo-jumbo buddy. Just like the rest of em. WE are not compliant to “policies” made by big business. “THAT” is not in the Constitution either if you’ve ever read it. “Delete” my comment?… you amuse me… very much, lol.

      • LexMorpheus December 18, 2015, 10:44 am

LOL the Constitution doesn’t apply to business? I know some photographers, florists, bakers and a few county clerks that would have something to say about that. ROTFL
        Carry and Carry Proud folks!

      • Chris Baker December 18, 2015, 8:53 pm

Excuse me. What part of “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” don’t you understand? If they can tell you where you can or cannot carry your arms, your right has been infringed. If you disagree please explain.

      • dantanna January 4, 2016, 12:33 am

Briguy, you are being way too logical and commonsense. Stop refuting these fools’ arguments with the law!

And anyways, you’re dealing with people who’ve already decided only certain laws apply to them, at their discretion. They’re like the jury nullification nutters, just as dense and just as foolish. Only they carry deadly weapons.

  • Robert C December 18, 2015, 7:33 am

Awesome reply. I see it this way. Just because you own a “little business”… your investment does NOT trump the LAW OF THE LAND. We allow the “lawmakers” to pass any law they see fit that suits their purpose at a certain time. This must stop when a “law” ignores the Constitution of the United States.

  • John Doe December 18, 2015, 5:38 am

I will be seeing the premier in Afghanistan, so everyone in the theater will be carrying; some pistols, some rifles, and a few machine guns in the aisle seats thereby making it the safest showing in the world.

    • Tom Horn December 18, 2015, 4:03 pm

      God Bless.

      The Force be with you.

    • Brent Harney December 18, 2015, 5:36 pm

Saw movies that way in Iraq. You are sitting with a better class of people too. Stay safe. Return home.
      A soldier

      • Winston December 19, 2015, 12:42 am

A better class of people? What does that mean? That gov’t employees are better than those of us who are not servants of the oppressors? You sound elitist.

    • Joe K December 18, 2015, 6:01 pm

      Huh-rah!

    • Winston December 19, 2015, 12:38 am

Well, like it or not, the reality is is that you are armed that way because you are an uninvited foreign government invader in someone else’s country. No need to sugarcoat it.

      • Knight2 December 26, 2015, 2:23 am

True. Our military has turned into an invasion force bought by bankers and corporations. It’s all about the money and oil so the rich can be wealthier. Lot of sheep on this site I see. Do as you’re told and don’t ask questions just like our military does.

  • DrThunder88 December 18, 2015, 5:08 am

My philosophy used to be “what sign?” when entering posted gun-free zones. More recently I have considered altering it to “what gun?” That’s kind of the point of carrying concealed anyway.

  • Dustin December 18, 2015, 3:51 am

My son was going to go see it. He’s forbidden to defend himself by the Great State of Floriduh. I went, too. I carried. I ignored the sign. I saw that morbidly obese State Trooper standing by the entrance, capable of doing absolutely nothing in the case of an emergency. I cared not. I was only there because the State and the Theater believe my son deserves to die, and I disagree. I usually subscribe to the “ban my gun, my money goes away” crowd, but they’ve come to restricting everything in life to those willing to lose it. F*ck it. They outlawed guns, and I chose to be an outlaw. I didn’t transform into a violent criminal. Nobody knew. It was no big deal. I’m not sorry. Kiss my @ss.

    • Winston December 19, 2015, 12:40 am

Star wars is a stupid kid’s movie marketed by the same corporate overlords who own the US political ruling class. Boycott whenever possible.

      • Peacekeeper December 19, 2015, 9:55 pm

        STFU you flaming fagot.

        • Knight2 December 26, 2015, 2:15 am

Winston is correct. You have to look at the big picture. Those people in Hollyweird support the politians that want to trample the Constution and disarm the citizens. 90% of them are liberals that support king Obama’s plan of being a dictator. Quit being rude over something you are too stupid to understand.

  • Tom Horn December 17, 2015, 6:52 pm

Texas Ranger shows up at a wedding wearing a side arm. Incredulous woman asked, “Sir, I see you are wearing a pistol. Are you expecting trouble?” Texas Ranger replies, “No Mam. If I was expecting trouble I would have brought my rifle.”

Point being, why give in to the terrorist and change our way of life (no masks, no light sabers). Just carry and protect yourself as you always would. I will avoid these “victim zones” until Americans grow some common sense and end these human traps.

    • Robert C December 18, 2015, 7:52 am

I as many others will not avoid such places due to their so called policies. America will not “change” it’s laws once they have passed. Never have, never will. Our lives are more important than a business’s “policies”. Screw em.

      • gonzo gonzales December 18, 2015, 8:38 am

        wrong
prohibition ended with the repeal of the Volstead Act
but that was when the majority of voters had balls and made their elected reps do as they were told
now whomever “owns” a politician dictates tems

        • Robert C December 18, 2015, 10:17 am

Lol ONE TIME and one time only in the history of the US have the people actually said FU to a law and it was reversed. Never happen again I gare-run-tee you that.

          • DaveGinOly December 18, 2015, 9:43 pm

It’s happening now in CT and NY with massive non-compliance with semi-auto registration laws. Sheriffs and other LE in several jurisdictions have already proclaimed that they will not enforce certain laws now, and will refuse to enforce certain other laws should they be passed in the future.
Civil disobedience is alive and well in America, and being practiced regularly by American gun owners.
FYI, I regularly carry in “gun free zones.” I have a moral obligation to protect my life and the lives of those in my charge. I also have the right to go anywhere I may lawfully go and to do so in full possession of my rights, without regard for their policies. Imagine the uproar if businesses banned the presence of Muslims (or Jews). You can’t ban someone from a state-licensed place of business for exercising a right the state has no authority to infringe upon. That is to say, the state can’t infringe upon your rights, so it can’t create an entity that can. If the state could do such a thing, it could license private police forces capable of ignoring your rights. Can it do that? No, obviously not. Then why do you think it capable of creating any other kind of private business able of doing the same?
The only problem I can see with a movie theater is the fact that you buy a ticket to enter the place. Buying the ticket can be viewed as entering an agreement – the establishment will allow you entry if you follow their rules of conduct. As such, you’re voluntarily surrendering your rights (which you have a right to do). If you’re caught violating the agreement, the worst that can happen (in many jurisdictions) is that you’ll be asked to leave. Only if you refuse to leave will you be guilty of trespass.

    • Tom Horn December 18, 2015, 3:40 pm

      To Robert C.

Yeah, I guess ‘I,’ am the one giving in to terrorists, but I am not talking about the Islamic extremists. I am submitting my 2A rights to the domestic terrorist, namely, our State and Federal politicians who pass these treasonous, un-Constitutional laws that create these victim zones.

I will fight this fight with my vote, my contributions to the NRA and other pro-2nd Amendment groups, and my voice (1st Amendment Rights) until we repeal these victim zones. I will not defy these un-Constitutional ordinances and lose my firearms to the State over the matter. Many a person was arrested and prosecuted for alcohol use during Prohibition.

      • Winston December 19, 2015, 12:34 am

You illustrated the fact that we in the US are slaves to the Beast. Own all the guns you want, but the Beast is still in control.

  • Will Drider December 16, 2015, 9:12 pm

Don’t break the law trespassing with a firearm. Is a movie worth the possible Charge and legal fees?
Don’t patronize businesses that restrict your rights. Is a Movie worth their imposed level of vulnerability?
Wait for the DVD release. Watch it a home surrounded by your blasters.
The Force is not with you if you have to leave it in the car.

    • eric December 18, 2015, 7:25 am

Yes, it is worth it, unless they are searching people at the entrance. No one is ever going to know you have it, and it will only come out if a murderous criminal, who has ALSO violated the “no guns” ban, starts something.
THEN, they and the police will thank you and call you a hero! Of course, because of who they are, the cops will still probably trespass you, but things will surely go very easy…..

    • John December 18, 2015, 7:28 am

Is 6 years better than 6feet under? I think yes.

    • Dan December 18, 2015, 10:09 am

At the end of the day, there is no way I will not go un-armed. I owe it to myself, my family, and my community to protect anyone to the best of my ability if the situation happens where someone is/can be killed by someone with mal-intent. To do anything less would be morally corrupt. Fortunately, with conceal carry, no one will know, I’d rather be asked to ‘leave’ after law enforcement informs me the business does not allow guns, and checking my CCP. Yes, I will go armed, and no one will now, ever, I hope and pray.

      • The Original Brad December 21, 2015, 1:38 pm

I am with you Dan. Mustang II .380 endures in this role and many, many others like it.

    • ArvadaDude December 18, 2015, 12:07 pm

I agree 100 %! Plus does it really make sense to carry some ridiculous “pistol” that you don’t normally carry? Carry your regular set-up that you have trained with. And if you get caught….you will be on the news as the idiot who carried a rifle into a movie.

If the movie houses had armed police security during business hours, or even armed security guards I would be more likely to attend w/o my cc rig. However, they don’t want to spend the money to do that even though right now they are prime targets because the Media loves to glorify violence.

What would be ideal is if the movie houses just allowed concealed carry…problems mostly solved. Mostly I say because every blue moon you have a cc person screw up and leave their gun in the bathroom or have a negligent discharge because they didn’t bother to buy a holster etc. If we cc citizens would raise the bar and erase the major screw ups, many businesses would be more likely to allow carry.

Training is vital as is your holster and equipment. Getting off topic…..

Personally, I’ll go to the movie house to see the film if
      A) I can carry
      B) there is armed security there already
C)I’ll wait a few weeks until the fervor dies down and then still refer to A or B

I really don’t want to wait until the blueray comes out…. but I will if I have to.

    • michael December 18, 2015, 2:17 pm

i can agree with you on most points. it may be worth the risk. what type of security will be in force? walk thru metal detectors? hand held metal detectors? hand touch pat downs? if any of these are used i wouldn’t take the chance. IF they’re not used i would certainly ‘Carry’ and it would be extremely concealed with no possible chance of revealing it accidently to the public. the DVD recomendation. not so much. you will lose all Big Screen experience of which is one of the main reasons to see it at the Big Screen. Bigtime expanse of the action scenes.

    • Peacekeeper December 19, 2015, 7:45 pm

You’re a Fool… and who’s the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him? I am no Fool, I carried my Glock 43 to the first show, opening night with a loaded 7 rounds in the gun, a back up 8 round mag (stock 6 with a +2) in my pocket, my flashlight and my Gerber folder, all while wearing my “The Force Awakens” Han Solo costume. My Glock was in my Corellian nerf leather jacket and my replica DL-44 was strapped to my leg. A Police officer posted in the theater gave me a nod and said “Nice blaster, Solo.” To which I answered, “Nice Glock officer”. So I carried it at a Carmike Theater which does not have signs posted but has in the past searched ladies bags/purses. I plan on carrying this Weds when I go again to see it at the Imax, this time sans costume. I have seen every SW flick on the first day they were released going back to TESB and there is no way I go in a theater anymore not packing. Screw watching it on the little screen at home, Star Wars was made for the theater, not the DVD player. You can run and hide, but we true fans will pack our blasters and carry them in any hive of scum and villainy we enter and I dare you to stop us… we are that 3%. May the Force be with you… Always.

      • dantanna January 4, 2016, 12:48 am

Great. A gun totin’ vigilante wannabe, daring someone to knock the chip off his shoulder.

Well, good to know it’s only 3% of us gun owners. But I think even 3% of us with that kind of ‘tude is still too many, because quite frankly guys like you make the rest of us look bad.

You are really frightened of the world aren’t you, bro?

    • Sam December 20, 2015, 8:07 pm

I carry to protect my family, not anybody else. CCW is discrete and quiet.
