Dick’s Sporting Goods lost $150 million in sales as a result of the company’s anti-gun policies, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The loss amounted to 1.7 percent of the company’s overall revenue and has spurred the company to consider dropping hunting-related items entirely.

But Edward Stack, the company’s CEO and Virtue-Signaler-in-Chief, said the move was worth it.

“The system does not work,” Stack said. “It’s important that when you know there’s something that’s not working, and it’s to the detriment of the public, you have to stand up.”

Stack vowed in the wake of the Parkland massacre to stop selling “assault rifles” and “high-capacity” magazines in its Field & Stream stores, and to halt all gun sales to anyone under the age of 21. The move prompted backlash in the gun rights community, and some gun companies like Springfield and Mossberg cut ties with the sporting goods chain.

Gun control supporters tried to fight back by intentionally shopping at Dick’s to show their appreciation (sometimes called a “buycott”), but the move didn’t work. Turns out, gun owners were a major part of Dick’s consumer base, and they don’t easily forgive corporate attacks on the Second Amendment. The “buycott” folks didn’t stick around.

“Love is fleeting. Hate is forever,” Stack said.

But rather than reconsidering for the good of his employees, Stack has doubled down on his anti-gun position. He signed a letter supporting universal background checks, joined Everytown for Gun Safety’s business council, and hired an anti-gun lobbying firm.

As recently as February, Stack said he wouldn’t change any of the decisions he’s made in the last year.

“We talk about it internally and I often say: If we had a mulligan, we’d do it all over again,” he said.

Dick’s employees may end up paying the price for Stack’s activism. Though the company’s stock prices have risen overall, sales dropped significantly in 2018, and that’s been largely driven by weakness in the hunting category.

While the Dick’s Sporting Goods chain may not shutter many stores in the near future, Stack admitted that his Field & Stream brand may take a larger share of the hit. Many of those stores are locked into long-term leases, according to Bloomberg, and they’re facing a major transition away from hunting and shooting sports and towards “active outdoor” sports.

Right now, it’s anyone’s guess whether kayakers and hikers can save Field & Stream from Stack’s anti-gun crusade.

Never cared much for Dick’s, but at least I now know where the name came from. The dipshit, anti-gun CEO is a real Dick.

  • gkm July 15, 2020, 6:00 pm

hardly ever went there and now will never go there. hope they go belly up.

  • Tom April 14, 2020, 8:09 pm

A lot of formerly pro-gun stores drop firearms, ammo, etc., due to the fact that anti-gun organizations (especially the ones funded by Bloomberg) threaten the launch of a wide-ranging PR campaign that is easier for the store to comply rather than stand and fight. Why? Pro-gun groups offer no support in advance.

    • Les Brigance November 22, 2020, 1:19 pm

This is a Stupid comment! How can anyone think Pro-Gun groups are able to stand up to the likes of BloomingBurg & Soros etc. to support gun stores In ADVANCE when We have No idea what these would be dictators are going to do Next?
Few of Us have the luxury of sitting on our Ass & directing groups like everytown, moms demand etc.
Gates is a prime example ’cause IF he had voiced his extremeisms while building his company(s) his fledgling company would have Died before it had a chance of success!

  • JACK December 27, 2019, 12:45 pm

Used to go often. WIll never go into Dick’s again.

  • Ted B December 27, 2019, 12:27 pm

Please keep up to boycott of Dick’s and other social elite businesses. Are most useful weapon by far is the green back. No purchases means no Dick’s. I’m all for voting with my wallet. That’s the only thing, if anything, that will wake these fools up.

  • Clyde Crashcup November 22, 2019, 11:17 am

As Christmas comes around, I bet the “bottom line” will shrivel even more. I know I won’t shop there ever again because…well….they’re dicks!

  • Bfink April 11, 2019, 1:10 am

To clarify someone’s comment below. Dick’s does not own Bass Pro Shop. Dick’s is a publicly traded company on the NYSE. Buy a few shares and vote the CEO out.

Bass Pro is a privately owned company that purchased Cabela’s. They are not connected.

  • MASTERMECH48 April 8, 2019, 11:15 pm

The AR-15 commonly purchased over the counter is by definition NOT an ASSAULT weapon. It is strictly a semi-auto, gotta pull der trigger for every shot fired. ANY weapons supplier refusing to sell to a qualified individual is in fact by default, supporting the criminal element. Honest people by and large own weapons for protection and/or hunting/recreational activities. Many of “us” good guys keep a defense weapon handy because, the law enforcement element probably will NOT be first on the scene, we will. “DICK’S” and others with that attitude succeed in helping the criminal element which does not get a screening, no waiting period, no age requirement to purchase. Dick’s has their position and I will NOT patronize any business, passively supporting the criminal elements. Combat decorated Navy LDO sends.

  • JF Krieger April 7, 2019, 5:09 pm

In Georgia Dick’s opened up their Field and stream stores. Wonder, seeing these new stores were supposed to cater to the sportsman. hunting, fishing camping etc, if they pulled all the guns out of there also?

    Come on chapter 11.

  • Ron Miller April 7, 2019, 8:55 am

I would not buy anything there anymore, now I will just drive to Tampa and go to Bass pro shop, Dicks can go f its self

    • Edwin Wade April 8, 2019, 8:11 pm

I hate to say… Dicks own Bass Pro Shop too bro. I wouldn’t shop at ANY of them.

      • Wiz April 9, 2019, 4:26 pm

Well if dick’s owns Bass Pro Shop also, why don’t they quit selling guns there as well. If your gonna be a dickhead why don’t you go all the way and quit selling guns at all of their holdings. They just bought Cabela’s so if you are truly going to make a left wing stand why just do it at one outlet??? Probably if they took their anti-gun stance else where they would really take a big time hit. Kind of let’s do it here and not mess with the big bucks, kind of selective anti-gunners. Probably cause they are DICKHEADS. Stupid is as stupid does. go figure.

      • Jay May 16, 2019, 2:08 am

Simple error. Dicks has no connection to Bass pro of any kind and visa versa.

  • Mr. Sparkles April 7, 2019, 8:03 am

While I usually admire someone of principle, Mr Stack’s are based on ignorance and more likely, stupidity. Good luck with your misguided crusade but do not be surprised if you pay the ultimate professional price as wall street investors have little respect for anything that costs them earnings and growth. A vast majority of them think that morals hang on walls in museums and scruples are Russian money. Counting on institutional investors to support a principled crusade, especially if it costs them money, is like trying to teach a pig to sing; You will accomplish nothing and you annoy the pig.

  • Beachhawk April 6, 2019, 5:36 pm

Well, if Dick’s wants to be politically correct at the expense of their sales, so be it. I believe one cannot be pro-American without being pro-Bill of Rights including the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment is one of the things that sets us apart from other nations. If Dicks can’t support the Second Amendment, I will shop elsewhere from now on.

  • Robert Rogers April 6, 2019, 3:41 pm

They should have had the business sense to look around and see how poorly they were doing 2 years ago and not pissed off at least 1/2 of their potential customers (I am being way low in that estimate) while trying to appease those who will not spend much in their stores anyway.

They could be competitive with Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, Sportsman’s Warehouse etc. Instead they will soon go the way of Sears and Sports Authority. Hope they go bankrupt completely.

  • Gunny8541 April 6, 2019, 2:11 pm

Richard or dicks won’t be in business 5 years from now. This idiot is only looking out for himself. He’s already moved his money secretly and its firmed up. So, he’s set. The shareholders are going to pay for this in as little as 2 years from now. If I was a shareholder I’d get the hell out. They’ve all been sold out by this clown. POS like this needs to swing from the gallows with the rest of these anti Americans. I almost lost my life and I live in great pain every damn day because I chose to protect this swamp donkey. I’ll see him in hell.

  • JC April 6, 2019, 1:11 pm

More than likely dicks is going to go bankrupt with or without gun sales just like so many other sporting good chains have done in recent years and the CEO knows it and want’s to go down with the ship espousing “LOOK WHAT I DID FOR GUN CONTROL”. I bet dicks will be declaring bankruptcy soon.

  • JC April 6, 2019, 12:56 pm

Why do think they call it “DICK’S” sporting goods. Don’t bother with your anti gun mantra as there are thousands of gun retailer’s in America. No shortage of guns, just a shortage of common sense where democrats and their progressive/socialistic ideology is concerned.

  • Lawrence Guidry April 6, 2019, 12:17 pm

A bigger idiot than expected, loosing 150 Million, maybe the stock holders don’t care, haven’t shopped there since and so far friends of NRA I know don’t either.

  • Dale April 6, 2019, 11:56 am

Sportsman’s Warehouse gets my money these days. I’ll spend a couple extra bucks to buy there if necessary.

  • SAS April 6, 2019, 2:52 am

If Dicks can’t be pro-gun and pro-America, they should shut the doors and go away, or change what they call them selfs and what they sell.

Left wing politicts (mostly Democratics) should stop trying to screw over America, and stop trying to set America up for a nuther Holicost. They keep this crap up and it will trigger a 2nd civil war. They will loose. It won’t be very pretty.

  • interventor April 6, 2019, 12:24 am

I boycotted Dick’s the first time they ended the sale of semiautos. They added a Field and Stream store. Assuming Dicks recanted, I shopped there once more. Now, never more. Fool me once shame of you. Fool me twice, shame on me! There’s an Academy about half a mile away. Plus, three major stores 40 miles away.

  • DAVID BROWN April 5, 2019, 7:44 pm

They shot themselves in the foot with the AR decision.
So why not shoot themselves in the other foot by stopping all firearms sales?

  • Frank Staples April 5, 2019, 6:41 pm

If I were a stockholder of a company whose ceo decided to alienate one out of every three Americans literally by considering them to be no better than thugs…

  • Chad April 5, 2019, 6:28 pm

Shop local cabelas/bass pro / pro 2nd amendment all the way

  • Sidney Patin April 5, 2019, 6:04 pm

I would not buy anything from Dick’s Sporting Goods because of their anti-gun, anti-2A decisions. I hope the company fails.
There are many other places to buy sporting goods, places that proudly support the Second Amendment and its supporters.
Dick’s and its CEO can go to hell.

  • Scott Wiley April 5, 2019, 5:44 pm

Hey CEO Stack: The headline reads, “Texas High School Hockey Player Suspended Indefinitely for Brutal Stick Attack.” Let’s get those dangerous hockey sticks out of Dicks!

  • William Herleman April 5, 2019, 5:01 pm

I hope they go bankrupt and completely dissolve.

  • Chris April 5, 2019, 4:31 pm

But rather than reconsidering for the good of his employees

I’m not to worried about his employees. I am curious about the shareholders though. Do they have any idea how much he has cost them? Don’t CEOs have a fiduciary responsibility to do what is best for their shareholders financially?
Perhaps they can sue him for losing so much of their money? Did he even ask the shareholders if he should do something this major of a change?

  • Dave April 5, 2019, 4:11 pm

What I like about Dicks is that at our local mall they have plenty of handicap spots and is the best access to the mall with and elevator to get to the lower floor.

  • Walrus Gumboot April 5, 2019, 2:42 pm

In addition to being a gun owner and supporter of 2A I am also a kayaker, hiker and archer.
Stack’s decision to become anti gun and disrespect our Constitutional rights has made me go elsewhere. I’m sorry that the employees may suffer but they also have choices about where they work.

  • Clint W. April 5, 2019, 2:00 pm

The article said the loss was 150 million, 1.7%. That works out to an income of 8.8 billion dollars. Did Dick’s make that much? Is there a decimal in the wrong place?

    • Scott W April 5, 2019, 5:51 pm

That’s $150M in top line revenue.

  • john April 5, 2019, 1:38 pm

Stopped shopping at Dick’s the day he made the announcement.
    Not one more dollar.
Good luck keeping afloat selling spandex bicycle pants.

  • TC April 5, 2019, 1:33 pm

Wonder what they expected. They think they are doing there part but it is all just feel good as seen in the CEOs comments. The company will fade and die like most box stores that do not have a niche. Serves them right.

  • Scott Wiley April 5, 2019, 1:04 pm

Hey CEO Stack: The headline from Indianapolis from 4/3/19 reads, “Baseball bat attack injures 6 in Indianapolis home.” It’s time you took decisive action….

  • J. Dexter Smith April 5, 2019, 1:01 pm

This is wonderful news…a liberal company cutting its own throat. WalMart, Academy Sports, and local gun shops will be thrilled to hear this news as their sales of all hunting materials will by this time next year increase substantially. Now, maybe we can get Starbucks to ban all forms of dairy products; thus, cutting its own throat.

    • Mr. Sparkles April 7, 2019, 8:07 am

Skip Walmart, they no longer sell ARs, at least in the store I shop in. They do however do a thriving business on the ammo that feeds an AR. Hmmmm.

  • Jimbo April 5, 2019, 12:54 pm

Stopped shopping at Dick’s here in NY State YEARS ago, because they weren’t treating gun owners right THEN. I suppose if I got hard up enough that I didn’t have gas money to go elsewhere, I MIGHT buy some sox from them……

  • Charles Hutson April 5, 2019, 12:53 pm

It is much easier to fool someone than to convince them they are being fooled…..Mark Twain

These A holes make enough personal money where they are NOT affected by there decisions or there personal biases. People in there employment will loose jobs but that’s ok because they are taking a stand. There stand has no merit but don’t confuse them with facts.

  • sep267 April 5, 2019, 12:49 pm

I shop at Bass Pro Shops because the other guys are DICK’S

  • Peter Brown April 5, 2019, 12:49 pm

When the likelihood that your decisions will harm the interests you are assigned to protect, or that the odds of succeeding could be stacked against you, you’ve forgotten that the elephant has a very, very long memory.

  • nate April 5, 2019, 12:17 pm

lmao! Ah thanks Dick’s and needed this.

  • Craig Gallagher April 5, 2019, 11:32 am

This is reality, that the select few are pushing their beliefs upon others no matter the consequence to others. I don’t want people to lose their jobs but I also hope the same have enough mental fiber to realize that working for this company shows support for its beliefs.
I will not shop at Dicks ever again and will discourage all to please do the same. This country has unluckily became a majority of weak minded sheep more concerned with their social media than the reality this event has shown. This nation is the laughing stock of the world presently for good reason and the sad part the same people do not even know this or realize why. When one persons actions are meant to trample on countless others and people cannot realize this or turn a blind eye we are in trouble, serious trouble.
Please do not shop at Dicks and help this business to go down in financial flames of bankruptcy, The sad part is if people would put minor effort to shop around you can beat all their prices elsewhere.

  • blg April 5, 2019, 11:27 am

Good to see some “GOOD NEWS” for a change.

  • The Great Gearoni April 5, 2019, 11:22 am

Doesn’t that make Stack The Dick’s head? Yes, yes it does..

  • John W. Raccasi April 5, 2019, 11:04 am

At least we will still be able to buy water wings at Dick’s, that is until one deflates and there is a tragedy!

You know, the system is broken….it’s easier for a non-upstanding tax paying citizen to acquire a firearm than any registered voter. So why is it, that us as the voting public, have to pay the price for those who want to do harm. It’s a shame that there are people in this world that work around the system so they can take out their….unhappiness, on people who are defenseless. Sorry, if you are going to try and harm me or mine I am going to take you with me and I don’t care if it’s with my BHP or my Model 686 or my 1976 half ton (had an AR, money was tight awhile ago) and speaking of the 1976 half ton, with a ridged steel frame, you, Mr Stack or Slack or Splat, better learn….what is harmful and what is not because automobiles are a weapon as well.

By the way Dick’s, there is something that you have seemed to have forgotten, us, the clientele can in this modern age buy anything and everything online and have it brought right to our door…..so who needs you?

  • skylark April 5, 2019, 10:50 am

I laugh every time I see their name. So true,,aptly named !

  • Tom April 5, 2019, 10:45 am

Love may be fleeting and hate may be forevee but Stack’s type of stupid can not be fixed. Any business decision base on emotion and politics is, as liberals like to say, unsustainable.

    • Scott Wiley April 5, 2019, 1:07 pm

To the contrary, that kind of stupid is easily fixed by a Board of Directors that does its duty.

  • George April 5, 2019, 10:33 am

Bye Bye Dicks…..Another business sucked into the Liberal Utopia Sewer….

  • Carl April 5, 2019, 10:20 am

2nd amendment supporters trump all …hope dicks close down soon that’ll teach em

  • Russ April 5, 2019, 10:18 am

I am glad those morons at Dicks think it’s worth it. I hope they lose so much they go out of business. This company is one my family is boycotting. I will buy from Amazon even to keep the money from those dicks at Dicks.

  • Blue's Dad April 5, 2019, 10:12 am

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Serves them right he is a dickhead. Dick’s Sporting sucks anyways there will be no tears shed loosing this crappy store GOODBYE DICK’S HAHAHAHAHAHA What a maniacal ass Edward Stack is.

  • Alan April 5, 2019, 10:10 am

They should probably rename the stores to Dick’s Game Goods…

  • Norm Fishler April 5, 2019, 9:44 am

    Lost $150,000,000.00? Awww-gee stop it . . . You’re breakin’ my heart.

  • Boss April 5, 2019, 9:28 am

I will go to Dicks! I will walk thru to get to the Mall.

If I had a t-shirt that said “Dickless” I’m not sure I’d wear it though.

  • Rick April 5, 2019, 9:12 am

Dick’s is a public company right? I’m shocked a shareholder hasn’t brought a fiduciary claim against the board!!!

    • Jack April 5, 2019, 9:51 am

I sincerely hope they go bankrupt.Obviously,, they have no concern about our 2nd Amendment rights.

  • Brian Beekman April 5, 2019, 9:03 am

This leftest entitlement idiot is correct about something being broken. Unfortunately, he fails to understand that HE and nitwits like him are the problem. Until he stops being part of the problem, the future of places like Dicks will be in question. Get used to it AHOLE, we flyover 2A supporters have a say and can bring corporate elitists to their knees. Keep up the good work Dick.

  • john terpening April 5, 2019, 9:01 am

I purchased a canoe a couple of months back. Dick’s had the lowest price. I bought at Academy. Dickheads think they can buy our business for a few $$$, WRONG!!

    • Michael April 5, 2019, 9:51 am

Good for you! Proud of you! Everyone should take a page from your playbook, and….Put Their Money where Their Mouth Is!

  • BR549 April 5, 2019, 8:57 am

If the “virtue signaling” CEO. Edward Stack, had done any REAL research, instead of responding to his knees jerking up and down, he would have realized that the hate he referred to was actually being promulgated by the very same people who had no respect for the Constitution or the wisdom of the Founding Fathers who wrote it.

Like Stack, these people are in desperate need of psychotherapy. They are blinded by their own feelings of inadequacy. They would rather cater to a crowd of limp-wristed misinformed followers of Hillary and Bernie, two people whose only terms should be served behind bars.

“Love is fleeting. Hate is forever.” Really?
Well, I love my guns and hate incompetent CEOs who needlessly waste stockholders’ investments.

This guy is dumber than a bag of hammers. ………….. but I’ll bet he is STILL hard at work walking back and forth, wearing a hole in the boardroom carpet, and pontificating about his wisdom and virtue. The rest of us understand that as “job security”. Seeing as how the compass needle has now shifted, as the population has been successful in shaking off this “progressive delirium”, (well, for the most part), Stack is now left precariously standing on a single rock at low tide, while the tide is coming in with a vengeance.

  • Adam April 5, 2019, 8:52 am

Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of assholes…or Dicks. I used to enjoy going to this store, for a wide array of sporting goods, not just guns. Im buying a new set of golf clubs this spring, I’ll gladly be spending my money elsewhere. Good luck with the “buycott”, can’t wait to watch you get your dick dragged through the dirt. I know I’m not the only hunter/sport shooter out there that is actively engaged in numerous other outdoor activities. I hope you all do the same and spend your money where it is appreciated and with a vendor that still believes in the constitution.

  • Bubba April 5, 2019, 8:49 am

Field and Stream is a beautiful store, and, at least in my area, has good employees. They should split off F&S so real men can shop there, and leave Dick’s to become a liberal wussiland.

  • joefoam April 5, 2019, 8:26 am

Have fun explaining that amount of money lost to the shareholders.

  • Frank T April 5, 2019, 8:23 am

Dick’s can 5oXX Dick. I won’t shop there even if they paid me. Thank God there are enough gun friendly stores around in MI to give $$ to.

  • Jay April 5, 2019, 8:22 am

Since the anti Americans and anti gunners don’t have the balls to move into a county that supports their views and think because they have money can force their views on to the rest of us. We The People must do everything in our power to boycott their idiocy and chicken shit ways and hurt their pockets which is the only thing they understand! United we stand, divide we fall!

  • Cody April 5, 2019, 8:21 am

This is great news lets hope Dick’s sales continue to plummet so hard, even Viagra can’t get ’em back up.

  • Anthony Formica April 5, 2019, 8:18 am

Shopped at these stores for many years, as did my family, for firearms, hunting related supplies, clothing, exercise equipment, etc. Many thousands of dollars over the years. This decision will not hamper those of ill or deviant mind from carrying out deviant acts. Idle hands, ill minds always do the devils work. It is the nature of the being. A good person never has mindset to harm others, and as with this company’s mindset, is punnished for other’s ill thinking. We have all stopped shopping at any of these stores, and as a large segment of the hunting community will likely do the same. Without the Second Amendment, all the other Amendments are worthless and come crumbling down. True Americans whom suffered many a hardship for our Country, and the freedom that so many can enjoy.

  • Carl Bruhn April 5, 2019, 8:16 am

Remember Dick’s lost 150 million. We still spent our money in other stores that fundamentally support our 2nd. The Gap is larger than you think. The other stores are growing stronger with our support. Everytime I am in Academy sports or Sportsman’s Warehouse I am hurting Dick’s one purchase at time.

  • Kevin April 5, 2019, 8:07 am

    “Don’t be a dick!”

  • Ed DeSoignie April 5, 2019, 8:07 am

I’ve found Dicks’s to be one of those companies whose focus is not on the customer. So their decisions seem to be solely arrived at the upper level of the management, with total disregard of what their customers want. Personally, not shopping at Dick’s, is an easy decision to make and follow.

  • stuntdeacons April 5, 2019, 8:02 am

Al those who are banning Dicks need to Ban field and stream too.
    They’re owned by the same.

  • Willie-O April 5, 2019, 7:57 am

Personally I’m damn sick and tired of this pc bullshit. These companies and their “good corporate citizen” crap and jumping into politics in the process. Dick’s, Levi’s, Nike…..as well as countless others – may they all reap the rewards of their positions and policies. Hope they all have to close their doors as a result.

  • Patrick Colahan April 5, 2019, 7:47 am

It is wonderful to have conviction and to stand up to your beliefs. But to do it with hardworking people (Stockholders) money is another thing.
I would say that they are extremely irresponsible in their duty to the company and by company I mean the stockholders of the company. When Dick went public they lost any personal rights, they made a commitment to the people to build their company and benefit their investors.
What I believe they have done could boarder on criminal.

  • Richard April 5, 2019, 7:46 am

never felt welcome @ their Madison Tenn. store. Dumb asses @ gun counter acted as if they knew about firearms but failed to practice accepted safety procedures. One guy didn’t know the difference between a 10-22 and a Rem 700 or 22lrs and 223s. These folks must not understand Little League coaches, golfers and kayakers are also hunters.
Reminds me of a national retailer I once worked for. That retailer was afraid of losing the bra and girdle trade. Now that retailer is closing stores.
These Dicks locations could be converted to junk salvage stores

  • Gary April 5, 2019, 7:38 am

well Dicks looks like karma is catching up to you and your stock holders. suck it up big boy this is what you asked for. I do hope you go under. asshole.

  • Jack MATTHEUS April 5, 2019, 7:27 am

It seems to me that the problem at Dick’s is not just the activist CEO but also his Board and management team. For me I’m done with Dick’s.

Additionally, while watching a bass fishing tournament recently I see that the major sponsor is Dick’s. Since most bass fishermen are also hunters they are also protective of guns rights. For me, as long as Dick’s sponsors that organization’s events, I am dropping my membership.

  • Alan April 5, 2019, 7:24 am

Sales down $150 million. I maybe call that a fair start. We need to keep going until Dick’s is totally limp.

  • Michael Ellison April 5, 2019, 7:23 am

I can no longer buy shooting related materials from Dick’s, which means I won’t be there to also buy shoes, socks, shirts, hats, glasses, golf equipment, knives, tent, cooler, soccer balls, basketball goal, or exercise equipment. It is going to be more than 1.7% when it all shakes out. Good job Dick’s. The last freedom we have in the U. S. is where we spend our money.

  • David S April 5, 2019, 7:22 am

My dear Dicks I have never seen or heard of a gun being arrested or prosecuted for killing someone could maybe a person have pulled the trigger ? Quit being a DICK !!

  • Mike April 5, 2019, 7:21 am

Your store name say’s it all.

  • Nomoredicks April 5, 2019, 7:20 am

I used to go to Dick’s to buy sporting equipment for my kid and golf equipment for me. On occasion I think I bought some ammunition and I purchased a couple of hunting blinds.
I wouldn’t set foot in any of their stores if my life depended on it.
The miscalculation by the Insurance Company Liberal cum Sporting goods CEO is clueless about his cutomer base. At some point the stockholders will be done putting up with his nonsense. They better hurry before it is too late.

    • Alan April 5, 2019, 7:27 am

It is already too late. The board did not stop this nonsense on day one so they are all at fault.

  • mike April 5, 2019, 6:49 am

Prices to high I bought a gun sleeve at Walmart for half the price that is just one thing

  • David April 5, 2019, 6:24 am

So far they have lost 150 million because of their anti-gun decision, but for what? Crime has not gone down, and it isn’t a one time hit. They lost that customer base, and to even consider dropping their whole hunting line sends a signal they don’t care. The last time I went to a Dick’s Sporting goods store was because I was killing time at a mall. I thought I’d see how they were doing. A person would have been hard pressed to find a sales person if they wanted to, and I was one of the few “customers” in the store. I looked around the sporting goods area, not just shooting supplies but boating, clothing, and fishing goods. In 20 minutes not one person , employee or customer, was to be found! Stack can stuck by his principles, but no store can hang on forever like that. So when he says “it was worth it”, just what does he mean? Those sympathetic to the 2nd amendment did not give up their love of sport, they just spend their money elsewhere now!

  • Poggy April 5, 2019, 6:12 am

Anti-gun people are also anti-capitalist, and this shows the anti-capitalists do not shop at places like dick’s.
Looks like dicks needs a new CEO?

    • Rod R April 5, 2019, 10:20 am

Even with a new CEO, nobody should ever do business with Dick’s/Field and Stream again. The message needs to be clear. Bring politics into a business, expect PERMANENT damage to the brand.

  • Carlos Hathcock April 5, 2019, 6:12 am

Run from the gun. It will kill you. People won’t, but gun’s will.

  • Ricky D. April 5, 2019, 6:08 am

I will never shop there any more… that’s for sure…..

  • Rod R April 5, 2019, 5:57 am

1.7% isn’t nearly good enough. Definitely not enough to worry a CEO or investors. Hopefully after the artificial anti-gun supporter’s buycott fizzles out, larger drops are seen in revenue.

What is really important for the pro-gun masses, is to continue boycotting Dick’s/Field and Stream even if Stack realizes his blunder, and flips back. A clear message must be sent. We won’t forget. Even if he moves to sell AR’s at ridiculously low prices, DO NOT BUY from his companies. Only then will CEOs and investors truly understand what it means to mix their political activism with their businesses.

    • srsquidizen April 5, 2019, 8:35 am

I agree with most of your comments, but a 1.7% drop in gross sales (much higher impact on bottom-line profit) should be cause for concern since the economy is definitely not in a recession. It is being whitewashed by a political activist anti-gun CEO that I would vote to sack if I were a stockholder (thankfully I’m not). Bloomberg’s minions won’t be able to infuse enough “buycott” Viagra into Dick’s to keep it erect and IMO a well-deserved Chapter 11 awaits eventually. CEO Stack will have already taken his golden parachute before that happens.

      • Jorge Garcia April 5, 2019, 10:41 am

This is classic take my followers to the cleaners scenario, this, what all of you call idiot, is nothing but, he will drop a bunch of millions that don’t belong to him to begin with, and move on to a Pelosi or Obama position somewhere, where he can continue to reap the cash, with his Dick where he intended it to place it from the get go, right over his balls, and inside his shareholders, and maybe even write a book. this is classical American greed at its finest. and furthermore, what makes this country so great, do I dislike this guy? Not sure, I don’t know him personally, Do I hate him? Not really, I don’t own stock in the company and never did like it, or shop there, do I admire him? HELL YEAH! This is one smart SOB that is milking an agenda that is blind sighting this country and on someone else’s dime, one smart son of a bitch, whether you all like him or not.

    • Jim G April 5, 2019, 8:36 am

I agree fully, but we need to go one step further. We all need to keep or start chastising our freinds and relatives for going to or buying anything at Dicks. If you belong to any hunting forums or clubs voice you opinion about Dicks and make people feel ashamed for shopping there. It works.

  • Dr. Strangelove April 5, 2019, 5:54 am

Sales have been soft since Dick’s pulled out and they’re facing some stiff competition.

    • Big John April 5, 2019, 9:21 am

ROFLMAO…funniest comment of the year, hats off to Dr. Strangelove!

  • Gary April 5, 2019, 5:50 am

This is a classic case of a CEO with an ego to big to admit his mistake. It will become more glaring when Dick’s goes down further and further and it will become to late to save the chain.

  • Vash454 April 5, 2019, 5:49 am

“Love is fleeting. Hate is forever,” Stack said.

Don’t worry, DICK’S – You have now have thousands of people that will hate your corporation forever.
    So, looks like right.
    Good job DICK’S!

    • Mark Klusmeier April 5, 2019, 7:53 am

I don’t know about any of you, but I don’t HATE Dick’s. This isn’t about hating anyone. It’s about my LOVE for FREEDOM and the assurance that, if my government gets too far out of line and becomes destructive of the rights (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) that it’s created to protect, I have the right (so says the Declaration of Independence) AND the ability (thanks to the Second Amendment) to alter or abolish it. Stack is wrong when he says Love is fleeting; hate is forever. Hate is exhausting; it wears you out and depresses you. Nobody can hate forever. Love, on the other hand IS forever. It’s uplifting and encouraging, and keeps you going when things are tough. Those of us who are no longer shopping at or otherwise supporting Dick’s love freedom; that’s why we do what we do!

      • Michael April 5, 2019, 10:14 am

Thru the toughest of times….Greater Love hath no man than this…….You ARE correct, sir. USMC RVN

      • Chris April 5, 2019, 4:38 pm

One of the hardest things I’ve learned as a Christian is that we are supposed to love everyone, regardless of whether we like them of not. Love means wanting what’s best for them. So like you, I cannot hate these people but they are clearly not aware of what is best for them. Hopefully they will come to their senses and stop what they’re doing and start doing what’s right.
Led Zeppelin said it quite well in their song “Stairway to Heaven” along towards the later half of the song they sing “There’s still time to change the road you’re on”.
Hopefully they will change the road they’re on.

  • Darcie c. April 5, 2019, 5:47 am

I couldn’t be happier, hopefully ignorant people can learn, left communists.

  • Christopher Chason April 5, 2019, 5:39 am

Dicks, Levis and all the others in that cabal can have a wonderful Going Out of Biz Sale! We The People do not need them!

  • Mike Groft April 5, 2019, 4:49 am

Piss on DICK spotting goods, who the hell needs them. Will go to Sportsman Warehouse, better than DICKS anyway, for REAL sportsman!!

  • pjw April 5, 2019, 3:56 am

May the owner of Dicks Sporting Goods company enjoy continued financial loss, as long as he continues to demonize shooting sports and gun owners.

  • Richard April 5, 2019, 3:26 am

It’s the employees and the stock holders that pay for bad decisions such as this from CEO’s that are too arrogant to admit they were wrong. I think we’ll hear more about Stacks and Dicks in the future, but it won’t be because kayak sales went through the roof. Pro NRA and 2A.

  • BUURGA April 5, 2019, 2:52 am

What ‘system’ doesn’t work? What is this ego-maniac talking about? The only system this nut is affected are the stockholders.

  • Andrea Daley Utronebel April 2, 2019, 4:00 pm

A sports store banning manly guns is like a lingerie store banning bras.

    • Christopher Chason April 5, 2019, 5:36 am

      GREAT POINT!
      Well stated!
