A 61-year-old disabled veteran was forced to fight for his life last week as four men armed with guns invaded his secluded home in north-central Florida.

Police say the man was found with a gunshot wound to his stomach and an AR-15 across his legs. One of the intruders had already died, another would die at the hospital later that day, and two more were arrested shortly after the incident. The homeowner was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to local media reports.

One of the homeowner’s neighbors, June Samuels, told WCJB that the attack could have been premeditated days before the incident.

“I told the police before that on the weekend I saw a car, a newer car, Volkswagen car that they had reversed into a lot that’s empty next door. I saw it for two days and my neighbors said they saw it prior to that so this was not just a random act on their part,” Samuels said.

According to the police report, detectives did find a black Volkswagen parked near the residences and registered to one of the intruders.

“And the point is that what happened could happen anywhere, is what I want to stress. There’s nothing wrong with the neighborhood, it’s the people who came from another neighborhood,” Samuels said.

The intruders were identified as 21-year-old Keith Jackson Jr., 22-year-old Nigel Doyle, 22-year-old Seth Adam Rodriguez, and 19-year-old Robert John Hamilton.

Police found Jackson dead in the dining room, wearing gloves and a Jason mask, and lying beside a handgun with the slide locked to the rear, according to Village News. Doyle was found lying outside the home beside a pump-action shotgun. He was transported to a local hospital but died later that day.

Deputy Austin Coon and K-9 Deputy Alberto Gago, with his dog Nitro, found Rodriguez and Hamilton less than a mile away, according to arrest reports obtained by OCALA. Rodriguez was hiding in tall grass on the side of the road.

Rodriguez claims Doyle and Jackson had planned to rob the home for guns and marijuana. He also told police that Hamilton kicked down the front door while Jackson and Doyle rushed inside, according to OCALA. Hamilton denies the claim, telling police he got out of the car before the robbery and walked down the street.

Rodriguez was arrested on charges of murder and home invasion robbery with a firearm. Hamilton faces home invasion robbery with a firearm.

The homeowner told police that about an hour before the incident he discovered a man knocking on his front door and peering into his windows. He said he vaguely recognized the man from a previous Craigslist transaction. The man claimed he needed help with his car, but the homeowner said he was disabled and asked the man to go away.

The homeowner went to bed but was awakened by a loud noise. He grabbed the AR-15 he keeps beside his bed and shot at two individuals, one of whom was wearing a mask and pointing a gun at him.

The homeowner lives on a 20-acre lot with a gate about 300 yards away from the home.

Valeria Strong, a Public Information Officer with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, encouraged residents to be careful about online transactions and never meet at home.

“When you do anything online, it’s very important to be vigilant on the people you are doing transactions with and we recommend doing it in a public space to make sure no one knows where your home is,” she said.

Sage advice to the still living…from the justifiably eliminated:
“It’s terribly rude, amazingly stupid, and certifiably retarded to stalk, threaten and or attack an old, greyhaired American warrior vet…most especially a wounded/damaged one.”
    FYI…. We just don’t give a f***k anymore. 🙂

Criminals do not have a party affiliation. Either they do not care or are felons and can’t vote. I am not an (R) and own many firearms. Stupid post

Felons can vote in many communities controlled by Democrats. Can serve on Juries too

  • Marcus Pena July 25, 2019, 3:51 am

In Oregan not too long ago is a great example of how important the 2nd amendment is. Why our founding fathers put it in there. This is a real quick break down of what took place. The governer tries to force a vote because his party had an advantage they were the democrats. The only recourse the republicans had was to not attend. The Governor ordered them to be rounded up and brought to the meeting so he would have the quorum to pass his bill threw. The only way it would have made it through. Civilians took up arms and protected the senators. Police did not want to take on 1000 armed civilians. There were enough civilians armed protecting the Senators that police stood down. This happen10 or 20 years ago.

    • J d September 28, 2019, 10:28 pm

Your story is false narrative. The incident happened this year, the Governor is a woman, Kate Brown, a Democrat. The rest is basically true.

  • Mikial July 20, 2019, 11:06 pm

An excellent example of why citizens need guns like an AR. Easy to use and shoot, even for small stature people, the elderly and the disabled. Minimum recoil, good ammo capacity, accurate. The Democrats would have us all disarmed and helpless so their voters can rob and kill at will. They care more about the criminals than the victims.

they even look like scum sad to say but in a catastrophic event like Katrina disaster it will prudent to be armed and on red alert when you see these guys. I am not sure what you do when they see you and start walking in your direction but to-be sure your life is in danger. What you do is run, but if you can’t well good luck.

If the old fella was living off of limited income he could have been selling a little weed to be able to live better,we don’t know that it is a wild guess at this point any freakin way if a couple or few scumbags try to rob him he has the right to defend himself , that is the bottom line !!!!

  • Patrick McWilliams July 19, 2019, 2:56 pm

Just saw a “true crime” show recounting a Florida case in which a man killed a woman in her home for $100 worth of jewelry. The perp escaped the death penalty because the medical examiner testified the victim had probably died instantly and didn’t “suffer”. What more irrelevant argument could anyone offer? As far as I’m concerned, that “doctor” is complicit in the crime.

  • ronzo July 19, 2019, 2:45 pm

I could not handle no more NEG stories , A vet protecting his property no matter what it was & his life, you people turn it around & let 4 people come in on you & you could have family What the F### would you do? Think about IT!!! Ronzo,

  • Kevin McLean July 19, 2019, 2:26 pm

4 armed guys with guns against one older rural homeowner & the dumbos in government want to limit the size of the magazines you can legally own. Would have been a sad story if the vet only had a 5 round magazine.

Hard to tell but they said in the report one of the intruders automatics had its slide locked back (empty?). Might have been an actual firefight.

  • Bobs your uncle July 19, 2019, 2:24 pm

When I hear a story like this a few things come to mind, first, it makes the case for high capacity magazines, if you are up against multiple armed assailants, second it clearly shows the need and utility of an AR style firearm. It appears to be a drug deal gone bad, if thats the case, being armed would be a really good idea judging from the charming clientele

I ‘ve been to Marion County,FL many times in my life. It is very rural, with a lot of large horse ranches, farms etc. The area he lived in it is not as hard as you think to own a 20 acre property. If you worked hard all your life, any blue collar worker can afford a home. North Central ,FL is extremely affordable. I know many friends&family that have retired to Florida and I am amazed how affordable things are there. It is a nice area. Like any town, there are always bad apples, and the city of Ocala, a few ,miles away, has more than their share of thugs like those 4. this is an excellent that the armed homeowner ,stopped a crime, and saved him own life .
I would congratulate myself when he gets out of the hsospital,if I lived nearby.

  • Mark P July 19, 2019, 11:21 am

This Vet may have saved innocent lives. If police had stopped the perpenter’s car, not knowing there were 4 armed guys inside, police and innocent bystanders may have died instead.

        Racist much?

      • Carl Adams July 19, 2019, 3:33 pm

This comment has just expressed the high level of ignorance some people possess! President Lincoln had absolutely nothing to do with any type of communist progressivism. The American Civil War broke out in April 1861. The Emancipation Proclamation (Presidential Proclamation 95) was issued by President Lincoln on 1 January 1863. Proclamation 95 changed the status of over three million slaves from slave to free within the USA. Then in April 1865 President Lincoln was assassinated and twenty-four days later the American Civil War ended. So then, how did President Lincoln ‘start’ communist progressivism in 1865 when he worked to unify a divided nation and free over three million people? Again, President Lincoln had absolutely nothing to do with any type of communist progressivism…and most especially in 1865.

  • Bob Stewart July 19, 2019, 10:53 am

A couple of thoughts, when I was a kid and went to summer camp one of the activities was shooting a 22. All of us went through the safety stuff and got to shoot 2 rounds. If you weren’t behaving and in a safe frame of mind you did not get to shoot. Point being we were taught to respect guns. Given how many gang bangers and what not go around shooting I wonder if it would be better to take kids out and teach them what guns can do so they learn to respect them. It seems they really do not know the power that they wield and it is all a game to them.
The 2nd thought is as long as going into a store and buying a firearm is harder than going into a store and buying a dozen eggs then our 2nd amendment rights have been infringed. That includes all firearms; there was a machinegun prototype in 1720, and merchants owned literally boatloads of cannons. So that amendment covers them as well as rifles and handguns.

    • G.O.A. Patriot July 19, 2019, 1:22 pm

I concur on every word in your comment wholeheartedly!!! Our founding fathers intended for citizens to be able own any weapon the military possesses! When my kids were small I taught them how devastating a firearm can be by shooting a groundhog raiding our garden in the head with a .17 HMR hollow point round. It left a very small hole in the entry side and totally blew the entire other side its head off! They understood it wasn’t a toy after that and I then taught them how to shoot with a semi auto .22 rifle.

    • Bert Jr July 19, 2019, 2:26 pm

You forgot the the words “well regulated” are in the amendment. I hope it will always be harder to buy a gun than any amount of eggs.

      • Gary Kretsinger July 20, 2019, 9:53 am

Your interpretation of “well regulated” In the context of the Second Amendment is incorrect. The phrase refers to a well trained or well ordered militia, it does not mean “subject to extensive government regulations”. I agree with you to a point; felons and mentally unstable individuals with dangerous tendencies should not be able to purchase guns. The problem is how to do that effectively without infringing on the rights of the vast majority of purchasers who are both law-abiding and sane.

      • Jimbo July 21, 2019, 10:37 am

“Well regulated” refers to the way armies fought in colonial days – in regulated straight lines. That is impossible with pitchforks, clubs, and torches. The founding fathers knew there were many reasons citizens should keep and bear arms. But defending “the state” (nation / community) angaist threats like invading foreign armies, indian tribes, etc. was the most important reason. So they listed that reason at the beginning of the 2nd Amendment. Now what is a “militia”? It was not something formed by a government body. It is something people put together, with their own weapons. The founding fathers didn’t want a standing army that could oppress the people. They had just fought a war against their own government. They knew how evil governments could become.. They weren’t certain the government they created with the Constitution could be trusted. During the revolution, they fought the redcoats with the assault weapon of the day, the musket. They would not have prevailed without weapons as deadly as the redcoats possessed. So I’m certain they would not approve of restrictions on the weapons Americans can possess.

    • Don Richardson July 19, 2019, 2:39 pm

You are so correct about our second amendment being infringed. I’m old enough to have seen it. When I was 20 I went into the local Kmart, saw a Colt 45 National Match Gold Cup model on display. It was used and I bought it for $175. Also bought a box of ammo. The guy at the counter took my money, slipped the gun and ammo in a bag and handed it to me. Then I walked out. No different than buying a candy bar (well, it cost a bit more).
      Try that today.

  • Dave July 19, 2019, 10:35 am

This “disabled” vet must have been a GENERAL to be able to afford to live on a 20 acre gated property in Florida. Nobody getting a disability check could afford a spread like that. And WTF was he doing with marijuana ? The article said …”Rodriguez claims Doyle and Jackson had planned to rob the home for guns and marijuana” How did they KNOW that he had marijuana (even medical marijuana) ??? Sounds like he was selling more than a gas grill or 8 track tapes on CRAIGSLIST. Something sounds fishy here.

    • michael July 19, 2019, 11:07 am

Whmmm – where did you get the idea he lived in a “gated” property (as in a “gated” community)? To me it sounds like the vet lives on a rural, 20-acre tract of land, with a “gate” at the entrance of his dirt or gravel road that leads back to where his house is. And you assume he is getting a “disability check?”. Why? Maybe he receives a disability check received for injuries he received while serving in the military. Or a retirement check? I sell things periodically using CraigsList – that doesn’t indicate I am doing anything illegal. This sounds like these four dirt bags bought something from this fellow, saw that he lived alone in a secluded area, and decided they could take advantage of the old fellow. They got more than they bargained for. Too bad he didn’t shoot the other two as well.

      • Irish-7 July 19, 2019, 5:47 pm

I had a similar thought, that perhaps the homeowner was a military retiree and a disabled veteran. He may be receiving Social Security Disability benefits as well. Those 3 incomes would be sufficient to buy property.

    • David July 19, 2019, 11:11 am

      Dave,
Central Florida can be very inexpensive. You can get 20 acres for well under $100G today and he could have bought it 20 years ago when it was less than 50K. Many disabled vets work to supplement their income. Then there is the possibility that he has money from family.

He said one of the guys looked familiar and could have been to his house before for a Craigslist transaction. Medical Mary Jane is legal in FL. He is a disabled vet so he may have had it for medical reasons and he could have had signs of it laying around when he made the original transaction.

All of your so called fishy things have numerous plausible answers so before you go accusing some guy that got shot up of being a dealer, maybe just stop.

    • dave July 19, 2019, 11:33 am

Time out! Use your brain . They went into the house for guns and marijuana.Maybe they were mistaken, and he did not have any grass in his house. As for the twenty acres of land,he,s intitled to own land, and also be a general.Your sympathies seem to be in the wrong area. Get a life!! The man acted lawfully and defended his life and property. There,s not a damned thing wrong with that!

    • Daddio7 July 19, 2019, 12:28 pm

I am a vet, I am disabled, I own property, the three of them are not related. I was drafted and served my time, Navy for me. I worked and obtained some property and then I became disabled. Anyone breaking into my home would be met with a hail of 9MM.

    • Jack Grenan July 19, 2019, 6:13 pm

OH MY GOD HE HAD MARY WANNA????? SO WHAT! WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE STORY? Dr Jack Grenan cancer survivor

    • No1hunter July 19, 2019, 7:46 pm

Gee Dave, maybe you should join the military and get disabled before complaining about him. He deserves 20 acers of land to live on more than a jerk like you!!!

    • Jaque July 20, 2019, 12:47 am

Your an idiot who clearly hasnt a clue of real estate costs in rural F!orida. Its also possib!e he inherited the property but thats nobodys business but his. So what if a disabled Vet is using weed but again thats not known either The story was about dropping bad guys conducting an armed robbery, not a drug deal gone bad.

    • Loretta Wood July 20, 2019, 8:49 pm

Marijuana claims were made by the perps. Not factual news. And if you served in the military, were disabled and independent, it’s perfectly feasible to own a small plot of land. And his right to. He deserves to be left alone. Cudos to you, sir. For protecting your home, property, and your life. And teaching a lesson to other wanna-be theives in your community.

    • Eric Holder July 20, 2019, 11:15 pm

After such an incident his property would be considered a crime scene and a warrant would be obtained to search for evidence as SOP. I did not read anything about the Police recovering any illegal drugs or marijuana at his property. Hard to tell and make judgements based on a internet story but it seems people are jumping to a lot of conclusions about a drug deal gone wrong.

  • david huckabee July 19, 2019, 10:23 am

  • Dash July 19, 2019, 10:07 am

OH NO… those two precious lives were undoubtedly underprivileged marginalized victims of the white man’s oppressive racism, and now they’ve become victims of a hateful white man possessing a military-grade machine gun that should have been outlawed and confiscated years ago.

Additionally, the hateful man should not have a gate on his property, instead he should have invited them in, offered the victimized youth food, money, marijuana, and tried to counsel them so that they have a chance at a better life.

It’s all true for sure, just ask AOC, Talib, Omar, Harris, Booker, Biden, Warren, Bernie, etc, etc, etc..

  • B Dubb July 19, 2019, 10:03 am

Net positive when neerdowells like these clowns go ambient temp- but AR15 still does not need to exist- and in 99.9% of cases is a terrible home defense weapon.
In other words, for me the risks- Las Vegas, and all the others- absolutely outweigh the very rare cases where that platform helped.

    • Michael R Stuhr July 19, 2019, 10:44 am

Don’t like them? Well you don’t have to own one.
Looks like it worked pretty well for this home owner.
You don’t think law abiding Americans should have access to semi automatic technology for defense of home or country? How sad. Sad and hoplophobic.

      • J. D. September 28, 2019, 11:13 pm

Would that be “Hopolophobic”? Just asking..

    • Robert Mccallum July 19, 2019, 10:54 am

It’s very clear you know NOTHING and firearms.. An AR is a great home defense platform.. pistol and shotgun rounds , even hollow points can go through numerous walls when the target is missed.. they also can’t penetrate body armor.. a 5.56 breaks apart in only a couple walks of Sheetrock because it’s going so fast, it will also penetrate soft body armor should a bad guy be wearing it.. but don’t believe me.. research it and educate yourself.. then you won’t look so ignorant

    • Don Richardson July 19, 2019, 2:50 pm

@ B Dubb … You gotta be kidding. It certainly sounds like the AR did ok for the guy holding it. Most military folks are trained to use rifles and millions of people own them. They must have some attraction. Personally I like my model ’94 lever action 30-30 carbine but perhaps that is a bit kinky to some. My 44 mag revolver works ok too. I believe that the best gun for self-defense is the one in your hand.

    • KimberproSS July 19, 2019, 4:28 pm

I was reading these posts and enjoying the comments until you came along. You obviously don’t own an AR15 nor do you have a good grounding in reality. I learned years ago that anyone, especially a politician that states statistics is a liar. Figures lie and liars figure. Have you ever killed a human, or even shot at one? I haven’t, and I won’t, unless forced to protect myself. Why? Because I am not mentally ill. Anyone who premeditates mass murder will do what they need to get what they need to perpetuate the crime, regardless of the laws of the land, since murder is the greatest crime. Therefore, Las Vegas will still happen, regardless of the laws, and the AR15 is the greatest self protection weapon. In a high stress scenario, a long gun will trump a handgun any day, and a shotgun would probably be best in a urban environment because the walls would slow the projectiles to less than lethal as the penetrate the sheet rock. This gentleman living in what appears to be the middle of 20 acres had no worry of collateral damage, so he had the best defense. Now, go back to the DNC headquarters.

    • Matt498 July 19, 2019, 4:37 pm

The “no need for an ar15” argument is silly. Using even Biden’s foolish argument of a double barrel 12ga being the best option, realize this. A typical ar15 with 30 round magazine of 223 shoot a 22 caliber round and requires 30 trigger pulls to dispense all 30 rounds. Using a 3 inch 12ga double with typical 00buck often holding fifteen 32 caliber round pellets in each shell, politician Biden only has to pull the trigger twice to send 30 much larger bullets down range.
The anti AR argument is emotional bs and a slippery slope. How soon behind would double barrel shotguns be on the banned list.
Its not the gun … Its the hand holding the gun.

    • Alan October 3, 2019, 1:40 pm

To BDubb or should it be VW?

Your well meaning comment lacks so much common sense I am appalled that you made it.

I have never seen nor heard of an AR type weapon killing any person. Nor any weapon for that matter.
As in a vehicular homicide, it’s the loose nut behind the wheel.

I don’t like VW’s but I don’t believe they should have no place on earth because of the many that have died from being mangled by one.

As in the case of any weapon, or car, or knife etc. none will kill on its own accord.

So rethink your logic. I partially agree that the AR is not the perfect weapon for home defense nor is any other weapon type. Each situation calls for a certain reaction.

The home owner in this case found it quite satisfactory.

      Rest easy.

      Alan

  • Karey Keel July 19, 2019, 10:00 am

I agree, too bad he didn’t get all 4. How many tax $ will be wasted getting these lame ass thugs legal representation and a court trial? That money could by a lot of ammo!!! Vigilante justice!!

  • ob July 19, 2019, 9:50 am

The Vet is truly a hero. Two dead and two off the streets for a long time! Had the Vet not had the AR the ending would not have been good. I would just say don’t conduct transactions on Craigs List period.

  • Silverbullet July 19, 2019, 9:50 am

Guess there welfare ck wouldnt pay for there drugs. If you want to live dont steal . Is to bad the other two didnt get shot , so they would have at least suffered like the homeowner.

  • Gerald Cuvillier July 19, 2019, 9:32 am

    If Obama had four sons….

    • Richard File July 19, 2019, 11:14 am

This has nothing to do with Obama. It’s simply some punks getting what was coming to them.

    • Dan July 19, 2019, 1:42 pm

Yeah, he maybe a racist, you dumbfuk! Racist and alive to send back to hell some anti-white Orcs, like you!

  • Captain of Infantry July 19, 2019, 9:26 am

The police officer should have said “Arm yourselves and be prepared to protect your own life and the lives of those that you love. There is not greater right than that.”. Instead, she essentially admonished the homeowner.

If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch a lot of movies online. One good one is a documentary about a Californian, totally ignorant of firearms, who moves to Idaho. This fellow was/is a movie director, and one of his movies was ‘Unstoppable’. He wants to own a firearm, goes and gets some good advice, tries out a whole bunch of guns, hand and long guns, and he and his wife end up with AR15’s. Now there’s a Californian that would be welcome in any red state. AR’s are just a great platform to work with and shoot, so many things you can get for them, change around, play with, it’s an adult Lego set. There are a ton of great documentaries and info shows on all kinds of firearms available with Amazon Prime online.

  • joey July 19, 2019, 8:55 am

well what do people expect if you are being a street thug and breaking in peoples homes with guns if you dont expect to get shot than your as dumb as they come . this day and time people are tired of taking crap off these young teens and adults if you are dumb enough to break into a home with a gun then you are intending on doing harm or take a life and if it was my home id do the same i would shoot to kill for the fact your in my family home where we lay our heads feel safe and just that alone should tell someone hey stupid if you break in a home there is a 75% chance you not going to make it out and if these thugs cant get that then i hate it you should go ahead and steal you a casket and grave sight while your at it

Period, comma, exclamation point, more periods and commas…

  • BR549 July 19, 2019, 8:51 am

Hey Jordan, what do you mean, “No Charges for Man who Shot Teen Intruders with AR-15?” They should just given the veteran a medal and that would eliminate the need to even discuss Big Brother condescendingly deciding not to press charges.

Also, under Florida statute 825.102, I would have added two more felony counts against the creeps. In Florida, Elder abuse can just be a third degree felony, but where psychological or physical injury, it becomes a first degree felony. Since it is also considered abuse with the victim being over 60 and also being disabled, I suspect that would be two more felonies for each of these two dirtbags.

The stupid face tattoo on the thug to the right needs to be erased also.

22-year-old Seth Adam Rodriguez (left) and 19-year-old Robert John Hamilton will most likely be let go on their own recognizance.

I’m not so sure about this. It is Florida, not Chicago, and the State’s Attorney is not Kim Foxx.

“Now get yourself a double Barrel shotgun. Step outside and shoot once in the air. That will scare off anyone that’s around house. “

    Stupid

    • Eric Holder July 20, 2019, 11:22 pm

Yes Biden is an idiot and you recall it exactly the same as I do. Well done!

Someone should thank this vet 2 times, first for his service to his country and second for taking out two human rats polluting America.

  • Jim July 19, 2019, 7:47 am

4 more scumbags off of the streets, and for a certainty 1 life saved because of a black rifle. Never hear about this one from N. Pelosi!

    • Nick July 19, 2019, 9:58 am

Sadly enough the two who survived will likely serve minimal time and be out to reoffend in less than 5 years. You can thank our failing judicial system for that. Yet Democrats want to disarm our citizens so we have no way to protect ourselves a lot of good that will do when criminals don’t give a shit about the laws.

  • Rod Smalt July 19, 2019, 7:34 am

A pity only two body bags were needed.

    • Rick July 19, 2019, 9:37 am

HI RICK–I think that the Vet did what Texas law requires. I don’t know what FL law is. He seems to have shot the 2 incoming perps who were armed and were immediate mortal threats to him. Shooting the fleeing (unarmed ?) perps would probably have gotten him into deep doo-doo since they were no longer threats to him. Might have gotten him a civil suit to lose also.
        ***
It’s a police matter at that point. And the FL cop and his dog rounded up the 2 surviving perps quickly. Great work by the police in this case!

I saw no less than 3 articles on this website involving armed robberies in which the victims had saved their lives with an AR style weapon in defense of their personal safety at home. Now I CHALLENGE all those DemoSocialists to find a sensible argument for THOSE people not wanting to die in THEIR homes before y’all make total asses of yourselves trying to tear down this great country!!

No, wait, y’all have already done that, at least the TOTAL ASSES part, so why don’t y’all just go back to your playpens on the Hill and leave the Constitution alone????

  • Old OutdoorsGuy July 19, 2019, 7:10 am

There are no less than 3 different articles on this website this morning involving armed robberies and AR style weapons used to defend the homeowners. I would challenge all of those Social-Dems, who are striving to bring this country down, to contact any of these people and ask THEM how THEY feel about taking away THEIR guns ………. before y’all make total fools of yourselves.

Wait, I”m sorry, y’all have already DONE THAT, or at least the TOTAL FOOLS part, sorry to bother you. OK, you may go back to your cages with the other low lifes on the HILL …..

  • Jay July 19, 2019, 6:36 am

My only question is , why did they want to rob the residence for marijuana ? Did they see it in the home on the previous craigslist encounter. The guns i understand . What did he/they buy from him before this ? ( i generally meet Craigslist people at a nearby grocery parking lot , that has cameras).

    • Maha July 19, 2019, 4:33 pm

Perhaps they just said that. Perhaps the vet, like many, has chronic pain, and finds it help him, and these punks saw evidence of it when they scouted his place with the Craigslist ploy.

  • Marvin Corbin July 19, 2019, 6:32 am

To bad the Vet did not get all four of them.

  • Joe July 19, 2019, 6:30 am

This is why all internet transactions should not be carried out at your home but in hailing distance of a police department.

  • MR PATRIOT July 19, 2019, 5:39 am

    TO bad that two lived

  • Roller derby July 19, 2019, 5:34 am

    The usual suspects

  • John July 19, 2019, 5:24 am

So the neighbors saw this car multiple times casing the neighborhood, reported it to police, and nothing happened as far as patrolling the area. And the brain dead detective says what happened could happen anyplace as the perps weren’t from the area. Hello asshole, what happened could have been prevented had your police force done their job and increase patrols in the area. What a fucking asshole. The folks who lived there told your department that a strange car, black VW, was roaming the area. Black VW was found and belonged to one of the perps. Stupidity abounds even in the police today.

    • Larry Ciejka July 19, 2019, 9:09 am

The police were too busy getting their stats from “low hanging fruit” – to wit: traffic tickets. Why work to show how good a cop you are!

    • Fred Gasparino July 19, 2019, 11:59 am

I seem to recall that in Florida like many states, the license plate has the county of issue on it. Easy to see when somebody is from out of town.

  • Barney Guzzo July 19, 2019, 4:51 am

God bless this veteran, the State of Florida, the police officers (Marion County), and of course Nitro.

    Two less Democratic voters…good shoot.

    • Pappy Boyington July 19, 2019, 8:53 am

  • perlcat July 19, 2019, 3:30 am

  • john o. July 19, 2019, 2:52 am

textbook “the only way to prevent crime is to have a good guy with a gun against a bad guy with a gun” give the other 2 mongrels 50 yrs in prison.
