Senator and Presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren is running on a very strong gun-control platform in her bid for the White House. She is proposing a massive anti-gun package in the name of curbing suicide and gun violence, and it would make things dramatically more difficult for gun owners.

Her plan calls for sweeping executive orders, reinstating and expanding the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, investigating the National Rifle Association, ending the filibuster process and imposing severe taxes on firearms and ammunition.

“In 2017, almost 40,000 people died from guns in the United States,” writes Warren for Medium. “My goal as President, and our goal as a society, will be to reduce that number by 80%. We might not know how to get all the way there yet. But we’ll start by implementing solutions that we believe will work.”

“We’ll continue by constantly revisiting and updating those solutions based on new public health research,” Warren continued. “And we’ll make structural changes to end the ability of corrupt extremists to block our government from defending the lives of our people starting with ending the filibuster.”

Currently, the government imposes a 10 percent excise tax on handguns and an 11 percent tax on other firearms and ammunition. Warren’s plan calls for increasing these taxes to 30 percent on firearms and 50 percent on ammunition.

“It’s time for Congress to raise those rates … to reduce new gun and ammunition sales overall and to bring in new federal revenue that we can use for gun violence prevention and enforcement of existing gun laws.”

Other executive orders and proposed legislation in the plan include a national licensing system for gun ownership, mandatory background checks on private sales, reinstating a one-week waiting period, instating firearm purchasing limits, reinforcing laws against straw purchasing and raising the minimum age to buy all guns to 21 years old.

Her proposal to reinstate the Assault Weapons ban also calls for a registry of all firearms that are already in private possession. Along with the ban and registry, Warren would roll out a “buy-back” program for gun owners who would opt out of gun ownership, and penalize any gun owners who do not comply with the registry.

Warren’s new Assault Weapons Ban includes magazine capacity limits and would ban the ownership of any accessories that make firearms “increasingly deadly,” including pistol braces.

Additional proposed legislation includes a nation-wide red flag law, expanding the definition of “prohibited person” to include hate crimes, barring gun ownership for people under restraining orders and expanding the Gun-Free Zones Act.

Warren would also like to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which would allow lawsuits against firearm and ammunition companies to go forward if their products are used unlawfully. Warren’s gun-control package would even hold company owners personally liable for consumer safety reasons.

“We can build a grassroots movement to take back the Senate, eliminate the filibuster, and pass federal gun safety legislation that will save lives,” said Warren.

“And from the White House, I’ll make sure that the NRA and their cronies are held accountable with executive action,” she continued. “If we turn our heartbreak and our anger into action, I know we can take the power from the NRA and the lawmakers in their pockets and return it to the people.”

No, what they really should do is start checking mentally ill records and put a stop to the mentally deranged from purchasing a weapon from anyone. That applies to any and all felons as well.

  • JJ Johnson April 23, 2021, 8:03 am

Pocahontas is at it again! Seems to me that these liberal idiots are begging for one of their family to be murdered, maimed or raped by their own making. Just a bunch of goof balls wandering aimlessly out there with no common sense whatsoever. 👎🏼👎🏼

  • Lloyd R Elledge January 8, 2021, 11:33 am

She is beyond deranged, as are so many other Left Wing Democrats. She’s a bona fide Marxist who could care less about the 2nd Amendment or any other Constitutional Amendment that goes against what the Democrats “think” is right. Maybe deranged an understatement?

  • Patrick Norton August 18, 2019, 11:09 am

Every legal firearms owner, as well as outdoorsman, should write Elizabeth and ask why she wants to punish the many responsible firearms owners because of a few bad actors who by the way were known by authorities as possible threats.
Warrens suggestion on how this tax would be used is at best hopeful thinking since all tax revenue goes to the general fund and then appropriated and spent according to the Federal Budget. The myth that the specific tax you pay is actually used for the purpose collected is laughable, if it were true then our infrastructure would not be in such sad shape.

    • Scotty Gunn August 18, 2019, 12:33 pm

Why bother? You are taking her at face value. She is a socialist that wants to ban all guns, and does not care about the crackhead killing another crackhead. She does not care about your right to hunt, carry, etc. She wants you disarmed so she can make you do whatever she pleases.
The law that enacted excise taxes on guns and ammo stipulated that the funds go to create federal lands for hunting. How’d that work out?

  • Rick August 17, 2019, 3:10 pm

This 1/100 of 1% Native American Extremest Far Left Liberal Demon like the rest in her party have all the answers every time violence occurs and a firearm is involved. What she proposes will only serve to make it harder for decent law abiding middle class families to legally purchase firearms and ammunition to protect themselves from ever increasing violence along with crime in America. These idiots live in a brain dead land of utopia of brotherly love with candy canes, open windows, and unlocked doors. They have attempted to brain wash the majority of American society with this stupidity for over 56 years but it hasn’t worked.
Of course above all else the Extremest Far Left Liberals will make sure that the brave Men along with Women of Law Enforcement will still be in the line of fire in the combat zones of Chicago and South L.A. as the gangs will still have an abundance of fully automatic weapons along with ammunition.

  • John W. Raccasi August 16, 2019, 11:46 pm

Can you guess how much money it would take for the government to go to every FFL and
go through their records to find every firearm owned in this country! Or are they planning on going to every house in America with a warrant to search for something you might or might not have. Stop everybody on the street to see if they are in possession of a firearm. This is laughable but unfortunately they will bust a gut to get it done and more will pay the price for this misconceived reaction to a “problem” that already has many laws on the books to curtail those who continue to break the law.

What we need to do is education and ownership, need to involve as many people who are willing and wanting to know more about firearm ownership…it’s a supply and demand thing, the more of us firearm owners the less likely that there will be people who want to risk angering their constituents.

One more thing, please, stop calling them guns. they are firearms…guns has turned into a buzz word for everybody to jump on. Just saying, its in the constitution to be able to…

  • John Boutwell August 16, 2019, 10:20 pm

All these proposed new laws for gun owners yet, nothing for mental healthcare issues that all these mass shooters have in common.

    • Sepp W August 19, 2019, 6:42 pm

Liberals don’t care about that or how many people are killed by another person with a firearm. They want all firearms banned, confiscated, and eventually outlawed. They can’t implement their dystopia until every American is disarmed, including criminals.

When liberals can’t or won’t debate, they resort to appealing to emotions and stir up the incapable and unproductive. I have not seen this kind fervor over firearms in my lifetime and frankly, I’m concerned about the rights and freedoms of Americans and the liberal onslaught of them. If sensible people, people that care about rights and freedoms and the Constitutional Republic, don’t get out and vote, then we know what the alternative we all are in for.

Why do you feel that you have to infringe on my RIGHT to bare arms.
    The second amendment guarantees
Me that right, and apparently you have forgotten your oath to the office you hold and as a result you should be removed from office. Explain to me why do Law Abiding citizens keep getting slapped in the face because of non law abiding citizens and your refusal to hold them accountable, and to top it off, give them Sanctuary
Cities to hide in. It’s all above my rational thinking. Get a grip…

  • missourisam August 16, 2019, 6:55 pm

Warren pulled the 40,000 gun deaths out of thin air. She needs to state true facts, and then realize that if the four largest democrat run cities ere removed from the equation, The USA has one of the lowest homicide rate in the world. I guess we should ban democrats, especially liars like her.

  • Kivaari August 16, 2019, 5:48 pm

It isn’t just Warren, it is every democrat in the race. Democrats are the enemy of gun owners without exception. If you love your country, believe in the constitutional protections for everyone, want equality in justice then why would you vote for a democrat? BetO’rourke is proposing confiscation. Every democrat is proposing a ban. Registration is the goal and then none of our guns will be safe.
If you say you will hide your guns, then THEY will have won. If you can’t use them openly the guns may as well not exist. WE must stop all democrats from holding any office at any level in government. They all support the party line of being anti-gun.

  • RMcLean August 16, 2019, 5:46 pm

She’s SO dumb, she thinks the Right to Bear Arms, is a license to wear t-shirts in the winter…

  • ditpook August 16, 2019, 5:11 pm

I propose the Warren Act. That is, anyone who has broken the law, any law or misrepresented themselves in for financial gain is permanently barred from running for any government office.

  • Ralph August 16, 2019, 4:42 pm

In 1958, as a young Marine Lieutenant, I was told never to issue an order I knew could not or would not be obeyed. Elizabeth “Tonto’s girl” Warren should learn that advice.

    I will not comply.

  • Shan August 16, 2019, 4:33 pm

    What a Tyrant.

  • Dennis M Spellman August 16, 2019, 4:01 pm

Elizabeth Warren has no clue what the people of the United States of America wants. We have the right to keep & bear arms guaranteed by the constitution. Law abiding citizens increasingly need to exercise these rights to protect themselves against ongoing physical threats from criminals & some in our government who would take away our rights. Ignorant people like Elizabeth Warren & other idiots that think like her, believe taking weapons away from law abiding citizens will stop shootings in America, but it would just leave criminals with guns & none of us would be able to defend ourselves. This includes the government, look at every other country where guns have been banned & you will see dictatorships & corruption in government & nothing the people can do about it. The original purpose of the 2nd amendment was to prevent this from happening in our country. Leave our guns alone & police the maniacal people that are committing mass shootings!!

  • Mark Wynn August 16, 2019, 3:47 pm

Taxing consumers to effect social change is great for Democrats.
The working class won’t be able to afford it,
while the socialist elite have no problems paying more …
and the government gets more of our money
to re-distribute as bureaucrats and Congress
see fit! it’s for our own good, of course ….

  • oldfuzz695 August 16, 2019, 3:18 pm

The millions of 2nd Amendment supporters will defeat this crazy, dizzy broad. “the right to bare arms” does not give any government the authority to in act any fees or taxes to own or use firearms, including a concealed weapons permit. As far as increasing taxes on ammunition to ridiculous amount, the market will decide. Remember Prohibition? You think bootleggers got into illegal whiskey,, wait until you see the underground ammo manufacturing.

Warren, go shave your legs and shut up!

    • Mark Wynn August 16, 2019, 3:54 pm

Let’s hope she doesn’t demand the right to bare legs ….
We wouldn’t be able to bear it.

  • Jim August 16, 2019, 1:56 pm

almost the first thing out of her mouth was increasing or imposing taxes, typical democrat.
Holding the NRA accountable, for what?
Holding manufacturers accountable for the criminal misuse of their products? Really? Make sure that applies uniformly to every single product, bats knifes, cars, gasoline, alcohol beverages, medications, hammers, airplanes(9-11), pressure cookers(Boston marathon), fertilizers(Oklahoma city), etc….this list is almost endless.
While I do agree with universal background checks(private sales) I don’t see how she think I should have to ask the governments permission to exercise my constitutional rights.
Why is it wrong to ask for ID to vote because it imposes a financial strain to exercise a constitutional right but ok to tax me to exercise my 2nd amendment rights.
Democrats in general and left leaning liberals in particular really have a selective view of the constitution. Sorry but to me it’s all or nothing, either the entire document is equally valid and compulsory or scrap the whole thing and start over, good luck getting that passed.

    • Mikey Weinstein August 16, 2019, 4:23 pm

You support universal background checks? You’re an idiot too.

      • Jim August 16, 2019, 7:13 pm

Mikey, Thanks for the insult from the safety of your living room.
Yes, no problem with background checks and you shouldn’t either. Only checking to make sure your not transferring a weapon to a felon. You have to do it EVERYTIME you buy from a dealer so why are you nutted up over it for private transactions?
I have known people that have done straw purchases, can’t prove it but know it happened. I have no problem with background checks, they are the most benign way to verify we aren’t handing a weapon over to a person that shouldn’t have it.

        • Jim August 18, 2019, 1:35 pm

The problem with many laws is the unintended effects. A transfer of a firearm takes place whenever you put a firearm in another person’s hands and then let that firearm out of your immediate control. A universal background check law would criminalize, for instance, lending a gun for any purpose to a friend, neighbor and possibly family member. (think lending a gun to a friend for a day out hunting.) Ambitious and/or anti-gun prosecutors could stretch the meaning of this to criminalize many other innocent acts.

Also, background checks have not been proven to be all that effective. Bad reporting, bureaucratic foul-ups are part of the problem. Part of the problem is that the absence of a criminal past is not a perfect predictor of future behavior. Most of the mass shooters passed background checks to legally purchase firearms. Also, experience criminals just buy stolen weapons so they will never be subject to any background check.

The fact is that so-called universal background checks is just another cut in the “death by a thousand cuts” strategy of the would-be gun banners

    • Altoids August 16, 2019, 8:05 pm

Universal background checks cannot possibly work without universal firearms registration. There has to be a database that establishes ownership of a particular firearms by a particular individual at a given date.

Otherwise I could trade with my buddy and if we were caught, we could simply claim that the trade took place before the law went into effect.

      • Jim August 18, 2019, 5:22 pm

Altiods, I draw the line at registering the firearm with the government. The government doesn’t need to know what specifically I own, only that I’m legal to own firearms.
While I agree with you somewhat I don’t see the need in registering ownership of a specific gun. Yes there is always someone that will “cheat” or find a way to circumvent any law.
Your kind of registering your new purchases in a way since the dealer has to maintain records so transferring ownership to another authorized citizen through a dealer shouldn’t be a major problem.

Let me be clear on my stance: my only concern is someone transferring a firearm to a person that is legally prohibited from owning one and doing a private transaction without confirming the person is legal to own is irresponsible. If you do it knowing that the person is prohibited then it’s a criminal act.

It seems to me the simplest way to get Democrat’s to stop blowing off about background checks is to compromise. For example: I have a CWP, have had it for about 15-20 years, this provides instant verification of my legal right to own a firearm. I have always thought the simplest solution to this argument would be to get owners verified and not get concerned about what they own or how many.
Sort of like getting a drivers license: fill out the form, submit it, background check done and passed, issue permit, done. If a felony hits your record the permit is automatically revoked so a dealer only need to enter permit number in to database for a virtually instant check.

    • Wiz August 18, 2019, 4:00 pm

Either you’re in for a penny or in for a pound, Ok with background checks in the private sector, REALLY? If you’re OK with one why not the rest? Where do you draw the line Jim?? All these things are BS period. What part of “Shall not be infringed” don’t you get. Let them get a foot in the door the party is over, which side do you want to be part of???

      • Andrew N. September 18, 2019, 9:51 pm

The real problem with the NICS now comes from States failing to report Felons into the system, 28 States under reporting at last count, as well as the epic failure of mental health records not being reported. In 2014, In addition to the FBI’s annual budget for NICS, the Department of Justice has handed out $56 million in state grants over the past five years to improve mental health reporting. Despite years of investments, some states continue to struggle to submit records. A prime example?
        ● Massachusetts has received $2,323,737 and collected just one record.
Another Liberal State, taking lots of federal funds for doing nothing. “Protecting the privacy” of the mentally ill is not a viable excuse. It doesn’t provide patient information, just that they aren’t mentally stable enough to handle the responsibility of owning / handling a firearm. “Universal Background Checks” are a big lie. It is a backdoor registry of already owned firearms as the move from father to son. You want to reduce gun crime? PROSECUTE gun crime. Chicago is 50th out of 50 federal districts for gun crime prosecution. “Gee, how come we have all those shootings in Chicago?” Dumbasses!

  • grumpy0331 August 16, 2019, 1:55 pm

Will someone send Elizabeth Warren the definition of criminal and ask her to spend a few weekends in Chicago.

  • D.A.N. August 16, 2019, 1:17 pm

Warren is so stupid, even Slugs are smarter.
” registry of all firearms that are already in private possession. ” Okay miss squaw full of dung, want to explain to me how you would know who has what? And what about all the criminals out there? Want to explain how you would get them to comply? Until you can answer the last question you can forget about anything else.

  • Gary Lee August 16, 2019, 11:59 am

Curbing 30,000 suicides? Sounds to me like Warren doesn’t want ANYONE escaping the plantation!

    • Mark Wynn August 16, 2019, 3:56 pm

Perhaps we should also ban bedsheets and bunk beds ….

  • Michael August 16, 2019, 11:15 am

I wonder. What happens to the States that Refuse to Comply?as in the 10th Amendment. What then? Secession? Declaration of Independence? Would someone please ask Pocohantas That Question?

  • Michael J August 16, 2019, 11:15 am

Democrats have absolutely no clue what the Constitution requires of them. They spout off statistics as if they can change human behavior by restricting only the law abiding portion of society. People who continue to vote for these mentally ill politicians are responsible for allowing the demise of the United States from the inside. This is what happens when we don’t pay attention to those in government who damned the Constitution.

  • Alan Robinson August 16, 2019, 10:52 am

Oh, and BTW, apparently the members of the NRA are NOT part of “the people” anymore.
    Revolution, anyone?

  • Alan Robinson August 16, 2019, 10:51 am

And just what would she ‘Investigate’ the NRA for????
So, we’re gonna investigate the NRA, but NOT the Obama’s and the Clintons for what they have done?
Red Herring, anyone? Because it sure smells fishy in the Democratic/MSM enclave these days.

Taxes, liability insurance, medical permits, hiring lawyers to combat false ERPO accusations….only the elitists will be able to afford guns

Warren is pure evil. She is so self-centered. She is a one-sided anti-2A. She knows nothing about which she speaks. All she wants is that prize at the end of her rainbow- that being ,the dictator in chief of the United States of America. Her ideas are just ploys to hopefully get her there. Her ideas will solve nothing, but rather put more money in to, who really knows where, while the status quo just keeps on going. She makes me want to puke, on her.

  • R. Corrino August 13, 2019, 8:45 pm

well….. she might win the nomination but she has already lost the election.

  • John August 13, 2019, 10:13 am

All about gun control, when will they accept the fact that guns do not kill people. People kill people. Limiting access to firearms for responsible law abiding citizens will only put firearms in the hands of criminals.
