Everytown is Terrified that Amy Coney Barrett Will be a Great 2A Judge
President Trump’s pick looks like a strong 2A candidate.

Everytown for Gun Safety is terrified of Amy Coney Barrett. But if you ask the gun community, there may be no better recommendation for President Trump’s pick to replace Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.

Everytown and Moms Demand Action released a statement this week claiming that Barrett’s nomination will “put gun safety laws at serious risk.”

“Amy Coney Barrett’s alarming interpretation of the Second Amendment would make her an ideal Supreme Court Justice for the NRA, but a terrible one for the safety of the American people,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “Giving her a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court will make us all less safe.”

Everytown argues that, if Barrett is confirmed, universal background check laws, concealed carry laws, and “assault weapon” bans will all be in danger of being overturned.

In addition, Barrett’s presence on the Supreme Court could force lower courts to use the standard of review outlined in the landmark pro-gun decision, D.C. v. Heller, which would “put almost every gun law at risk,” according to Everytown.

Barrett doesn’t have a lengthy record on Second Amendment issues, but her existing opinions look promising.

In her most high-profile case, she wrote a dissenting opinion arguing that a non-violent convicted felon should have his gun rights restored. To make her case, Barrett relied on founding-era documents and legal precedent to prove that the framers of the Constitution would not have wanted a non-violent felon from having his gun rights permanently revoked.

In this, Barrett’s approach to the law resembles the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who also relied on founding-era history in his Heller decision. Barrett was a clerk for Scalia after she graduated from law school and said at the White House on Saturday, “His judicial philosophy is mine too.”

Gun rights groups have been quick to praise Trump for his selection.

Erich Pratt, Senior Vice President for Gun Owners of America, said that Barrett “appears to be a strong choice.”

“She has indicated a willingness to examine and apply the Second Amendment as written, by looking at its text and using history as a guide, instead of engaging in the judge-empowering interest balancing that has run rampant in the lower courts,” Pratt said in a statement. “Gun owners will relish seeing a new addition to the Supreme Court who is ready to hold lower courts accountable for failing to uphold the Constitution and for refusing to follow the Heller and McDonald precedents.”

The National Rifle Association also praised Barrett for her “steadfast commitment to the fundamental rights enshrined in our Constitution.” They “fully support” Trump’s choice and urge the Senate to “act quickly” to confirm her.

Right now, Republicans in the Senate have tentatively planned to vote on Barrett’s confirmation at the end of October. They appear to have the votes necessary to move the confirmation to its conclusion.

The only thing that is going to make you safe is a secure basement in your own home… until such time as people in this country wake up and put the mental folks back in mental hospitals vs letting them run amuck in society. Guns are not the problem.

Anyone who has ever purchased a gun know the process. It is fine the way it is. To get a suppressor is even more of a process, at least the first time around. We keep go over the same liberal BS because that is all Democrats can do is keep repeating the same nonsense until they hope it sticks. Meanwhile sanctuary cities are perfectly fine to Democrats. Those caravans loaded with illegals that trump stopped, are all greasing up the wheels again licking their chops that Biden / Harris win. How can any real citizen support these democrats who have no problem treating illegals like future citizens, and citizens like future law breakers.

Hand maids tale.. here we go !

  • Kevin McCarthy October 5, 2020, 11:12 am

The US has over 30,000 gun laws, restrictions, and requirements between the 50 states coast to coast. Everyone of those laws – starting with the gun control act of 1934 – anti-gunners patted each other on the back saying, “This will fix the violence”….and it never has. Today they scream, ‘we need better laws’ but they have no intentions of making the ones that don’t work go away. And then wonder out loud why gun owners are not lining up to pass ‘common sense’ gun laws.

If 30,000 laws did not fix the issue – what makes liberals feel law # 30,001 will? We have thousands of laws detailing all manner of things gun wise – length, size, capacity, etc – and not a single law that takes into account for every crime committed with a gun there was a finger on a trigger.

We dont need gun control. We need finger control.

    • James Wires October 6, 2020, 11:11 am

outlaw fingers, confiscate fingers, then we’ll be safe. Better yet, pass a law requiring every household to own -a-gun!

  • Ones October 5, 2020, 8:40 am

Here we go, people of praise. Did you do your homework? Your research? Dont want a boot licker from a religious cult that speaks in tongues to be in ANY positon of power in MY country. Period. Maybe you weak fools who believe in a imaginary guy in the sky,do.But just panning up and making barretts image larger above and looking into her eyes…. CREEPS ME THE F&$K OUT ! Anyway… a million dollars says jesus wouldnt own a gun cuz he turned the other cheek! What do you phoney and fake christians say?

    • Michael October 5, 2020, 10:54 am

Good for you for speaking out.
Just because we like guns and shooting doesn’t mean we’ve to turn a blind eye on the other fundamental issues such as:
Separation of church and state, human decency and respect for women’s rights to choose what is right for themselves,
      and so much more……..
And yes, those stares coming from those eyes is creepy and evil.

    • kc October 5, 2020, 10:56 am

Nah, you’re right. I’d rather have a bootlicker from the Holy Church of Woke Government tell me what to do and how to think. Thanks for participating, here’s your troll trophy.

    • James S. October 5, 2020, 11:23 am

You are correct in that she could do immense harm to this country. Nothing wrong with Christians or Muslims until they try to force their holy laws on everyone else. Her proponents don’t understand that trying to impose biblical law on the country will only weaken their position in the long run.

    • Trey Rowdy October 23, 2020, 12:33 pm

LOL. I love her nomination and confirmation if for no other reason than to watch people like you freak out. When you start screaming at the sky please post some pictures. We all need a good laugh in these times.

    • WRW November 19, 2020, 9:59 pm

Speaking of homework…what does the Constitution of YOUR Country say about the free exercise of religion? Isn’t that a Constitutionally guaranteed right?
I have to ask, “Have you made Government your religion?” Your belief in Government, to the exclusion of other established religions, leads me to believe you have.

  • Dave October 5, 2020, 7:55 am

    Not here in Virginia.

I’d post who I get mine from but don’t want to mess with any rules advertising such things.

  • John October 3, 2020, 6:17 pm

Affirming Justice Barrett and overturning bad gun laws is a GOOD thing! “… shall not be infringed” is the law of the land. Period. Where in the Constitution does it give governments the authority to infringe anyone’s protected Rights at all? Why all the fuss about guns with too many bullets when ANFO bombs are easier to obtain? It makes no sense whatsoever!

So, why are they not enforcing existing gun laws, has it not always been illegal to kill people? Does it not make better sense to punish the criminals rather than making it more difficult for the innocent to protect themselves? The answers to all of this is self-evident. Why is the law-making elite always trying to re-invent the wheel? The American people deserve honest answers to these questions from the so-called “rulers.”

  • TexDad October 2, 2020, 1:14 pm

I don’t think “because we don’t think she’ll rule the way we want her to” is a suitable objection to the confirmation of a judicial appointment.

  • 2ABeliver October 2, 2020, 11:34 am

All I have to say to the moms and other Bloomberg morons is, waaa, waaa, waaa, or to put in another way, Go. Suck. An. Egg!!’

    Idiots…

  • Singleshotcajun October 2, 2020, 9:20 am

Pretty much up to state law I believe. Here in the free state of Texas we can order ammo online or any Interstate means of commerce.

    • A October 23, 2020, 7:01 am

It’s up to the States insofar as it doesn’t contradict the US Constitution. The 2nd is one of the most straightforwardly worded of all Amendments on purpose, they wanted to make it clear as a bell “shall not be infringed”.

  • Bing Fong October 1, 2020, 5:07 pm

Do ammo sales on line must go through FFL dealers?

    • Fronk! October 2, 2020, 9:09 am

Depends on your State. Most States do not require FFL for ammo.
      Here’s a handy Guide: https://ammunitionstore.com/can-i-buy-ammo-online/

    • BW October 2, 2020, 9:17 am

      NO

    • Tj October 2, 2020, 9:28 am

      In one word”NO”

    • Brian October 3, 2020, 12:07 pm

Ammo manufactures will only ship to FFL holders in the People’s Republik of Kalifornia, where law-abiding Americans are treated like second class citizens by their Democratic oppressor’s. Pay attention America, this is what your life will be like if Biden/Harris win in November.

    • The Observer October 5, 2020, 6:57 am

Here in Illinois, you have to send a photo copy of your government issued ID and FOID card and the dealer can ship directly to you. I have done it many times. Once your ID’s are on file with the dealer, you do not need to send them every time you order.
