Everytown Slams NRA for ‘Outrageous’ 30-Round Mag Giveaway At Virginia Statehouse As Committee Advances 4 Gun-Control Bills

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors Current Events S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Everytown for Gun Safety is not happy with the National Rifle Association.

The Bloomberg-funded, gun-control organization bashed the nation’s gun lobby for giving away 1,000 MagPul 30-round magazines Monday at the Virginia statehouse.

The giveaway was in protest to a bevy of legislation Democrats hope to pass in the coming weeks and months that will restrict one’s right to keep and bear arms in Old Dominion.

“In an attempt to intimidate lawmakers and subvert the will of voters, the NRA gave away dangerous high-capacity magazines – similar to those used in the country’s deadliest mass shootings – to random civilians at the Virginia statehouse today,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

Moms Demand Action is an offshoot of Everytown.  It, along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns, merged to form Everytown in 2013.

“The NRA’s outrageous behavior underscores precisely why its agenda has been rejected at the ballot box in Virginia and across the country,” Watts added.

While the mag giveaway was a stick in the eye of the gun prohibition lobby, anti-gun legislators in the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced four bills today.

The legislation that is moving forward would: allow law enforcement to confiscate firearms from someone accused of being a threat to themselves or others (a “red-flag” bill), criminalize private transfers (universal background checks), give municipalities the power to ban firearms from certain events, and prohibit citizens from buying more than one handgun in any 30-day period.

Gov. Ralph Northam (D) was quick to applaud lawmakers on social media for advancing the bills to the Senate floor for a full vote.

“For the first time in decades, commonsense gun safety measures are finally advancing in the Virginia legislature,” Northam tweeted. “This is the first step in the process—Virginians are demanding real action on gun violence, and they are watching.”

If there’s good news to come out of Richmond, it’s that what is arguably the most controversial bill, Senate Bill 16, was withdrawn from consideration at the 11-hour, according to WHSV

Sponsored by Sen. Richard Saslaw, SB 16 would expand the definition of so-called “assault weapons” and ban their possession as well as the selling or transfer of any ammunition feeding device capable of holding more than 10 rounds.

SB 16 may be dead, for now, in the Senate but its twin in the House of Delegates, House Bill 961, is still alive and kicking; though it has yet to be referred to a committee for review.

Much more to come on the Virginia front.  So, stay tuned for updates!

I have a half dozen 30rd P-mags that were given to me at GGO (Georgia gun owners) rallies.
The concept that going past a capacity of 10 rounds suddenly changes your sporting/hunting rifle into a maniacal, “Humanihilator” (human anihilator, I’ve officially just coined this word.. lol) is 100% ridiculous.
Although it may be the difference in saving or losing your life when a crew of 3 or 4 armed crack-heads and/or gang members breaks through your front and back doors, simultaneously, cutting you off from your resources, leaving you with the rifle and it’s one mag you had stashed near you when you heard the noise..
Now,, you’re faced with three or four armed attackers, you’ve reached your choke-point so you have a manageable, defendable field of fire between you and your family behind you and the baddies in front of you.
There are multiple attackers throwing shots at you because they’re there for your stuff and won’t be leaving without it.
They know that if they can take you down fast enough, they’ll have more than enough time to grab your stuff and high-tail it before the cavalry arrives (and, folks, it’s “cavalry.” “Calvary” is the place where Jesus was crucified).
So, one BG’s dead, one’s wounded but still shooting from behind the table he landed near, two more are armed and ambulatory and you’ve already gone through half a mag because, contrary to popular belief, badguys don’t stand and strike a still-life pose at which you can throw potshots.
Snipers gave us the famous phrase “one shot, one kill.” Those of us who had to “run-‘n-gun,” unable to patiently lurk in the shadows, @ 1k yds., had a paraphrase… “One mag, one kill. ”
In the excitement and confusion of engagement with home-busting idiots, trying to shoot a moving target while you’re jumped-up with adrenaline, hoping to not be shot while simultaneously worrying about your family and if they’re out of the crossfire… The ability to calmly take aim, check your breathing and find “center mass” is replaced with sheer panic and you’redoingyour best not to just “spray and pray” while keeping your head down.
Suddenly, when it can take 4-8 shots (or more) to take out one badguy, a 30rd magazine seems pretty fitting to the task, 2 tapped together, even better.
Just because you’re “a good person” and going to comply with a mag restriction, doesn’t mean the badguys are. Now, you have your compliant rifle with a ten round mag (because that’s what you were closest to when the doors exploded) and the “BGs,” armed with several guns, all with extended mags seem quite the insurmountable opponents… And they are.
But, you called 911, right? Your phones were close and everyone kept calm, cool minds while the bullets were flying past little Suzie’s head and the dog, which was valiantly trying to protect you, got shot to death, yelping blood curdling sounds, right in front of the kids. So, they’re not screaming bloody murder, your wife preoccupied with trying to comfort and quiet them. Hey, 911 was called, so the police are going to magically show up in the next ten seconds, causing the BGs to instantly drop their weapons, so… Everything is going to be juuust fine.
Do you realize how many people get killed between the time 911 is called and the cops show up to count the bodies .. each day?? A lot.
Criminals don’t just stop what they’re doing simply because you say “I called 911!” like you’re shouting “ollie ollie oxen-free” in a game of tag.

One has only to look at how West Virginia was formed ! Many people grew tired of the hacks in VA and split off forming a new state. Sadly I do not know exactly how or when this happened but this may be a modern solution to today’s issues ! It would be a great move for the rural sections of VA to consider joining WVA ?

  • johnnyraygun January 19, 2020, 10:57 am

Just what we firearm owners do not need, some idiots flaunting and rubbing it in the noses of uber-left crazies. We have to be smarter than that. This is not a winning formula.

    • JR Hutto January 20, 2020, 4:13 pm

Hopefully, they gave some of those magazines out to VA lawmakers who will eventually vote for the anti gun bills being considered, aka rammed down our throats. That way, when they vote the bills in, they become instant felons like the rest of us. Of course, unless they exempt themselves…

  • Fal Phil January 18, 2020, 9:44 am

You can’t count on conservatives. They have conserved nothing. Heck, they couldn’t even conserve women’s bathrooms.

Red flag laws circumvent due process. This is patently unconstitutional. Will conservatives conserve due process? Time will tell, but, based on the track record, my money says no.

It’s time for a new political paradigm for those who value liberty.

    • JR Hutto January 20, 2020, 4:15 pm

So advocates for outright civil war, like you should carry more weight? I’m frustrated with so called conservatives’ inaction in many cases as well, but you don’t seem to give a cogent answer to the problem. Just a mere complaint. Try being part of the solution.

      • Dab May 15, 2020, 5:31 am

Well they refused to listen to words and they refused to follow the constitution so what would you suggest have a sing-along? Our ancestors would’ve tarred and feathered a couple of these flightless Democrats years ago. And I do see the irony of a black man as a Democrat politician the party of racist and the KKK

  • Michael January 17, 2020, 7:41 pm

I think its a travesty that any state would step on our Constitution, the very document you swore to protect and defend?I live in New Jersey and have felt for some time that my rights have been slowly slipping away ever since Murphy got into office. The irregular election he fell into when Gov. C Christie retired had 90% of all voters out of touch. We were all complacent and sat back after Trumps win! We all though he said he would protect our 2A and others and we didnt realize that our own states Gov’s. race hadnt been voted on yet!! I found out the day after when Murphy was announced as the winner and he said he would sign any 2A control bill put on his desk?!?!?!? only about 30% of our states population voted in his election bid….sadly.Even though Trump said he would protect our 2A he isnt protecting them for us at a state level?WE THE PEOPLE need to remove these criminal/Communist politicians!!!

    • johnnyraygun January 19, 2020, 11:01 am

Do not count on Trump to protect our 2A rights. He would sellout anybody and everybody for power. Ask any of those serving time , like Cohen, Flynn, Manifort and many more.

  • SD January 17, 2020, 5:40 pm

Don’t blame you Bob. I was born and raised in Virginia. It used to be a great state until the D.C. /northern Va. and Md. people started infiltrating. Area wise we are still conservative 2nd amendment supporting people but the populated areas such as northern Va. tidewater and city of Richmond are anti gun liberal fools. We’ve had some great governors in the past such as Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson but unfortunately the last 4 out of 5 have been Democrats. The decline is obvious.

  • Higgs Boson January 17, 2020, 4:49 pm

Free magazines?! Great! Now all the surplus ammo can be stored in them. Quicker on the reloading…

  • John January 17, 2020, 3:58 pm

I’m absolutely sick and tired of politicians using the time-worn phrase of using so-called “common sense” when referring to their latest anti-gun proposals. How can anyone who still believes what they are telling us is anything but bull crap and how they are legally going to push it down our throats? Even after taking a couple of college political science classes they still do not know the difference between what is legal and what is lawful.

These mental giants simply overlook the simple fact that “…shall not be infringed” is nothing about what type, or how many guns a month or how much ammo we should be “allowed” to have. Show me where the Constitution, aka, the law of the land, gives these elected employees the authority to control our Right to bear arms! They have gone too far by overstepping the authority allowed to them by the American people, who are the absolute holders of the sovereignty according to all the constitutions, state and federal.

  • Christopher Chason January 17, 2020, 2:28 pm

LOL! God Bless the NRA! Magpul did a similar thing in Colorado when they were kicked-out of that state! Someone make it clear too these parasites that the REASON we have the 2nd Amendment, is BECAUSE OF PARASITES LIKE THEM! Time for the people of Virginia to wise-up and start FIRING some Parasites!

  • Joshua J Goebel January 17, 2020, 1:11 pm

It’s about time the NRA steps in and does something in virgina. Keep it up NRA

  • Greg January 17, 2020, 11:36 am

Should someone tell her that Magpul, which was based in her home county in Colorado before they were driven out of the state just before getting all the military contracts, allocated 1 MILLION magazines for Colorado when similar bans were proposed and passed. They gave away tens of thousands of them and Colorado residents bought them up by the hundreds of thousands.
I was at te “airdrop” event in Glendale where they actually arrived by helicopter with several boxes of Colorado logo magazines. At the event inside the venue, they had tables set up on a football field and they were selling ANY magpul magazine, any size, any caliber, any quantity, for $10/mag. You got 1 free mag just for paying the $5 entry fee. Not sure how many thousands of people showed up, but it was thousands. I had friends go that didn’t even own AR15s at the time, but they planned to get one. The way Colorado’s law worked was the ban was only on the magazine, so you can go out today and purchase a brand new AR15 and insert the 20,30,100rd magazine you bought prior to 2013 and it’s perfectly legal.

…and they all live right near Shannan Watts. 🙂

  • Scott Moore January 17, 2020, 11:24 am

The NRA’s outrageous behavior? How can you be writing for a gun magazine? They should have been giving away AR15’s. Get on board or stay out of the conversation.

    • Scotty Gunn January 17, 2020, 1:25 pm

      Author was quoting.

    • Poopdujour January 18, 2020, 10:37 am

The “outrageous” statement is quoting Watts. This is journalism, so the author includes quotes from friend and foe alike if they relate to the topic.

  • Robert Frasconi January 17, 2020, 10:39 am

    Donald Judas Trump.

Yes, The buck started and stops with the president. He banned a gun accessory by edict. He told Piers Morgan he would consider another ban on suppressors. He started the ball rolling on unconstitutional red flag laws.

He lauds the 2A at campaign rallies, yet he has not lifted a finger to repeal gun restrictions and infringements.

He has the power to call up the National Guard and arrest Gov. Ralph Northam if Northam makes war against the people — the very definition of treason.

Yet, Judas is too busy sending troops to Saudi Arabia, killing Gen. Suleimani (who was on a peace mission), occupying Syria, occupying Afghanistan, and threatening Iran to care one iota about your inherent rights and use his Bully Pulpit to make certain Northam gets the message.

Donald Judas Trump is the Snake he warned supporters about in the poem he so often read in 2016.

    Remember, you were warned.

    • scott January 17, 2020, 11:22 am

I don’t know why you would be commenting on this issue, you sound like a liberal. Trump is the one fighting for free Americans. Trump has suggested background checks but then would want to have federal carry permits. Don’t be a fake conservative, we can see right through you.

      • Bryan January 17, 2020, 1:50 pm

        Absolutely!

      • Robert Frasconi January 18, 2020, 10:04 am

Trump cultists persist in worshipping him at their peril.

My criticism is from a constitutional/libertarian standpoint, not a Leftist one.

        The president tweeted the following:

Your 2nd Amendment is under very serious attack in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia. That’s what happens when you vote for Democrats, they will take your guns away. Republicans will win Virginia in 2020. Thank you Dems!

In other words, he cannot be bothered to do anything about the attack on gun rights that he got the ball rolling on, other than to tweet about it and use the issue ad a political football. SMH.

I stand by my original post in full.

      • johnnyraygun January 19, 2020, 11:10 am

Trump is not fighting for 2A, he is fighting for power, through your misguided vote. DUH!!! He does not own firearms, never has never will. The (R) is ceding 2A rights, over the love of Donnie.

  • Big John January 17, 2020, 9:58 am

Isn’t that the same LT. Governor who had a credible rape alligation lodged against him??? Just the kind of guy I’d need to apostatize to me on the subject of right and wrong.

As for the NRA… just another cheap headline grabbing stunt (they didn’t even pay for the magazines) to keep their name in the news to help with collecting more money from foolish Fudd’s for LaPierres pay raise. Where was LaPierre anyways, shopping for new suits. NRA= No Real Action!

Keep an eye out for the GOA participation in the rally on January 20th… and YES- Eric Pratt will be there… somebody’s got to save the NRA Range, may as well be Gun Owners of America!

    • Bryan January 17, 2020, 12:13 pm

I’m a life member of both the NRA and GOA…the GOA is the only organization that actually helps gun owners anymore…the NRA sits on their hands…

  • Livinlegal420 January 17, 2020, 9:56 am

If the justice system would do a dramatic change & start putting these proven killers down. No more lock-in them up for life, no more free medical, free food, A/C, rec. time, etc. . A POS takes a life & we let them sit in the system forever. NO TOLERANCE!!!!! No claiming insanity, nothing………found guilty, DONE. Stop trying to make the legal, law abiding citizens pay!!!!!!

  • Alan Robinson January 17, 2020, 9:50 am

What’s really ‘outrageous’ is that these stupid women want to blame an inanimate object for school shootings that result from parents NOT keeping track of their kids, and apparently allowing social media and their peers to raise those kids.
Harris and Klebold were NOT properly raised and were allowed to just do as they pleased. Mommy and Daddy are to blame, plain and simple.
It doesn’t take a damn village, it takes a mom and dad that do their job as parents.

  • Jonathan Olenick January 17, 2020, 9:38 am

Unwise to pull on the tiger’s whiskers. Jon.

  • A. Dolphin January 17, 2020, 9:37 am

Watts continued, “In the most provocative and lethal action ever done in the history of the universe, the NRA handed out small boxes with springs in them.” She added, “The NRA should be shot…no, wait…I didn’t mean that”.

  • Sam January 17, 2020, 9:17 am

Stand your ground citizens of Virginia! You are going to anger even more people before this is over. Do not give attention to uneducated, loudmouth anti – gun fools. Most all of them are paid for by the puppet masters who finance anti – gun garbage in your state. These proposed bills will not make any one in your state safer. Look what Illinois has proposed/ passed. The gun violence in Chicago will NEVER go away, nor will it decline because of these proposals in your state as well. Remember that Democrats hate you and everything you stand for when you are a gun owner/ NRA member. Stay united and hold your ground!

  • Andrew January 17, 2020, 9:04 am

This is why we live in a Republic & not a Democracy. Mob rule does not get to take away our rights, in spite of the attempts by Bloomberg & George Soros buying elections.

    • Robert Frasconi January 17, 2020, 10:52 am

This, as you rightly say, has everything to do with attempting to extinguish rights.

Bloomberg and Soros are Communist, neo-Bolsheviks bent on destroying this Republic. The Bolshevik Revolution killed millions upon millions the first time out. Gun confiscation leads inexorably to democide.

Bolshevik Revolution 2.0 must be stopped.

  • Jp January 17, 2020, 9:02 am

Crazy thing is when I got this email, in the headline it said dangerous 30Rd. Magazine. So, if whomever it is that feels that way about a magazine. I feel that going over 50mph in a vehicle is dangerous but I don’t think that’s gonna be an issue to those that drives in them.

  • Alan1018 January 17, 2020, 8:26 am

THe NRA should double down and give away some 60’s and a few 100 round c-mags.

    • Stuart January 17, 2020, 10:05 pm

The NRA didn’t “give away” anything, Magpul did. The NRA is just trying to take credit for it.

  • Dr Motown January 17, 2020, 7:35 am

Sorry to inform you, Ms Watts, but the “will of the people” does not subvert my civil rights

  • Ghost January 17, 2020, 7:08 am

    Their here for your guns……..Period

  • Bob January 17, 2020, 7:02 am

Better watch those dangerous magazines. They might jump up and hit you. What a crock of BS. Why would any freedom loving American want to go to VA? They will do without my money and presence as long as this idiocy prevails.

  • Jay January 17, 2020, 6:26 am

All of government is complicit in coming after your second amendment rights! If not who in government is fighting the other direction and stopping these laws from even coming up! The Constitution be damned they do what they want and apathy is Americans movement anymore. Your Rights and the Constitution are toast, voting does nothing! We need to follow the Declaration of Independence and shed this government like an old worn out coat!

    • Mark A Gutsmiedl January 17, 2020, 7:28 am

I am not saying that all Republicans are pro-gun, pro 2A. You asked where is the other side fighting against these laws in government? If you look at the committee votes on these Bill’s, all were 9-5 for the bills. That’s 9 democrats and 5 Republicans. This is what happens when democrats take over both houses.

  • Leighton Cavendish January 17, 2020, 6:08 am

Should give out a few 100 round drum magazines…she might have a stroke…

  • Ronnie Maeker January 14, 2020, 11:55 am

“I’m not trying to make a point, I’m just trying to make THE point…”

Politicians learned from the great boxer Muhammad Ali: Bob and weave. “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

Oh the “Thee Not Me” mentality of those who think the Constitution does not matter.

Perhaps, the Second Amendment should overrule every state law on the books.
    Constitutional Carry…period

No state boundaries or differences in regards to the law.

  • J January 13, 2020, 11:47 pm

It is great the Lt. Governor wanted to talk to Virginia firearm owners, but when they say they want a conversation it is on their terms only. If, you watch the video he does not answer the older gentleman’s question as to why are law abiding citizens always targeted with firearm restrictions and criminals get a pass? It is happening across the country in every state that is Democratically controlled. Less punishment for criminals and more for us law abiding citizens. The Lt. Governor just deflects the question to something else. Stay strong Virginia 2nd Amendment supporters.

One problem Virginia had during the election was in some districts their were no Republicans running against Democrats so that was an easy win for the Democrats in the House and the Senate. There were 5,666,962 registered voters in Virginia with only 3,374,382 voting, which is about 59.5% according to the Registration/Turnout Reports. It leaves 2,295,580 Virginia voters not casting a vote. This would have changed things if more turnout to vote for our 2nd Amendment rights.

    • Andrew January 17, 2020, 9:08 am

The Republican party abandoned VA years ago. After their refusal to support Ken Cuccinelli for Governor because they felt he was a Tea Party candidate, they never did anything for the state since. They are as guilty as anyone for the lack of support for our rights in both the State & the country.
