Everytown for Gun Safety announced on Monday a massive, $60 million spending plan directed at electing anti-gun candidates in the 2020 presidential and congressional elections. Everytown is funded primarily by Michael Bloomberg, who is himself a candidate in the Democratic presidential primary.
The spending spree will nearly double the $36 million that the National Rifle Association spent to elect President Trump in 2016, according to The Hill.
For their part, Everytown denies that their coffers have been super-charged by Mike “Daddy Warbucks” Bloomberg.
“This massive 2020 effort is fueled by a combination of financial resources, unprecedented grassroots power and a consensus among more than 90 percent of Americans across party lines that we need action now to reduce gun violence,” Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, said in the press release.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) notes how Bloomberg is targeting the White House using the same strategy he used to turn Virginia from red to blue.

“Virginia was a test of Bloomberg’s buying power,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said in a press release, “and look how that has worked out. Now his gun prohibition lobbying group is promising to roll out the big bucks to buy state legislative and congressional races nationwide. He is weaponizing his wealth in an attempt to purchase the presidency, along with Capitol Hill and every state legislature in hopes of forcing every American to live under his dictates.”
Everytown is planning to target Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin in the upcoming year. Specifically, they have their sights set on Republican Senators Cory Gardner of Colorado and Martha McSally of Arizona to help win Democrats control of the Senate.
Gottlieb encourages gun owners to engage in their local political scene to push back against big-money, out-of-state advertising and campaigning. Concerned citizens must be registered to vote at their current address, and make sure their friends and family members are registered as well.

Organizing get-out-the-vote efforts and becoming directly involved in political campaigns for pro-2A candidates will also be essential in the upcoming election.
As Virginia so powerfully demonstrates, waiting until an election is over is never a winning strategy. Even though the grassroots efforts in Virginia have been historic, state Democrats don’t appear to be swayed by the show of support for the Second Amendment.
“Michael Bloomberg’s wealth does not give him the right to determine anyone else’s rights,” Gottlieb said. “America’s gun owners can’t let this country go on the auction block. There are no dollar signs on the Bill of Rights, not now, not ever.”
Without doing any research, I’m making a guess that the first gun control in this nation not counting before the Constitution and the revolutionary war was done by one that many think of as a great man and hero, and his name was Wyatt Earp.
