Fauci on Gun Violence: ‘How can you say that’s not a public health issue?’

News Wire This Week

America’s health czar Dr. Anthony Fauci briefly addressed the issue of gun-related violence in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash over the weekend.

The chief medical advisor to President Biden was asked if the “epidemic” of gun violence in the country is a “public health emergency.”

“You know, myself, as a public health person, I think you can’t run away from that,” said Fauci. “When you see people getting killed — I mean, in this last month, it’s just been horrifying what’s happened.”

“How can you say that’s not a public health issue?” he asked.

Fauci didn’t elaborate on what policy measures he’d like to see enacted to curb it. Makes one wonder what the good doctor would prescribe.

Violence spiked in 2020, as GunsAmerica previously reported. Many gun-control advocates are quick to point to the boom in gun sales last year as the cause.

But that doesn’t jive with the facts. As we explained, the average “time-to-crime” (how long it takes a gun to move from legal purchase to crime) is something north of nine years.

Very unlikely that all of these newly purchased firearms suddenly ended up in the hands of criminals 12 months after they were bought.

The George Floyd riots, the “defund the police” movement, and catch-and-release policing protocols that put criminals back out on the streets during COVID are much more likely to blame for the rise in crime.

But because those explanations don’t fit the gun-grabber’s narrative that guns are the bane of humanity, it’s unlikely they’ll get serious consideration.

The deeply conceited, old apparatchik who funded the gain-of-function of the Wuhan virus wants to further harm American liberty and health by depriving We, the People, of efficient capacity to protect ourselves, loved ones, and property.

    🖕fauci the fraud

Go back and watch “And the band played on” on HBO. In it, Alan Alda played Fauci as an egomaniac trying to throw himself in front of whatever was going on to get fame for himself. HE was the one who STOLE the French Strain of Aids and tried to claim it was his, HE called the researcher and told him since he wasn’t in charge, his AIDS study would never get funded. I am a scientist. A REAL scientist. I worked in a lab and on patients and healed people. Fauci is a stuffed shirt burocrat. The second you step out of the lab and into an office you’re nothing but a bloated gas bag trying to get fame. If he was as good as he says, he would have quit the job he’s in and gone back to the lab. Scientist my A$$.

Agree wholeheartedly! Fauci is none other than a professional buffoon who is constantly choking on his own narcissism-vomit. He seems to enjoy basking in the leftists/communists attention to his “wisdom,” which of course he exhibits nothing.

  • Don Ridge April 23, 2021, 1:33 pm

Dr? Fauci is a political quack. When he says anything I mute the TV, totally full of sh-t.

  • koldman April 23, 2021, 1:08 pm

The perfect counterpart to Bidens history of being proven wrong on everything political, Fauci has been wrong on virtually everything virus/health related for his entire carreer. Shocker that he is an MSM propaganda darling.

  • Winston April 23, 2021, 11:54 am

Anti-Bill of Rights Fauci is another mouthpiece for the Gates Foundation’s depopulation-through-vaccine agenda.

  • Easy Eddie April 23, 2021, 11:01 am

Remove guns from Democrats and their enablers in all the major urban (high-rise ghetto) areas, and the ‘gun violence’ thing goes away overnight. If another ‘fail safe’ is needed, have all the states enact constitutional concealed carry laws and criminals will find themselves living in fear.
Fauci is an octogenarian Democrat party operative and needs to put out to pasture.

  • FirstStateMark April 23, 2021, 10:56 am

Fauci reminds me of Martin Short imitating Irving Cohen. Give me a “C” a bouncy “C”. BTW, Fauci is an idiot.

  • Bubbinator April 23, 2021, 10:44 am

Fauci is quack. He has been part and parcel mixed up in this Chinese virus scam that had its dole purpose to remove President Trump from office. He is responsible for the lab funding somewhat in China! Nothing out of his mouth can be believed.

    • Jrp April 23, 2021, 2:59 pm

      Well said.

  • Slim April 23, 2021, 9:32 am

Seems like Fauci is the health hazzard.

  • Stephen April 23, 2021, 9:00 am

Excuse me? Fauci can’t even make up his own mind. That whole mask thing? Wear one, don’t wear one, now wear three? Give me a damn break! Before you make any comments on things you know nothing about? Get your head and your ass wired together on things you are supposed to be a damn expert on! What an ass!

  • D.J. April 23, 2021, 8:45 am

The ” good doctors ” fifteen minutes of fame , has turned
into fifteen months of senility .

  • William Propst April 23, 2021, 8:43 am

As Fauchi tries to expand his 15 minutes of fame, he is also expanding his views on something he knows nothing about. No better than listening to some leftist movie actor or singer.

  • James Miller April 23, 2021, 8:30 am

Fauci-ism is a public health issue.

  • dragonslayer April 23, 2021, 8:17 am

  • Red dog April 23, 2021, 7:19 am

F#$k FAUCI, he can’t even get the time of day correct.

  • Robert Hafetz April 23, 2021, 7:15 am

Joe Biden’s executive orders to control guns will have no effect on gun related crimes or mass shootings. There are three different kinds of mass shootings, terror, urban gang, and school and workplace rage shootings. They are all different and should not be seen as one event. School and workplace shooters are all mentally ill and fall into three diagnosis, Psychotic, antisocial personality (psychopath), and severe trauma as identified by DR. Peter Langman in his study Why Kids Kill, 2009. The solution is to allow the mental health system to mandate long term treatment and not allow the violent mentally ill to refuse it.
A mandated reporter can start the involuntary commitment process under PA 302 when they are aware of a credible threat but that only lasts for a week or two. Patients learn quickly how to get discharged by simply stating they feel better and don’t want to hurt anyone anymore. Then the most determined, deranged, compulsive, person is free to plan and carry out a violent act. In almost every case we know when a mentally ill person will act violently because they reveal themselves as they grow up. A good example of a preventable school shooter is Nicholas Cruz a traumatized, psychopath, who was known to be violent by the school, his peers, the police, the FBI, and his family.
More examples of mentally ill rage killers are, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa psychosis, Drew Golden Anti-social personality disorder (ASPD), Eric Harris ASPD, Michael Carneal psychosis, Andrew Wurst psychosis, Dylan Kleybold psychosis, Seung Hui Cho psychosis, Nicholas Cruz trauma and ASPD, Jeffery Wise, James Holmes psychosis. The list goes on. Modern treatments and medications are humane, very effective, and in many cases can be treated outpatient but it can’t work if they refuse.
What we can do is add a waiver of HIPPA on the background check form and make medical history part of the process. Psychosis, antisocial personality, and PTSD with a violent history are instant rejections. The FBI will then be mandated to interview the person. We could stop over 90% of these killers before they act.
We already have gun control we don’t have violent people control. Making the problem worse are defunding the police, DAs who refuse to prosecute crimes, no bail laws, early release of violent prisoners, and an open border allowing gangs and criminals to enter the country. Shootings have increased in cities like New York and Chicago that have severe gun control. Timothy McVeigh used a bomb to kill 168 people. The Boston Marathon killers made a pressure cooker bomb. No gun was needed. Until we learn to control violent people we control nothing and expose our people to a risk that could be prevented.

  • Gary Patrick Johnston April 23, 2021, 7:07 am

You will never fix a problem if you continue to mislabel it as ” Gun Violence ” when it really is a breakdown in societal norms with the disintegration of the two parent family at it’s core. It is easy to attack an object but that will never correct the underlying actual causes.

    • Thales April 25, 2021, 1:25 am

Bingo – The disintegration of the two parent family.

  • Charlie April 23, 2021, 6:12 am

Using data I compiled awhile back there were approx 40000 firearm deaths per yr. 34000 were suicide and gang related. I think we have other issues like mental health and gang violence that are much larger issues. BTW doctors kill over 250,000 people per yr through medical malpractice. 160,000 dead from alcohol and drugs.

  • graceythecat April 23, 2021, 6:08 am

Fake facia says make sure you are wearing a mask and sometimes two when you are committing violent acts of crime against people and banks!

  • paul (I'll call you what I want/ 1st Amendment) April 20, 2021, 12:54 pm

So why isn’t abortion a public health crises, seems to be more unborn killed then gun related deaths!

    • Thales April 25, 2021, 1:32 am

IF we can recapture our society from the current internal rot of Communism by the willfully ignorant, in decades to come, people will be aghast, wondering HOW Americans once justified murdering hundreds of thousands of our most innocent, our unborn.

  • bobs your uncle April 20, 2021, 12:14 am

How many dead from drug overdose? How many people killed in bathroom accidents? how many people killed by deer?

    • Charlie April 23, 2021, 5:59 am

How many dead from medical malpractice? Because your doctor has crappy handwriting? If we remove suicide (they will end it regardless of the instrument) guns kill 5% of what doctors do. Remove gang violence (because of course they bought those legally, sarcasm) and the number falls to around 2%. This is pre-covid data as we will never know how many they killed by “following the science”.

  • Blue Dog (he/him) April 19, 2021, 6:04 pm

The most dangerous place to stand in America is between Dr. Anthony Fauci and a camera.

I mean, he’s right, but he loves being on camera. There have been discussions in the past about gun violence as a public health issue. It seems like every day we are hearing about a new mass shooting, all over the country. Consider cars and all the improvements that have been developed over the last 40 years in the name of public safety. We know that gun violence is unsafe at any speed; why is the firearm industry so resistant to a little well-regulation in comparison to the auto industry?

    • Thoughtful (Me/I) April 23, 2021, 6:31 am

Blue, at it again? What is well-regulation? You’re an anti-gunner trying to convince folks that the 2A is not as important today as the day it became part of the the Bill of Rights. In my view, it is more relevant today. I don’t believe driving a car is mentioned in the Bill of Rights, in fact, mode of transportation is not. But self defense and the means to shake off tyranny? These rights belong to each of us fundamentally from our Creator, the 2A makes sure the tyrannical do not impose on that right. You are anti-freedom. Peddle you’re BS elsewhere.

      • Thales April 25, 2021, 1:36 am

AMEN brother! Couldn’t have said it better!

    • chuck April 23, 2021, 6:56 am

NO, he is NOT right. Gun violence is no more a national health issue than driving while texting!

    • Rob April 23, 2021, 7:02 am

Guns are not the issue. It’s the gangs and mentality is what’s wrong in this country. A gun is a tool just like a hammer or a pencil; all could be used as a weapon but it’s what the person behind the tool does with it. Dr. Fauci is also a problem; the man changes his mind like his underwear on what to do about the virus. Take what he says with a grain of salt.
