Federal Agents Crack Down on Illegal Glock Machine Gun Kits

Federal Agencies are starting to take action against illegal machine gun builders, specifically, people who modify Glock pistols into unregistered machine guns. With the rise in online retail outlets, a number of contraband makers have turned to less-known channels to market and sell illegal machine gun kits.

These parts include 80 percent conversion kits, kits marketed as airsoft parts that work with actual firearms and plainly illegal machine gun parts. The 80 percent kits and airsoft parts aren’t illegal as sold, but can, in some cases, be used illegally.

Because Glock pistols are so common, it’s easy to make universal parts to convert them from semi-automatic pistols to machine guns. While this is legal for certain manufacturers — and obviously airsoft enthusiasts — it is generally illegal for regular gun owners to build machine guns even if it’s legal for them to own firearms.

While some of these prosecutions are related to other crimes, two of the cases involved the federal agents investigating sales specifically, in Chicago and St. Louis.

In one case the ATF discovered a Chinese website that was selling full-auto conversion kits and requested a record of kit sales. The ATF opened an investigation on Garnell August Carter, 19, who used PayPal to purchase 13 conversion kits.

This in and of itself shouldn’t worry most gun owners, but it may indicate what steps the ATF and other law enforcement agencies could take under the new bump stock ban.

The President’s recent bump stock ban re-classified all bump stocks as machine guns. Few owners have complied with the ban, with hundreds of thousands of owners refusing to hand over their stocks.

The ban is facing legal challenges but so far, courts have sided with the President and the ATF. If the ATF or other agencies decide to dig into sales records, things could become ugly for anyone who bought a then-legal bump stock under current law.

For now, it appears that these agencies are focusing on people intent on committing serious crimes, not people caught up in the controversial bump stock ban. Time, and the courts, will tell what this means for formerly law-abiding citizens.

You really, honestly think everyone should be able to buy a gun krinky? Cause… Ya know that means the sodomites can too…

  • Scotty Gunn April 20, 2019, 7:51 pm

I don’t blame them for going after guys making and selling them, that is a no-no. I don’t understand how they can sell things illegal online, although they did say most were 80% completed.

TOR, bitcoin and the darkweb if the people transacting have an IQ over that of a houseplant.

  • Dan Gore April 19, 2019, 1:28 pm

No one has ever proven that bump stocks were used in Vegas. If you can find video of the shooting, what I’ve been told, it looked more like full auto, than a bump stock. This was from a combat veteran. Time for the ATF ,FBI, and DOJ to start telling the truth about all these “mass shootings “.

    • Jeff April 19, 2019, 5:10 pm

Dan, this is literally the dumbest post I’ve read all day… Take off your tin foil hat for a few days and see how it feels.

      • Gramps April 20, 2019, 12:16 pm

He’s not wrong though. There are people in charge of organizing our local disaster medical response team (DMRT) that have received information by investigators of the event that not only do they have now legit evidence that a bump stock was actually used, but they really do believe there were two shooters involved. Media blackout to save face.

      • Mike V April 20, 2019, 9:53 pm

I wouldn’t entirely discount it. I believe when GOA presented the argument in court that Vegas wasn’t proven to be facilitated by bump stocks, the government didn’t counter the claim or present evidence to the contrary. Maybe I missed something, but I think it was left at that.

      • Bob Young April 24, 2019, 11:38 am

Dan is right, the Vegas shooting was NOT done by one guy. The blinders are on those who try cover up this govt hit!!!

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:28 pm

Who cares? We are now banning things used lawfully by at a minimum tens of thousands of people because they are used in a single crime? On top of that there is nothing in the actual law to support the ban. A bumpstock is not even close to a machine gun under definition in federal law because it actuates the trigger one time per shot. The gun fires semi-auto.

    • Mike April 23, 2019, 5:43 am

You are right anyone with combat or military experience would tell you that it was a belt feed weapon doing the shooting. Belt feed weapons have a rhythm when firing. Automatic M-4 or bump stock do not have a rhythm when firing. They took the video down but the original video shows a SAW( squad automatic weapon) sitting on the couch with the bipod legs extended

What did anyone expect? Trump is a serial grifter, a conman. Anyone who thought he was going to protect the 2nd Amendment did now understand who he is.

    • James April 19, 2019, 7:01 pm

Right. Trump is a horrible president who conned us. We’d have been much better under Hillary or Bernie. Jackass 🙄

      • Blake August 8, 2019, 9:15 pm

We would’ve been better under Rand Paul. I like how Trump cultist pretend primaries aren’t a thing and act as if Trump was our only choice other than Hillary.

    • SomeTORguyonyourwifi October 31, 2020, 10:31 pm

[yawn] So you got an admittedly illegal bumpstock ban as opposed to the semi auto ban, magazine ban, national gun owner licensing, universal background checks, mail order ammo ban you would have gotten from Democrats if they were given half a chance to actually pass it. Let Quid Pro Joe get in with a Democrat congress and see what you get then.

  • Kevin Cote April 19, 2019, 11:28 am

Citizens have no constitutionally protected rights

You are probably not or ever have been a ” citizen” of any kind as defined by law.
You all need to start thinking and asking how your servants can tell you what you can have and what you can do.
If you claim to be party to the actual Constitution you have to correct your political status so you have standing and then they cannot touch you.

    • Wayne April 20, 2019, 12:17 pm

I know you were trying. You wouldn’t ask your “servants” you would ask your “master” or “lord”

      • Mike Watkins April 22, 2019, 2:45 am

No, Kevin has it exactly right: Those in D.C. or our State capitols “think” they are our “masters” or “lords,” but they definitely are NOT. They are supposed to be servants of WE THE PEOPLE. Kevin is saying, “How is it that we have got to the sad point that we ALLOW our servants to tell us what we can have and what we can do?”

And the answer as I see it, we are lazy and careless and inattentive. We pay so little attention to what our employees in D.C. do, that they pretty much ignore what we tell them, and get away with it. I know tons of guys who stick their chests out and talk big about how they are strong 2nd Amendment supporters, yet they aren’t even registered to vote.

Have you ever heard, we get the government we deserve? Yep, that’s happening.

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:33 pm

Nope. Elected officials are the servants of the people, not the other way around.

  • John0132 April 19, 2019, 10:48 am

Been a gun owner all my life. I am a big AR fan and own several. I own several legal suppressors, and hope one day to acquire a legal full-auto.

That said, I agree with the bump-stock ban, and I agree with ATF efforts to arrest people intent on assembling illegal full-auto weapons.

Bump-stocks have no useful purpose except to murder many people packed together like at a concert. In spite of advertising to the contrary, bump-stocks do not make your di$k grow bigger.

If you want a full auto, save your money and buy one. If you live in a communist state like Kalifornia or New Jerk, move! Honestly, I don’t know why you haven’t already!

    • krinkov545 April 19, 2019, 11:11 am

The verbal nonsensical diarrhea spewing forth from your vile mouth just flagged you as a cementheaded leftard.

    • Douglas Folsom April 19, 2019, 11:12 am

Actually, bump stocks do have a useful purpose, that of offering some one the fun of blasting a watermelon or a jug of water into oblivion. They are fun to shoot and good for ammo sales. Just because someone or someones have misused a bump stock to commit murder or some other crime doesn’t make the tool evil or useless. We can’t outlaw every tool or devise that someone missuses for evil.

    • Alan April 19, 2019, 11:44 am

      I support the second amendment…but.

Either you support the 2nd or you don’t, there is no but.

    • ~ Occams April 19, 2019, 12:06 pm

Wow. And you call yourself a ‘shooter’? Can’t even identify a 7.62 belt-fed weapon cadence at a (yet ANOTHER) False Flag event?

      ‘5.56 bumpstock’, my a$z

You also think that was a ‘real’ bomb at Boston, too?

Or Sandy Hoax ‘really happened’ (with an AR THAT WAS LOCKED IN THE TRUNK OF THE CAR!)

NZ? Know why it’s illegal to have or see that vid in NZ? BECAUSE IT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES IT’S STAGED!

SCRIPTED TO TAKE AWAY YOUR RIGHTS.

Not ONE ‘bumpstock’ has EVER been used in one, single crime.

So you know what? You listen to MSM and believe proven liars lying to you, you WILL lose your rights – just as you’re losing your country, by ‘good ol’ ‘Merikun gullibility’.

Wakey, wakey. Please? Before it’s too late?

“Americans are the most misled, misdirected, and therefore the most gullible people on the face of the planet” ~ Alan Hart, author.

      • allblues April 19, 2019, 2:36 pm

Occams, I suggest that you occasionally take off your tin foil hat, as it seems to be impeding circulation to the brain. Or are you just an anti gun troll who wants to make gun owners look stupid?

        1. Perhaps you can explain why the cadence of a belt fed 7.62 would vary, as is clearly heard in several firing sequences. This is a characteristic of a bumpfire stock, not a true machine gun.

        2. There is nothing more pathetic than a Sandy Hoaxer, not even a 9/11 truther. Stop watching idiotic You Tube videos. The AR that was allegedly locked in the trunk was actually a 12 ga. Saiga.

Your quote from Alan Hart is ironically accurate, given that you, along with 99.9% of conspiracy theorists fit his description perfectly.

      • Derek Hannan April 20, 2019, 4:29 pm

Wow! I hope this all tongue in cheek. Otherwise, did 911 happen? I watched that from Fulton street. Maybe it was just a 3D projection?

      • Martin House July 29, 2019, 2:28 pm

Occams, please have your municipal tap water tested.

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 11:12 pm

Would you people PLEASE get the help you need and stop saying Sandy Hook and the Boston marathon bombing were a hoaxes? And no, NZ’s censorship does not mean that was a hoax either. You sound absolutely insane. I am so sick of being lumped in with you nuts by the anti gun crowd.

    • allblues April 19, 2019, 12:45 pm

“Bump-stocks have no useful purpose except to murder many people packed together like at a concert. In spite of advertising to the contrary, bump-stocks do not make your di$k grow bigger.”

0132 You’re either a low grade troll or insufferably stupid. Can you cite a single crime using a bump fire stock other than Las Vegas? If Paddock was in fact the shooter he could easily have afforded virtually any transferable machine gun, up to and including a minigun. And does your foolish enthusiasm for this ban include equal enthusiasm for the fact that ATF unconstitutionally made law rather than regulation? And how about those whose property is being seized without Constitutionally required compensation? This case will give us a clear indication as to whether we are still bound by the Constitution or now subject to the whims of renegade political operatives.

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 11:06 pm

With his budget Paddock could have afforded a ricin attack by UAV and had money left to spare. Most people have no idea how lucky we are he had limited imagination and didn’t go biochemical.

    • I'm the dude, man! April 20, 2019, 3:52 am

People like you are the real threat we face. Your a gun snob who thinks he knows best. You clearly don’t know anything about the law or guns. Go troll somewhere else.

    • Gregory Romeu April 24, 2019, 10:42 pm

So,dumbass, you would much rather wait and spend the tens of thousands of dollars to buy your, “legal” full automatic weapon so that you can murder a whole bunch of people at a higher cost per round than by using the low budget bump stock at a cheaper rate. You must be one of those Left-Wingnuts that go to spend $5 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks just to be seen and appreciated by onlookers, rather than going to McDonald’s and get yourself a bottomless cup for $0.53 that is much better quality? A loser at most. I actually doubt that you even on suppressors because most people that own them don’t bother to use the term, “LEGAL suppressor” to describe them.

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:48 pm

Ding ding ding, I think we have a winner. 🙂 Well said. People like that guy will accept and even cheer on every cumulative restriction on their rights until there are no rights left.

    • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:41 pm

Your AR-15 has no purpose but to murder people. Your logic, you are just getting it back. It will be used on you soon enough by gun banning federal politicians too. Strange that something with no purpose other than to murder has only been used as far as I can tell in one crime. That said, your objection if nothing else should be that there is absolutely no legal basis for the ban. A bumpstock is not a machine gun or a machine gun conversion part under federal law. It operates the trigger one time for each round fired. The weapon fires semi automatic. It is not a machine gun in any legal sense of the term. You are apparently just OK with federal agencies and the executive branch re-writing laws on a whim. When they rewrite to say that your AR-15 is a machine gun because you can pull the trigger faster than they like we will see what you think then.

It’s people like you tolerating and even cheering on nanny state absurdity, in this case that which is not even remotely consistent with the law congress actually passed, who makes states like CA the way they are. YOU are the problem. Please move to CA and stay there.

  • Silverbullet April 19, 2019, 10:19 am

If you noticed , it’s the ones who bought many kits they were after and where he was from. Seems to me they’re doing there job. We all know with out the right class 3 no ones allowed full auto .
Bump stock does not a full auto make. There own investigation said that.

  • AmericanVet April 19, 2019, 9:46 am

quote: “Few owners have complied with the ban, with hundreds of thousands of owners refusing to hand over their stocks.”

If the author of this article bothered to read the ruling on this, owners are not required to hand them over, they have the option of destroying them themselves. Pulling purchase records won’t show or confirm whether someone has destroyed it themselves. How does the author or anyone know how many have been destroyed by the owner?

    • Mike V April 20, 2019, 10:00 pm

Likely knows by common sense. Most people aren’t in the habit of taking a couple hundred dollars worth of perfectly good stuff that they enjoy and dumping it in the trash. Maybe twenty years from now you could presume people might, but not right away, people still believe there’s a chance it gets reversed.

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:46 pm

It should be reversed because it has no actual basis in law. It also blatantly violates the 5th amendment which requires compensation for property taken. Forcing destruction is for all intents and purposes a taking as is requiring they be turned over to the government.

  • Russ April 19, 2019, 9:38 am

Funny the instances where these crimes are occurring and are being investigated are democratically controlled areas with big inner cities. Chicago and St Louis. Makes you wonder why most violent gun crimes committed by felons who are prohibited from owning or possessing firearms happen there. I guess it just re affirms the fact that guns laws need to be enforced. Make minimum mandatory sentences for re offenders. Stop with the nonsense new gun laws against law abiding citizens. We are not the problem. Criminals are. But wait the democrats think that criminals will actually turn in their illegally possessed and used guns that they commit crimes with. That’s how ridiculous they are. SMH.

    • ro April 19, 2019, 10:11 am

      Russ,

give it a break Russ….anyone in power wants you disarmed….talking democrat vs republican just splits the gun community. Questions: who backed the bump stock reclassification……you got it….someone in power because his political team thought it would be good for a soundbite.

We have to be smarter than this Russ

remember, the 2d isn’t about hunting or target shooting…its about having the capability to overthrow those in power when they abuse power

      • ~ Occams April 19, 2019, 12:08 pm

Exactly, ro. The Right-Left BS is simply to divide the people so the criminals in government can continue, unabated.

POLITICIANS want guns banned. For your stated reason.

        • allblues April 19, 2019, 1:03 pm

Mostly wrong. The Stupid Party is certainly not the stalwart defender of the Constitution and particularly the 2nd amendment that they claim to be, but the Party of Satan is getting ever more vocal in their desire to disarm the serfs, with a certain presidential candidate advocating a forced confiscation and “buyback” of firearms that are specifically subject to Constitutional protection. (Miller, 1939). You’ll also notice that every other Satanic candidate is fully on board with draconian regulations, aimed squarely at honest citizens rather than those who criminally misuse firearms.

          • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:58 pm

At the federal level the GOP did quite well on the 2nd amendment. They’ve kept Trump, a former NY Democrat, in line on everything other than the bumpstock ban which is about as good as you could realistically hope for. Anybody who thinks they can do better with Nancy, Chucky and quid pro Joe, give it a shot, see what happens.

        • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 11:02 pm

If the GOP wanted guns banned they would be banned to whatever extent the courts would allow and they wouldn’t have even had to scrap the filibuster to do it. Who exactly would have stopped them? Chucky and Nancy? The positions of people like you that the parties are the same on gun control or a whole host of other issues are suicidal for gun and a whole lot of other rights. Do 4 years with mass incarceration 1994 AWB writing quid pro Joe in the whitehouse with a Dem Senate run by Chucky and a Dem house run by Nancy and see what you think then. You will be squealing like a pig a year into it.

      • SomeTORguyonurwifi October 31, 2020, 10:53 pm

Pretending there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans on gun control is nothing short of delusional. Yes you got an admittedly illegal bump stock ban, as opposed to the semi auto ban, magazine ban, gun owner licensing, ammo background checks, mail order ammo ban, “armor piercing” meaning pretty much any center fire rifle round ban, smokeless powder ban, back ground checks on reloading supplies, background checks on gun parts, and all the other things Democrats are relentlessly pushing for. Let quid pro Joe get in with a Dem congress and see how you do.

  • D Lee April 19, 2019, 8:06 am

Yeah, better make sure to focus on “serious crimes” like those evil freedom loving people that want to shoot full auto!
