Feinstein Pushes Gun Control, Grassley Signals Interest

Sen. Dianne Feinstein wasted no time calling for tougher gun laws in the wake of the Parkland, Florida school shooting that left 17 dead.

On Twitter Wednesday, the California Democrat wrote, “Another mass shooting. Reportedly another AR-15. My bill to ban assault weapons is ready for a vote. How long will we accept weapons of war being used to slaughter our children?”

Feinstein continued the charge on Thursday, pleading with Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley to take up the issue at a committee meeting, reports Bloomberg.

“What are we going to do? How many school shootings do we need in a given year?” asked Grassley, during the meeting. “I’m here to say, Mr. chairman please, let’s take some action, we cannot see this continue on.”

Grassley reportedly told Feinstein that he had planned to do something on gun control before the shooting. Adding that he wanted to meet with her and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) to “see what sort of an agreement we can reach on legislation.”

“It’s just very hard to sit here year after year and do nothing,” said Feinstein.

What will likely be discussed is the Fix NICS Act. A bipartisan bill designed to ensure federal and state authorities are submitting relevant mental and criminal history records to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

Sponsors of the bill include both Cornyn and Feinstein, along with Chris Murphy (D-CT), Tim Scott (R-SC), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Dean Heller (R-NV), and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).

Along with Fix NICS, Feinstein’s ban on trigger cranks and reciprocating stocks will get some attention. Support for this measure also crosses party lines.

Not likely to get serious consideration is Feinstein’s black rifle ban nor efforts to criminalize private transfers. Bills to do either have been met with considerable opposition over the years. Most notably, in 2013, when the Senate voted down universal background check legislation and an “assault weapons” ban.

Who knows, though.  I trust politicians about as far as I can throw ’em. We’ll have to keep a close eye on Congress in the coming days and weeks.

Now would be a good time for the “Art of the Deal”. we give them a 21 age limit on semi autos and a ban on bump stocks. maybe some other stuff like strengthen existing laws…? we get the hearing protection act and concealed carry reciprocity act passed at the same time and only in conjunction. I hope they dont give these shortsighted people ANYTHING without getting something in return. we need to strengthen GUN RIGHTS while thowing the dems some bones. the assault on gun rights is on so might as well get something for it while we can otherwise these bills for gun owners will never pass. call it “THE GUN CONTROL ACT OF 2018”. that should shut them up. and by no means should we ever go back to another ban.

    • OFBG March 4, 2018, 9:00 pm

You are sadly mistaken. There is no deal to be made. When the anti-gun lobby talks about “compromise” they mean that you compromise your rights by giving them what they want.

  • Common sense February 18, 2018, 11:27 pm

Lets just put it out there and just think about this? Anti gunners and liberals who spend not caring about the American people but choose to cause problems but think a moment , you take all our guns away from the people and our military is being reduced and not supplied with best fighting weapons we can give them and now a third word countrys want to get together and take over America and and all you have is a bunch of cry babes with stones and sticks and signs trying to fight off a big army who going to kill all our men and rape our women and daughters and kill them after they have dine horrible things to them , and kill our children and all these liberal and antigunners will save us with there chants and cry’s about where is the goverment and why are they not saving them. While the criminals with there guns are surviving and killing the enemy who invades our country. Thats why when it happens make sire you grab a antigunner or liberal and put them at the front so it gives us enough time grab our guns to fight back and reclaim our rights to protect ours selves from other evading country and liberals and anti gunners and Bloomsburg… Common sense. Think about it….

  • Hank February 18, 2018, 11:11 pm

Our airports have high security and sporting events have a high level of security. Our schools have gun free zone signs. Which method actually deters violent crime?
The answer to the feel good statement of , “We have to do something!” is obvious. Has anyone heard about armed protection as part of the solution from any media outlet? It may come out when Bloomberg runs out of money.

  • joseph February 18, 2018, 9:01 pm

when the governors of CONN, NEW YORK BOTH LIBERALS wanted citizens to register their semi auto AR15, AK47 95% REFUSED to do. they did this because they already knew the motive behind it, pinpoint law abiding gun owners who own AR15, AK47, CONFISCATION. WHEN are law abiding legal gun owners going to unite WITHOUT waiting for the NRA and scream ENOUGH, NO MORE INFRINGMENT ON OUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!!, WHEN???????. legal gun owners remind me of a heavyweight boxer that refuses to raise his hands in the ring. keep taking shots to the head and do nothing in responce

  • Batman February 18, 2018, 8:54 pm

All these Fucktard responses- theories, comments, opinions ALL HOT AIR. No solutions. The person(S) that do have the “workable” answer that will make the right and left happy and stop the killing: my advice – Patent it before you give it to government. Sell it and you’ll be a fuckin Billionaire.

the democrats are full of shit as usual. the murder rate in Russia is 5 times higher than that of the USA. guns have been banned in Russia almost 100 years ago. the weapon of choice in russia are knives. I have supervised THE most dangerous SCUM that walks the earth and if they want to kill someone they will do it with whatever is available. when MUSLIM terrorists in SPAIN, FRANCE, UK could not obtain AK47’S WHEN THEY NEEDED THEM THEY USED trucks to run over their victims. I believe the mass shootings in the USA are the work of deep state communist LIBERAL DEMOCRATS, their goal is to disarm the US population by ANY means.DEMOS already all of the above BUT use gun control agenda to fundraise and for votes. liberal democrats are NOT patriots, they hate AMERICA and all it stands for, all its values. they work tirelessly to stop free speech, freedom of religion, the 2nd amendment, 4th amend search seizure, etc. THANK GOD for president trump, our only hope if the American people don’t wake up and start to fight back this threat that already has a foothold

  • roger February 17, 2018, 3:46 pm

Now push for the “semi auto firearm ban” is coming out because he got the rifle legally. Cruz passed the Federal Background Check. Blame the gun not the person. The school is a posted GUN FREE ZONE. Murder is a crime. Even though he broke the laws, IT is the guns fault.
The Only option to stop all future killing with guns:is to ban all firearms , toss the 2nd amendment of our constitution and have the UN confiscate firearms door to door.🙂

    • Jennings Bunn II February 18, 2018, 9:25 am

And you are one of the stupid Liberals who blame the gun and not the shooter. No doubt you are also against “profiling”, another foolish mistake. “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck”, it is most likely a duck. Same goes for those who break our laws. Oh, call up the “race card” right quick. Statistics prove that a certain group of people do the highest percentage of crimes in this Country. You can call me “racist” all you want, but I am only telling the truth, which appears to have no credence to the Democratic Liberal politicians, like Finestein, Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, et al.

      • Mike V February 20, 2018, 9:57 am

Reads like sarcasm to me. Probably not a “stupid liberal”.

  • Benedict J. Straka Sr. February 17, 2018, 8:58 am

To Senator Fienstien: Can you answer my three questions?. If guns are the problem how do they select their victims?.
If guns are the problem how do they get to the crime scene?. If guns are the problem why are they not given their miranda
rights after a shooting?. And can you show me where in the Bill of Rights that when most of the people want something it
    will be given them.

62,000 Americans died from prescription opioids last year, yet there is no ban proposed by the US ruling class in Washington, DC and no ban will be proposed.

I said it before humans will kill each other until hell freezes over. They have been killing each other form the beginning of time.It will never stop no matter if you take all the guns, knives, clubs you name it away.We as humans are known as natural born killers. The more the world become populated the more killings there will be.There are so many reasons for it.For example Bullying in school creates hate.Go to a sports game they fight even then.Road rage. How many times do people give each other a finger.Even in the work place.workers can’t even get along there. One thing leads to another and before you know it there’s a fight. We can’t even agree on articles we print like the one I am printing now. Some one will comment something asinine and before you know it you have a disagreement of words. If Mr Bloomberg is so set on taking the gun away from the American people then maybe he should disarm his security guards and teach what he preaches. How many guns dose he have in his cabinet.

  • Charles Rhodes February 16, 2018, 8:22 pm

Why don’t we really doo something about Protecting kids in gun free zones. This is where these attacks always take place. Arm and train Qualified people who can stop these massacres by using force.
In America we always try to disarm the citizens while ignoring the Liberal killers. Even in war zones libs like to handicap our troops by limiting their ability to strike the enemy. Their kind of thinking makes targets of our troups in the field and our children at home.

  • liquidators1 February 16, 2018, 12:51 pm

Something that I have not seen any politician talk about are the video games young people are playing today. All they are doing is killing, killing and killing. Progressives punish kids who use their finger and say bang, bang your dead. But, no one is saying playing videos all day where you are constantly killing people creates a culture that loses its sense of responsibility towards others and some kids begin to look forward to killing an actual real person.

    • Bill February 16, 2018, 2:35 pm

This is where this problem starts
But nobody is talking about it.

    • Batman February 16, 2018, 6:17 pm

I agree, the movie industry, music industry, and video gaming industry all have a hand in this- pumping out a barrage of violent content to our children in the name of artistic expression ( they say). Kids have very impressionable minds.

    • Capn Stefano February 16, 2018, 10:00 pm

Wrong target… I’m 57 and play combat mech and space fighter sims as they keep your mind and neural targeting centers sharp. Dangerous, violence inducing Pharma is given to boys, along with being raised by single mothers, and yes, also demonic possession is a possibility with those drugs http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5398625/Demon-voices-school-gunman-attack-cops-called-39-times.html

    • Jennings Bunn II February 18, 2018, 9:37 am

You are correct, but it isn’t only the games. If you will note, all the “New” programs coming on television are all crime shows. Most everything on prime time is crime oriented. Also check out the movies that are out now. These “action movies” all deal in violence, killing, murder. What happened to the agency responsible for the content of what is put before the public? Our Society has lost touch with reality, or perhaps glamorizing being a criminal, and allowing those murderers, rapist, child molesters to again walk the streets in search of another victim.

  • Mike Watkins February 16, 2018, 12:47 pm

Here’s how gun control works, Ms. Feinstein:

Your neighbor has too many kids. So from now on, you and your husband are banned from having sex. See how well that solves the problem?

  • Bobs yer uncle February 16, 2018, 12:29 pm

What do all the school shooters have in common? anti-depressant drugs. mix those with alcohol, weed, what have you, add firearms, what a surprise, disaster. The big drug companies all advertise in the media so no one is going to say anything that might harm that revenue. WAKE THE F— UP AND STOP PRESCRIBING THESE DRUGS.

  • Raymond Phillips February 16, 2018, 12:16 pm

Feinstein doesn’ mind if Illegal immigrants kill Americans, because we can’t blame the majority for the acts of a few. Yet a nut shoots some kids and she has no problem blaming the majority for the acts of the few. I guess a life is only important to liberal and corrupt politicians if it can be used against American citizens and to detroy the Constitution.

  • Eric OBrien February 16, 2018, 11:40 am

I know I’m going to get a lot of flak for saying this, but I think I’ve got an idea that might help. (Albeit by a some.) We’ve found that the vast majority of these kind of shootings are committed by young, mentally unstable people. And although I would concur with some of my fellows here about re-opening our mental health institutions, and passing the FIX-NICS bill, think it might worth looking raising the minimum age for purchasing modern sporting rifles like AR-15s, Ruger minis and the like. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about a ban. I would only suggest that how we allow young men’s brains to develop a bit more before allow them to buy their own. An exemption to this might be military service. When we think on it, we already do that with handguns, and liquor — we require a big-boy and big-girl license for buying those things. Why not let them wait to buy their own. And if they’re really that keen on shooting up a school, make em’ use a bolt action and some precision to take out their bully, that’s usually what causes kids to do this crap in the first place.

    • Area 52 February 16, 2018, 2:20 pm

The problem is the anti gun crowd will never be happy until a total gun ban is in place. Today its raise the age of purchase to 21. However, mass shootings in the past had shooters well beyond that age. The LV shooter was in his 60s. If we bow down and give the anti gun crowd something, they are going to claim victory for gun control. They are going to say that gun owners really want gun control and they are going to want more.

      • Bobby McQ February 16, 2018, 4:57 pm

Agree with you; raising it to 21 won’t stop mass shootings altogether. But raising it to 21+, for auto-loading weapons only, might be effective in reducing SCHOOL SHOOTINGS, which are frequently carried out by young people who can’t handle the angst or bullying or rejection or what have you. By 21, many/most have moved on. I do think it’s worthy of consideration.

        • Jennings Bunn II February 18, 2018, 9:54 am

My dad gave me my first gun, a .22 cal. rifle, when I was 13 years old, which I still have at 76. Neither myself nor my friends who had guns ever had the thought of killing the assholes in our class, and there were a few. It is NOT the gun that is the problem. It is the Society that has given up on disciplining children. Parents are no longer held responsible for the actions of their children. Teachers are not allowed to discipline students, but must be subjected to foul language, smart mouth ignorance, and bodily harm because the public attitude allows these future criminals to get by with doing that. And the media presents lies and totally misleading crap concerning crimes perpetrated by the minority.

    • Bob February 16, 2018, 3:44 pm

      Your comment is extremely illogical.
We’ve found that the vast majority of these kind of shootings are committed by young, mentally unstable people.
I would only suggest that how we allow young men’s brains to develop a bit more before allow them to buy their own. An exemption to this might be military service.
You contradict yourself by stating the shootings are committed by young mentally unstable people and then somehow they get older and their brains develop more and then they can buy their own gun?? What are you smoking man???
Then you say: And if they’re really that keen on shooting up a school, make em’ use a bolt action and some precision to take out their bully, that’s usually what causes kids to do this crap in the first place.
I wish I could just delete your comment entirely because you are a moron…..

    • Bobby McQ February 16, 2018, 4:52 pm

I agree, I think it’s worth considering. I am as wary of incremental “infringement” on our rights as anybody, and I mean ANYBODY. But raising the age to purchase auto-loading weapons to 21, or even 25, would give young adults time to get over the “angst” they felt in high school, and I don’t think would significantly impede the rest of US from continuing to arm ourselves against threats to our persons, families, societies, and civilization.

    • mark haney February 16, 2018, 7:57 pm

the recent school shooter was only 17 when he purchased his gun, but he was on psychotropic medication and heard voices telling him to do it. changing the age when they can purchase a weapon won’t stop them from stealing one or using someone else gun. with the gun laws in place how did he purchase his weapon? you have to be 21 in my state.

    • Capn Stefano February 16, 2018, 10:05 pm

Eric, you are assuming that the deadly enemies of our Republic will stop and be happy with that concession. They will not stop until you can only own a single shot .22 or musket, and 10 rounds of ammo

  • Bob February 16, 2018, 10:45 am

Feinstein says: Another mass shooting. Reportedly another AR-15. My bill to ban assault weapons is ready for a vote. How long will we accept weapons of war being used to slaughter our children?
What an absolutely ignorant wench!! Let’s keep our gun free school zones so that crazy aholes can continue to carry out these attacks on the unarmed occupants of our schools. Liberal democratic morons once again wanting to blame the AR-15 for the deaths rather than the coward who pulled the trigger or all the morons who came out afterwards and said, yeah he is the one who is most likely to shoot up a school. By the way, who let the moron into the school? How did he get past the security in place? If you want to fix a problem you have to first be able to identify what the problem is and it’s not possessing an AR-15.

    • mark haney February 16, 2018, 8:04 pm

isn’t it strange that every time they are going to have a pretend scenario some psycho shows up and starts shooting. false flag to get our guns or taking our eyes off all the corruption in DC of late. every time trumps people arrest hundreds of pedophiles another shooting happens. after they figured out there were more than one shooter in las vegas the main stream media shut up.

  • tyler kent February 16, 2018, 10:18 am

Funny how no one ever asks Feinstein, “In which war were AR-15s used?”

    • JoeUSooner February 16, 2018, 2:13 pm

Exactly!! That moron has no understanding of Reality.

    • Capn Stefano February 16, 2018, 10:07 pm

Argument null. The original select fire auto was called an AR15. Also, stop trying to reason with these demonic termites, they want to destroy our Republic, and must disarm us first. If you aren’t preparing for that then you’re doing it wrong

  • Sherman Crneckiy February 16, 2018, 9:19 am

It is time to protect our children as well as we protect our money. Abolish “Gun Free Zones”. They are nothing but an invitation to harm innocents. Install armed guards at all schools. More precious than money are children are. Is there a politician out there brave enough to promote this new policy?

  • Jay February 16, 2018, 9:17 am

I think it’s sad when no one can even talk about the real problem here. It’s not crazies, it’s not electronics, it’s not all the distractions, even though they add up and contribute. It most certainly is not the gun and or so called gun culture. If we look at the big picture what we have is the result of a deep and purposely done moral degradation of society. If those who want control can disrupt society to the point of no one being ready to admit the real problem, or agree that there is one, they have won! I am not a Bible thump-er but have been called a truth-er, meaning I don;t care if someone likes what I say, it’s the truth. To some that would even make me an ass, so be it. We allowed prayer to stop, Bibles to be banned, Statues to be destroyed, Anthems to be disrespected, dishonesty to be accepted, drugs use is rampant, disrespect is the norm, violence glorified and I could go on and on. Without the acceptance, that we all, no matter who it might be to you, will have to answer to a higher power for how we treat one another, the hope is slim but still there. What we see is what the good book warned of and it’s not the Bible that’s wrong but in today’s world of how we perceive it, the powers that be have destroyed morality and that’s just what they have wanted! You don’t have to look that far back in the past to see you could order guns out of a catalog, park your truck at school with a rifle on the rack in the rear window, leave your doors unlocked etc… but that was a time of building and instilling morals and moral character! During that time people actually taught that to their children and other children were examples of morality to those around them, parents that we didn’t even know could chastise us for saying a bad word and no one try to sue them, or get offended for doing so. A parent could snatch little Johnny up in the middle of the super market and smack his ass for misbehaving and no one thought a damn thing about it but well he needed it. Sometimes reliving the past is what the future needs if we are to survive ourselves! We obviously have not only forgotten the past but are allowing it to be destroyed, so no one can learn from it. United we stand, divided we fall!

    • Luke February 16, 2018, 12:03 pm

Well-said, Jay. But, baring a civil war or other such major societal correction, population centers in the United States are too far gone socially. Look at the number of voters who supported Hillary Clinton: that’s a fairly serious indication of how wide-spread illiteracy and an abject lack of critical thinking has influenced judgement. There is no way to reverse that. And, it will get worse because life is too soft in the United States and higher education has become just another name for indoctrination. We’re pretty much hooped! There are two things that Congress did in the 70’s that were incredibly foolish: abolished the draft and lowered the voting age. HUGE mistakes for American society. Now, it’s clearly evident that the entire political world is rapidly moving in the direction of natural prophecy in works like “Animal Farm”, “1984” and “Fahrenheit 451”. I am not optimistic.

      • Shan February 18, 2018, 1:56 pm

Fahrenheit 451. Thats is so true. Right on man. Scary times we live in.

    • Frank Romo February 16, 2018, 12:12 pm

Well stated, you hit on every keynote. It all comes down to respect, when growing up, I was taught how to shoot by my uncle. He couldn’t emphasize enough the dangers of playing with a weapon, every gun is loaded, you don’t point at anything, unless it’s the intended target, or hunting, I was well instructed. My father who fought during the Burma conflict had seen his share of firsthand combat shooting and didn’t participate. All of this took place when I was 10 years of age, I knew where my uncle kept his pistols, rifles and ammo. Never did I encroach the weapons or think about playing with them. Respect. As an 18 year old I was in the military for my service during Vietnam, I was issued a weapon and a camera. I returned after my extended tour, yes, I fired my weapon and camera. Many years later on, I read where Diane Feinstein stated that all ex-military are mentally unfit to own a weapon…What! So, it was ok to fire a weapon while serving my country but now couldn’t own a weapon? Where did this country go off the rails? It all comes down to respect, from the politicians on down…everytime there’s a mass shooting, the left’s knee jerk response is to remove all guns. Well, what about drunk drivers, fatalities from that have taken over 34,000 lives each year, give or take, think about that. Where’s outrage to remove all vehicles from the roads? The left wants more gun controls, we have more than last year, what’s needed is enforcing those laws, not imposing more laws. Ok, I’m sorry for climbing on my soap box, I get carried away…

  • Phil February 16, 2018, 8:35 am

If you want to fix this then.
Ban drug companies from reaching settlements with families of depressed shooters that were on their drugs. Ban guns from houses where the kids are on these meds. Parents need to be fully informed that there is a link between these meds and homicidal mania in some patients. Take depressed kids who need these meds into a proper place where they can get treatment. There is a common link here with ritalin, prozac and a bunch of other anti depressants.

    • Capn Stefano February 16, 2018, 10:09 pm

Phil, you’re getting near the bullseye there, but the real issue is these drugs are deadly POISON and should be banned

  • Jerry kipikas February 16, 2018, 8:31 am

According to statistics “assault rifles” account for between 1-2% of murders in the U.S. It makes about as much sense to ban these as it does to ban aircraft for travel. Both have relatively small percentages but are both big news when it happens. Why the rush to ban so-called assault rifles–because they’re presently the most popular class of firearm purchased. Once that’s accomplishef then the gun grabbers can work down the line. Politicians are after one thing–power. Hard to have ultimate power if someone is willing to stand up for the principles the country was founded on. I was listening to Geraldo on Hannity the other night and he was mentioning how fast the AR-15 fires. News flash for Geraldo–thats a trait of all semi-autos. Maybe a test for politicians and media types would be to show them pics of an AR-15 next to a Remington 7400 in 30/06 and ask which is more dangerous. Or a standard Ruger 10/22 next to one thats been “dressed up” in black. Try it with your friends. Very enlightening.

    • Raymond Phillips February 16, 2018, 12:24 pm

Actuually the statistic is all rifles and the number is .012 % more people are killed by knives or blunt instuments.

  • mike ryan February 16, 2018, 8:19 am

God bless all the families in the Florida school – I thought it appropriate to discuss a history lesson here – it is a teachable moment.
History lesson – The ACLU lobbied governments to change the laws and end/empty mental institutions about 50 years ago. Society as a whole decided that freedom was more important than anything else. It is almost impossible to get a person “committed” to a hospital for mental illness if they have not committed a crime. It requires an impossible level of doctor opinions to do this. We need to make certain that a mental illness diagnosis is not used as a political football or in bad divorces to take away a person’s right to freedom. Only two choices here – allow teachers to carry guns in school (zero cost) and/or start paying for mental evaluations and imprisoning people who have not yet committed a crime. Please say a prayer for all their families today.

    • Gyver February 16, 2018, 8:48 am

No need for armed teachers. Armed security at entrances. Deny entrance and many will be saved.

      • KimberproSS February 16, 2018, 9:40 am

Exactly. I would be for an armed teacher only if that individual was trained and committed. Since the vast majority of teachers are progressive liberals, that probably won’t work. The problem is the progressive liberal mindset of the “Gun”. Guns are evil, they cannot be allowed in the school. BS. If a sick human told the local press that they were going to enter a school and kill as many as possible sometime in the next month, what would we do. Probably post armed security at the schools. Unfortunately there is no sociopath telling the press this right now, nor did he in FL. So maybe it will happen tomorrow, why aren’t the armed security posted. Haranguing on mental illness and gun control is waste $ and time. We could ban all firearms and have strict controls over them and any mentally ill person and there will still be sociopaths killing people. In the words of W. LaPiere, the only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. The way it always has been, the way it always will be.

      • joefoam February 16, 2018, 9:40 am

Agree completely. More money is spent protecting our ‘precious’ legislators, airports, transportation hubs banks, etc. than on our children. Dear Ms. Feinstein, it’s not the gun type, it’s the maniac behind it. If somehow all guns were to disappear from the face of the earth, man would still kill man as they have since the dawn of time with everything from rocks to nuclear weapons. The thought that, in the absence of guns, some utopian society would emerge is ridiculous at best, more likely delusional. I hope all you folks in CA that voted for this woman are proud of yourselves for giving away your rights for some entitlement she promised you.

There are 320 million people in the United States .Because of the LACK of Discipline , Responsibility , and Respect , today which exists because our Educators are more concerned about teaching kids SELF_ESTEEM instead , coupled with the constant pushing of the stupid non-competition standard these days , none of which prepares kids for the reality of life . Competition ,bullying , lack of fairness , are all parts of everyday life .Without Discipline respect and responsibility kids are unable to cope so when a problem in their lives comes along they try to increase their self esteem by destroying the source of their perceived trouble . Starting to teach children in the traditional way that evolved over thousands of years makes more sense than subscribing to the modern Psychobabble that has surfaced since the end of WW2 . Banning firearms ,a constitutionally guaranteed freedom of 320 million people because a few abuse the freedom is wrong . This right exists so citizen may protect themselves from ALL ENEMIES both foreign and Domestic . Politicians are always weak kneed but also looking to have better control on their power . Thats why Dictators always pass sweeping Gun-control before the whip comes down . If you learn nothing else today , learn that truth .

I love how the ‘common sense’ cliche gets throw out from a holes who have no common sense at all. They are attacking the gun lobby, and law abiding gun owners, not the shooter.

Lets grow up and see these kids today have access to the worst thing in the world……..smart phones. they do not know how to interact with real people and live in a virtual world. their thinking comes from a device attached to their hand and a cold white screen has became their world. Cyber bullying should have never been a word but until it goes away these kids cannot destroy their percieved enemys via a video game where someone is shot or blown up only to come back when hitting RESET. There is no RESER in the real world and the person pulling the trigger to often does not know it in their mind until it is too late. Common sense would dictate taking away the devices that begin the cycle. Everyone knows it but until the smartphone is gone killings and suicides will continue!!

Whoa……. The true face of the cause for a “Civil Commitment”. The good senator does not and never has a clue about anything real. She lives in a her own reality. She is typical of most “Lefty’s” in the great state of CA. When the next big “Earth Shake” takes place, the best thing that could happen is that CA and a good chunk of Mexico slides into the ocean. It would be a boon if when it happened they were holding a democratic national convention……….

The Israeli’s suffered through two school shootings before they quickly came up with the solution. They armed the teachers who qualified and also installed armed guards. Problem solved. Here in the U.S.A the politicians and the large teachers unions REFUSE to do the same because they are more interested in their political goal of banning all firearms than they are interested in protecting our children. The American Left has allowed these mass murders to continue since the Columbine attack in April 1999. Think about that for a minute. Almost 19 years of slaughter so that they can disarm us. Pure evil.

  • Buck Ofama February 16, 2018, 5:41 am

Another mass shooting, same tired and worn-out liberal arguments. Until we get SERIOUS about re-opening MENTAL INSTITUTIONS and WAREHOUSING lunatics like this POS that perpetrated this act, then things like this will continue. All schools should also have controlled/limited access, ARMED security/school marshals (in addition to police) AND teachers who want to ought to be allowed to carry concealed in a secure manner in order to protect these kids. Gun control? Really? Banning AR-15’s (again). The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again. DemocRATS can’t ever seem to come up with any real ideas. And they can all go to hell as well as any and all RINO’s who think that the second amendment is negotiable.

    • Thomas Amann February 16, 2018, 8:12 am

the problem is that in theory or rights are natural unalienable if you will , but that can end with the stroke of a pen . Then what? Civil war?b How many would be ready for that?

  • Billly M February 16, 2018, 5:10 am

If they truly want to reduce the number of shootings, let teachers and administrators, who want to get trained and carry, get trained and carry. When these nut cases go into a school, they may shoot a few people but they will at some point meet an opposing force that can possibly stop them. Churches are no longer sanctuaries, quit treating schools like they are.

    • JoeBoy5471 February 16, 2018, 7:29 am

It is all common sense…….. You are absolutely correct. I hate to say it that we need a few more attempts at a “Mass Shooting” which are foiled by armed citizens and/or security personnel. The nut jobs will get the message……….

  • Richard Escareno February 16, 2018, 5:09 am

Instead of more anti-gun laws, why not have armed security forces in all schools like all government buildings around the country & have harden barriers around the perimeter of the schools with panic rooms which students can go into in case of a disastrous shooting incident. That would be a more constructive approach to saving innocent lives.

Stop talking about gun control and have some personal responsibility to report odd behavior and comments so these individuals can get the help they need.

Every anti-gun organizations and persons are speaking for more gun control after the Florida shooting. But, the 19 yr old that did the shootings was known to be unstable and no one did anything to stop him before it happened. His parents, classmates, and teachers knew he was unstable. Classmates have reported that he talked frequently about shooting fellow classmates. The FBI was sent a YouTube video of him making comments about shooting kids at school months before the the kid did this and the FBI did nothing. We do not need more gun control. We need people around these unstable and destructive individuals to step up and get these individuals some mental health care that they need.

Blue Dog’s comments are defiantly an anti-gun. Gun control will never solve this type of shootings when an individual is need of mental care of the upmost. Please state the facts first before you make comments on more gun control that would not have stopped this person.

I will agree that the timing is tacky but the message is not. How often do we have to have this conversation? How many times must we bicker about common sense safety concerns over the bodies of dead children in schools? How many times can you argue that everything is fine and nothing needs to change? Any crackpot who wants a bump stock should have one (But this time it wasn’t a bump stock! That was 5 months ago!) or a pistol brace (Ha! That one hasn’t happened! …Yet.) or a weapon of war stolen from a relative that didn’t have the weapon secured with a trigger lock in the home (psh, that was like 5 years ago) or hi-cap magazines (… ok, that was this time. Too.).

    • BUURGA February 16, 2018, 3:43 am

WHAT needs to be changed? There an estimated 13,000,000 AR15 style weapons in American citizen’s hands. ONLY ONE OF THEM WAS USED IN THE SCHOOL SHOOTING. That’s 13,000,000 to ONE. Quit blaming the weapon or availability, the problem is, and has been, school security. This nitwit was well known and nothing was done about him. Same old crap. Some maniac gets to wag the lives of millions of people because fools like Diane Feinstein says so.

    • Sekhar S Rao February 16, 2018, 3:52 am

Let me guess…. you arrived here via a link from the Huffington Post?

  • Mark February 15, 2018, 5:26 pm

Why don’t you give up your armed security detail Sen. Feinstein?

    • BUURGA February 16, 2018, 3:44 am

      That will be the day.

    • Mike February 16, 2018, 6:24 am

Every time someone kills themselves or gets killed over posts on Twitter, Facebook, et al, I don’t hear her clamoring for common sense free speech laws or permits to speak or use social media ….. and yeah, when she and the other 534 of the ruling class give up their security details and personal weapons, then I’ll take them seriously. Even then, I won’t agree with them, I’ll just believe that they believe it’ll make us all safer like Carter’s unilateral disarmament did. Oh. Wait.
