The states of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York entered into an agreement last week allowing state law enforcement agencies to share information about gun purchases across state lines.

“Despite our best gun safety laws, we have more damn guns on the street than we ever had before,” Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said in an online announcement with the other three states. “And if you’re not taking guns seriously, you’re not taking law and order seriously.”

“I’m proud that CT has some of the lowest levels of gun-related and violent crime in the US,” he added on Twitter. “I’m even more proud to join NJ, NY, &; PA in today’s multi-state compact to track and trace guns.”

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) directs state law enforcement agencies to transmit all “crime gun data” with the exception of “traces that have been designated priority and/or sensitive.” The frequency of these transmissions will be determined by the states, but the MOU allows agencies to transmit all data prior to the agreement.

The data is only allowed to be used for “law enforcement purposes” and is to be “protected against unauthorized use.”

Even though these states boast some of the strictest gun laws in the country, they’re still dealing with the violent crime wave that has swept the rest of the nation. Rather than consider how their gun laws have failed to deter violent criminals, these states have sought to blame neighboring states for their persistent problems.

“None of us on the screen here are blind to the fact that our individual states’ gun laws are only as good as those in the rest of our neighborhood,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

It’s unclear whether this MOU will help law enforcement prevent crime, but that does not seem to be the primary motivation. Instead, proponents see this agreement as the first step in the nationalization of gun purchase data.

“If Congress would simply allow us to share this nationally, what a better place this would be,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

The White House applauded the agreement Thursday, saying it encourages “other state and local officials to follow these Governors’ lead and collaborate to reduce our shared challenge of gun violence,” according to The Hill.

Under current law, local and state law enforcement agencies can request that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives trace the original point of sale of a gun suspected of being used in a crime. Local and state officials can access the ATF’s database of these traces, but only for those within their state.

This MOU seeks to circumvent that restriction by sharing all trace data among the four states in the agreement.

    Pennsylvania is tired of democrats.
And then there were 3. Maybe 2 if the garbage state evicts Murphy

  • alex October 17, 2021, 8:30 pm

i was under the impression that all info collected when they do a back round check is supposed to be destroyed after three days, which i know they don’t but sharing your info with other state,is that even legal?? the only place with violent crime are the blue liberal states and cities, they run them like day cares and then wonder why everybody shits on them !!

  • Don October 16, 2021, 7:30 pm

What is the point. Residents of the 4 states are prohibited from buying a handgun in the neighboring states. Long guns are OK, but they don’t get used in crime very often. What data are they sharing? Non-existent handgun sales?

  • Griffendad October 15, 2021, 2:01 pm

They should put as much effort into tracking criminals, drugs, gangs and illegals across state lines.

  • John A. Maisano October 15, 2021, 12:59 pm

I left Connecticut 20 years ago for Texas and never looked back. Connecticut thinks they can just ask the criminals nicely to give up their guns for cash, sure they’ll just bring those guns right on down for $50. lol

The tax me state…..that’s all you’ve ever been successful at.

  • Bob W October 15, 2021, 10:22 am

I can’t believe how many people especially law abiding gun owners just don’t get it. They are not trying to take away my guns (and I have a lot of them) or your guns. They want to keep the criminals and crazy people from having guns. The gun lobby pretty much makes that impossible so the bad guys just keep on killing the good people and the NRA says that’s ok. It’s not ok.

    • Alan S October 15, 2021, 11:33 am

Are you naturally that ignorant or do you work at it?

    • Frank October 15, 2021, 12:00 pm

I could pen quite a lengthy discourse detailing how the oligarchy wishes to remove its largest obstacle… an armed populace. I really doubt however, that it would have much effect on such naivete as you display. For the moment, you’re free to exist in your own fantasy land, but the marxists have even that in their sights.

    • Boz October 15, 2021, 12:03 pm

Wow. The kooI-aid is string in this one.

    • Winston October 15, 2021, 12:18 pm

As shown by the FBI’s UCR and by US BoJ NCVS data, blacks drive homicidal violence in the US as they do in other western countries. You are anti-Bill of Rights and part of the mental and demoralized disease that is causing this country to disintegrate.

    • Dave October 15, 2021, 2:22 pm

Bob, I can’t believe how many people shill for the gun grabbers out of ignorance. They do want to take away your guns. There is no other reason for this. Bad guys will use cross bows, fire bombs, bows, swords, knives, etc. to carry out their evil. How about addressing how humans become murderous criminals? That’s the answer, not this stupid garbage. But Bob, you keep drinking the Kool Aid and shilling for the gov. criminals. We’ll continue to ignore your ignorance.

    • Airborne infantry October 15, 2021, 2:28 pm

From such an ignorant statement it’s clear you’re a two digit IQ friend, so let me point out some facts you seem to have overlooked. Numerous Congress people and senators have come right out and said they want to confiscate guns. Diane Feinstein, Hillary Clinton, even Joe Biden. I’m not sure how many more gun laws you want. They don’t enforce the ones they have. With new bail reform they let people out of jail the same day they have committed gun crimes. And you may not know it but murder, is already against the law. It’s a back door Way for gun registration and future confiscation. Just like what’s happened in California Hawaii, and New York

    • JSK October 15, 2021, 4:16 pm

Not difficult to see an obvious Everytown/Bloomberg hack when they chime in.

    • Ej harbet October 27, 2021, 4:44 pm

You’re a Bloomberg shill or a deluded fool. And you better hope we stay armed because guess what happens when you don’t have the ability to say no to tyranny with bullets. Chains if you’re lucky

  • Bill October 15, 2021, 10:14 am

What exactly does taking guns “off the street” really mean? Does it include those mentioned in the 2A? Who gave the government permission to restrict our protected inherent right of self-protection?

Passing the buck by blaming others for failed crime control measures accomplishes nothing. If the government cannot stop the flow of illegal drugs or illegal immigrants, it will never halt the illegal use of guns “off the street” short of total confiscation of registered firearms by law-abiding Americans. A free society can only be pushed so far by a tyrannical government. Let them be warned.

  • George October 15, 2021, 10:12 am

Its a lose, lose, situation for us, number 1 Bribden is allowing countless illegals, and importing hundreds of thousands of Haitian’s and others who will always vote for the demOrats, to keep them in power. number 2 they add immensely to the violent crime problem, that they then use as an excuse to confiscate our firearm’s, a perfect storm against us,

  • Dr Motown October 15, 2021, 9:05 am

There’s only 2 reasons why governments want to know what you own: either to tax it or confiscate it

  • Guido October 15, 2021, 8:38 am

As TC alluded to, nation-wide gun registry is one of the cornerstones in the tyrannical effort to disarm us.
That could easily be accomplished, at least to some degree, by “national concealed-carry reciprocity” legislation. Do you want your info shared with ‘tard demons such as these four?

BTW, wasn’t CT the state that passed an “assault weapon registration” bill a few years ago? The last I heard on their progress, the governor woefully admitted that only an estimated 3%-5% of the suspected “assault weapons” in his state had been voluntarily registered, and when pressed, he stated he “really didn’t know what to do from this point” as far as accomplishing the registration.
    Can you say, “election time?”

Also, although nobody asked, “no, I would NOT buy a used car from any of these weaselly-looking SOB’s”.

another invasion of privacy and is not constitutional!! Commie govs.

  • edward sperring October 15, 2021, 8:25 am

my comment is awaiting moderation what does that mean

  • edward sperring October 15, 2021, 8:24 am

what boggles the mind is these politicians are lawyers so i cant believe that they blatently dont care for truth go to any police station and look at their blotter and see how many career criminals are using guns in crimes and they want to put them on the street and yet go after the law abiding citizen who belongs to a club secures their firearms at home properly transports them back and forth to their club properly and enjoys the shooting sports. it dosent make sense yet we citizens keep electing them . sometimes i wonder who are the real problems .the politicians or the voters .

    • Joseph Ragland October 16, 2021, 12:37 am

Take notice. The illegals were welcomed with open arms. Floodgate opened. Thousands of Haitians under a bridge magically disappear and no msm is questioning it at all. Were they massacred by the evil horse riding bridle whippers? Did the mexican government snatch them up and incarcerate them somewhere?? No..hell no. They arent bringing it up or concerned because they know. They know they piled their asses in busses and planes and scattered them to the wind within our borders. And are dropping them off in swing states. States that have democrats in control, or controlling from behind to mostly block any voter id legislation laws that have been advancing in state legislatures. This is easy folks. And we are letting it happen. Talkin all tough but nobody..including myself, doing a damn thing about it. Sticking a posterboard on a tomato stake and walking around protesting in a circle downtown aint doin a damn thing. So either someone…a true leader step up, one that knows others will follow, get up and do something. Or we all need to volunteer to get in line at the guillotine. Sad days. Lord Jesus save us.

  • Gerald Brickwood October 15, 2021, 8:24 am

Too bad these guys don’t know existing law! If they did maybe they’d start pressing for active enforcement of existing federal law.

  • Stuart Alan Buncher October 15, 2021, 8:01 am

First of all unless you have a driver’s license from that State you can’t buy a gun in that State. Second when you buy a gun at a gun show or gun store the dealer calls the NICS SYSTEM for an instant yes or no on the sale. THE NATIONAL INSTANT CHECK SYSTEM IS RUN BY THE FBI WHO DO A BACKGROUND CHECK. All guns crossing the borders are illegal guns. NYC, NJ and Connecticut are three of the 8 States without legal carry. Little NJ has two ghetto cities in the FBI’s top ten cities with murders with illegal guns. Camden at #5 and Newark at #6. NJ also has the fourth largest amount of illegals at 750,000.

  • Falcon07 October 15, 2021, 7:58 am

I guess you can’t focus on CRIME. The woke Judges release everyone except Conservatives.
So now these Nazi scum come to control the masses.

  • Anthony Romano October 15, 2021, 7:15 am

Is this constitutional?? I think they’ll be plenty of court challenges to this!

  • john lallemand October 15, 2021, 6:34 am

wont happen in florida—florida has a smart governor—unlike you 4

  • Armorer1 October 15, 2021, 5:56 am

Law abiding gun owners account for less than 1% of crime ever. These Governors should focus on stopping criminals not law abiding citizens. Maybe if they focused on the 92% violet crime that doesn’t involve guns they could stem the tide of their states issues. A novel ides would be to make your communities sage fir your citizens!

Guns aren’t the problem, politicians are the problem. And especially democrats. Wolf is as bad as the other 3 but PA has a large, although uninformed, gun owner population, which slows him down.

Here they go again. These extreme far leftist politicians will stop at nothing to pass even more restrictive laws on firearms and firearm owners.

Isn’t new Jersey headquarters of the mafia? I wonder how many of these politiicians have mob figures for friends and campaign donations?

Isn’t New Jersey a island off the coast of north Korea run by power crazed politicians who want to enslave everyone?

New York and New Jersey have the most restrictive gun laws on the books. So why don’t these laws stop all crime? Maybe because the criminals don’t and could care less about the laws.

These states blame law abiding citizens for the crime, even Biden said all the crime is committed by white supremacists terrorists.
We know who is commiting the crime and murders it is certain minorities.

Maybe if these demoncrap run cities would stop listening to a bunch of loud mouth criminals, rioters, looters and arsonist and stopped trying to defund-abolish the police and let the police go out and arrest these trouble making criminals and put them away in prison for long sentences, then the crime would go down. It’s that simple.

A lot of these demoncrap run cities have a no bail required, so when criminals are arrested they are set loose to go back out on the streets to commit even more crimes.

There are over 25,000 gun laws on the books. The politiicians said the 1968 gun control act would stop all crime, did it? Of course not.
Then the politiicians said the 1994 Brady Bill would stop all crime. Did it? Of course not.

There are just some people out there who enjoy robbing, raping and murdering people, and no matter how many laws the leftist politicians pass they will ignore them and continue to commit crimes.

I read on a survival site that there are over 2 million laws on the books in the United States with something like 50 to 100 are added everyday. The article said a person can’t drive to work or go grocery shopping without breaking half a dozen laws. So that makes everyone a criminal, and that’s what the far leftist politicians want. So they can pass more laws to have more control over everyone.

The far leftist politicians want to ban all firearms, then all knives, then all archery equipment, so no one can resist them. There motto is “you will comply, we are your masters and know what’s best for you”.

AOC and the squad want to repeal the 2nd admendment. Actually they want to repeal the US Constitution and Bill of Rights and replace it with something out of Castro and Stalin handbook.

AOC and the squad want to replace the American flag too!

Why is it that back in the 1950’s one could walk into a hardware store, gun shop or mail order all kinds of firearms with no background checks and no waiting period and crime was much lower than today?

The administration has ordered the Border Patrol to release all illegals and to put them on busses and planes and send them off to major cities and the crime rate goes up, and so does the CV rate, along with measles, polo, small pox and tuberculosis.

These illegals coming here from Haiti claim they are excaping crime like robbers, rapist and murderers and they are come to America to rob, rape and murder Americans.

Many Americans have been evicted from their apartments and homes and the government is going to give these places to the illegals.

The administration is planning on bringing over a 100,000 Muslims from Afghanistan to America and is giving them homes, cars and jobs. And they hate American women who don’t dress like mummies and will beat them up and stone them.

Support and protect your right to keep and own all types of firearms and accessories. Don’t allow the far leftist politicians to restrict and ban firearms in America.

Most of these gun banning groups are run and funded by Micheal Bloomberg, George Soros, the Chinese government, the U.N., Russia and Mexico.

During WW2, Germany and Japan had plans to invade the east coast and the west coast, but were afraid of all those Americans who owned guns.

    Keep buying guns and ammo!

    • Bubba66 October 15, 2021, 7:32 am

You hit the nail on the head, these leftists are always blaming the gun, not the individual that fired the gun !! But, we don’t see them blaming the knife and fork or pots and pans, for making people FAT, or the pen and paper for people misspelling words, nooooo, that does not fit their narrative for taking over the government and having TOTAL CONTROL OVER THE AMERICAN CITIZENS !! IF YOU DON’T REALIZE WHAT’S GOING ON NOW, IT MAY BE TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING, BY THE TIME YOU REALIZE WHAT IS GOING ON !!

      • Joe V October 15, 2021, 8:50 am

We have one more voting cycle left. If it comes out that Marxism, Totalitarianism, Authoritarianism, Socialism, Communism come out as winners. It is only a matter of time of splitting up. Just hope they let us go freely unlike the Civil War. But I doubt it as they need people for their bs philosophy that does not work. And more unnecessary blood will be spilt. Hopefully no blood of patriots will be spilt. Most of us know how to shoot and fight, but we need to teach our other fellow patriots and stand strong together, not separate and in the shadows.

  • Swave n deBoner October 13, 2021, 11:59 am

This is a direct result of the foolish voters continually re-electing these Leftist morons! If you want to clean up our country & return us to what we were before the Covid virus conspiracy, STOP electing these anti American anti Constitutional dipshits & start putting real Americans with real American values including the love of our Constitution into positions of power.
You must all remember that lying, cheating & stealing IS the Democrat way!

    • Falcon07 October 15, 2021, 8:07 am

You’re exactly right. There is not ONE politician who didnt lie or cheat their way into office. They shouldnt even be called “representatives” as they certainly dont represent anything the people want.
This is a new era of Political rulers who follow the Globalist Narrative not the American Constitution!

  • JonsOn October 13, 2021, 11:30 am

These governors need to clean up their cities and stop real crime before they worry about law abiding citizens that own guns as they stop far more crime than the police. These are 4 of the lowest ranked governors with Phil Murphy being a total joke. They need to do the job they were elected to do before they worry about those who actually follow the law.

  • Benn October 13, 2021, 11:19 am

Guns aren’t the problem, people are the problem. The US government has no right to remove my ability to defend myself and my family from the stupid that is running amok in this great nation. All these common sense gun laws are just baby steps in the fight to remove my right to protect myself. We need less gun laws, not more. More accountability for violent crimes, capital punishment and harsher sentences will deter criminals more than taking my guns and making me a soft target. Criminals today have nothing to be afraid of. Even cops are now afraid to do their jobs because criminals are a protected class if people . Bring back public hangings

  • seppi October 13, 2021, 10:33 am

This is fucking BULLSHIT another backdoor to gun registration bucktooth murphy is the worst fucking governor in NJ history and NJ has had a shitload of shitty governors

  • T. Cashel October 13, 2021, 10:20 am

When will someone tell the Governors that while those States, like NY, NJ, CT. have the strictest gun control laws on the books that the vast majority of the guns used in crimes committed in those state are from outside those states. So the sharing of gun relating crime has a potential to track gun traffic is a good first step. To share that data to the region is a good idea that may prove once and for all, that the law abiding people of those states who possess firearms are not the problem.

So the governors who point out how their gun control laws are the best, most strictest have done nothing to stop gun violence in those states. That what was expressed prior to those strictest gun control laws were nothing more that political rhetoric and have done nothing to stop guns use in crimes. (SMOKE & MIRRORS)

So the real story is that the process is nothing more than talking point towards election or re-election in which the elected official are firmly in the belief that people will actually be impressed with those enacting laws, rules, EO, regulations that will do absolutely nothing to stop, slow down or change the direct of the state laws addressing gun safety (CONTROL)

Laws such as storage lockers, (safes), locks to prevent unauthorized individuals use of the firearm is a good idea. Some of those are too restrictive and go way beyond common sense.
Background checks are required in many situations as required under current US law. But that system (NIC) is only as good as the system is designed. Yes they do stop, some.

Our elected official whomever and wherever they be from need to be informed of those concepts and potential laws that would be effective. Except, if you are a conspiracy theorist, the real intent is total control. Just and opinion.

  • 44magman October 13, 2021, 10:01 am

Duh: if there are more guns on the street doesn’t that mean your Gun Safety Laws don’t work. So that means more gun safety laws won’t work either. The definition insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result.

  • paul I'll call you what I want/1st Amendment October 13, 2021, 4:52 am

These problem states need to clean up their own yards before forcing the neighbors to clean theirs!!!

  • Blue Dog (he/him) October 12, 2021, 5:19 pm

This is a great idea! We are always saying that before we write new laws, that we should better enforce existing laws and this is what that looks like, undertaken by individual states. States are the labs of democracy and if this idea works, I hope we see more memoranda of understanding like this across the nation.

    • TC October 15, 2021, 6:54 am

What are you talking about? This is clearly an attempt to open the door to nation-wide firearm registration. This is nothing more than a shill attempt at chiseling away our rights. Nice that you show us your pronouns, not that we care about your gender on a message forum…we clearly do not need your gender to convey a comment unless you’re trying to force yet another agenda.
