Full Conceal’s ‘Folding Glock’ M3D Pistol w/ 33 Round Capacity! – SHOT Show 2018

Authors Clay Martin Industry News SHOT Show 2018

Full Conceal rocked the concealed carry market with their folding Glock a few years ago.  It’s a polymer pistol that folds up to be no bigger than a cell phone!

Last year at SHOT 2017, Paul got a chance to see some of the prototypes that showed promise but we’re still not ready for prime time.  Walking away from that experience, there was a question about whether this fledgling company would ever bring its innovative design to market.

Well, we now know the answer. Full Conceal has perfected their folding-pocket-gun-concept in the “M3D Semi-Automatic Pistol.”  At SHOT 2018, I got a chance to see this out-of-the-box pistol in person.

Full Conceal's 'Folding Glock' M3D Pistol w/ 33 Round Capacity! - SHOT Show 2018

That’s the premise in a nutshell. Full-sized gun in a truly concealable package.

Essentially, the Full Conceal is a Glock cut at the top of the grip, and then hinged to fold. Part of the goal was to keep as many of the original Glock parts intact as possible.  Apart from the addition of the folding mechanism and a folding trigger safety that modifies the trigger shoe, most of the G19 remains unchanged, including the firing pin safety and drop safety.

The result is a folding Glock with a radically altered footprint.  As mentioned, it’s about the size of a cell phone. Not exactly your Grandpappy’s flip phone, but a phone nonetheless. You are still dealing with Glock thickness, after all.

Because the design fully covers the trigger, it is safe to carry with a round chambered and no holster, a big plus for those that prefer pocket carry. A simple pull snaps the gun back together, making it ready to get some as needed.  Standard capacity is a 21-round magazine.  But the M3D will also work with a 33-round magazine!  Crazy, right?  Check out the video for how it works.

This is a cool product, if for no other reason than the mechanical ingenuity involved. I can find no fault with the idea, or how it was executed. Is it for everyone? No, not by a long shot. It’s not for me either. But it is cool, and I wish them the best. If you haven’t seen one in action, it is worth stopping by your local dealer.

Pricing

The MSRP is $1,399.  A lot of you are going to complain about that price tag.  But bear in mind that this is a new company that is probably still looking to get into the black after years of development and research dollars spent.  I’ve also seen some listed on GunsAmerica for under $1,000.

The folding Glock is indeed a novelty. There are quite a few excellent IWB CC high cap(13 Rd 9mm) quality pistols out there. My iteration being the Sig P365 with 2 10 rd short mags and on 12 rd($40.00) extended mag for a full grip. The new Glock 43X just introduced has 12rd 9mm cap. This makes it equal to P365. I am not a Glock fan but my son is. Older tradition and younger innovation oriented generations have choices. We are at a tremendous renaissance of firearms manufacture and use in the USA. If history is correct, we will see a strong opposition to all these happenings but one things is for sure , we are very fortunate indeed to have this renaissance during our lifetime. Taking advantage of our capitalistic ideals is the smart thing to do. Long live American manufacturers and long live our hard won freedoms. Now, if we can persuade Mr. Musk to build his Tesla factories in the USA, instead of in China.

Concealment = comfort + purposely. In Florida We wear blue jeans / shorts & polo shirts most of the time, so I carry a Northamerican .22 magnum 5 shot black widow. No way that thing would fit into my right front pocket. If I need to provide more fire 🔥 power, I go to my 8 shot S&W .357 magnum or my 18 shot CZ 75 SP-01. The folder is a good idea for a backpack or BOB but not everyday carry IMHO.

  • Jacob February 8, 2018, 9:05 pm

I was sceptical until I actually handled the M3. It eliminates the L shape profile while pocketed, and deploys easily. The new trigger is most impressive. Definitely shoots much better than the factory trigger. I’m impressed.

  • wtsane February 8, 2018, 6:11 pm

I like it, as I like the retractable hard top and the pop out RV….from a distance. Most of Glocks appeal is rugged simplicity, this would appear to the the best thing I never knew I didn’t need.

  • Mike Watkins February 8, 2018, 3:00 pm

I think maybe the very best reason for this gun is that it is sure to make MANY liberals’ heads explode!

    Heheh…

  • William Walker February 8, 2018, 1:53 pm

I learned a long time ago that there is no perfect CCW for the way I dress, I dress around the perfect firearm for the situation. If I’m going to a location that may entice an active shooter, a cover shirt over a G19 with a 17+2 magazine cost quite a bit less than this. Not saying it’s not a cool toy for a guy that wants to pretend to be 007 but there are far more practical solutions to CCW that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

  • Raesp33 February 8, 2018, 1:26 pm

Love my M3D! Reading through the comments sounds like the people who are haters haven’t seen this gun in real life, shot it or own one. Shoots beautifully!

I’m able to conceal carry with max firepower. What more could you want? It folds into a rectangle shape almost the same as my
6S Plus Iphone. No matter where I choose to Conceal it fits! Holster in the regular shape or
if I don’t want to wear it I can put it in my backpack, purse or my pocket. Cant wait for the active assist holsters to come out. Anyone know when that date is?

It’s so sad to me that someone comes out with a cool idea and people want to knock it down so fast.

If someone really can delete messages someone should delete Trevor’s anger bomb of a text he makes himself sound like a lunatic. Haha Yoy loser 😁

  • J.B. McCarty February 8, 2018, 1:18 pm

I absolutely love mine. The footprint in my pocket is like a cellphone or a small notebook. The trigger is awesome. I have run several boxes through it and it runs flawlessly and because of the upgraded trigger I actually get better groups than my traditional Glock. If you want a full size handgun with high capacity that is concealable then this Gun checks those boxes.

  • ddavel544 February 8, 2018, 12:58 pm

I like my one piece guns. Just my preference. But I may get one just for laughs, when the price drops to around $300 due to poor sales, lol.

  • Jeff February 8, 2018, 12:55 pm

This is literally a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist… Glock already makes sub-compact pistols that are smaller than this monstrosity so what’s the point? Sure it’s cool but is the cost to be “cool” really worth it? And by “cost” I’m not just talking about the high dollar price tag, I’m also talking about the user having to add extra deployment time to deploy the pistol, as well as how effectively they will be able to deploy it in a high stress environment when they start to lose their fine motor skills… It’s certainly a cool toy for the range and something to spark up a conversation but nothing more.

    • Jack February 8, 2018, 3:11 pm

The point just flew right over your head.

Either that or you have some way to load 19 rounds into a subcompact, and have Glock 19-level muzzle flip and sight radius.

There are a lot of reasons not to buy this, but the fact that Glock makes smaller and less capable guns with lower capacity is not one of them.

      • Jeff February 10, 2018, 3:52 am

LOL, if you say so dude.

  • FirstStateMark February 8, 2018, 12:40 pm

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Clay. Like your videos!

  • Rob February 8, 2018, 12:40 pm

I love my Full Conceal M3D! Can’t wait to get my hands on the M3S in May! Keep up the good work guys!

  • Don Cody February 8, 2018, 12:40 pm

Great pistol! Better trigger than my standard Glock 19. Already put couple hundred rounds through it and like it more each time I shoot it! The engineering is top notch and tbe whole idea is extremely innovative! About time for some truly original ideas!

  • Johne February 8, 2018, 12:37 pm

Very interesting design. It is always refreshing to see something original. It looks like the folding mechanism is pretty natural and can be done in a single motion while getting it out. Its a shame they used a Glock as they are just so ugly. The price is what is out of line. The folding grip costs as much as the original gun. If it works flawlessly I think the price will kill it.

  • Thomas Tuefelhunden February 8, 2018, 12:34 pm

I’ve had mine for 2 months. I shoot it ALOT. I’ve had no issues or problems except everyone at the range wants to shoot it or look it over

  • Rotaman February 8, 2018, 12:31 pm

Well, I think it’s pretty cool and innovative. Cudos to the inventor for making an idea reality and getting it to market. Those who want one can buy it, and those who don’t can pass. And the world will keep spinning.

  • August Bender February 8, 2018, 12:19 pm

The second sentence of this review, ” It’s a polymer pistol that folds up to be no bigger than a cell phone!” simply isn’t true. The dimensions given in the text and the photo of the folded gun are 6.25″ x 3.25″ x 1.18″. The photo of the folded gun compared to an iPhone shows that the gun is larger. I measured my wife’s Samsung smartphone and it’s 6″ x 3″ x 0.25″. The most substantial difference in in the thickness: the gun is more than four times thicker than the phone. My LG flip-phone is only 3.75″ x 1.875″ x 0.69″. There are a whole host of non-folding semi-auto pistols that are smaller than the 6.25 x 3.25 x 1.18″ envelope. The gun maker is trying to make the gun easier to conceal, but saying that, “Full Conceal has perfected their folding-pocket-gun-concept in the “M3D Semi-Automatic Pistol” is something of an over statement. It doesn’t look easier to conceal to me. Certainly you could fit this folded pistol in a large trouser pocket or jacket pocket, but it’s still going to make a bulge compared to the comparatively thin iPhone or other smart phone. The design is certainly clever, but ultimately I don’t think it’s very useful.

  • Mike February 8, 2018, 12:18 pm

LOL, a lot of you guys just don’t get it. First of all the shape makes all the difference in the world as this gun only “prints” a square. ANY other pistol “prints” the grip, therefor a gun. Second of all this shape makes 33 rounds possible due to the afore mentioned shape. Your concealed weapon is rarely accessible for quick-draw so if that extra second it takes to unfold it bothers you then I believe it’s time for you get out of your head and into the real world.

  • Dj February 8, 2018, 11:57 am

I mean Really, What a Really Stupid Weapon! I’ll keep my Sig 1911 45, W/ my Sig P938 9mm Back-up, And Out Draw this Glock, Any Day of the Week! Not to Mention both my Sig’s cost less then this really Stupid Firearm! Not my idea of a good carry Weapon, Sorry

  • Steve jones February 8, 2018, 11:02 am

Love mine! First- go shoot it before making a comment. Better than a factory trigger. Yes, I keep mine chambered in my pants pocket 21 or 33 rounds. You can always keep as an L-shape but this Full Conceal gives you options. Yes, it’s not a brick in your pocket. The profile is a rectangle. Shoot it, see it, learn to draw from your pants. Also, I’m ordering my Full Conceal holster next week. Before you troll- shoot it.

    • Maine February 8, 2018, 1:02 pm

Why not just get a model G30 with a G21 mag? Half the price and even smaller.

  • John Kable February 8, 2018, 10:29 am

“Old habits die hard”, Hmmmm…. This design appears to require a particularly pristine/clean place of concealment. Seeing as how even the most well made holster will acquire bits of debris of varying size from time to time I can only imagine the potential problems lurking inside the average pocket, purse, or carry bag. Which ever handed we humans are is the side we are most likely to stuff keys, coins, yesterdays B.P. receipt, a small pocket knife, loose candy wrappers, eyeliner, lipstick threads/ lint balls, etc into that same space along with the folded Glock .Unfortunatley our species ARE creatures of habit and any of those said items lodged in the hinge point/ mag well area of this firearm would most likely transform a self defense senario into a most dismal outcome. On the other hand I suppose if one were to train regularly and anticipate such a potential problem they could employ this design as a “Leatherman type Multi-tool”, grasping an adversaries nose, ears and or nuts applying an aggressive as possible twist and squeeze while reciting “Why you I oughta” (ala Three Stooges) untl threat is resolved….

    • Peter S February 8, 2018, 12:24 pm

I bought the Full Conceal folding M3D a few months ago- Love mine. Stop assuming that it takes time to deploy- The hey bad guy wait is a stupid comment. Quick to draw, LOVE the trigger- My only complaint is that when I take it shooting, everyone wants to shoot it, talk about it, and ask me questions. Everyone I allow to shoot it loves the trigger, and ends up buying one.

Until you shoot it… and really understand how awesome this pistol is, please don’t make a negative comment. Trolls comments are just ignorant.

  • Michael Keim February 8, 2018, 10:11 am

Will the bad guy wait to attack until you take it out and unfold it?

    • Brian February 8, 2018, 12:02 pm

He unfolded in less than a second. I would say it was quicker than charging the weapon. I really see the value. Great for a front pocket when a holster might not be an option or a side pocket of a go bag. I appreciate the single stack size.

  • Larry February 8, 2018, 10:09 am

Way to go Oaf! It seems like there are a lot of folks out there waiting to put down any new idea. Or give their expert opinion without trying a new idea. If you don’t like something don’t buy it. But the readers here don’t necessarily need to hear your expert advice on everything.

  • Daryl T February 8, 2018, 10:00 am

It’s a choice! life or death? Can you see a police officer caring this firearm???

  • Steve February 8, 2018, 9:24 am

Adds nothing but another possible failure point to the gun. Small as a cell phone? uh no. Small as a brick is a better description.

  • Chris Smith February 8, 2018, 9:20 am

Honestly, not trying to be negative, but what is the point? It takes up the same amount of space, just in a different shape. Not to mention it costs more than twice as much as the actual pistol. It’s a silly novelty I can’t see any serious shooter buying. And I hate to admit, I agree it looks really stupid. I mean, REALLY stupid.

    • Jerry Post February 8, 2018, 10:59 am

I agree I carry my 5 shot revolver in my pocket can’t see why you would that much fire power unless you are that bad of a shot

      • Robert February 9, 2018, 10:30 am

The maker actually gave you the scenario where it would be useful. Do you people actually watch the video or are you too busy formulating your preconceived responses? And yes, a 5 shot revolver is probably better than a pocket knife or a slingshot but seriously, I don’t think anybody with a reasonable expectation of being involved in a firefight would have one except as a last-ditch backup gun.

  • Dennis February 8, 2018, 8:54 am

I like it it’s different, it could be something that takes off, but the price is a little high in my opinion, plus you can look at it this way, if it doesn’t take off and it’s a bust, one day it will be a collector item and will be worth some money one day.

  • Oaf February 8, 2018, 8:47 am

I see the whiners are out in full force today. Must be a pretty miserable life if all you live for is to bitch and complain.

    • Jim February 8, 2018, 10:21 am

      I know, right?

    • buhbang February 8, 2018, 10:58 am

at least the “whiners” are on topic. while your whining has nothing to do with this article. you don’t have anything better to do? did you only come here to ignore the topic and complain about the complainers?
      thanks for contributing absolutely nothing.
I wouldn’t buy one of these, not because of the price, but because it’s a glock. … i don’t like glocks. nothing against them, i just don’t like too many things about them and couldn’t buy one. their history, their horrible triggers, sights, barrels and a safety so bad the term glock leg was created for all the glocksters shooting themselves in the leg while drawing, I love those youtube videos, and theres tons of them on there.

    • Steve Jones February 8, 2018, 12:45 pm

Trolls- Get out of your moms basement!

  • Dave Matthews February 8, 2018, 7:47 am

I think it would be much more concealable if you did it with their new single stack 9mm. Not sure if you’ll ever need 33 rounds for CC, and comparing to an iPhone is ridiculous, more like a 2×4 cut to 6″ long

    • ontheright February 8, 2018, 8:20 am

You’ll only need 33 rounds when you don’t have them.

      • OFBG February 10, 2018, 9:54 pm

I get your point, but your statement is asinine.

    • Mike McIntyre December 18, 2020, 12:07 pm

can’t see 33 rounds for CC?…REMEMBER, RULE # 1, ALWAYS BRING MORE AMMUNITION THAN YOU THINK YOU WILL EVER NEED.
I DON’T SEE WHAT THE CONCEALMENT PROBLEM IS. A SMALL BULGE NEVER HURT ANYTHING.

  • Moe February 8, 2018, 7:42 am

I don’t know about this, looks very interesting. However are still talking about having to carry it concealed and your adding an additional step to bring it into the fight. As a LEO I could see a use for it as a secondary weapon tucked into a vest pocket, but then again at that price tag maybe not.

    • Johnny Raygun February 8, 2018, 8:08 am

My thought exactly. It is not fight ready. Nice for the backpack, backup, but not a “go to” first responder

    • ontheright February 8, 2018, 8:22 am

The weight would be prohibitive as a BUP.

  • Rod February 8, 2018, 7:34 am

French had a folding subgun YEARS ago…not so innovative and new idea,is this?

    • ontheright February 8, 2018, 8:25 am

How many “folding sub-guns” can be carried concealed, on your person? So yes, it is innovatve, but needs more work.

  • Mike February 8, 2018, 6:57 am

Wow, that looks… Pretty stupid. Take a pistol that is concealable, fold it in half so you can’t use it right away, and not make it any more concealable than it was. Why not call it a TrumpGun?

    • Jerry Jones February 8, 2018, 7:28 am

Yeah right Mike…..as opposed to the Obama Guns….that aren’t available for “Civilian possession”

      • Mike February 9, 2018, 6:01 am

Did the sky fall on Chicken Little’s head yet, or was that 8 years a big goose egg for everyone except the industry? Or don’t you remember magazines going for even $50 each, etc? Quit drinking the NRA Kool-Aid, the more we argue, the more they get paid.

        • OFBG February 10, 2018, 9:20 pm

And what, precisely, is the “NRA Kool-Aid?”

    • Bryan February 8, 2018, 8:18 am

Why are you even here libby?

      • Mike February 9, 2018, 6:04 am

Just to frustrate you into calling names like you’re on the schoolyard with Trump. Oh, look! It’s working! Sorry to be a gun owner, veteran, AND think for myself, and even more sorry you think I’m somehow disqualified from any of that for disagreeing with you in any way.

    • ontheright February 8, 2018, 8:25 am

At least Trump doesn’t want/try to ban guns…like his predecessor tried to do many times, in many ways.

      • gary sheldon February 8, 2018, 9:19 am

The previous Emperor and those of the socio-commie side of America will continue to work to ban firearms. How did Stalin and Hitler manage their terror? They managed to ban ’em. That’s what turbin, lee, watters, cummins, finestein, pelousey, the flake, et.al. of this ilk want,………………..CONTROL and unlimited power and responsibly armed citizens will prevent that. They hate Amen(dment) # 2. We have good leadership with the Trump team and a glimmer of hope for the REPUBLIC with God’s help and as HE wills.

        • ontheright February 8, 2018, 10:33 am

          Amen!

      • Mike February 9, 2018, 6:07 am

‘Many times, in many ways’ = obfuscation to cover for the fact that people ran around screaming THE SKY IS FALLING and nothing substantial actually happened. SUBSTANTIAL. That’s why you use facetious phrases like ‘many times, in many ways’, so you can bundle up a bunch of relative nothing into The Great Threat. Again, quit drinking the NRA Kool-Aid, they’re LOBBYISTS that get paid more because we keep arguing. THEY are the swamp.

        • Robert February 9, 2018, 10:36 am

Mike, thank you for your service, even though you obviously didn’t know what you were fighting for. Nazi soldiers were veterans too.

        • OFBG February 10, 2018, 9:26 pm

Your comments sound a lot like those of the – while I dislike the term – “libtards” who denigrate Fox News but who have never actually viewed FNC, or if they have, only occasionally listened to O’Reilly or Hannity.

  • Cyrus February 8, 2018, 6:55 am

May I have the privilege of being the first to say that this is STUPID!

    • Mike February 8, 2018, 7:13 am

Yes, because you beat me to it 🙂

  • Jay February 8, 2018, 6:04 am

I truly enjoy this type of thinking outside the box! I can only assume because they are selling the complete firearm, that it was not just a frame modification to bring this to market. It would really be something if we could just buy the frame for our already existing Glock because this will more than likely not be for everyone especially at the $1399 price tag! It will be interesting to see if it takes off, good luck to them!

  • Trevor February 8, 2018, 4:06 am

So my comments DELETED RIGHT AWAY… Guess your like ALL forums and if OUR OPINION doesn’t EXACTLY MAYCH YOURS THEN YOU BAN US making it sound like ALL PEOPE AGREE WITH YOOOOOUURRRRRRRRR way of thinking! Talk about TOTAL COWARS BITCH ASS PUSSY SHIT BY THE SAME KIND OF PISSY ASS BITCH that ONLY dies this AGIT for the FREE SHIT you CANT FUCKING AFFIRS YOURSELF YOY LOSER!

    • Deerslayer February 8, 2018, 7:20 am

Even your insults do nothing but insult yourself. I recommend you do a bit of proof reading before you click post. Maybe spell check a few things. Or better yet keep you opinion to yourself.

    • John February 8, 2018, 9:12 am

      Wow! You’re silly mad!
Almost as silly as this gun. Ha ha

    • KurtW February 8, 2018, 9:53 am

Would that be the comment posted immediately below? Perhaps you’re unaware that there’s a lag-time from clicking “Submit” to being posted.

    • Billj357 February 8, 2018, 11:00 am

Trevor, You need to learn some patience (a whole 6 minutes before your anal tirade?). You need to learn to spell. You are the type that give Gun Owners a bad ‘rep’.

      • Mike Watkins February 8, 2018, 3:04 pm

Trevor is obviously someone with too much of a hair trigger temper to EVER be allowed to own, let alone carry, a firearm.

    • Jay February 9, 2018, 7:43 am

YOY, Trevor, Why would you or anyone else think you were singled out for exception? You need to get a grip on your anger. Anger is a dangerous emotion that can be a hazard to yourself and others. I sure hope you don;t get stuck in a traffic jam with the lack of control you have shown! I’ve had comments take a day to show up, these servers have time delays this isn’t yahoo thank the Lord! I’m actually surprised your anger rank was posted, so how in the world can you feel singled out!

    • Larry February 9, 2018, 7:12 pm

Holy cow man – did you just have an apoplexy?

  • Trevor February 8, 2018, 4:00 am

I myself like the traditional GLOCKS but I can see a legit use for people who don’t like wearing there gun on there belt and this basically being a pocket gun would be very very easy to conceal. The one handed draw from closed is a huge plus and when the price goes down in a few years I might pick one up depending on how they hold up over the next few years of actual use by customers. Wish them well as it’s a smart design having the mag index itself no matter where it is on the grip/clamping device which makes this a legit tool to have. It you had to unfold it and then load and mag and then rack one in the tube then it’d be a novelty gun at best but so be they covered all those issues I can see this becoming a practical carry gun. Good lock to the company!
