Gemtech MIST-22 Integrally Suppressed 10/22 Barrels – SHOT Show 2018

Authors Clay Martin Industry News SHOT Show 2018

A suppressed .22 LR pistol is fun, but ultimately a .22 LR rifle is more useful. If you have the spare coins, Gemtech’s MIST-22 Integrally Suppressed 10/22 barrel blows the doors off a normal-sized suppressor.

With suppressors, in general, for actual decibel reduction, bigger is always better. The downside of going big is that no one wants a 12-inch suppressor hanging off their gun. The MIST solves this problem like a boss.

Impression

Since your rifle barrel must be 16 inches anyway, unless you are spending SBR tax stamp money on a .22, Gemtech made this all one piece. Total length when assembled is 17 inches.

This is not a new release, it is a product we have actually reviewed in depth multiple times. But it is still a winner and one that I believe you should check out if you haven’t already.

Gemtech MIST-22 Integrally Suppressed 10/22 Barrels - SHOT Show 2018

The MIST-22 retails for $599.

An integrally suppressed 22 barrel is some of the best money you can spend, especially if you are coming into the suppressor market. Side-by-side with a regular thread-on suppressor, you can hear the difference right away.  It’s night and day.

As long as you have a bull barrel stock, you don’t need anything else. Out of the box, this is ready to go.  To see me install a MIST-22, check out this article: Turn Your Ruger 10/22 from Plain Jane to Full Gangster

I got mine before the NFA regulations. It is very quiet and accurate. It still has a 10″ barrel much like a target pistol. 50 yards is plenlty far enough for my .22 needs. I put it in an Archangel stock with a red dot and it is very discreet.

The 200 dollar tax has remained the same since 1932 ! The difference between MEN and boys is the PRICE OF THEIR TOYS !
If you can’t afford one YOU DON’T NEED ONE ! ATF WAIT should be no more that 2 months at most from start to finish including mail time ! If you are afraid to be photographed and finger printed YOU DON’T NEED ONE !

10/22 SBX Barrel with a sparrow that can be used on other guns ! The Gemtech MIST-22 is GREAT if you can afford a dedicated suppressor ! The bolt slam is the only noise heard ! Use a nylon buffer to replace the steel pin ! Hogue rubber molded stock makes the gun quieter also !

I have looked at these. Very nice. Want one. However, for $425 (what they sell locally for) plus a $200 stamp, I’ll pass. Ridiculous. I have NFA stuff, but the prices for them need to adjust. The feds need to open up suppressors , like a NICS check, 4473 and out the door you go, with it. Lower it to $75 for the stamp. It would create healthy competition and lower prices. Further, let you make your own, and register it, like you can with an SBR, etc.

If you don’t think NFA itself is a problem you’re wrong. If shf they’ll knock (kick in) NFA stamp doors first. Cool barrel though. Stay off of the books people! Just say’n.

40 db sound reduction if much better than any wearable hearing protection I’m aware of. 33 db is usually the highest reduction found. Given that, I’ll bet this is one quiet barrel/suppressor.

$600? I paid $190 for my 10/22. Besides, what they’re Not talking about is the potential loss in accuracy & velocity because of the drastically shortened barrel section. For me, where a suppressor is invaluable is for high-power rifles, or even shotguns.

I’ve been using a Silencerco Sparrow on the end of my Bull-barrel 10/22 for several years and the sheer joy of shwacking armadillos and coons with 60gr. subsonics has been worth every penny of the admission price…to each his own I guess

Come on, let’s not call it ‘turn it into full gangster.’ It has nothing to do with that. And it just gives ammo, ironically, to those that don’t support firearms. I like the product though. I’d like to save my ears!

While the ridiculous ATF wait is discouraging, when it finally made it home, the idea of running high velocity .22 ammo quietly was worth the wait. The hyper velocity still makes a good crack, but aside from that , it’s a backyard pest eliminator even in the neighborhood, and no one is the wiser… Hope our new administration make the ATF guidelines more efficient by allowing permit holders to swipe their cards, and avoid the outdated ppwork, and the ATF wait. We’re already approved.. WTH

I see new cans advertised every day but until the rinos pass the hearing protection act who cares.
