Geissele Automatics, a leader in fighting rifles, components and accessories, has identified a void in the current world of tactical rifles. As many rifle manufacturers, including Geissele, adopt free-floating rails, low-profile gas blocks and exotic muzzle devices, they’ve given up the ability to fix bayonets. That changes with the new SSBM, or Super Stabby Bayonet Mount.
“The Super Stabby Bayonet Mount (SSBM) allows Picatinny integration of stabby accessories to your handguard,” explains Geissele. “Made from 7075-T6 aluminum it is both extremely rigid and lightweight.
“The SSBM is optimized for the M9 Bayonet and is compatible with bayonets that interface with the M16 Mil-SPEC bayonet lugs and front barrel or muzzle rings. It only requires 5 Picatinny sections to be mounted.”
The bayonet mount comes with a pretty broad disclaimer. Geissele has only tested the SSBM with their rifles and rails. Other guns and components may not be built to the same standards, which might compromise the system.
The idea is nothing new. Bayonet adapters have been in use for well over a century with militaries around the world. They allow users to keep using bayonets already in inventory with newer arms.
It is a little — or a lot — anachronistic, but even with the widespread adoption of sidearms, nothing has ever truly replaced the bayonet. Whether it’s for serious use or just a bit of fun, this greatly expands the ability for modern rifle users to retain the time-tested bayonet.
The SSBM isn’t heavy but it’s not featherweight at 5.7 ounces. It uses a Picatinny mounting system for maximum compatibility with rails, handguards, forends and all sorts of other possibilities.
The sheer number of ways to use a Picatinny bayonet adapter are so great that it’s no wonder that Geissele won’t guarantee the SSBM on anything other than their own products.

And even though it’s fairly tough, with a body constructed of 7075-T6 alloy aluminum, it might not work with some muzzle devices and combos, which could damage the mount or gun or both.
Geissele is quick to remind users to always employ proper safety standards and equipment when setting up and using firearms with fixed bayonets. The SSBM requires 5 Picatinny rail slots for installation and is compatible with M9 and similar bayonets.
Pricing starts at $150 for the mounts with a black anodized finish and goes up to $165 for olive drab and desert dirt colors.

Seriously, before demorats began behaving as petulant, spoiled teenagers I might not have given this new addition much thought. Look back at what they’ve done to Our Country, all with the lust to maintain power and money. Tell with a straight face that we’re not in a life and death struggle to defeat communist ideology.

What about the fact you’d have to use a location rail that mounts it?! Then it has to be as you can see a rail that is max two inches shorter than the barrel which almost nobody owns as most all guns are carbine length hand guards with a 16″ barrel which obviously format work since the barrel is to long or you could just mount one on the A2 front sight lug and mount the ring of the bayonet on the flash hider like it’s supposed to be mounted. Fail! Brownells sells a way better mount that attaches tongue barrel for $40 and actually would work for just about any application except one like pictures and then you can spend the crazy high price of $150 plus shipping to get one IF you still use the old ass technology of picatinny which nobody does it their smart as MLOK and even keymod is way better for mounting accessories! Fail!
The more junk accessories the better, hey ? I am not at all a fan and have been in many firefights and far more proficient at every level than most alive today.
Most of you would be far better off to lose some weight, maybe a lot, get fit and strong and get off the damn couch and train to gain the correct mindset of a warrior monk ! Yeh I said it correctly a warrior monk , not just a warrior ! And let there be no doubt all the junk out there will NOT make you effective or any kind of warrior, EVER !
Just one small example, do you suppose that flashlight on your firearm is actually a very bright and specific target for your opponent to easily hone in on ? DUH. And how many home invasions and CQ events do you plan on carrying out where you would need a flashlight attache to a weapon ? Again a big DUH ?
Just saying THINK instead of react and actually train instead of talk junk !

I have to agree with most of your observations. Unfortunately, one can’t buy their way to competence in shooting skills or personal protection skills. Shooting and personal defensive skills are perishable and need to be continually refined, refreshed, and updated. Just purchasing the “next great thing” to hang on your already overweight rifle doesn’t guarantee success in anything (except possibly depleting your funds). My experience in the Marine Corps made me very aware if the ild saying, “Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain.”. If one’s “hump” with your defensive rifle is a few yards from the trunk of your car to the firing line, weight means nothing. But humping miles carrying a rifle, 10 – 20 spare loaded mags, a bayonet, water, an IFAK, and maybe an MRE, your body armor, helmet, and boots make’s you appreciate just how difficult it is to be “mobile” and quick when facing an enemy. Too many people I’ve seen with these “space guns” will have a tough time if the SHTF.
