Gun-Free Zone Allows Stalker to Kill Woman’s Husband Right in Front of Her

Authors Industry News S.H. Blannelberry This Week

“If the bad guy is the only one with a gun, guess who wins?” says Nikki Goeser during her appearance last month on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Ms. Goeser, who was discussing her new book, “Stalked And Defenseless: How Gun Control Helped My Stalker Murder My Husband in Front of Me,” was emphasizing the self-evident flaw with gun-free zones.

That is, they only disarm the law-abiding.  Bad guys do not give a rip about a sign that reads, “No guns allowed.”  In fact, in many instances, gun-free zones are a beacon to criminals because they know the people inside are sitting ducks. (Since 1950, 94 percent of mass public shootings occurred inside a gun-free zone, according to the Crime Prevention Research Center.)

As you may have guessed by the title of her book, Ms. Goeser knows firsthand that gun-free zones are murder magnets.  The poor woman watched as her own husband was gunned down by a stalker.

Ms. Goeser, who is a licensed concealed carrier, had left her pistol in the car because of a Tennessee law that banned firearms in certain places, including the restaurant where she and her husband were patronizing that fateful day.

“I will probably wonder for the rest of my life if I could have prevented that, of course, I’ll never know because I was denied a chance,” “ she tells Tucker.  “I was stalked and defenseless.”

Another interesting point Ms. Goeser raises in the interview is that the perp was not charged with any of the gun-control laws he broke in the process of murdering her husband.

“We hear Democrats talk about ‘We want more and more gun control laws,’ but when it comes right down to it, take for instance the prosecutor for my husband’s murder case, he did not charge the murderer for any of the gun control violations,” she explained.

“He was not charged with carrying a handgun without a permit, he was not charged with carrying a gun illegally into a gun-free zone, those charges could have been put out there and he could have got more prison time,” she added.

Supposing that is true not just for this case but for other murderers as well then one must see gun-free zones as being doubly ineffective.  They fail to work proactively as they do not stop armed killers.  And, they fail to work retroactively as those who exploit gun-free zones to take innocent lives do not face additional charges for violating the law.

Disarming good people does not make bad people harmless.  While this is common knowledge for gun owners, much of the rest of the public still needs to come to this realization.  We wish Ms. Goeser the best as she works to open more hearts and minds to our collective cause.

No one knows if I carry or not, it’s concealed. If I am in a gun free zone I am happy they didn’t charge me for it. They have never charged me a fee when I bring mine, oh I guess they can’t see it because its concealed.

  • James M Dennis-Langham October 30, 2020, 7:16 am

I won’t do business with any business that has a no gun policy. Let some other poor citizen follow their sign. Hopefully they won’t exit in a bodybag.

You aren’t the only one. I am not going to die because some restaurant owner or business owner doesn’t get it.

  • SteveO March 20, 2020, 11:24 am

So sorry about your great lost. Your mistake was following the law! Laws are not made for the law abiding citizens. I carry my weapon everywhere even if it says gun free zone. The criminal doesn’t give a dam if it is gun-free zone. Why should you

Can we please call this like it is and change the headline of this article from kill to murder?
Killing is what the military and law enforcement does to protect America, and American’s from evil. Killing is what the armed citizen did in White Settlement to prevent a massacre. This was a murder plain and simple and calling it a killing demeans and diminishes all of us who have had to take life in order to preserve others lives.
Words matter. I don’t understand why people will use killing and murder interchangeably, when they’re two different things, but we all better know the difference between a magazine and a clip.

    • Alan Robinson January 9, 2020, 9:21 am

I point that out to people all the time in reference to the Bible, as in the Commandments. I mostly get blank stares.
And to your point of NOT understanding the incorrect usage, it’s all part of the indoctrination of America.

      • Daniel G. Braatz January 23, 2020, 7:34 pm

Yes! My 6th commandment says, “Thou shalt not murder.” Big difference.

  • Michael J January 3, 2020, 6:11 pm

Those people who restrict citizens from defending themselves against preditors are as guilty as the perpetrators. When are we going to stop messing around with these inept officials who continually punch holes in our Constitution and fail to protect their constituents. It appears that their gun laws only apply to the law abiding.

  • Mr. Sparkles January 3, 2020, 3:23 pm

Enforcement of “Gun-Free Zone” signage is only for law abiding citizens. After all, I am sure that this stalker had a tough childhood that is, by liberal mandate, the victims fault.

  • Ken January 3, 2020, 1:51 pm

If you pay attention to those “No Guns Allowed” signs you are a law abiding fool.

If your firearm is properly concealed no one is any wiser.

I usually ask to speak to the owner or manager of any such establishment and advice them that if they are denying me the right to self protect… then they are liable for their failure to protect me.

In several instances the signs have gone down.

We need to start suing establishments with “No Guns Allowed” signs if we suffer from obeying their signs… then we’ll see how fast those signs start to come down.

Meanwhile… are you going to get injured cause some idiot posted a sign? If so… so sort of have it coming.

I don’t blame the right or the left for much of anything as they are all bad. My latest quest is why are our Government Offices Gun Free Zone, same goes for the Cop Shop, USPS, and of course Schools. Come On Right Do Something about this, and y u r at it lets get National Carry Passed. Do u see my point, they are all bad for US. Free Your Mind, Be Party Blind.

As a “law-abiding citizen,” and former municipal government employee of +/- 30 years (a bureaucrat), I NEVER once went to work, or especially to a board/council/commission meeting without at least 1 (usually 2) concealed firearms on me. I also rarely left the house (for work) without something akin to an AR or AK variant locked up securely (with an additional 120-rounds) in my personal vehicle in case it was ever needed. Thank God it never was needed.

For an entire +/- 30-year career, not a single person other than me was even remotely aware of either fact.

As far as I’m concerned, I went through the B.S. to get my CCW, therefore, I would be the person who determined when and where I might need to protect myself or others, not some bureaucrat.

I (used to) train often and have been shooting any and everything I could get my hands on since I was about 8 years old. My father made it his priority to take all of us (3 boys & I girl) hunting on a regular basis just as soon as we could prove ourselves physically capable.

It’s only common sense that every individual is responsibile for the protection of themselves and their loved ones. Regardless of someone’s size, sex, or whatever else may float their boat. It’s certainly not something that is “granted” or “allowed” by any government (regardless of what libtards may believe).

So, do what YOU believe provides you with the best opportunity to protect yourself and your loved ones, regardless of any unconstitutional laws claiming otherwise.

Do you honestly believe that even a single off-duty police officer actually disarms themselves because of some ignorant “gun-free-zone” sign? Not a chance in hell.

Remember the “tried by six versus being carried by six” analogy. The decision to protect yourself is really that simple.

Gun Free zones are more or less a target range for criminals.

If a “No guns allowed” is posted, they dont want my business

“Ms. Goeser, who is a licensed concealed carrier, had left her pistol in the car because of a Tennessee law that banned firearms in certain places, including the restaurant where she and her husband were patronizing that fateful day.”

Had she decided to carry in the restaurant, ignoring the above Tennessee Law and killed the perp thereby giving both of them a second chance at life, the police and DA would have charged her with her breaking the above law and MAYBE done jail time. Of course, her husband would still be alive but i can tell you from experience, it is much easier to charge and convict a person with no priors than the pos that killed her husband.

    • J Atwood January 3, 2020, 11:22 am

I’ve always said, it’s better to be alive to stand trial than to be dead.
Considering the restaurant staff wouldn’t have known she was carrying until she used the gun, it’s worth taking if you know a dangerous person is stalking you.

    • Roy January 3, 2020, 4:36 pm

She stated that the POS was not charged with any gun violations while he committed murder, then why should she be charged for defending her husband and herself?

  • Ejharbet January 3, 2020, 8:38 am

Worse yet I heard her say on the radio that the pos who killed her soul mate will be RELEASED soon.I sincerely hope he finds death and true judgment before he encounters her. She could kill him but she doesn’t need more scars.
Maybe he’ll meet one of us,,,,

If you would tolerate a “gun-free” zone, you would tolerate a “Speech Free” zone, a “worship free” zone, an “association free zone”. You would tolerate the housing of troops in your homes, the violation of your privacy, etc., etc., Why is the 2nd Amendment treated so differently that all the rest? Because WE THE PEOPLE have allowed mentally ill COMMUNISTS, DOMESTIC ENEMIES to infiltrate all aspects of our society and government, while sitting on our collective asses and doing nothing. You have been give a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, but the way it looks to me, I doubt you will keep it.

  • johnnyraygun January 3, 2020, 8:06 am

Banning firearms to stop violence, is like taking Aspirin for a migraine. It does not work. The firearm is just the tool, the hate/anger/violence, inside the person, is the issue. A frontal lobotomy, on the offending perp is the best cure

  • Jesse Scott January 3, 2020, 7:20 am

Unless there is a metal detector, I conceal carry. I don’t care what the sign says…just like the bad guy.

    • BluNos January 3, 2020, 4:50 pm

BINGO! Folks we have a winner! I’ve been undergoing chemo for stomach cancer, and the clinic I receive my treatment has a sign on the door “No Guns or Knives Allowed”. Like the saying goes: The only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun.

    • Michael Gothard January 4, 2020, 11:23 am

Same here Jesse. Most of the signs at businesses are put up by the business and it is not illegal to carry, it is only against store policy. I’ve been carrying 50 years and I’m not about to stop now.

  • Roy January 3, 2020, 6:01 am

I have a ccw and carry concealed into gun free zones just for the reasons above. If questioned my defense is civil disobedience. Had ms Goeser been civilly disobedient her husband may still be here today.
We should stand up for our 2nd amendment rights.
