Our friends over at Henry Repeating Arms have some cool new guns set to launch in Jan. 2017.
Among those on the docket include a single shot rifle chambered in .308, .223, .243, .45-70, a single shot shotgun chambered in 12 gauge, 20 gauge and 410 gauge and, perhaps the bell of the bunch, a lever action .410 shotgun.
To get a brief overview of the new lineup, check out the video above. You’ll see Henry president Anthony Imperato discuss the new guns (around the 20 min mark), which are assembled at their facility in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
The .410 lever shotgun was designed at the behest of customers, who were clamoring for a lever scattergun, according to Imperato. Purchasers will have two different options when it comes to barrel length.
Specs and pricing have not yet been released. But stay tuned, we should know in the near future, but if not, definitely by SHOT Show 2017.
I have heard that the Marlin 410 Lever Action Shotgun and the Winchester 9410 Lever Action Shotguns have a micro-rifled barrels; is this true?

I am going to “tacticalfy” one. I’ll install a Skinner aperture rear, fiber optic front, leather lever wrap, mount a light/laser on it and finish it in a desert digital camo. Load it with OOO buckshot and use it for home defense or truck gun.
I have a marlin 410 lever action had it for a few years never had a shell in it I have about 800 wrapped up in it don’t even know what they are selling for now days it is still inside the box
The lever-action .410 would be kind of neat if the price was right. My wife likes to shoot the one we have – which is an original 1920’s era Marlin (ser #6660 of the original 10,000). However, that one is a serious antique that I’d hate to break and I’d really like to get her a newer one that can get used regularly (and where spare parts exist).
I’ve got a Taurus Circuit Rider in .410/.45. It’s light handy and fast, reasonably accurate as well. Advantage here is you can load it with mixed rounds. For home defense load ir with three rounds of .410 3 buck followed up by .45 colts. If the first rounds dont discourage the next will do the trick. Otherwise .410 for squirrel and .45 for deer.
I like the single-shot shotguns. They look like they are modeled after the Winchester Model 37, but the sample seems to be of higher cosmetic quality than the 37. Those old 37s used to be cheap, but like everything else, it has become a collectible of sorts. When I was a kid, every farmer had one and they were usually pretty banged up but shot good. They have a straighter stock than the H&R Toppers and seem to have less felt recoil than the Topper (which is punishing in 12 ga.). Hopefully, the Henry will shoot soft also. Lots of young hunters got turned-off by having the 12 gauge Topper as their first gun (for the recoil) or the 410 (for its killing/hitting power for novice hunters). In Skeet, the 410 is an expert’s round, not a beginner’s, and so should it be for hunting.
I saw some comments here about using 410 “slugs” for deer. I believe that in some jurisdictions, it is unlawful to use them for deer for lack of killing power. Maybe the new 410 slug ammo has overcome this (?) No doubt a saboted bullet in 12 or 20 gauge is better.
Get you some Hornady .444 Marlin brass (neck it down to .410), Hornady .41 Magnum FTX bullets (for reloadiing) some H110 Powder (use the hottest 1/2
ounce load) and I think that you will be
amazed at what a “.410 FTX Slug” will kill!!!

20 gauge is too big for the action. Adler makes 12 gauge lever guns. Not sure if sold in USA.
I just acquired an 1894 Winchester, .30 WCF, made in 1900, 26″OBCBFM It is almost new. Since I have more Winchesters than I can ever use, I would like to sell it . About 99.9% original factory blue. The very sharp bore looks unfired. Also have another, made in 1905, .32WS, about 97%. It was fired, but not very much.
I would be interested depending upon the price. Could you send a picture?

The Henry lever action .410 shotgun, using slugs instead of pellets, would be perfect for Whitetail deer in South East Wisconsin and in other places where “shotgun only” is allowed for deer hunting. .
The 410 is too small a slug to use on whitetail. Maybe Rabbits, but to use a 410 slug on deer would be unethical. Sorry, no insult or anything , just stating my personal knowledge of this ga.

A 410 bore accommodates a 45 slug. Are you saying a 30-30 is to small?
Sorry, but I bow hunt and my arrows aren’t any bigger than 30 caliber and I’ve taken close to 45 deer and 35 elk.

What part of .410 BORE don’t you understand? The bore will accommodate a .410 Caliber Bullet (.41 RemMag).
You can load .41 caliber bullets in your .410 hull to use for slugs. But the bullets had better be SOFT Lead, if you are shooting with a Full Choke.
The combination guns are chambered for .45 Colt, which is the Diameter of a .410 Hull.
A .410 gauge shotgun will not chamber a 41 cal. it will take a .45 cal There is a difference in shotgun gauge and handgun/rifle caliber
The caliber has nothing to do with the power of a bullet other than potentially the mass. Otherwise just throw a rock at it and you are way better off then a 410.

We have used .410 slugs in Ind. for years.
I used a .410 for deer hunting as my 1st gun. It kills them just fine but not with the knockdown of say a 20 or 12 guage. I feel it made me the fine blood trailer that I am today. I would recommend you only take shots that are not iffy but shots that you are 100 percent sure of a clean kill
Like any firearm and cartridge you have to know it’s limitations. I shoot most of my deer with a bow under 15 yards so a 410 would work just fine. If you can control yourself in not stretching the barrel out for a long shot it would work. Marksmanship and good judgement and it would be fine

For the right experienced shooter the .410 will definitely do the job.
Esp in light of the millions of deer that have been killed for the pot around the world w/.22 short-long+longrifle- as well as hogs- bear-moose-caribou and elk etc…
I had the Marlin .410 lever action I bought from from Cabela’s which I had hopes of being a good squirrel gun, but the
“softer” shotgun shells did not feed consistently and frequently jammed. I was VERY disappointed in it since I had several Marlin products in my life that were excellent. I determined the harder rifle shells and bullets guided the shell into the chamber much better than the softer .410 shells. If you get one be prepared to be frustrated unless Henry has fixed this problem.
Lever guns are tricky. I loved my Henry Big Boy .357 but it jammed frequently… endedup selling it. Really beautiful rifle…
I have had my Winchester Model 9410 Lever Gun for 13 years now. Never a single mis-feed in over 2,000 rounds, 2 3/4″. The .410 slug works great on coyotes and Whitetail.The exit hole is huge, especially if it hits bone of any kind. I bought this while living in Alaska for a Grouse Gun. When I moved to Texas I started using it for quail, dove, coyotes and deer.(from a stand). For coyotes up close I found the .00 buck to be a fun round.
I also have a Henry .357 Lever Gun. I have only fired about a thousand rounds through it and have never has any kind of mis-feed or Jam.
I am looking forward to trying the new Henry 410 when it hits the market.

Probably not. I think there would be accuracy issues of a smooth bore rifle also.
Rossi already has two level action 410 shotguns on the marked…Davidson list them, but neither are in stock…such would like
for them to get them in because they are priced very well….
The Rossi is a beaut. I have owned one since 2010. Lovely piece of work and the price was right.
