Those in control of our government and the bureaucracy HATE gun owners, UNLESS they are big campaign donors or violent criminals. Why do they like those folks? Well, it’s obvious about the donors. A similar incident occurred in Baltimore, only in that incident the hero was arrested. He stopped the villain using non-lethal means and held him for police. Shoulda been paraded as a hero; but you see he was legally armed EXCEPT that he was in a bar and Maryland law says you can’t carry in liquor establishment. So even though he didn’t fire his weapon the police arrested him. The shit supervisor (a lieutenant) said that they had to make an example of him for violating the Maryland concealed carry laws …..
I suspect he’ll get good representation and walk away with nothing more than a burning desire to flee that cesspool of a city and a seriously deleted bank account; but the takeaways from this are your “concealed carry insurance” won’t cover you if it’s not legal for you to be armed when you act.
Kudos to your friend for doing the right thing. Sometimes, law enforcement goes too far in enforcing the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law. And, I think CCW insurance should operate under the same premises.

We all share some blame, Hollywood, AR lovers, people who carry to feel cool, those who have guns and terrible tempers, those who don’t store their guns securely against theft, those who buy guns for their creepy mentally ill kids, etc, etc, etc. The list is long.

I hate to break it to you,but half of that swamp is Republican.Both sides are pretending to have opposing agendas so they can slowly take everything away without most people noticing.Dems pass gun laws and increase taxes,become the bad guys,Republicans come to “save the day”…except they don’t…most gun laws are still in place and prices are still high, but they DO take some personal freedoms like bodily autonomy and some people’s ability to vote.Then it’s the Democrats turn to play hero again,except nothing the Republicans did actually gets reversed,but we get more gun laws and taxes.Both sides are playing good cop/bad cop in an alternating pattern,keeping us mad at each other instead of mad at the government as a whole.Both sides are playing their roles,slowly eroding all of our rights and freedoms and they actually have us blaming each other for it instead of them.

Honestly, I think we did but the local reporting at the time was sparse and indicated that a woman had stopped the attack. I tried to dig up the article but couldn’t find it. I’ll keep looking. We make it our mission to spread the word when something like this happens.

Local media covered this shooting, including an NBC affiliate, and The Associated Press moved a story, which is about as mainstream as the media gets. The story relates how the bad guy was stopped by a good guy, but police had not released Mendez’s name.
Note that the news of this shooting gets lost in the big story of the following day, the Highland Park, Illinois, mass shooting.
