Hillary Clinton just won’t go away.
Despite her historic, embarrassing loss in the 2016 presidential election, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence awarded Clinton the “Courageous Leadership Award” at their 25th-anniversary dinner on Thursday night.
Clinton took the opportunity to bash the NRA and received a standing ovation for her efforts.
“The gun lobby spent about $30 million against me, not having the guts to take on specific gun proposals,” she said. “In fact, their ads had nothing to do with guns. They were just outright lies.”
The irony here is that the NRA is more than happy to discuss specific gun proposals, and Clinton herself has lied repeatedly about guns and gun laws. Here are just a few of her fibs.
False “mass shooting” numbers
There have been more than 270 mass shootings in the United States this year alone. That’s where four or more are killed. Two hundred and seventy. We cannot accept this as normal. We cannot become desensitized.
Clinton made this statement during a book tour stop on Oct. 9, 2017, at UC Davis. The problem, as PolitiFact noted at the time, is that Clinton conflates two vastly different definitions of “mass shooting.” Under Clinton’s definition, there had been three mass shootings by October of 2017. The 270-shooting mark can only be reached if injuries are included in that statistic as well as deaths.
“Silencers”?
The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots.

Clinton tweeted this idea just hours after the Las Vegas gunman opened fire on October 2, 2017. PolitiFact rated this statement false as well. Suppressors don’t silence the sound of gunfire, especially from a rifle. Suppressed rifles are still about as loud as a jackhammer, and they’re designed to suppress sound for the shooter—not people downrange.
Misleading “gun violence” numbers
…90 people a day die from gun violence in our country. That’s 33,000 people a year.
Clinton delivered this remark during a debate with then-presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders on January 17, 2016. This is a popular sound byte among anti-gun lobbyists, but it’s massively misleading. The only way to get to 33,000 “gun deaths” is by counting the 21,000 suicide victims who use guns each year. Most people would likely agree that a person who commits suicide with a gun is hardly a victim of “gun violence,” especially considering the higher rates of suicide in relatively gun-free countries like Japan and South Korea.
“Immunity” for gun makers?
Let’s reverse the immunity. Let’s put the gun makers and sellers on notice that they’re not going to get away with it.
Clinton made this claim about gun manufacturers during a 2015 Democratic primary debate in Iowa on Nov 14, 2015. It’s another popular talking point, and it’s equally untrue. Clinton is referring to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), a law passed in the 1990s that protects gun manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits. It doesn’t grant gun makers immunity from being held accountable for defective products. It simply reiterates the common-sense notion that a business isn’t responsible for what their customers choose to do with their products.
Larry Keane, senior vice president, assistant secretary and general counsel to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, pointed out the underlying agenda of lawsuits aimed at gun manufacturers.

“The PLCAA only bars frivolous lawsuits that seek to blame gun manufacturers and dealers for the criminal misuse of lawfully sold, non-defective products,” explained Keane in an email to GunsAmerica. “The PLCAA exists because the Brady Center, greedy trial lawyers and big city mayors got together in the late 1990’s to circumvent Congress and impose gun control regulation through litigation through settlements or bankrupt the industry with massive judgment.”
Clinton’s lies didn’t do her any favors. A poll found on the eve of the election that 46 percent of likely voters believed Donald Trump was more trustworthy than Clinton. Trump went on to win 304 electoral college votes to Clinton’s 227.
We should take away allof the weapons from her security detail and see what her opinion of gun control is after that. Since she is anti gun why is she escorted by secret service that carry?

Every generation since has had men who gave Military Service. Several are various military academy graduates so no one on this board can say “gun hater” to me. Gentlemen: though I didn’t vote for her, Hillary DID win the popular vote by well over a million ahead of Trump. She MAY have won the Electoral College but for Russian interferance in our elections (everyone out there seems now to discount the Russians – a government with almost 80 years of credentialed untrustworthiness and proven bad intent towards the U.S. and free European governments – as well as recently, some of their former slave states and puppet regimes.)
“Mike” – hey dude what you don’t know about product liability law is scary – and shameful. The vehicles we drive are reasonability safe (excepting the numnut behind the wheel) BECAUSE of product liability. A case before the Federal Supreme Court in the early 1930s squaring off a citizen against GM over a failed steering part gave citizens the right to demand cars – and later many other types of products – gave service “to specs” that provided “reasonable” and testable safety to their users. That’s why Remington and other gun manufacturers have voluntarily or have been forced to rework actions and safetys recently – on hand and long guns that were shown not to have reliably safe mechanisms. We all hope (and can be reasonably sure) that U.S. Courts will never find guns to be de facto inherently unsafe -so dial back the angry uninformed statements and go read up on U.S. law and the legal system. And tell the NRA to keep up the gun safety training courses, be friends with ALL the political Parties and quit this “fortress” mentality. Remember how protective the Maginot Line was in the end to the French at the beginning of WW2? If you’re not part of the solution to the recent spate of gun violence and mass shootings, you’re part of the problem! Screaming hysterically about MY RIGHTS doesn’t do much for the dead children!
Sorry, but bragging about being a Democrat in today’s party is like bragging about being a Communist, not cool. I was a Democrat for my youthful years until I woke up around Jimmy Carter time. Haven’t looked back since. My ancestors came here in 1735, long before the Revolutionary War. Many served in the Civil War, on both sides, I might add. The only problem I see in the children being killed is today’s parents are raising animals, not kids. Most of the consequential shooters have also been Democrats, so your point is not well taken. No one is screaming hysterically about gun rights…..but many are quietly planning for the day they start to attempt to take them away. It won’t be a picnic and liberals will rue the day when they try.
