President Joe Biden on Monday leveraged the four-year anniversary of the Parkland massacre to call on Congress to restrict the 2A rights of law-abiding citizens.
While discussing what his administration has done to end the “epidemic of gun violence” — initiatives like, “curbing the proliferation of ‘ghost’ guns, cracking down on gun dealers who willfully violate the law, issuing model extreme risk protection order legislation for states, and promoting safe firearm storage” — Biden said it’s now time for Congress to act.
“And Congress must do much more — beginning with requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers,” said Biden in a statement obtained by GunsAmerica.

“We can never bring back those we’ve lost. But we can come together to fulfill the first responsibility of our government and our democracy: to keep each other safe. For Parkland, for all those we’ve lost, and for all those left behind, it is time to uphold that solemn obligation,” the president concluded.

Biden’s received a fair amount of criticism from anti-gun advocates for what they see as a lack of progress on the issue.
Former Parkland student David Hogg voiced his disappointment with the Biden administration during a Monday interview on CNN.
“I’m disappointed,” said Hogg. “Frankly, if I could say one thing to the President, it’s that we need you to go out and act right now before the next Parkland happens. There are things you can do right now to help prevent it that you have not done.”

Specifically, Hogg wants Biden to create a gun czar position at the federal level. What he called “an office of gun violence prevention” replete with a “national director to lead it now.”

Hogg did not delve into how exactly this new bureaucracy would “save lives” or prevent the “next Parkland.”
But the 21-year-old did blast pro-gun lawmakers and the NRA in a separate tweet, indicating that they are responsible for the criminal acts of drug dealers, gangsters, serial killers, and sociopaths.

How many crimes are committed using legally purchased Guns? Not many . There are no other laws that can be passed that would make the streets safer. There is a culture problem not a Gun problem. Why is it that in almost 50 years of life , never once have my friends or myself ever said hey let’s go shoot up some people. Or why don’t we go do some drive by shootings tonight. Never . And we pretty much all grew up around Guns. My neighborhood has never had a single shooting. Not 1 ever. Why is that? But on average every weekend in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York it’s no big deal to literally have 50 shootings each weekend. Who are the people doing these crimes? Where do they live ? Barack Obama said that one of his biggest regrets was that he couldn’t get anything going on the gun front. Honestly, when Trump banned bump stocks he did more to advance common sense solutions to gun violence than Obama did in 8 years. Obama’s influence can be seen all over Biden’s administration (Biden only was elected because most of his voters wanted a third term for Obama) and the frustration over firearms can be seen in everyone involved.

I lived less than 10 miles from Parkland when that incident occurred. Matter of fact, I worked in Parkland and am familiar with MSD HS. So, I think I have a better take than You on the situation. I’ve met Andrew Pollack, father of slain student Meadow, heard him speak on the shooting, and even been to his house. He is NOT a gun-control freak like you and Hogg-boy. With possibly one exception, you don’t hear any of the victims families screaming for idiotic gun bans and more restrictions on legal gun owners.
