Brady United recently launched a pledge in an effort to change the way guns and gun culture are depicted on the big screen.
The anti-gun organization is asking writers, directors, and producers to sign it. So far, over 200 have done so, including several A-listers like directors Adam McKay and Judd Apatow.
“Guns are prominently featured in TV and movies in every corner of the globe, but only America has a gun violence epidemic,” says Brady United.
That statement is, of course, a bald-faced lie. Other developed countries do indeed struggle with gun-related violence and mass public shootings.
As GunsAmerica previously reported in 2018, the U.S. ranks 62nd, below countries like Norway (14), Finland (31), Switzerland (45), and Russia (51), when it comes to the murder rate from mass public shootings per 100,000 people.
Brady United continues, “The responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives. We didn’t cause the problem, but we want to help fix it.”
Again, Brady is lying. If gun control was a panacea for violence, major cities with relatively stringent gun laws, like Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Baltimore, and Los Angeles, would not experience the level of violent crime that they currently do.

The truth is that there is no evidence that gun control works. In fact, there is not one reliable study in the entire body of literature on the subject that proves gun control is an effective solution to combat crime and violence. Not one!
Anyway, those who sign the Brady United pledge promise to:
- Use our creativity to model responsible gun ownership and show consequences for reckless gun use. We will make a conscious effort to show characters locking their guns safely and making them inaccessible to children.
- Have at least one conversation during pre-production regarding the way guns will be portrayed on screen and consider alternatives that could be employed without sacrificing narrative integrity.
- Limit scenes including children and guns, bearing in mind that guns are now the leading cause of death for children and adolescents.
Maybe in the grand scheme of things, it’s not such a bad idea for Hollywood’s elite to be more mindful of the content they are producing.
That said, crime control ultimately starts in the home. Children who grow up with irresponsible, neglectful, or abusive parents (or guardians) are far more likely to run into trouble later on in life.
Deep down everyone knows this yet no one from Brady or Everytown or Moms Demand Action is doing anything about it. Instead, they’d rather have the public look way downstream to focus myopically on firearms.
Because if people forget about the root of the problem and the human dynamics involved, gun-control advocates know they will be more apt to support the true Brady agenda, which isn’t to lower crime, rather it’s to completely disarm America.

I admit that I do not know Lon Chaney Sr., at least not yet, but I indeed know Buster Keaton, as I have seen him once the movie “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, although I have to say that the movie isn’t really my taste. The oldest American movie that I have seen just a few days ago, as I’ve finally gotten my hands on the Blu-ray, was “Cleopatra” with Claudette Colbert from 1934. It is excellent and I also think that Claudette Colbert looks even more beautiful than Elizabeth Taylor in her role as Cleopatra 30 years later. Luckily, I do not watch TV at all, but I see enough when I visit my parents from time to time, as they watch TV a lot, having grown up with it, and you are right once again, nothing happens by accident, not even in the commercials.
Indeed, Hollywood has already gone too far, but I have already read an article not long ago that less people are tuning in for the Oscars, especially because less people care for all the woke movies Hollywood is making. I think they are about to face an identity crisis, as we consumers have the last word in what we want to watch and if most people will not be giving any cash for Hollywood’s woke productions anymore, they just have to turn around or they end up bankrupt. Maybe it’s just me, but personally I can’t wait to see this happen.
And about the porno thing (Thank you very much for the interesting history lesson!) I can only write this: There is no way this can be stopped today, at least I don’t think so. As this stuff is now everywhere for free on the internet and, unfortunately, becomes somehow a part of society, the British Dailymail for example reports almost daily about some Only Fans “star”, it appears, at least to me, that today’s Hollywood becomes more and more focused on making their actors and especially their actresses look just like the people that appear in those X-rated movies. Seriously, for years I am already complaining about how our female news anchors look like, no matter if they are working for NBC, ABC, FOX or for any other station, because they often look like as if they are also doing another, but very different job in front of the camera, due to the way they are dressed and for wearing all the tons of heavy makeup. Can’t they just look like a normal woman from the streets, as we are all used to, in their natural God given beauty? And no, I am not old-fashioned in any way or want to tell the people how they shall look like, but again, if you compare today’s movies with the old cinema classics you can clearly see that the men and women in the classics had some special style, instead of selling their bodies whenever and wherever they can. It makes me sad, but this is another reason why, except when it comes to the classics, I have turned completely towards Asian cinema. And I will only return if Hollywood will ever make a 180-degree turnaround.
I believe that many of the films of Lon Chaney Sr. are lost and only short clips from the movies now exist. His films had darker themes than Keaton. I know you have seen Lon Chaney Jr. in the talkies playing a werewolf and other monster movies. Jr. was also in “High Noon” but he never achieved the status of his father.
I just Deep Discount (DVD) and they have a Quo Vadis and Claudette Colbert so I will keep an eye out for a deal, Thanks.

Bill Maher is now the nearest thing to a voice of reason from the left. The “entertainment industry” has long pedaled hate propoganda pretending it was all innocent fun with coutless saguinary scenes of shoot outs in Churches and other twisted acts. Then there was a real shooting in a fake Church by an anti-2A actor (Alec Baldwin) who was being directed by an incompetant crew. Of course, I have never seen a Hollywood shoot out scene in a Synagog. I wonder why?
Personally, I hate Hollywood movies, except for the big classics, like Quo Vadis, Spartacus, Cleopatra and other ancient movie stuff like that, otherwise I am a big fan of Asian cinema. Yet, I personally wonder if there was just one Hollywood movie ever made that includes a shooting not in a Synagogue, but in a Mosque. I truly doubt it, as for all the woke freaks out there, and Hollywood is filled with them to the max today, Islam is “The religion of peace.”, where stuff like this could truly never happen.

I have never seen a shoot out in a Mosque in the movies despite the many potrayals of the Islamic terrorists by “Hollywood.” Regagless, Islam does NOT get off without image makers trying to control mass psychology on that specific demographic. Maybe the “Charlie Hebdo” or whatever that was called gives some people pause for how they will handle that issue.
Maybe we can agree on this, negative use of Christian iconography is over represented by the Trillion Dollars “entertainment industry”?
I believe this form and many other forms of psych-ops has been going on for generations and only gets more blatant year after year. Way before there were so many Islamic communities in the US, Christianity was under attack on the “Big Screen.” The question then might become who creates and finances such negative images? I would welcome a list of any seemingly Islamic names that could be made peddling lucrative hate propoganda, I CANNOT come up with one.
You are spot on here. Negative usage of Christian iconography is indeed over represented, at least today. This is another reason why I enjoy the classic Hollywood movies like Quo Vadis. And yes, it is also true that all of this is going downhill for years, not just when it comes to religion. My mother desperately wanted to watch Star Wars Episode VII with me, back in 2016, so I gave in, despite my worries, and all we’ve received was some feminist crap movie. I was wondering why so many fans were praising this leftist mess, until Episode VIII showed up and finally even the dumbest Star Wars fan was capable of not taking the woke crap anymore, which Disney wanted to desperately shove down our throats. Luckily, Episode VII was also the last movie that I’ve ever seen in a cinema.
Being a child of the 1990s (Not considering myself one of those millennials!), I actually do not remember those days or the 2000s as being this woke and anti-Christian when it comes to movies, although I also think that there was a slow degradation happening back then already. Personally, the big downfall may have started somewhere around 2015, during the big refugee crisis, when suddenly millions of Muslims were on the March to the west, but I might be wrong on this one. But I tell you, all this woke stuff with its extreme feminism and general wokery on one side and such a hardcore patriarchic anti-feminist religion on the other side won’t be going well in the long run and I personally am just waiting for all of this to blow up one day. And then even Hollywood will probably wake up, although it may be too late then.
The era of classic movies was also the same era where the Legion of Decency held considerable sway over the perverts in Hollywood. The perverts came from the porno pushers with new tech plying their trade in the camps of the Army of the Potomac. At some point were barred by General Grants order Number 10(?) which was rescinded by Abraham Lincoln. From the camp suttlers through the nicolodean pornography leaving a slimy trail up to and beyond Harvey Weinstein.

There are no accidental images, even commercials today are selling far more than a simple consumer product. I grew up in the era where Star Wars was all the rage but I never bothered since sci-fi was was never my favorite.
I did enjoy the Sopranoes several years ago. So when the sequal with James Gandolfini’s son was released I made sure I caught the film. It was attrocious, dripping of wokism lies and hate propoganda. An Italian group should sue for defamation. Hollywood will most likely die a slow death with a new era left wing censorship that will be so fake and restrictive that people will tune out. For awhile some foreign films like Australian productions were making good films like Gallipoli and Breaker Morant but that seems to have been curtailed.
Almost everyone turned their back on Corey Feldman but the “me too” crowd stood down when he needed them.
The hypocrisy of Hollywood will never change. Is their public service bs for smoking right before a movie with people lighting up supposed to deter anyone? Now Gun safety? Ban those guns they use on TV and movies, then see who buys their nonsense.
