Holster Shopping with Clay: BLACKHAWK’s Leather 3 Slot Pancake ($99!)

Last summer, Springfield Armory released an awesome new pistol, the Range Officer Elite Operator, a 9mm 1911 with a Picatinny rail. The gun has been fantastic and the added weight of the rail really absorbs recoil. The only problem is finding a holster for a rail-equipped 1911 is like finding Waldo with pepper spray in your eyes. It ain’t easy.

The 3 Slot Pancake Holster from BLACKHAWK!

Comes with a snap for added security

This week, I found Waldo!  It’s BLACKHAWK!’s new, belt-slide holsters!  Crafted from handmade-Italian leather, each holster has a unique finish, a testament to the quality and craftsmanship.  They are double stitched and come with a lifetime warranty.

The model I tested was the 3 Slot Pancake, which is aptly suited for either straight-up or canted carry. It is a thumb-break style with a snap; quick to deploy but also secure enough for any conditions. The holster feels nice on the hip and against the body, and distributes the weight of the full-sized pistol perfectly.

The gun-holster fit was tight initially, but that is to be expected from a new leather holster. A little bit of wear and this thing is set for a lifetime of service. MSRP $99.95.

3 Slot Pancake comes with a lifetime warranty.

The price is $99.

Bonus: BLACKHAWK! Fury Prime Gloves

The Fury Prime Gloves!

While I was testing the new holster, I also got a chance to try BLACKHAWK!’s Fury Prime GlovesUnleash the fury! (Is that movie reference too passé?)

Features

  • Stable – Silicone print delivers superior grip.
  • Tough – Sonic-welded, molded TPR protects back of hand.
  • Dextrous – Tactile grip aids in manipulating firearms.

These gloves are touch screen compatible and feature new molded hand protection on the back side. The palms are padded and feature a silicone print to help you grip your gun.

I found them very comfortable with a fit that doesn’t interfere with any task, e.g. drawing, shooting, reloading. MSRP is $38.95, and yes they come in grey.

The Fury Prime Gloves retail for $38.95.

I looked for one of these for a 1911/rail, without success. I checked with Blackhawk, who said it wouldn’t be available until probably June. Just FYI if you’re looking for one. I’m still trying to find something decent in a concealment holster for a 1911 with a rail.

I thought it was AR week? I’ve been shoping all over for a $900.00 M&P AR 10 Sport. No luck yet.

Clay, kinda sounded like you were throwing shade on Black Hawk? Or was it just me?? Anyway what I’d like to know is this, are the new Black Hawk holsters gun specific?, and if so, do they make one for the Glock 17 or 34?
BTW Love your videos, keep up the good work!!

Hey dude, I’m not sure if they specifically make the full range for airsoft weapons but as copies of the real guns, they should fit no problem…
