Huffpo reporter: ‘I believe these are rubber bullets…’

Authors S.H. Blannelberry

Perhaps this speaks to the media’s overall illiteracy when it comes to firearms, but Ryan J. Reilly, a Huffington Post reporter, put out the following tweet on Friday while covering the demonstrations in Ferguson, Missouri:

FAIL! Nope, those aren’t rubber bullets. Guess again. Reilly later apologized for the error and retracted the tweet.

This does not SURPRISE ME .The media is clueless when it comes to firearms and the SECOND AMENDMENT . What scares me is they have A COLLEGE DEGREE . Tells you how bad higher learning is . It is a money making scam

‘come on – I’m no genius, but rubber bullets – really?

Poor liberals, bless their hearts. At least they try….. Sort of

I have at least a hundred rounds of that ammo and can get more. I will let it go for $1.00 a round and it comes in two round packs.

just a typical “head up ass” ignorant liberal.

It could have been worse. He could have mistaken an umbrella to be an “assault weapon” and the “authorities” would have had to lock down every school within a 50 mile radius! Oh, wait a minute, that did happen in Commiefornia this past week!!! Never mind.

we all know just how liberal those in the media have become – simply learning about firearms and related subject matter in order to report accurately would violate their principles and we certainly can’t have that. besides, the comedic value everytime one of these dumbasses starts babbling about something they know nothing about is just too entertaing. i’ll bet those rubber bullets the reporter found belong with the automatic weapon that the first reporter bought. HILARIOUS, pathetic and more than a little concerning – this is how America gets its information.

This is why there needs to be a technical consultant in-the-field with every reporter covering a major news story.
By-and-large, reports know nothing about military hardware or personnel.
They know next-too-nothing concerning Police SWAT tactics and associated equipment.
But yet … they’re reporting from-the-field out of sheer ignorance.

    What a sorry-state-of-affairs.

Actually they are very small condoms

If those were rubber bullets they would only travel 10 or 15 feet and be on the ground, having almost no mass. And whoever thought they could be ‘rubber bullets’ has absolutely no common sense.

Actually, I’ve fired them out of a 50 caliber black powder rifle for the fun of it. They fly 50-70 feet, but have absolutely no stability. Within 25 feet, you’re lucky if you can hit within a 6 foot circle of what you are aiming at.

Are those Hornady Nerfmax or Barnes Triple-puffs?

    Dumbass.

    • John L August 25, 2014, 8:33 pm

Thanks for cheering up my day. Hornady Nerfmax? I can’t stop laughing!

  • Robert T. August 25, 2014, 7:30 am

Those things are deadly nerf bullets for the fully automatic nerf tactical rifle. Only law enforcement officers can legally posses them. Putting these cartridges into your ears would risk death, which is why only LEO’s can safely use them. Now Mr. Reilly can go back to finishing his long overdue attack on such equipment and comment on the extreme negligence of the police for leaving these cartridges on the ground where anti-gun person could have been injured.

Least he recognized the error (somewhat – probably from other tweets?) and recanted it … that’s more than some would do ..
