Hunting with Suppressors Is Now Legal in Florida

Authors S.H. Blannelberry

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission struck down a ban Friday on the use of suppressors on rifles and pistols while hunting deer, gray squirrels, rabbits, wild turkeys, quail and crows.

While Florida had already permitted one to use suppressors on shotguns or while hunting non-game wildlife like feral hogs and armadillos, a longstanding statute instituted in 1957 prohibited hunters from using suppressors on rifles and pistols when hunting game animals.

“With the enactment of the new regulation, Florida becomes the 33rd state to allow hunters to use legally possessed suppressors in the field for all game animals,” said the American Suppressor Association in a statement.”

“Earlier this year, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana all enacted similar pro-suppressor hunting reform,” ASA continued. “Of the 34 states in which suppressor hunting is legal, Montana is now the only state which restricts their use to certain types of animals. For a full map of suppressor legalities, visit the ASA’s website.”

That’s great news! Watch out the next thing is all firearm will come out from the factory with sound mufflers like all motors do. The reason the ATF Tax on suppressors, because game wardens wanted to catch poachers.
