Last Thursday, three days after being sworn into office, newly elected Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) signed legislation regulating firearm dealers in the state.  Under the new law, it will be illegal for retailers to sell firearms without first obtaining state certification.

In order to obtain certification, stores must be licensed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).  Then the store must submit a copy of its ATF license along with an affidavit declaring the license is current and valid to the Illinois State Police.  Shops will also have to install surveillance equipment, maintain an electronic inventory, establish anti-theft measures and require employees to complete annual training.

Registering with the state will cost $300 for independent dealers and $1,500 for retail shops.  The requirement will affect approximately 2,400 gun dealers in the state.

“Just because we’re signing this today doesn’t mean there isn’t more to do,” Pritzker said at the signing ceremony held at an elementary school in Chicago.  “But this particular bill is very important.”

Pritzker also said that he wants the state to outlaw bump stocks and trigger cranks this year.

The new law was passed by the Democrat-controlled General Assembly last year, but Democrats used procedural rules to prevent it from being vetoed by outgoing Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner.  Rauner vetoed a similar law in the spring because the federal government already licenses firearm retailers.  Rauner indicated at the time that adding another layer of oversight would be costly for businesses and “do little to improve public safety.”

Supporters of the law believe that federal regulators are stretched too thin to properly supervise firearm dealers in the state.  They believe that the extra level of regulation will reduce gun violence by preventing illegal gun purchases as well as “strawman transactions” in which someone buys a firearm on behalf of a person who is legally prevented from doing so.

The Illinois State Rifle Association indicated it will file a lawsuit to challenge the new law.

“The federal government already licenses gun dealers.  There is no need to add yet another layer of bureaucracy on gun dealers,” said executive director Richard Pearson in a statement.  “The only thing this measure is going to do is make it cost more money for gun dealers to do business in Illinois, which is going to hurt the smaller dealers.  The action taken today is another assault on our 2nd Amendment rights.”

“Rest assured we will be challenging this new law in court,” Pearson said.

Random drug testing for all Politican’s, especially Mr. Prickster….

They aren’t stopping there either. Illinois Dems are proposing a gun ban as well; Certain swim autos, including the AR15. And of course the Communist governor uses the same old cliche, “weapons of war” to further the ignorance in the Chicago suburbs.

Interestingly enough, when the framers wrote the 2nd Amendment in, the term “arms” wasn’t referring to hunting shotguns. They knew for a fact that we were advancing in technology. In spite of this, they wanted citizens to have access to the same weapons as the military. Examples as to why are all around us. Corrupt, impartial government officials who push their own agendas. The original meaning of the Constitution made it impossible for the state and federal governments to infringe on the freedoms of Americans. Because the ones who wrote it knew that no government should be able to tell citizens what’s best for them. However, now these assholes have the power to not only enforce, but interpret the Constitution. And that is dangerous.

The Constitution of the United States of America is the law as it is written. By classical definition. Interpretation is implemented.

Last time I looked it still was. I won’t hold my breath, but isn’t the FBI supposed to be arresting these people for their treasonous actions? All gun laws that pertain to law abiding citizens are unconstitutional, any attempt to infringe on these God givin and as they put it “COMMON SENSE “rights, should be just cause for their trial, conviction, and immediate execution. As per Constitutional statutes. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again just say’n. I’m only an auto mechanic, and I know what SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED means. By the way Fascism is a LEFTIST IDEOLOGY, so is the current Democratic party platform. Check it out!

I’m certainly not a leftist, but traditionally, fascism is an almost exclusively right wing ideology(almost by definition.)

Nope, you are incorrect, try again. History of the origins of fascism.

Maybe you are confused as to what a Nazi is. Nazi stands for National Socialist Workers Party. Does’nt this sound like an organization of the Right? Socialist Workers Party. Yup that sounds like the right to me cause we all know Socialism is a product of the Right, right?

Good! Sanity and reasonableness. The firearms freeforall has got to end, says this gun nut (with a conscience and a brain). No need to respond, I won’t see your habitual knee-jerk NRA mindless boobery.

      How courageous…

Just another feel good piece of Illinois trash laws. This should effect crime as mush as the Illinois F.O.I.D. law, just another money grab by the state. FOID is the Illinois Firearms Own, for those that don’t know Identification.

  • Awesome Bill from Dawsonville January 25, 2019, 10:01 am

Pritzker’s minions just proposed IL SB0107, legislation which will outlaw magazines over 10 rounds, defines almost every semi-automatic as an “assault rifle” and requires firearm registration. Those who don’t register their weapons will be felons. Democrats hold both houses and the governor’s mansion too making passage almost a given. Other than the grass roots outrage that’s starting to build, the only hope we have is that down-state lawmakers don’t cave to the Chicago mob mentality. Illinois sucks.

  • AJ January 25, 2019, 9:56 am

Communist piece of garbage… How about this, the federal FFL trumps state certification.

This is why I don’t want to move back to that shit state. Communist playground.

  • krinkov545 January 25, 2019, 8:27 am

Commie swine like this new Ill gov will never be placated. He even is a fat pig.

  • Dr Motown January 25, 2019, 7:30 am

Hey, Governor Prissy, when will you outlaw corrupt politicians and aldermen? You know, the kind who hide dozens of guns in the Chicago city hall, a “gun-free zone?”

    • Justista January 25, 2019, 10:29 am

Pritzker pulled all the toilets out of one of his Chicago mansions and had his crooked assessor buddy declare it uninhabitable and assess for millions less than what it was worth before reinstalling them.
He is as crooked as he is stupid.

  • Bultaco January 25, 2019, 7:19 am

At least after 4 years I ll see a raise good riddance to the outgoing goof now I ll be able to afford to join a gun club & buy ammo for target practice .

    • B RAD January 25, 2019, 10:54 am

You probably didn’t deserve a raise. IL state workers are notoriously lazy and feel entitled “I ain’t busting my ass for nobody”. You are a troll and a Shitcago resident, who will eat your words as the new governor Putzcer taxes you and everybody else to death.

Any legislator that proposes or votes for ANY legislation that attempts to INFRINGE upon our 2nd Amendment rights should be prosecuted for treason and the sentence immediately carried out. Is treason still a capital crime?
