I grew up with a rack of high grade Italian side by side shotguns in my living room. It somehow ingrained in me a love for them, above most other guns. These days in the shotgun world the over/under is much more popular, but as my father explained to me once, they just aren’t natural. Your eyes are next to each other, your arms are next to each other, and most importantly, female breasts are next to each other, but that was not the word he used.

This story is more about FAIR that it is about the actual gun that I decided to pick up and feature. The Italian Firearms Group is bringing in FAIR over/unders as well, some that are very high grade, and they can be fitted to you like any other competition shotgun. I also saw some side by side hammer guns, and some single barrel/vent rib guns. From what Justin said, this factory has been making guns for other brands that you know, but I didn’t get the specific names. My guess would be Rizzini and Guerini, and possibly even some Berettas. As the second largest manufacturer in Italy, most likely nearly every Italian shotgun on the shelf at Cabelas was made in their factory.

Specifically this gun is worth checking into if you have always wanted a small gauge field grade dove shotgun. The belly is really elegant and tiny, and the stock and wrist seem to be finished as well and as nice a wood grain as you’ll find in any Italian shotgun under $5,000. At $1,400, it’s a steal, and I think it’s because they are trying to get the FAIR name out there.

Not that anyone cares, but I would have made up their own fake name that sounded cooler and more elegant than FAIR. Maybe even just put an accent mark on the “a” so that people will think it’s a fancy european word and that they have to figure out how to pronounce it. People don’t just buy Italian shotguns because they love them. To some degree they are ego guns and who the hell thinks FAIR sounds impressive? They are putting a dot between the letters, so it makes you feel like it stands for something, but that isn’t in the logo and perhaps doesn’t. Whatever. Nice gun. Good price.

Round belly? Neither of these dudes know wtf they are talking about. ThFAIR name is an acronym for Fabbrica de Armi de Isidro Rizzini, and they are NOT the largest mfg of Italian shotgund. The gun has peanut butter ugly pallet grade wood, and it sure does not look like a round body (“round belly” lol). Terrible info here.

While …”the over/under is much more popular, but as my father explained to me once, they just aren’t natural. Your eyes are next to each other, your arms are next to each other, and most importantly, female breasts are next to each other, but that was not the word he used”.
Did he say in adjacent and horizontal proximity instead?

Quote “My guess would be Rizzini and Guerini, and possibly even some Berettas.” How about some other guesses Paul.
