The STI/ TTI Combat Master Pistol Used in John Wick 3 – SHOT Show 2019

1911 Firearms Handgun Handguns Jeff Cramblit Pistols Semi-Autos SHOT Show 2019 USPSA

The release of the John Wick: Chapter 3 movie trailer last week had John shooting a gun that looked familiar to many Practical Pistol shooters; it was a customized STI 2011. The blank firing movie gun and an actual working model were on display at the STI Guns booth at the 2019 SHOT show.

Getting a grip on John Wick’s gun

The STI 2011 is essentially a double stacked 1911 that has a polymer grip with all the same controls as a tried and true 1911. The John Wick 3 pistol is a custom work between STI  and Taran Tactical Innovations (TTI).  TTI owner Taran Butler, is a world class shooter and trains many of the Hollywood shooting community and in turn has had his company’s firearms used in films.

STI has definitely gone prime time

The John Wick 3 TTI Combat Master started life as one of STI’s 5.4” platform guns similar to the STI 3 Gun model, but then got a lot of milling and attention. The slide cocking serrations and lightening holes and recesses really set it apart from a standard STI, which are by no means a “standard” 1911.

Lightened slide not only looks good but tends to recoil less

The gun has a deeply undercut trigger guard to give a high grip on the pistol and a highly textured grip to maintain grip in case of serious wet work. It also features STI’s mag well for rapid reloads. The standard STI 140mm magazine holds 21 rounds of 9mm Parabellum.

TTI Custom slide design upgrades applied to the STI

A limited number of the STI /TTI Combat Masters will be produced this year and sold through TTI. STI and Taran Tactical are well known in the competitive shooting community and have been producing top rate products used throughout the practical shooting sports.

While l really like this gun the way it looks and l seen it on a shooting review shoots as good as it looks the gun kicks ass the problem is the 4000 price while the only guns that l have that even comes remotely close to this gun is my Canik tp9sfx with a Freedomsmith race trigger with Taylor Freelance base pad magazine extension +7 making it 27+1 while I’m sure it’s nowhere near as nice as this STI combat master for 600 dollars with upgrades it’s probably as close as l will ever get to it not willing to sell all 12 of my handguns which would include a Walther PPQ navy Walther p99c Sig P365 to name a few for one it’s just to much money the car I’m driving a 2004 Buick lesabre only costed 3000 dollars this kind of gun is for the kind of people who make enough money to buy 400,000 dollar houses and 80,000 dollar trucks it’s not a utility workers gun at this price but that doesn’t mean it’s not a really nice gun if l hit the lottery I’m getting one

  • Stephen South March 6, 2019, 1:00 am

Well we can carry it in my State of Ohio and all our neighbor states, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Michigan

  • Randy Block February 27, 2019, 12:14 pm

For that kind of money you could put together a nice little armory of great shooting pistols in 3 or even 4 different calibers. You can be competitive with just about any gun if you put in the practice.

  • Richie February 6, 2019, 8:32 pm

    Truly a masterpiece!

  • e February 5, 2019, 7:46 pm

can’t believe the negative comments!? This thing is a stealth fighter for competitive shooting!
John Wick is a MOVIE fantasy. Of course the gun is extreme, just like John (not Reeves).
If you’ve seen the movies the sights are just fine. The gun will run a few mags and then be used to bludgeon someone before he grabs the gun they were carrying. Not trudging across the desert.
Sure, if I could afford one of these customs it would look a little different. that’s the best part of owning guns. We can make them to fit our needs and wants.

  • Robert DuCharme February 5, 2019, 6:38 pm

STI makes some of the best Guns in the world. I can’t wait to shoot this one.

  • Hondo February 5, 2019, 3:34 pm

To me it looks like an ugly version of the Deagle , hard pass on this overpriced piece of movie crap.

  • Beachhawk February 5, 2019, 2:13 am

That is one ugly pistol and it has an even uglier price tag.

  • Michael lewis February 4, 2019, 6:48 pm

Attach a famous person, actor, movie , etc to most any product, guns just being one, and it will sell to a few to those who just like those things, price not being a factor. Limited editions do catch the eye and have a selling hook. This could be the greatest of guns and not turn the head of some, others can’t wait to get their hands on one. I’m glad we live in a country where , in most places, we can pretty much buy what ever we like and can afford. Mikey

  • Daniel February 4, 2019, 5:09 pm

All you people saying you would never use this gun or take it for free you’re either lying or stupid. Those saying the price is to high (which it is expensive) and no one will be buy it doesn’t know firearms or STI and TTI cause they will definitely sell out and fast. I just bought two STIs. A Marauder 10mm and a DVC carry 9mm. So people will pay for it whether you think it’s to expensive or not.

  • Michael A. Gilliam February 4, 2019, 4:09 pm

I can’t believe it’s any more accurate than my Sig Sauer Scorpion 1911 and I just can’t see wasting that beautiful platform on 9mm. Don’t get me wrong, 9mm is a fine round when you want to put a lot of holes in something but I prefer the “knock down” power of the .45acp. That slower heavier round makes all the difference in the world. In todays world there are so many criminals out there who are so high while committing their assaults that unless you hit a major organ or artery with that 9mm they won’t even realize they’ve been shot. Trust me, if they’re hit with a 230 grain .45acp they’ll know it. But hey, I guess If I loved 9mm then this gun would be the one for me. Of course it would have to out perform my Browning Hi-Power.

    • PTMcCain February 5, 2019, 10:39 am

Trust me, STIs are *the* most mechanically accurate handguns I’ve used, more accurate than any COTS handgun out there. I had my Elite Tactical out at the gun club on Saturday and from a bean bag rest I got a .75″ group of five shots at 20 yards. Using regular old crappy range ammo.

  • Brick February 4, 2019, 3:29 pm

Major problem is that in the John Wick is the hand guns were H&K Glock Walther and Kimber. Not a single STI was in the actual movies. I’ve seen Keanues training vids also. Amazing 3 gun runs.

The hand guns used are already in production. A commemorative set done by the actual firearms companies makes sense. For STI to do it makes no sense, especially since STI are primarily race guns.

    • Terry February 5, 2019, 11:34 am

Did you actually read the article Brick? It says right at the beginning that this gun was used in John Wick 3. Have you seen John Wick 3? I know I haven’t because it doesn’t come out till May.

  • The Equalizer February 4, 2019, 2:33 pm

Laughably overpriced. I doubt they will sell a dozen at $3900. Drop the price to $1500 and they might sell enough to recoup their R & D costs.

  • Tommy February 4, 2019, 2:21 pm

Oooohh….a Hollywood John Wick magic gun!! One of those never empty, never miss, no matter how you point it guns!!
I want four of them. One for under each arm and two with middle of the back holsters so I can double draw and shoot sideways without aiming to look like a TOTAL badass douchebag!!

    • John August 10, 2019, 1:07 am

Your douchebaggy comment shows that you have never actually watched any of the John Wick movies. If you had you would know that your ignorant comments while potentially accurate of other Hollywood action movies are completely off base and not even remotely accurate of the movies you are attempting to trash in the comments.

  • Franklin Gaza February 4, 2019, 12:58 pm

Nice firearm. I have a Rock Island 1911 9 mm, that I like a lot. It holds 17 rounds and has a 4.25 inch barrel. As a former Marine I used to say I’d never own a 1911 in anything but 45 acp. 12 screws in my neck from a motorcycle wreck changed my attitude about that. The Rock Island is accurate, reliable, and the slide is very easy to manipulate.

  • Luis Bonilla February 4, 2019, 12:43 pm

With all the good and bad said . How many states will anyone be legally permitted to own a handgun that has a
    capacity of 21+1 ??

How long before democrats will take to ban the ownership of any weapon ( rifles , shotguns ,handguns , knifes ,bows & arrows , forks / spoons , cars ) the list can go on and on..

    • Stephen South March 6, 2019, 12:58 am

Well we can carry it in my State of Ohio and all our neighbor states, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Michigan

  • J Pettaway February 4, 2019, 11:15 am

At $3,899, I predict a limited number will be produced in 2020 also.

  • Mark February 4, 2019, 10:59 am

Well if it works with blanks in a fictional movie 🎥 that’s good enough for me to protect my self and loved ones.

  • Dave Davis February 4, 2019, 10:14 am

Way too expensive,, not worth it in anyway!

  • Mal Cap February 4, 2019, 9:43 am

Again, a DA/SA Pistol is not the best self defense carry firearm.

  • John (Buddy) Dana February 4, 2019, 9:23 am

I have never been a 9mm man. My personal carry is a .32 Colt Detective Special revolver new in 1935. I don’t mind small weapons but I prefer the .45 for killing people. I find that if you can hit what your aiming at then a .32 is fine. If you are conserned about knock down power, just aim for a knee cap.

    • Greg February 4, 2019, 12:40 pm

Check out m57 Tokerev. Best concealed of all time

    • Ejharb February 4, 2019, 8:18 pm

500 s&w magnum works on everything

  • al February 4, 2019, 9:10 am

Hey GA, why in the world are you and STI supporting a Hollywood elitist who supports PETA?????
    Reeves is a lefty, ya’know?

    • Charlie February 4, 2019, 12:50 pm

So he supports PETA. Not everyone is perfect. In general, he isn’t against the 2nd amendment and is a real true to life good guy. More than we can say about most actors. Elitist? I think you are talking about the wrong guy.

      • Daniel February 4, 2019, 5:03 pm

You should do some research on Reeves. He’s actually one of the good guys in that Hollywood shit hole. I can’t stand actors with their fake bullshit and try and tell us how to live all while being rapist and pedophiles and basically scum of the earth. However Reeves is one of the good ones man.

  • Rick Stone February 4, 2019, 8:11 am

No, I wouldn’t take that gun for free.

  • Greg February 4, 2019, 8:09 am

Awesome firearm. Wish I had the money to add it too my collection. Seen all the John Wick movies. Will see #3 too.

  • Tony February 4, 2019, 6:24 am

Those sights are great on an STI Eagle or Edge but have no place on ANY combat sidearm.
Its should roll out with adjustable Novaks

    • AJ February 4, 2019, 10:11 am

I noticed that as well. “Range” master would’ve been more appropriate.

  • davud February 4, 2019, 2:45 am

    another 1911. woopdy-effin-do.
