The K6s Revolver has been a major hit for Kimber.
Kimber announced this week that it has finalized plans to expand manufacturing operations to Alabama.
The new facility will begin operations in 2019 in the city of Troy.
“Due to an unprecedented year-over-year growth in demand, every time the company has embarked upon a planned expansion, the newly created capacity is exhausted before the expansion is complete,” said James Cox, Kimber’s chief financial officer.
“As we continue to move into uncharted waters in regards to Kimber product demand, it was important to us to build a facility that will allow us to secure a significant new plateau of capacity,” he continued.
This new Troy facility will double Kimber’s manufacturing capabilities. The New York-based company also has a plant in Montana.

I bet the plant will be built for ease of expansion to be able to move all to Alabama to escape Cuomo and DaBlasio in time.
The new plant in Troy will incorporate up-to-date CNC tooling and be as automated as is possible. Kimber finally moving out of firearm-hostile, Soros-affiliated NY State and relocating to the Deep South should not be a surprise.
Think this might have anything at all to do with the extortion through tax policy of NY state?
I hope moving to Alabama does not adversely affect Kimber’s quality the way it did for Remington.
That’s unfair. The wheels were falling off of Big Green long before they started production in Alabama. It really started when that which is now called the “Freedom Group” bought them out in 1999. It is difficult to think of a more passively menacing Orwellian name for a company. And the Alabama produced guns I have seen thus far are better made than the Ilion, NY production.
Maybe the price of the revolvers could come down . They are way too expensive .
I worked for Remington for over 2&1/2 years at the Alabama plant in a variety of positions. It is one of the most poorly managed companies I’ve ever seen. Freedom Group is a huge part of their problem, but the entire management team is riddled with incompetent, self-serving people. Quality is all but non-existent, and the majority of the good employees that they originally attracted, both hourly and salaried, have given up on them and moved on. It’s a shame that they can’t get their act together. I left a few weeks ago to take a lower paying job, just to get out of their toxic work environment.
