Pro-Gun Lawsuits Save a Life in Fatal Self-Defense Shooting (VIDEO)

Authors Defensive Use of Firearms Jordan Michaels This Week

A self-defense incident in Chicago this week could have ended in tragedy if not for two lawsuits that forced the city and Illinois legislature to allow for the possession and carrying of handguns, according to the organization that brought the lawsuits.

“Our legal actions have always been about putting law-abiding citizens on an equal footing against violent criminals,” said Second Amendment Foundation founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “We eliminated Chicago’s handgun ban with our 2010 Supreme Court victory in the McDonald case, and then forced Illinois lawmakers to allow citizens to legally carry with our Moore v. Madigan lawsuit.”

Local Chicago media reported yesterday that a 25-year-old woman shot and killed a man who had attempted to rob her at gunpoint outside a bus stop. The investigation is still ongoing, but authorities have said that the woman had a valid concealed carry license.

Surveillance footage shows the victim standing at the bus stop on her way to work. Investigators said 19-year-old LaAvion Goings approached the woman, pulled out a gun, and announced a robbery.

Goings knocked the woman to the ground in the course of the struggle, but the woman managed to pull out her firearm and shoot him in the neck. The man was still able to run away, but police apprehended him farther down the street. He died at the hospital later that day.

Police say Goings had a violent history. Last summer, he allegedly attacked a sergeant and officer during a drug raid.

Neighbors told reporters that the area in which the incident took place can be dangerous and that many women carry firearms to protect themselves.

“He got what he deserved. He ran up on the wrong person,” area resident Shonta Hodges told local media. “She did what she had to do.”

Gottlieb noted that while gun-control advocates studiously record incidents that promote their agenda, they are strangely silent on events like this one in Chicago.

“Not surprisingly,” Gottlieb said, “the gun control crowd invariably loses its voice when a bad guy is shot while committing a crime. Groups such as Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action scream loudly when they push restrictive gun laws to disarm honest citizens, but when an intended victim is able to win in a deadly confrontation, they quickly stick their heads in the sand and pretend nothing happened.

“Their silence,” he continued, “is not only deafening, it is deadly. Anyone who thinks a young woman should not be able to defend herself with a legally-carried handgun needs to readjust their moral compass.”

As the folks in the video stated, people carry guns for self protection and he got what he created.
Don’t rob folks and, you won’t get shot by those you try to wrong.
He committed suicide in this case.

Other non carry states should watch this video and pass carry permits to their law abiding citizens. We would have a safer country to live in.

I wonder which hurt more, getting the neck tattoo or the hot lead perforation?

She stopped this predator from victimizing her and countless future potential victims he would have attacked for weeks- months- years to come. Being a helpless victim in the face of evil is enabling evil to continue to violate all future victims.

One has to wonder how many people have been hurt by this turd of a person before he finally met his demise. I have heard statistics that indicate a “typical” felony crime resulting in arrest and conviction was preceded by a minimum of 30-50 combined misdemeanor and felony crimes prior to the conviction. While I think that is a low range, it certainly gives meaning to the comment, “He got what he deserved”, as expressed by a neighborhood resident.

Fascinating! I’m just thinking out loud here folks, but I’m wondering if he previously had a death premonition? If you notice in his beautiful mug shot – one that I’m sure his mother is proud of – little Johnny did this young lady a favor by having a nice target tattooed right below his Adam’s-apple, presenting her with an EXCELLENT aiming point.

So she shot him in the neck? That tells me this young lady has been following recommendations from other 2nd amendment fans to PRACTICE – PRACTICE – PRACTICE.

So thank you young lady, for helping keep the gene pool clean. And a special thanks to you lil’ johnny … for having that premonition!

At least the author Mr. Michael’s got it right, stating the facts. In Illinois you must acquire a F.O.I.D. (Firearm Operator’s Identification) Card first and foremost from the IL. State Police to purchase a firearm and ammunition, then you must obtain a C.C.L. (Concealed Carry License) to conceal and carry a firearm in public in the State of Illinois. The video from ABC News Chicago reporter John Garcia proves to me that the content was edited never showing the complete content, along with using the incorrect terminology for Concealed Carry License, stating it as a permit which it is not. News outlets need to do their homework to improve accuracy in their reporting, otherwise it is nothing more than Fake News, in which they are extremely accurate at…

He attacked police last year, but was out and about to attack civilians a year later. Chicago politicians are far more interested in taking away guns from law abiding people than putting criminals in jail and protecting the innocent.

    • AJ January 18, 2019, 8:24 pm

Yes they are… I’m from Chicago. Let me put it this way… If I were to see someone getting their head cut off, and I intervened, I would be the one charged. Chicago’s laws are ass backwards. Which is actually weird considering how lenient the CCW laws are. The permit reqs are a bit much with recerts.. but it’s incredible how much the CCW actually protects (on paper) the legally armed citizen. Interestingly enough as well is every instructor I’ve spoke to lives by the “dead men tell no tales” motto. Partly because a would be robber/rapist/murderer can sue the shit out of you for harming them if they can breathe enough to plead a case.

  • joefoam January 18, 2019, 8:07 am

If this robber had a violent history, why was he loose on the street to continue that kind of activity? Why aren’t we locking up violent felons?

  • PeterC January 18, 2019, 6:56 am

LaAvion Goings…another tragic victim of Homemade Name Syndrome.

  • H. Spires January 18, 2019, 5:55 am

Good thing she was armed. Might have been her in the morgue instead. This is what criminals understand. Laws against carrying guns for protection are job security for criminals.

  • em January 18, 2019, 5:40 am

Such a contrast to cities in L.A. County where citizens believe that only L.E. should have guns. L.A. Sheriff will deny anyone a conceal carry permit except those who bribe them or who are ex LE or fire dept. To citizens guns are like poison where only certain people have them by default. And that would be L.E. and gangs. Poor citizens live with a strange cognitive dissonance. Guns are evil because they “kill” people, and they dislike and even disdain L.E. whom they think are the only group who should have guns. There’s a lot of distrust for L.E., yet they’re the only one’s who should have guns. Makes perfect sense. Meanwhile, citizens there rely on the government for everything, including their right to live or die. Socialism in action and supported by their taxes.

not only did this young lady protect herself, but she protected an unknowing amount of future victims from this scumbag. Thank you Ms. for your community service.

    • srsquidizen January 18, 2019, 7:32 am

Yeah citizens like her should be rewarded. They should receive tax relief in an amount that reflects taxpayer appreciation, for saving the state big bucks litigating and incarcerating that scumbag for many years.

      • Irish-7 January 18, 2019, 11:45 am

I concur completely! Perhaps 2nd Amendment advocates can establish a fund to reward those brave individuals that prove our points. There are millions of us. If we each pitched in a dollar or two, we could help those people that face legal scrutiny for defending themselves. I have insurance with the US Concealed Carry Association. However, not every armed citizen has that protection.
