Liam Neeson on U.S. Gun Ownership: ‘[Expletive] Disgrace’

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Movie star Liam Neeson is once again criticizing gun ownership in the U.S.

While talking to Gulfnews.com in an effort to promote the release of “Taken 3” (see trailer below) the actor addressed the terrorist attacks in Paris while bashing Americans for their love of the Second Amendment.

“First off, my thoughts and prayers and my heart are with the deceased, and certainly with all of France, yesterday. I’ve got a lot of dear friends in Paris,” said the 62-year-old.

“There’s too many [expletive] guns out there,” he went on. “Especially in America. I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it’s a [expletive] disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’”

Neeson rejected the ideas that the action roles he plays in movies glorifies violence or encourages individuals to buy firearms.

“I grew up watching cowboy movies, loved doing that [gun gesture] with my fingers, ‘Bang, bang, you’re dead!’ I didn’t end up a killer. I think that’s something the power of cinema can be,” he said.

“A character like Bryan Mills going out with guns and taking revenge: it’s fantasy. It’s in the movies, you know? I think it can give people a great release from stresses in life and all the rest of it, you know what I mean? It doesn’t mean they’re all going to go out and go, ‘Yeah, let’s get a gun!’,” he explained.

This pussy makes a living using guns but he hates them. Without using guns he probably be collecting garbage.

  • Tom May 26, 2017, 11:01 pm

Liam hit it on the head. He grew up playing cowboys and idians and watching westerns, war flicks etc and he doesn’t kill people. Well neither do 99.99% of the 320 million Americans even with our 300 million guns. He has the nerve to pick up one role after another where he uses guns and then presumes to lecture us. Roger Moore too. Although Roger was more subtle. He made some great movies in which he used guns not just Bond movies. So it’s fine for actors receiving a big paycheck but deplorable for us, even though most of us will never use our guns to hurt anyone. The countries they come from disarmed their citizens so throughly that when Germans came knocking, the British had to ask us for firearms. Americans gave their firearms up with only a promise of attempting to return it later.

Do as I do, let him starve by not paying to see this clown’s movies, furthermore I don’t provide money to any of the anti gun states! No Colts, Smith and Wessons, no Henery rifles ect. untill they move like Beretta and Ruger did! This hurts because I truly want an SandW Victory badly but when buying an 22 last week, went with Ruger again! don’t even buy groceries from antigun states! If enough other people do this they may change there may be changes.

  • pf flyer May 26, 2017, 8:33 am

Why doesn’t he use just a fraction of all the money he made, “using guns” and put his money where his mouth is and help gun victims, stop criminals using guns, etc….

  • Somerset Frisby May 26, 2017, 8:31 am

I know another (expletive deleted) disgrace. That this goon, Neeson, is called as an actor. Of course this foolish goofball would hate guns. He obviously desires the old days when the U.K. enslaved the world. Can’t do that to a country whose citizens are armed and that makes his blood boil. What a complete jerk.

  • Martin B July 3, 2015, 7:49 pm

I will be very charitable and suggest that perhaps Mr Neeson was trying to impart his vision for an America he would like to see, where criminals do not use guns, and nobody owns or carries guns because they would never use them, and they have fallen into disuse. We are a very long way from any such America. And he offers no suggestions as to how America as it is could get there. In other words, he sees guns as a symptom of larger ills, but doesn’t get beyond saying that he doesn’t like the symptom. He fails to name the disease. Which in reality is a winner takes it all, devil takes the hindmost, laissez faire capitalism with no regard for those who fall by the wayside or who need help to achieve success. A bullying culture where those who achieve success get to kick those who fail in the teeth. And a failed political system where money talks and people get no say.

But I suspect Mr Neeson gave no real thought to his utterances, that he was merely echoing some Hollweird producer’s pet hobbyhorse, with a view to ensure the supply of cash for his next brain dead action drama.

The simplest explanation is usually the right one.

mr. Neeson should know as a Catholic growing up in Northern Ireland that the IRA (irish republican army) fought the English Crown for irish independence and ultimately Irish Home Rule in Northern Ireland. In other words, the short of it,..the IRA , a rag tag civilian militia brought the British Parliament to the bargaining table after 50 years or so. Southern Protestant Ireland, if my history and memory serves me was pro- British thus Irish COuntrymen fought each other and died. With this political struggle in mind why wouldn’t Neeson understand the desire of our founding fathers to arm it’s citizenry? For Neeson to blab in a newspaper
from Dubai about his anti 2nd amendendment rights of Americans seals his fate with me not to mention his gun toting violent movies claiming watching a movie doesn’t incite violence. That’s like saying violent rap music keeps all people peaceful. Violence no matter what the medium does incite people to violence but only a small percentage. It begs to ask if there is a larger issue on hand and in my opinion it is lack of: family values, religion and a sense of entitlement by a few bad apples that cause
the general law abiding public to suffer the well intentioned, but misguided views of Neeson and people like him.

      • BluNos March 4, 2017, 11:34 am

Where to begin…First you have it back asswards. The Republic of Ireland (southern) gained its independence from Great Britain after the Irish Civil War in 1922. Your “so called” rag tag Irish Republican Army was made up of World War I veterans, and were a very organized force. However, Northern Ireland remained a part of great Britain. The Republic is more than 84% Roman Catholic. Northern Ireland is 42% Protestant, 41% Roman Catholic, and the rest none or other. I think what you are referring to is what occurred in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s known as “The Troubles”. The Catholic minority wanted Northern Ireland to leave Great Britain and join the Republic of Ireland. The group of guerrilla fighters called themselves the IRA, but were a loosely organized terrorist group that ambushed British soldiers and set off bombs in highly populated Protestant areas. The Belfast Agreement was signed in 1998 putting an end to most hostilities. As part of that treaty Northern Ireland would remain a part of Great Britain until a majority referendum vote could pass to join the south. That has yet to happen.

Everyone’s entitled to speak his or her opinion, that’s what our country is all about, however Mr. Neeson shows the typical Hollywood hypocrisy by denouncing our Second Amendment rights yet casually defending his First Amendment rights (And profiting from it.) to make violent movies and stating he watched “violent” films as a kid and said,”I” never killed anyone.” Mentioning just himself is self-centered enough so allow me to follow his lead; “I” grew up hunting and shooting, Mr. Neeson. “I” never killed anyone either.
Unlike your country, it’s “my” right to defend myself. But then, most of the “anti-gun elite” live in protected/gated communities or buildings. (Most have their own armed security officers.) And in the event, Mr. Neeson lives in an unprotected community, I would be willing to bet the local law enforcement would arrive at his home in an emergency way before they’d get to mine.
I was never a big Liam Nesson fan and now I will refuse to watch his movies. Not because of his opinion, we are all free to express them, but because he is a hypocrite.
Without the Second Amendment, there wouldn’t be a First Amendment.

  • D carp January 20, 2015, 1:07 pm

Where I see the problem is the bad guys will always have access to guns. The ones that enjoy collecting and shooting and maintaining safety is the ones who suffer. They’re the ones who get their guns taken away and/or strict restrictions put on them when it comes to guns. No matter how many guns you take from us, the bad guys will always have them. Do you think they go in a store and purchase them? No, they buy them from someone selling them from the trunk of a car!

It never seizes to amaze me how these liberal actors, especially the ones from other countries try to push their agendas on the legal citizens of the USA. Mr. Neesom or what ever his name is has made millions staring in the bloody shootem up movies he’s been in….he’s nothing but a hypocrite…. Go back to Ireland neesom and stop trying to enforce your liberal agendas in the USA…. Take Obama, holder, Al Sharpton, biden, peloci, and Jesse with you.

  • David Stadler January 19, 2015, 6:05 pm

Real Hollywood hypocrite making a mint from his 3 “Taken” movies filled with gun violence. The gun violence in the US and abroad is not committed by legal gun owners. It has, in fact, been demonstrated that crime goes down when citizens are armed and criminals put at risk. I also believe that the legally armed US populace is helping to prevent the terrorist street violence we are seeing in Europe.
If we truly want to stop ghd gun violence in this country, we need to get the illegal guns out of the criminals and gangs commuting armed robberies, home invasions, car jackings, gang wars, and drug wars. We need to untie the hands of police and allow ghdm to stop and search and get these illegal guns off the street.

Dec 27, 2014 – He may have been named after the local priest in his Irish hometown but Liam Neeson could be leaving his Roman Catholic beliefs behind.
The actor is said to be considering converting to Islam following a working trip to Istanbul.
According to The Sun, Neeson admitted that Islamic prayer ‘got into his spirit’ while he was filming in Turkey.

What people do not understand is yeah I have a lot of guns in safes but they are old military near antiques and I enjoy shooting each one. It is a way to feel the history. One day I will shoot the Russians, on another weekend the US etc. If there is something perverted there point it out to me. I am fed up with judgmental people that refuse to understand. It (gun culture) has so many facets to judge all as maniacs is juvenile. At the range one day not to long ago a family next to me took turns emptying magazines through there assault rifle. Misguided they were but dangerous no, they couldn’t hit shit!

Liam Neeson has made three exciting movies in the Taken series. And, Shindlers List was a brilliant idea brought to life through him. Even he would agree that, Hitler disarming the Jews, led to humanity collapsing under the SS subsequent slaughtering.
If you wrap yourself in the second amendment, you must acknowledge the first granting freedom of speech.

Guns are always confiscated by governments, using harmless sounding reasons, before citizens lose freedom, without any historical example of oppressive rule. Be pro constitution, rather than ever, just embracing your favorite right. Same goes for gun control zombies.

There are even more cars than there are guns here also. Do you know how many got killed by drunk drivers? A lot more than people shot. I guess he wants us all to turn those in too. I noticed there’s never a mass shooting in a gunshop where every employee is armed. I dont feel safer anywhere than in a gunshop. What these loudmouths dont get is that we who have dozens of guns for decades are not causing any crime. The gun just sits in a safe for 300+ days a year and collects dust or gets practiced with or used to hunt. Whats the crime in that.

  • Kevin January 19, 2015, 1:02 pm

I too have liked the “acting” of Mr. Neeson. As well as many others in the entertainment industry. I would only add here to this thread of comments is: do you your due diligence when giving money to any company, industry or individual if this or any other important belief you have is to drive where that money goes. There are many underlying positions that might surprise you with others. If your money is to be your power, research who you are or will give it to. I have been surprised in my findings and it has position me to spend my money more wisely with those that either personally believe as I do or spend “their” money on beliefs we mutually agree on.

  • Todd January 19, 2015, 11:59 am

Take Liam’s comments seriously. This is the common attitude of foreigner actors who speak of our rights as Americans. In fact, why should we care what a foreigner thinks of our liberties? These are rights they could not fathom for themselves because they did not fight for their own freedom, but will critique our way of life? The gun provides for our future, was bestowed to us by our founding fathers, was wrote into our constitution as a requirement of our freedom.

Let’s be frank, it wasn’t by luck that the right to bear arms was the 2nd ammenent. It was a critical element to the endurance of our free state and was made the 2nd Ammendment purposely! It pains me to see actors paint the pages of liberal media with such hypocrisy as the gun is merely an instrument of cinematic empowerment to them. The catalyst of success on screen but an item of shame off camera. I would doubt any of these actors would care to arm themselves with a fencing épée or cricket bat to subdue their nemesis on screen. Why? Well, it just doesn’t appeal to the cash paying customer. In fact, the entire world is ensnared with the fascination of firearms but doesn’t have a clue as to what it is like to form a free nation around its use.

Mr Neelson, at the very least, you offend approximately 50% of your fan base. You committed career suicide and signifies that you are no longer a person to whom we enjoy pretending to be someone else on screen. Remember this! We only watch you becuase you entertain us, not mold our minds and educate us on how we should conduct our personal or political inclinations. Go back to Ireland and sell out the local repertory show amongst your own Brethern who share your beliefs. We will continue to love, honor and support those to whom we share our affinity of true freedom and liberty with. Be a subject of your nation, I will continue to be a citizen of the greatest god damn document of the ages, the United States Constitution!

These phony people with their security brigades..let me guess, none of them allow their bodyguards to carry. To make movies with all that violence and think everyone is going to sit there and think..”It’s only fantasy” how foolish. In denial all the way to the bank and the Red Carpet. I wonder why the carpet is red? I felt sorry for him when he lost his wife, but now will view him differently due to his comments, or what he allowed his press people to put out. Stay in Paris. And the people of the U.S.A. say “You’re welcome” for all the greenbacks/dollars we have put in your pockets.

  • Larry January 19, 2015, 10:29 am

To be honest, I thought that Liam Neeson would have been a gun advocate given what I have seen of him on talk shows whereby he seems intelligent and well grounded. This goes to show that just about all the LibTards in Hollywood need to be ignored when it comes to any real world issues. They live in some drug infected swamp of liberal day dreams and must really believe that if something is in the movies, it is real and that because they are in the movies, they are special people who should be heard and believed! I thing our current president is a wanabee actor/basketball player. He lives in that same dream world whereby if he says it, it must be so. We as a nation need to wake up and fight this demented segment of our society tooth and nail. If we do not, we will soon collapse as a nation and as a way of life. I am done watching or supporting any movie in which this two faced idiot is featured.

  • SMD January 19, 2015, 10:26 am

Mr Neesom, We always go to your movies, they are good entertainment, but we won’t see another one. You have made a lot of money off of the American people and then you bad mouth us! The reason Japan did not attach the USA during World War II is because the big guy knew every house hold had guns and he said so. As said in other feedback, if you take our guns away only the criminals will have them. Don’t care what kind of laws you make against them the criminals will still get them any time they want and we will be left with no way to defend ourselves and family!!!

  • Ras DeBol January 19, 2015, 8:48 am

Typical UK/Brit attitude. Much like Piers Morgan on TV. These folks lack perspective. The USA would still be “Her Majesty’s Colonies of the Americas” if not for the gun. Unlike India, Singapore. Malaysia and other British colonies the American colonies were different, we had guns. We declared our independence from foreign rule and used those guns, at the cost of many lives, to acquire that independence. The USA was born of the gun and will always have an innate connection to the freedom to own guns. The 2nd amendment was never just about guns to hunt with. The authors had just fought their way from under the yoke of foreign domination and wanted to assure our ability to self-defend. The world may criticize our gun freedom but any potential invader knows (as a Japanese general once said) they will find armed resistance ‘behind every tree”. Sorry Liam.

      Exactly!

There are so many anti gun people who “think” they are making the world better…. ok then, since car accidents kill over 1000x as many people a year as guns, let’s start with banning cars!! “Oh no, we can’t do that!” Then shut up about guns because you are clearly NOT serious about saving lives!!!

  • Toozman January 15, 2015, 9:09 pm

Liam Neeson is the typical big mouth actor. Since he is a famous movie star and people are always asking him questions he has become deluded into thinking he has the answers. He makes a living off action pictures. There are alot of gunshots and bombs going off. He thinks that in real life people who own guns behave like he does in movies. The fact is I am 60 years old and have been around guns all of my life. Most of my friends are gun owners. The fact is not one of my friends in those 60 years has ever committed a crime or harmed someone intentionaly or unintentionaly with a firearm. The facts about gun ownership in the U.S. is most gun owners in the U.S. are law abiding citizens. The tiny percentage that committ crimes are either criminals or the insane. Guess who turned the crazy loose on the streets? The liberals who wanted to make sure the mentaly ill had their rights protected. The ACLU had a huge hand in that. EVERY mass shooting we have had in the last decade was done by someone who was severly mentally ill. So people like Liam Neeson want to take away law abiding citizens firearms so crazies and criminals will not use guns in crimes. Make sense??? All I can say is if you are a gun owner and not an NRA member you should really think about joining. If you think the NRA is too political then think about where the laws are made. The only reason we still have the second amendment is because of the NRA.

Although my namesake and distant relative Michael Collins was killed by guns in the uprising of 1916 in Ireland, and Liem Neeson played his part in the movie, he no doubt made a lot of money on. I’m first generation Irish. and a Gun advocate. At this point I think Mr. Neeson should go back across the pond and see for himself the shootings in Ireland and England, and they have a no gun policy. WHEN GUNS ARE OUTLAWED ONLY OUTLAWS WILL HAVE GUNS.

Neeson is a puss, he talks tough, yet when faced with returning to Ireland unarmed he would cry like a teenaged girl.

I’m all done watching his movies. If he thinks we don’t have a right to protect ourselves with guns, let him stay the hell out of the US. If guns are taken from all law abiding people then only criminals will have guns. I know, its been said a millions times before, but ITS TRUE.

    • smoke January 19, 2015, 9:42 am

Guns as re illegal in England. Go back there and don’t come back!

    • Jose Acosta January 19, 2015, 4:08 pm

“…protect ourselves with guns…” ??? Try googling “Gun Related deaths in the USA and England”
10 deaths/100,000 residents in the USA
      0.25 deaths/100,000 in the UK

      • Gefauhr January 19, 2015, 6:40 pm

The issue you misrepresent with that statistic has nothing to do with legal gun ownership. The United States has 6.25 times the population. It has many times the large urban areas centers where crime and gangs are prevalent. The crime in London represents the majority of the crime in the kingdom. The UK does not have thousands of miles of unguarded border where gangs rule and illegal guns can be transported via land. Yet, they, in a country where private ownership of handguns are banned, still have murders and robberies with these weapons. Can you ask yourself, why is that? Would the answer be that gun laws do not create the intended effect of prevent the criminal from using a gun while committing a crime?
