If you carry or own a gun, you have a responsibility to make sure that that gun doesn’t fall into the hands of someone who should not have it. If you’re a normal human being, there are times when your gun may not be on your person (I have given up completely on showering with my gun–just can’t find a good place to put it). You should have a plan for such occasions (not showers, but safe storage).

At SHOT Show 2016, when I saw the unique display of handgun vaults from Liberty Safes, I realized that they had covered just about every occasion and convenience necessary to store my handgun.

Handgun Vaults

Liberty Safe’s line starts out with a keyed handgun vault for under $50 that’s ideally suited for those occasions when you have to leave your gun in your vehicle because you’ll be entering a gun-free zone (e.g. school, government building, stadium, etc.). The next step moves you to a push button lock versus a keyed lock. Then the safes begin to get larger for home storage options, the addition of internal lighting makes these options great for a bedside storage.

Something exciting from Liberty is there biometric smart vaults. They have two of these models–a small one (great for your vehicle) and a larger home version. The home version, when plugged into its 110 V power supply, allows you to access your gun in under one second via your fingerprints. If you don’t have it plugged into power and it’s running off a 9v battery, the time goes to 1.63 seconds. You have the choice of up to 15 fingerprints that can access the vault. There is also a key override on all of their handgun vaults that allow you to retrieve the contents even if there is a battery failure.

All of the liberty handgun vaults are available now.

  • HD – 90 key vault $49
  • HD – 100 quick vault $109

  • HD – 300 quick vault $169
