I completely agree with the mac show and everyone who has left a comment. We really need to force feed these people the anti-gunners the truth , and no we can not rely on most media outlets. Other than fox news most of the media tries to distort the truth by editing its segments here and there, if you can recall after sandy hook I could be wrong but I believe it was cnbc that edited out most of the court sessions that they filmed just so the truth wouldn’t get out. Thankfully People like Sean Hannity were quick to set the record strait and give the people the honest truth. Every gun guy or girl knows that up close most ammo will penetrate a soft vest, but what law abiding citizen is going to use there rifle or dumb rifle caliber pistol to shoot law enforcement anyway. Maybe just maybe the President and his goon squad should start sweeping the crime ridden neighborhoods for once to get rid of all of the illegal weapons that are used to hurt the good people and good law enforcement officers . Look there are always going to be people who are good and there will always be bad people. Its up to us to educate the people who don’t have the same understanding as us when it comes to ammo and guns. if we don’t work together its the beginning of the end of what we love as we know it. OH YA Obama it’s time for you to start telling truth too( Fort hood, Bengahzi, ISIS, Boston marathon all acts of radical Islam ) Terrorists so I hate to brake it to you buddy, If it looks like shit and smells like shit, chances are that its Shit. And yes Obama you do hate America if your willing to trade 5 terrorists for a deserter. America is exceptional because we are strong minded and passionate about our beliefs DON’T ruin it for our country and don’t ruin it for the world…

I like MAC and go to his videos often for concise and credible gun reviews.
We think alike, and he’s expressing my exact views on this 5.56 ban issue.
    I recommend you subscribe.

Here’s the script the BATFE is working from: ALL THE WAY DOWN THE SLIPPERY SLOPE: GUN PROHIBITION IN ENGLAND AND SOME LESSONS FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES IN AMERICA by Joseph E. Olson and David B. Kopel.

I’ve been calling my pistol “my PDI” (Personal Defense Item) when discussing my rights with left-wingers. They’re so confused, it’s a riot. It takes a while for their little brains to run through all the acronyms they have stored inside to figure out what I’m talking about before they realize they have another one to deal with.

Plus, PDI has a nice ring to it, is all-encompassing, far from anything with “assault” in it, and is easy to remember.

      Let’s take away the ( I ) and call them PD’s = Protection Devices

One comment I would like to make is that we no longer allow the anti-gunners to label our weapons .I do not own “assault weapons” ,I own defense weapons .Our community as a whole need to get control of our own label and not allow those who hate the Constitution to label us.

From a historical and engineering perspective, there was NEVER such a thing as an “assault weapon.” There are assault rifles (automatic capable) and modern sporting rifles (semi-auto), and we need to shame the anti-gun crowd every time we hear them use incorrect terminology. Expose their ignorance and weaken their arguments.

      Me too Chief!
      I own “Defenders”

If Government outlaws M855 ammo, only The Government will have M855 ammo.
    think about it. .

Our FIRST challenge is to get the media to spread the truth. Education is our best tool! That includes people learning to NOT open carry an AR-15 to the grocery store. Forcing firearms on uneducated people is NOT the way to educate people cause all they see is a tyrant. We NEED to be honest with everyone and demand that our politicians be educated in the arguments. Listening to a suit spout off with made up stats and spread misinformation is one challenge that we as gun owners must win! Be polite and informed. Have facts to back up a discussion… keep your cool and do not let the emotional jabber of fools rattle you. We as a unified group can move mountains if we focus.

Media speak the truth? That will be the day. They need to spread lies and embelish guns with mythical power to sell their stories and movies. After all, we know how insignificant the effect of most ammo is, but when you watch anything the media touches anything past a spit ball will throw you 50 feet through a brick wall while leveling a whole city block with just one magazine. Never mind that the magazine was low capacity, in the media it hold and infinite amount of rounds. We all know the media is wholly owned by political block whose agenda they spew forth like so much sewage. I agree with keeping cool but I really doubt we will see any truthful education of the people by the media while sensationalism sells and Bloomberg and his friends have billions to spend spreading lies. In the mean time, buy it as cheap as you can, and stack it as high as it will go. That way the people will still be able to exercise their right.

My understanding is that the so-called “green tip” xm855 (ss109) was developed to provide a more stable round for the SAW which had some stability issues when firing auto (hot barrel) at long range. This xm855 ammo did what it was supposed to do, fix the issue by providing a more stable round. As far as this xm855 being “armor piercing”, your statement is correct, it can and will go through police type SOFT anti-penetration shell vests at close range. Oh, by the way, would someone like to demonstrate another bullet of the same caliber the won’t? (The M955 is the actual armor piercing ammunition for 5.56 mm caliber rifles: 5.56x45mm 52-grain AP with a tungsten core and black tip. This Armor Piercing round that was made for AP purposes is not to be used for any test!) As a matter of fact, almost every centerfire medium-large bore rifle cartridge will penetrate the type of vest mentioned above when used under the same conditions. So does that mean we should stand by and remove EVERY rifle cartridge made! WRONG!!! The gov’t needs to get it’s facts straight and put a muzzle on the ATF to do the right thing. One more thing, our insistence in having a “pistol type weapon” that uses rifle cartridges is screwing us all over. Wise up. This is the driving factor in the ATF and Obama trying to get rid of 5.56 ammo to begin with. They won’t take on the NRA head on, so they simply eliminate the required ammo. What a revelation. Wise up America! The ATF has had the enforcement ability to carry this out for a long time. The gentlemen that made this video stated very clearly that it is not over yet. We all should know the gov’t by now. If they want to do something, they will! And they do not give a crap who does not like it! Do I really need to say anything else?

Very good point about rifle-round-capable pistols. While I fully support weapons development, I’ve never understood the need for an AR-pistol or .308-pistol, and I agree with you that we’ve stumbled into the ATF’s “hornet nest” of regulation, giving them the proverbial “foot in the door” that they’ve been looking for on ARs.

the m955 is actually a replacement for the m855. It, larger grain, and no lead which makes much better for training. (Lead can actually be a problem on heavily used ranges).

        • BloodyBucket28 March 23, 2015, 7:59 pm

M995 is black tip AP. No lead, just a harden Tungsten core. Mass is 54grs. The M855A1 is the new “Lead Free” ball ammo, I haven’t heard much good about it (see data from the new carbine testing, seems they had lots of problems with it).
