The Denver police have seized firearms from a Colorado man who made threats against the state’s attorney general, but the AG has decided not to press charges.

Law enforcement used Colorado’s new “red flag” law to take the man’s firearms, and he is prohibited from possessing guns for the next year.

Bryce Shelby, 28, came onto the FBI’s radar after he hatched a plot with an undercover agent to kill Attorney General Phil Weiser. The self-professed Black Panther planned to shoot Weiser in the head and made multiple trips to the AG’s home.

If Weiser’s assassination did not achieve Shelby’s political goals, he planned to kill other politicians, including Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, as well as the chiefs of police of Denver and Aurora, according to local media.

Shelby stated that he did not care if Weiser’s wife, dog, or child(ren) had to die in the process. He planned how to obtain a getaway vehicle, and said he wanted to track when Weiser travels from his house to work.

“The Respondent has said he will ‘pull the trigger’ himself and does not mind getting ‘blood on his hands,’” the FBI wrote of Shelby, according to the Associated Press.

But after learning of the FBI’s investigation, Weiser decided not to press charges against Shelby. Instead, the Denver police asked a judge for a “red flag” order that allowed them to seize Shelby’s weapons, which they are confirmed to have done.

“This past summer, various law enforcement agencies identified a serious threat to the Attorney General and other public officials. After they conducted an investigation, the Attorney General decided not to press for charges,” Lawrence Pacheco, director of communications for the Attorney General’s Office, said.

“Those law enforcement agencies sought and received an extreme risk protection order against the individual who posed the threat,” he continued. “Given the risk, the Attorney General believes that was the appropriate response.”

Weiser refused to explain his decision, according to the AP. It’s unclear why allowing Shelby to remain free and without proper psychological attention constitutes an “appropriate response,” given the nature of his threats and the steps he took towards acting them out.

Presumably, Shelby will still have access to any number of deadly weapons he might use to kill Weiser, his family, and other elected officials.

It’s also unclear why Denver police didn’t resort to Colorado’s civil commitment laws, which allow law enforcement to detain someone who appears to be mentally ill and presents an immediate danger to themselves or others and provides them with psychiatric care.

so…can’t LEGALLY possess guns for the next year…we know how well that works for protection orders
and what about every other weapon out there? no problem?
and will he get his gun(s) back in a year? will they be in the same shape as when they were taken?

Grab the guns but don’t arrest and file charges for the murder plot! Guns BAD, criminal free to continue plotting or taking action with only minor inconvenience. Typical democratic but he will surely use this event to push harsher gun control restrictions and bans. This guy was planning and threatening a specific murder and wouldn’t hesitate causing collateral death/injury and he can ak for his guns back in 12 months. NEVER punish the criminals only punish the innocent law abiding gun owners.

Under Biden and Beto, Bryce Shelby and everyone else would have to pass an in depth “psychological evaluation” before even filling out an “ATF Form 4473.”

Of course Beto admitted that he owns firearm that he inherited from an uncle and what he did NOT explain is why it is OK for him to have avoided a background check? After all, Beto has written about gruesome fantasies of running children over with a car.

    Background check for Beto?

“The reason this is news, is that they are violating his Constitutional rights and at the same time saying that he didn’t actually commit a crime.”

You are correct. He was probably some random guy they knew the could pin this on who couldn’t afford an attorney and wouldn’t push it. This allowed them to create another “crime” so they can say to the sheeple out there, “look how our red flag law saved everyone”.

Judging by the retarded comments, the false flag operation is working perfectly like they knew it would. Just another example of how pathetic American citizen-subjects have become in their ability to throw away their constitutional rights and protections. They want us to give up all of our rights and just be told what to do. Unfortunately the vast majority are doing exactly that.

COVID has been a great example. Wake the hell up people. Stop believing everything you are spoon fed from the state run media and use your brain if you still have two cells in it. Gov’t officials and judges from local to the highest office are violating the constitution and their own state constitutions to force whatever they want on the population and have been for decades now. Learn to see through this type of thing for what it really is.

Why didn’t the AG press charges? Because he didn’t think anybody would find out and is hoping that this numbskull goes on a killing spree in the next couple years.

Trying to legitamize RED FLAG LAWS. LOL

Why is this news? This is a measured, cool response by a law enforcement official using the legal tools at his disposal to thwart a domestic terrorist, especially when that same law enforcement official was the target of that same domestic terrorist’s plot. It is better than the blood of another young man of colour spilled on the streets of another American city! I say well done, Phil Weiser of Colorado, and applaud the red flag law that he used to disarm this person of colour before blood was spilled.

Before blood was spilled is right. It’ll be spilled later, but it’s not being spilled right now. When it is, I’m sure you’ll be crying about how “the system failed him” and how he would have been provided a psych evaluation it he’d been white. But that’s your choice.
