An elementary school principal in Missouri has been placed on paid leave after responding to a David Hogg tweet with images of himself and his children shooting firearms, according to local media.

Dr. Chad Searcey, the principal at Compass Elementary School in Platte City, Mo., was responding to a Twitter post by Parkland activist David Hogg, who was encouraging his followers to support funding for gun violence research.

“Gun violence is the second leading cause of death for the young people in the United States, yet basically gets no research funding from the federal government at all whatsoever,” Hogg says in the accompanying video. “We have a chance to fund it currently in this Congress with this Senate and give $50 million to the CDC and NIH.”

Searcey replied with three images of himself and his children holding and shooting firearms. Searcey is pictured with an AR-15, and his children are shooting .22 caliber handguns. The text simply says, “#Merica.”

Local media reports that Searcey apologized on Twitter for his post, but the school decided to suspend him anyway. The district released a statement promising to “address the situation immediately”:

The District learned of the tweet today and immediately placed the employee on paid, administrative leave while we investigate the situation. We understand why the public response has been strong with regard to student safety in our nation’s schools. We intend to address the situation immediately and in a manner consistent with our Board of Education policies, as well as our goal of ensuring a safe and caring environment for our students, staff, and community.

Hogg also responded on Twitter, implying that Searcey doesn’t care about kids who are shot at school.

Cool guns, you know what’s more cool? Mom’s and dads getting to see their kids graduate high school alive. Kids not having to step over bloodstained sidewalks on their way to school. Parents not coming home to find their child with a self inflicted gun shot wound.

The reaction from parents of children who attend Searcey’s school have been mixed.

Rachel Casaos told local media that “some things are unfortunate” but “he’s an amazing principal who’s very compassionate and kind. I think he should be forgiven.”

Others weren’t so sure Searcey should be allowed to return to work.

“I mean, he has the right to have guns and go shoot them with his family. But to post something like that on a serious subject like that is very insensitive,” Melanie Lillard said. “I don’t know if he should come back or not.”

Searcey has since deleted both the post and his entire Twitter account, but an old tweet saved by the Internet Archive indicates he is an avid outdoorsman and promotes youth hunting.

Searcey’s bio on the Platte County R-3 School District’s website indicates that he’s been with the district for 14 years. He describes himself and his interests on his private Instagram account as, “Leader; Military Supporter; Outdoorsman; #Huskers #KC #Royals fan; Continuous Learner and Proud American. Political View-Common Sense.”

Message to the Principle and any others who decide to post pictures with their kids shooting guns…
    STOP APOLOGIZING….
There is nothing to apologize for!!!
And it doesn’t matter they are going to vilify you anyways!!

I remember well when I was in high school and a member of the school sponsored rod and gun club. We were encouraged to bring our guns to school for the annual photo shoot for the year book. Of the members of the club, not one ever was in trouble with the law or a threat to society. Of course we, unlike the young people of today were raised by parents that cared about their children and what they were taught, instead of warehousing them in public indoctrination centers called public schools, and the whole community ostracized a kid for criminal behavior.

So when are we God fearing, Constitution believing, responsible Americans going to do something about this kind of madness? When are we going to take back our country, our rights? And how? Seems to me the time for a revolution is past. So how do we start it? Where? When if not now? Our forefathers would be ashamed of us.

  • bob onit April 1, 2020, 4:07 pm

Hogg is really an unmitigated twat,he keeps trying to ride the parkland altruistic glory wave ,but he wasn’t even at the school that day until way after it was over.hogg has pretty much been debunked as a lying hysterical punk ,but the idiots keep bringing back to flail around ,with their phoney talking points

  • John January 31, 2020, 8:30 am

…and we wonder what is happening to the quality of education in our country these days? It seems the MSM and far-left are increasingly pushing an agenda that ignores or destroys our constitutional and civil liberties. Far too many snowflakes and wannabe SJWs are using any imagined slight or “I’m uncomfortable” occurrence to trash First Amendment rights.

  • John S July 12, 2019, 7:58 am

They’re giving the guy a free paid vacation for exercising his 1st and 2nd amendment rights. Geeze… Wish someone would hurt me like that!

This is a quote from the story:
“The reaction from parents of children who attend Searcey’s school have been mixed.

Rachel Casaos told local media that “some things are unfortunate” but “he’s an amazing principal who’s very compassionate and kind. I think he should be forgiven.” ”

Forgiven for what? He did nothing wrong. Isn’t this STILL America where different opinions and viewpoints are allowed? I remember a time when diversity of thought was encouraged and celebrated. Nowadays, it’s all about “inclusiveness”, unless, of course, your opinion differs from the progressive agenda. Then you are a pariah. It’s time to take back America and stop allowing this kind behaviors towards the conservative mindset.

David Hogg is a child and anyone believing him is at the same level of intelligence. He is confused and seeking attention like a two year old boy. Adults should ignore any attempts at logic since his experience is at a child’s level.

Those who suspended committed a serious felony. Harassing a citizen in his private life and placing a personal attack on him is against both State ad Federal laws. What he does in his private life is no ones business if he don’t break any laws. Whoever suspended him really is a criminal ( breaks the law knowingly ) He should place charges against said perpetrators. He broke no laws by what he did. He should use his civil rights as a citizen to charge any criminal acts. By suspending him they became criminals and should be reported to the Missouri Attorney General. and prosecuted. That is the only way this kind of crimes can be stopped.

    • John January 31, 2020, 8:39 am

I would imagine there may be some kind of morals clause in his contract with the school system. That being said, I hope he sues the hell out of, and consequently wins a huge settlement against the school district!
(btw, I do not normally post online regarding anything… however, I have lately seen so much that I cannot simply remain silent on the sidelines any longer. Am hoping more normally silent individuals will begin to become involved in civic affairs.)

  • Kevin Baxter June 19, 2019, 2:21 pm

I hope that Mr. Searcey is made very rich by the settlement that he should win from the school district.
The only problem that I have is that he deleted the tweet and his account. Why? His posting was perfectly appropriate.

Mini Hitler hogg is pure cancer for America. I don’t foresee him ending well at all…

  • Deerhttr June 15, 2019, 10:26 am

I will be 73 years old in about a week. When I went to school there were NO school shootings. Everyone of my friends owned at least one gun. There was a graduation class of about 400 at the school I attended. Guns were never discussed. They were just not an issue. A person has to ask oneself what has changed. The guns sure haven’t changed. That leaves the students. Lack of religion maybe. Lack of parenting skills by the parents. Lack of discipline in the Childs life. Can’t bring race into the discussion. Most of the school shootings are by middle class white people. Most of the street shootings are by poor black people. Go figure. All I can figure is that it has something to do with society changing and poor parenting. Sad thing is I doubt very much if things are going to change. If anything they are going to get worse. People need to be looking at other things that are causing this change. The focus on guns is wasting valuable time that could be use to address other issues that are a problem. Society just doesn’t seem to “get it”. I don’t think many want to. It is so easy to blame guns. Then look the other way when it comes to other problems. Political correctness and ignorance is the name of the game in society these days. Common sense seems to no longer apply to dealing with much of anything. Obama had a perfect optunity to help the people in south Chicago. He could have built new school and recreation centers. He did nothing. The black folks in this country have nothing to thank Obama for. Nothing. A perfect example of people that should care not caring at all. I don’t see the necessary changes happing ever. As a society we are to far gone.

I sure hope and pray that this principal puts up a big fight. When they attack a constitutional believing leader from our part of the country it is time to set these communists coastal libtards straight. Where is the petition, I am ready to sign.

  • Bad Penguin June 15, 2019, 9:24 am

Actually Hoggwarts is full of the smelly stuff that comes out of a bulls butt. 1 is accidents 2 is suicide (all means) 3 is murder which the overwhelming number is composed of inner city black kids shooting each other with illegal guns. He’s just a little silly little boy that likes to play the victim and get attention. He also strikes me as being someone who aspires to be a hitler clone that will order others to kill people who disagree with him.

    • John January 31, 2020, 8:58 am

Yes, very silly. But unfortunately, still covered by the media!
But “kill”? Personally, I would imagine him to be more likely to send to send all who disagree with him to new-world government sponsored liberal work camps for re-education. Critical and/or informed logical thought are the far-left’s worst enemies. Thoughts? (no pun intended)

  • T Fart Trumplestix June 15, 2019, 7:30 am

Should any of you jackasses ever have to go out and work for a living (and stop doing opioids with your SSI checks), I’d suggest you recuse yourself from criticizing anyone and start looking in the mirror, reading a bible (any of them will do), and having someone explain the Constitution and Bill of Rights, since we got some MAGA numbnuts up in here! Also, fire that bitch. He’s a fuckup.

    • Need to know June 15, 2019, 10:35 pm

I have never commented on a website but your response has broken that rule. Your ignorance and blatant disregard for our President has changed that. Your comments are rude and stupid. You’re probably just a troll trying to get people to respond. Well you have.

I am very pro second amendment and I wish people would debate the aspects that the Modern Sporting Rifle brings. I had a conversation with someone at a party one time who was very anti AR15 (as they are not typical assault weapons) and by the end of the discussion (not an argument) the other person wanted me to take them out to shoot an AR15.

You not wanting anyone to “criticize” anyone is just like the left. Everyone should get a trophy and nobody should have a dissenting opinion. That is the true definition of fascism. Any opinion not your own or in lock step with yours is shouted down. Just like the women’s soccer team. People were saying they should have taken easy on the team from Thailand or let them score. That is what is wrong with this country.

I have read the bill of rights and it clearly states we (I) have the right to bear arms. If you are scared of firearms or don’t want to have one, please don’t infringe on my right to protect myself and my family. Like I told a neighbor of mine after I purchased a Golani Sporter; “when bread goes to $100 a loaf, I will come and take yours”. And just for the record, I am a LEO so throw that argument out of the window.

    • Mike V June 16, 2019, 10:01 pm

    • ES June 20, 2019, 10:10 am

Actually, working for a living for the past 50+ years, CCD classes and mass plus Catholic school (the horror ;), wife and i both served and the wore the uniform (Alpha Squadron, first to be deployed to war zone), and finally, KNOW the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The young man has the right to express himself (1st Amendment) as do we in our replies. The gentleman with his sons has the right to pursue the above hobby and SHOULD be able posts pics without fear of his work suspending or terminating his employment. What one does on their personal time SHOULD be none of a work center business, unless he/they are injuring someone or themselves (self-inflicted). Even you have the right to express yourself without fear of reprisals from your work center (if you’re employed.) I’ve been shooting since i was eight years old when my dad bought my first 22 rifle (single-shot) for my birthday. He also is a WWII vet, Navy (underwater demolition) and has been shooting well into his eighties.

      • John January 31, 2020, 9:16 am

Oh, but haven’t you heard? In today’s world:

Words that result and someone feeling icky = hate-speech = a violent act = a crime!

I fear George Orwell may have been a prophet, and not just an author of fiction. Next will be schools/colleges handing out questionnaires designed to determine student’s and parent’s patterns of thinking which may lead to that person saying anyting that may potentially cause another to feel uncomfortable. Sadly, this subject has already been broached on some college campuses during public presentations and can be viewed online.

    • David Scott Graves June 24, 2019, 4:22 am

So T Fart Trumplestix, What other legal laws do you object to? Would you say that maybe we shouldn’t pee in the oceans. because you might swim in somebody else pee? Where do we stop the “We should stop because I want you to.” I want you to quit being a whiny little bitch but it is your right to be one. The difference between me and you is that when you get pissed you will lay a hand on me. At this point, you have assaulted me, and at this point, I pull my gun and blow parts of you everywhere. Now being in the great state of Oklahoma, they will shake my hand and send me on my way. We call that assault and I can protect myself from an assault from some smartass kid. Now you don’t like this because you will loose. So you just stay in you little part of the country and cry to your mommy sitting there next to you paying for you bills because you are a worthless piece of crap and you just deserve it. Because we know life is so tuff for you. Don’t infringe on my rights and I won’t infringe on yours. Let me check, um ,um yep right here can have firearm to protect me from enemies foreign or domestic. I guess you missed that part of the constitution? You have the right for free speech and so do I. So please sit behind your keyboard and be that big man that your mommy keeps telling you that you are (she is really trying to get you to move out) and you can still get your “legal drugs” from the Dr. on your mommy’s insurance. Well until your 26 anyway.

When the left runs the school system, are we surprised that an this isn’t an example ready to be made? No one ever holds the purpertrator responsible. Just a poor misguided individual using those awful guns.
We are at war with criminals killing unarmed people and without a deterent sufficient enough to prevent their slaughter. The only response possible is armed intervention. Isn’t this what we’re hoping for when the cops eventually show up? But to be ready before the carnage begins is somehow unthinkable. It seems the left always needs a token victim before it’s acceptable to respond in kind. The difference between a ready response or just the cops showing up can be a bunch of dead kids or a dead shooter.

  • Sepp W June 14, 2019, 3:54 pm

I know people have convictions and protest their own ways, but I advise against doing stuff like this, no matter how safe, competent, or passionate. America is a different place and right now public opinion is dominated by emotional, irrational, and illogical snowflakes, radical liberals, anti-gunners, and massive media outlet that pushes the liberal agenda, while silencing conservative dissent and debate.

Hogg doesn’t cite anything to back up his claim and contradicts the CDCs own reports. Not true, unless he can cite source. He was likely fed the data by some anti-gun group that specializes in manufacturing facts and faux statistics to get the incapable and unproductive spun up in frenzy and start screaming for more gun control!

  • Kenny Smith June 14, 2019, 3:19 pm

It appears this school doesn’t want Americans working at their school. This man seems to be an everyday patriotic American . The anti-gun idiots are getting worse. Most of them are ignorant when it comes to guns and ignorance is no excuse says the law. If these morons would educate themselves about guns before blabbering nonsense maybe things would be a little bit different !

David Hogg is a useful tool of the DNC and Gun Control Lobbyists. H is being paid, and paid well for delivering all of his pre-written speeches.

  • Don Richardson June 14, 2019, 1:25 pm

These anti-constitution folks like Hogg boy and whoever runs that school must not be allowed to ruin our country by taking away peoples’ constitutional rights and their capability to defend themselves. The fact that way too many people are too ignorant to understand the misdirection and outright lies involved is largely the fault of schools indoctrinating students in politically correctness and leftist propaganda instead of teaching history and logic. We need to change our schools and get back to actually educating our children. Having the results of U.S. schools be 37th in the world is pretty sad and will have serious consequences.

  • D.J. June 14, 2019, 1:22 pm

  • Lee Lemon June 14, 2019, 11:42 am

There needs to be a law that employers cannot fire you for practicing anything in the bill of rights, especially government agencies. There also needs to be a law that anyone who runs on the campaign of infringing anything in the bill of rights’ has their ability to hold office rescinded.

You will never stop evil. If they can’t find a firearm they will use a knife or an auto or a board. The true evil are those like Hogg who want to take away our right to defend ourselves. If he wants to blame someone, try the shooter at Parkland or the Coward of Broward who refused to do his job and stop the shooter

  • James Wilson June 14, 2019, 8:27 am

David Hogg states he was not at school at the time the shooting started, but was at home and he grabbed his camera and jumped on his bike and rode 3 miles as fast as he could……hmmm. How much time before he knew the shooting was taking place, and how long did it take him to gather his stuff and get there? The shooting lasted at most 7 minutes according to the timeline, so within this timeframe he heard of the shooting, got his camera, rode his bike 3 miles, entered a school that was on lockdown and was interviewing students, Bull Shit!!! How did he get on CNN and knew who the shooter was and all the details within minutes of the shooting? How come he knew not to be at school on that particular day? What else does this little twerp know and is keeping quite about.

Davie’s dad is a “retired” FBI agent. I’m interested in WHY he kept Davie home that day. It’s common knowledge that the police, the school, and the FBI knew the kid was a bomb waiting to explode. I suspect that Davie’s “retired” FBI daddy had some iniformation, and didn’t want little Davie to get hurt. Screw the rest of the kids. He had to protect little Davie.

  • borecrazy June 14, 2019, 4:29 am

I doubt Hogg’s statistic about the 2nd most cause of death for young people. Subtract the gang bangers, suicides, and accidents and the figure will be drastically reduced! Same old game the anti-gunners always rely on-misconception, and untruths with details left out! Like the statistic that some exaggerated figure of our children are being needlessly slaughtered by the same guns militaries all over the World use, and that anyone can buy! They ARE NOT THE SAME GUNS the military uses, ANYONE CANNOT JUST BUY ONE in most states, there is a process and a background check that must be done, and a waiting period before the gun becomes legally owned. AND-there was the fact that those numbers of “children” were skewed by adding 18 year old gang members to the total! Unnecessary gun deaths are a tragic occurrence, of course, and a very emotional issue, but must people like Hogg lie and juggle the figures to get their way? Every day lives are saved or violence stopped by firearms also-

  • Will Drider June 13, 2019, 11:42 pm

So if you don’t agree with the issue of funding gun violence researce (opinion matches Fed Law) and voice that with pictures of adult and supervised youth with firearms: YOUR EXERCISE OF THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH gets you penalized?

Pure horse shit! While anti gun asshats strive to eliminate 2A firearm Rights, they also try to silence or penalize your 1A Rights to eliminate oppisition.

This kind of oppression is not what AMERICA is supposed to embrace. How far society has fallen.

  • Jaque June 13, 2019, 9:26 pm
