SCCY Firearms announced this week the all-new DVG-1 and DVG-1RD pistols for 2020.

A departure from the Florida-based company’s bread and butter (CCW hammer guns), the DVG-1 and DVG1RD are striker-fired pistols sporting a 10+1 round capacity.

Chambered for 9mm Luger, equipped with front slide serrations, and featuring a frame that falls within the subcompact realm, these handguns are purpose-built for concealed carry.

Specs

  • Caliber: 9mm
  • Height: 5.06”
  • Length: 6.01”
  • Width: 1”
  • Weight: 15.5 oz
  • Barrel: Quadlock
  • Barrel Length: 3.1”
  • Barrel Twist: 1:16 Righthand
  • Trigger Pull: 5.5 lbs
  • Capacity: 10+1
  • Coating: H&M Black Nitride

What differentiates the DVG-1 from the RD model is the latter comes equipped with a Crimson Trace CTS-1500 red dot optic.  Backed by a 3-year warranty, the CTS-1500 has a battery life over 20,000 hours and a 3.5MOA round aiming dot.

SCCY brags about the pistols’ flat triggers, suggesting that beyond its “aggressive appearance,” it can provide “shooters additional leverage making the already-light 5.5lb trigger pull even smoother.”

Arguably the biggest selling point is the MSRPs of the DVG Series.  Keeping in line with the company’s core ethos, which is to provide concealed carry options for the working man, the DVG-1 will list for $289 MSRP and the DVG-1RD will list for $389 MSRP.

As is the case with most of SCCY’s products, in-store and online prices will likely be lower.  Which means prospective buyers will be able to score a 10+1 round carry gun, equipped with a CT red dot, for well under $400!!!

Shipping for the DVG series will begin in Q1 2020, according to the press release.  Perhaps, they’re already on their way to dealers as I write this.

With SHOT Show 2020 right around the corner, we’re anxious to get our hands on the DVG-1 RD.  Presumably, SCCY will have them out for testing at Media Day at the Range. So, stay tuned for our range report.

How many mags come with the DVG-1RD?

  • Robert Falls January 13, 2020, 12:00 pm

Quick note for me. I bought the one W/O the safety last year. Me personally b4 I’ll carry a concealed carry weapon I typically shoot a minimum of 500 rounds thru you! And I try desperately to use the weapon properly with whatever different giggets it has. I wound up shooting almost 829shots to tune it to the laser at 20 yards & I had a hard time with the trigger as the only pistol that I had with this type of trigger was the kel-tec 380, pf-9 & pf-11 which is the 9 also. I have carried the pf-9 for about 4years with a crimson trace laser I put on. The most compact 9 mm I have ever known but a 7 + 1 which isn’t much. So much for a quick message. The SCCY is one of the best pistols I have known after I got where I could use the trigger, paying just $249.00at a pawn shop that was also a discount gun store. Reliable, very accurate out to abt 30 yards, comfortable in my medium sized hand and rugged, very rugged. Thnxs 4 reading my book, this gun just might be 4 U. Get 1 n ur hand & if it’s a good feel…. buy it. Now that they have the red Dot I’m looking for 1 myself and trade this 1 n. Stop…

I’m a huge fan of the Sccy CPX-1 & 2 series of pistols. I like the capacity, size and price point. Not a huge fan of the trigger, but I’ve adapted to using it. I’m also a self-proclaimed Glock fanboy. I’m excited for this DVG line as it will be roughly the same size/capacity as the Glock 26, but at price point that is roughly half as much with a comparable trigger pull. I’d be curious if the DVG series uses the same magazines as the CPX 9mm models. If so, buying one would be a no-brainer!

I picked one of these up a few years after they first came out in 9mm. I liked it, yet I wrote them that it would make a better 380, and I will guess about 7 years later they came out in 380. The 9mm was a decent gun, and I am use to light weight 357mag wheel guns so it was semi pleasant to shot. I gave it to a friend that needed to get out and shoot, and get some excitement into his life. Course I am Old School and mine had a Safety. Now here is my take, if I am in a hurry to re-holster my semi auto a Safety allows me to do so with no big worry, and once it is in my holster if I want I can Turn The Safety Off until the next time I need it. Now don’t try with with any 1911 style trigger. Of course way to many of u youngsters don’t want no safety at all…………… Thus you would never fit in the USA Military Manual of Arms.

For those of us who were drafted that was a long time ago. Guns with safeties are difficult to operate with old, crippled hands. My FNS 9 stays loaded with an empty chamber. My left hand is too week to grip the slide to rack it. I must hold it in my left hand a work it with my right. I would then have to take off the safety with my right hand before I transfer it to hold it in firing position wirth my right. I can’t reach it with my right thumb. Try to do that in a stressful situation in the dark, ah, no. The trigger interlock will have to do.

Get a nice S&W revolver – I did for my wife – A much simpler life!

Most striker fired pistols are reliable, if this is no exception, looks like a good deal. 10+ is where it shines, but many are coming up with similar pistols. ……Think Hellcat.

    • Willy June 8, 2020, 6:29 pm

The Hellcat is nearly twice as much $$, and it has two different capacity magazines, which is a dumb idea.
