Movie Stars Michael Douglas, Alec Baldwin Push Anti-NRA Documentary

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors Columns Current Events S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Movie stars Michael Douglas and Alec Baldwin have put their support behind a new, anti-NRA documentary titled, “Making A Killing: Guns, Greed And The NRA.”  I think they’re trying to build up “Oscar buzz” for it.

You can see the trailer for the film below.

Quick question, haven’t we already seen something like this before?  (Remember Katie Couric’s “Under the Gun,” and what an epic fail it was?  Yeah, she’s now getting sued for defamation by the gun rights activists she misrepresented in the doc.)

It sounds like the same old, same old NRA hit-piece. Now, I haven’t watched the documentary, but I’m pretty sure I can boil down the gist: The NRA is evil. Guns are killing machines. Our only hope to stop the merchants of death at the NRA and the maundering of innocent lives is more “gun safety legislation.”

Yup. Undoubtedly, that’s what this documentary is all about.

What’s funny is all the stuff that they probably don’t share in the documentary. First, the majority of donations to the NRA come from its five million members. In other words, the NRA isn’t a group of fat cat oligarchs pushing an elitist agenda that benefits only a select few, but rather an organization of dedicated individuals that are doing what they can to protect the interests of all their constituents, which is to say the more than 100 million gun owners in America.

That’s right, the NRA has five million benefactors but over 100 million beneficiaries.  Can you think of another organization that does so much for so many so effectively?  I can’t.

Next, those “killing machines” are indeed deadly weapons. However, that’s the point of them. We want our tools for self-defense to be maximally effective. Why? Because they are all we, the common man, have to defend ourselves from the various faces of evil in the world.

It’s funny, anti-gunners are more often than not selectively anti-gun. Put another way, it’s a classic case of guns for me but not for thee. Anti-gunners are fine when police carry firearms or when Hillary Clinton uses armed guards while out on the campaign trail, but when you or I want to carry discreetly on the streets to protect ourselves and our loved ones, they wig out.

They never seem to imagine a scenario where we’re both in a mall or a supermarket and a madman with a knife or a gun starts slaughtering patrons. I wonder in such a situation if they would still prefer us not to be armed. I wonder if they’d still prefer us to be unable to eliminate the threat. I wonder if they’d still prefer us to be incapable of saving their life and that of their son or daughter.  I wonder…

Lastly, I’m positive that the documentary didn’t discuss the inefficacy of so-called “gun safety legislation.” The Clinton-era ban on “assault weapons” was an epic fail. In fact, after it expired in 2004, crime continued to drop, leading any honest criminologist or statistician to conclude that banning black rifles had no effect on crime rates. That’s a really hard pill for gun-grabbers to swallow. And I doubt they touch on it in the film.

Background checks. The highly vaunted background checks. Indubitably this issue is raised in the documentary. The NRA opposes background checks! That’s true, in part. What they don’t tell you is that the NRA actually supports background checks between gun dealers and prospective buyers. What the NRA opposes is criminalizing private transfers.  There’s a big difference between the two positions.

For instance, if I want to sell a firearm to my cousin, should I have to go to an FFL, pay a fee to the FFL so that the FFL can run a background check on my cousin?  The NRA says no. What if I want to gift a gun to a friend for Christmas? Shall I also have to go through the same background check process?  The NRA says no.  And I agree.

With that said, and to be candid, if all anti-gunners wanted were universal background checks, the NRA would probably strike a deal. But the reality is that background checks are just the tip of the iceberg. Background checks are where it starts. The endgame, as the NRA is keenly aware, is complete civil disarmament. So, from the NRA’s standpoint, why give up an inch when you know your adversary plans on taking a mile?

For skeptics who believe that complete civil disarmament is overstating the goal of anti-gunners, just look at the new gun laws in California, New York and Connecticut, where many commonly owned and widely popular firearms and accessories are now illegal. And gun-grabbers there, they are still not satisfied!  This is the path that gun-grabbers will continue to lead us down knowing full well that it will do nothing to reduce crime but everything to eliminate the rights of law-abiding gun owners.  They’re not going to mention that in the film, but that’s the truth.

Both of these idiots are extreme Narccisists……who cares what they think or say?!

  • Bill W October 21, 2018, 1:24 pm

Gifting should require the recipients background check. Here’s an idea. You want to gift someone a handgun? Give them a gift card or similar or take them…then the person whom will own the gun gets checked, not you.

I new baldwin was a brainless puppit for the holliweird mob but did not know douglas was too, well……more movies to ban from my “to see” list plus several more cd’s to dump in the trash.

Just another couple of misguided liberals telling lies….

  • David Keith October 24, 2016, 2:53 am

Big surprise on these two actors who are more like sheep. All in lock step with the rest of the flock. It’s not impressive. They seem like spineless cowards who don’t have any courage to have an independent thought. Few Charlton Hestons these days.

  • Lou Fisher October 21, 2016, 5:47 pm

All these actors are just liars who repeat lines written for them – Who are they?? – Some face you recognize?? – Just liars and my personal take is that they should just keep their collective lying mouths shut!

  • John Champion October 21, 2016, 3:38 pm

I WILL TAKE A STAND!!! I WILL BOYCOTT ANY AND ALL M. DOUGLAS OR A. BALDWIN MOVIES OR ANYTHING DONE BE EITHER OF YOU…LIFE IS NOT A MOVIE BOYS, YOU DON’T GET TO CONTROL ANYTHING BUT YOURSELVES (OR THE IDIOTS THAT THINK HOLLYWOOD IS REALITY) !!!

Two more leftist punks. One with a desire for fishy cuisine & the other with real anger issues. I don’t think we can learn much from either of them.
    Trump/Pence 2016

  • Phil October 21, 2016, 1:53 pm

Looks like we should make a video for our guns like the one made for elections… “Thank you famous Actors for explaining how I should vote”. If you haven’t seen it, it’s pretty good.

  • russ October 21, 2016, 12:39 pm

Baldwins father was a teacher in the school district where I worked ( Massapequa) and his father was the Rifle Team coach…way back when…..guess his father is turning in his grave with pride for this arrogant know it all, who screwed up his whole life as an actor and has to resort to “B” comedy acts

  • Ralph October 21, 2016, 12:33 pm

It amazes me that anyone would think that these people who make believe that they are someone or something they are not would be the source for critical thought. They live in a fairy tale world that is void of reality. I guess after playing characters that were scripted to have super intelligence, politically powerful, physically superior, they actually believe they have these attributes. One thing is sure, I wouldn’t give these members of the Hollywood pimps and prostitutes crowd a penny so that they can spit in the face of my freedoms.

  • Charlie October 21, 2016, 11:48 am

If these fools had their way gun owners would be disarmed and would be marching toward the smoke stacks and they would be the guards Take a look at the countries under Hitler in WW2. Guns made this country free and guns will keep it free. In spite of the Democrats. Organized crime now renamed,”The Clinton Foundation”. The father of which is our impeached national pervert.Guns are needed by the people to protect our children and families against this kind of evil. Look at a great deal of Hollywood people .There lives as moral people stinks. You think they are qualified to dictate to you? Not Me. I will not support these fools.Made millions off violence .They are self serving people and you are not in their consideration. Most all will lie and deceive you with out blinking an eye.

  • Brian Bowen October 21, 2016, 11:13 am

How can someone (Baldwin) credited with a Domestic Violence offense even be allowed to publically discuss an opinion on something he cannot lawfully possess? Then again, how can a criminal run for President; guess I answered my own rhetorical question.

    • Russ October 21, 2016, 2:04 pm

The reason these two shills get away with it and their pasts are ignored is because they are toting the liberals web of lies. Both of these has beens have bad things in their and their families pasts. The liberal media does not care, tote our line of crap on guns and we will give you unabated air time. The revolution can’t start soon enough.

  • Fb October 21, 2016, 11:05 am

Honestly, there needs to be a huge campaign against these Hollywood hypocrites by not watching their movies, tv shows and buying products they’re involved with.
Millions of gun owners participating can economically shut them up.

    • Russ October 21, 2016, 2:06 pm

Agreed, I have not purposely watched anything these two has beens have been involved in for years. They spread lies that the sheep believe. They are pathetic wastes of flesh, both of them.

    • David Keith October 24, 2016, 2:57 am

I’ve stopped watching movies and football games. It’s not that hard to do.

  • dava golino October 21, 2016, 10:57 am

stop watching their movies. do not buy products they endorse. same goes for the over paid sports people who disrespect the flag. they all need to swing from a tree

  • Patriot October 21, 2016, 10:29 am

Both Michael Douglas and Alex Baldwin are typical GUN CONTROL IDIOTS. They definitely belong in California with Gov. Brown, PELOSI, Feinstein and Boxer and the people that elect the GUN GRABBERS. Have you noticed that ROTTEN TO THE CORE HILLARY is now lieing much more than usual and says that she does not have a problem with the Second Amendment. Of course, she still believes the U.S. Supreme Court made the wrong decision about the Second Amendment we have had for more than 200 years. Some things never change !!!

VOTE FOR TRUMP AND REPUBLICANS !!!!

  • Michael Keim October 21, 2016, 10:10 am

I sat up an watched my guns last night. None of them killed anyone. In fact none of them have killed anyone since I’ve owned them. As far as these 2 geniuses go, one of them reportedly used his ex wife for a punching bag and the other explained his philandering as a sex addiction. They are both a pair of phoney hacks.

  • ICU81 October 21, 2016, 9:09 am

I am with all of you who are offended with these jackasses and will not support any of them with any of my money. We can also include that self-righteous liberal idiot Leonardo de Caprio.

    • Tom Horn October 21, 2016, 10:17 am

Right on! Don’t bother watching Dicaprio’s, Revenat. Should of been called, Regret-fullness. Read the book instead. The POS movie does not follow the real story of Hugh Glass at all. About as real as, Duncing With Wolves.

  • Voice of Reality October 21, 2016, 9:00 am

As I remember these yo yo’s make money with films misusing guns.. Hypocrites for sure.

  • Allen Christian October 21, 2016, 8:55 am

PS, When I hear some STUPID person say guns kill people I think to myself, my guns are locked up and they never went out and killed anyone ! Guns don’t kill anyone, people kill people stupid, what part of this don’t you understand ?? And to think these
    idiots are allowed to vote.

  • Allen Christian October 21, 2016, 8:47 am

I came from a large family back in Ohio, seven brothers and four sisters. My dad was a WWI vet and and all seven of us are vets, I
am sorry to hear these two hollywood play/actors are anti Second Amendment crumbums just like hillery and billery, I guess they don’t don’t like us Military people either. Well I don’t give a damn about them either and if we knew about their assinine contempt
for The Bill of Rights they would still be flippin hamburgers. They spend their whole life trying to be someone else and now we finally know who they really are ! My family will never look at another movie with these phoney play/actors in it. I think we should vet these prople when they decide to become play/actors. If they don’t respect The US Constitution and The Bill of Rights I suggest they move to a country where it does not exist!

  • William Taylor October 21, 2016, 8:30 am

This is nothing new for Baldwin. He’s been on the wrong side of the fence for years. Not sure about Douglas…….. Doesn’t matter, really, both are now firmly on my “Do Not Support” list, along with Liam Neeson, Matt Damon and a number of other worn out actors.

  • Dan October 21, 2016, 7:12 am

Another two Hollywood types that wan’t get another dime of mine! All mighty Dollar drives the train!

  • Tom Horn October 21, 2016, 7:05 am

Perhaps a side note, but important NEED TO KNOW info on your, Right to Bear Arms:

I purchased, Evan F Nappen’s, excellent book, Knife Laws of the US, last week as I was planning a trip to Wisconsin and wanted to know what knife was legal to carry. Turns out, WI’s knife laws are so stupid, you cannot conceal carry a simple folding pocket knife, as it is considered a dangerous weapon. Found the same laws in a recent trip to Ohio.

I purchased my first knife with money earned from doing chores for neighbors when I was 6 yrs old, before I went to Summer Camp. I have been carrying and using the simple tool (a knife) ever since, without harming, maiming, or killing another human being. When we cannot be trusted to carry a simple pocket knife, is there any hope left for our Second Amendment Rights?

I am more than willing to bet that there are more people violating knife laws in this Country, than there were folks drinking alcohol illegally during Prohibition. What the hell is wrong with this Country?

See sample of, Knife Laws of the US, here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016R62M4M/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1#reader_B016R62M4M

    • Tom Horn October 21, 2016, 10:42 am

Guess I can kinda see where the liberals are coming from. You never know when a toddler is going to crawl up in your lap, grab your pocket knife, and go on a killing rampage.

  • DASO October 21, 2016, 6:36 am

All these Hollywood hypocrites should give back every dime they made by making money on films or TV shows where they used a “gun”. Matt Damon can start first.Any firearm that we cant own the secret service shouldnt be able to use either after all a title doesnt make Hillary or Bloombergs lives more important than anyone else’.

  • Tom Horn October 21, 2016, 6:06 am

Again, I will say, it is past time to get an informative and entertaining, “Truth About Your 2A Rights” documentary out to the brain-washed American Public, before it is too, late. With many Americans forming their opinions based on what pinhead entertainers tell them, it may be the only way to reach them.

  • Christian October 20, 2016, 3:38 am

I believe that these trailers, yes, I was masochistic and watched all three of them, must be the biggest load of crap I have ever seen on a screen, plus that political correctness spitting Star Wars Episode 7 movie, to be fair.

I didn’t know if I should have laughed when they showed these happy families on their tables and stating that they would be so more safe without guns. Now, what if a bad guy goes into their house or maybe even a group of armed robbers, armed not with guns but with knifes, crowbars and all the typical housebreaking stuff? What do they wish for then if the average police respond time is 11 minutes, if anyone of these families ever shall make it to the phone in time? I guess the time of being a happy and safe family will end abruptly in such a gun-free world. But I am not surprised by this. Only “leftist” (real leftists know how to fight and that guns are needed for self-defense, for example the Vietcong knew this very well) democratic crackheads can believe this stuff, until the day they will become the victims of their own agenda and suddenly wish for a gun but then it will be too late.

I encourage Mr. Douglas to come to Europe and walk through some nice places at night where guns are not allowed and everybody is a victim, such as Berlin-Neukölln or Duisburg-Marxloh, Germany or one of the outer areas of Paris, France. And if he doesn’t want to spend the millions of Dollars which he got in his pocket, while blaming the NRA for having money in a country where free enterprise is fully allowed, to fly to Europe, then I am sure he will have some fun in one of the gun-free zones in the states as well, Chicago for example, the hometown of anti-gun president Mr. “Yes we can”.

Looking at this strategically, you should not wonder, that just around 2.5 weeks before the presidential elections such a movie comes out. Hell, the big liar Michael Moore also just presented a new movie, the name is “Trumpland”. By the way, I never saw Bowling for Columbine, one of his movies, but I know that Moore stated in this movie that Eric and Dylan went to bowling class on the day of the massacre. It was a pure lie, you can read it in the official Columbine report (free to download for everybody to see) that they never showed up for their bowling class on that day, although it was scheduled. So, can you trust liars like this, that suddenly come out with such crap, very close to the presidential elections? Of course not.

By the way, I do believe that all these tears and emotions they showed in the trailers were nothing but FAKED and ACTED! It is just too dramatical what I saw there to believe this crap. Take a group of random people, give them some pictures of random people in their hands and then allow them to say something purely invented. I saw the movie “13 Families: Life after Columbine” and you cannot see the parents of these victims behaving like this. You see some sadness of course but not as theatrical as in the trailers of “Making A Killing”. That is why I say that it is all just staged in my belief because I saw real emotions of real families that really lost their loved ones. And I got that movie on DVD, so I could proof this to anyone who wants.

It’s also nice to see that they are still using the number of 33,000 gun deaths but still hide the fact that most of them are PLAIN SUICIDES caused by depression, bullying, mobbing, social anxiety, mental illness and pure desperation in our sick world! Get this into your minds Michael Douglas, Alec Baldwin and the producers and supporters of that movie, as well as all the people that sign up for that crap on its website! Get these FACTS into your heads before blaming guns and the NRA! And by the way, it is also disgusting by putting children numerous times in front of the camera again, just to open the hearts of some whiney democrats and try to convince people for this stupid political agenda. So many organizations do this also if they want the people to spend money again for false charity, oh how much I hate this!

You know, chemicals in food can also kill people. Maybe not rapidly like guns but silently due an amount of time by producing cancer and other diseases, caused by all the trash we can buy in the supermarkets worldwide, so why they don’t blame food manufacture giants like Monsanto that make the real big money? Or what about the car and truck companies that make billions every year? Since that massacre in Marseille, they could make a movie that could be named “Making A Killing – Trucks, Greed and MAN”. Or what about “Making A Killing – Planes, Greed and Germanwings”? Or what about “Making A Killing – Gun free zones, Greed and Democrats”?

I hope not too many people will fall into this crap. I personally have just seen those trailers, as I already stated, and I do refuse to watch the full movie. I have much better things to do with my precious time, than watching this pure Goebbels-propaganda!

    • Jackpine October 21, 2016, 6:54 am

Correct, 60% of the 33K gun deaths are suicides, leaving ~11,000 homicides. Compare that to the 440,000 hospital-caused deaths. Why don’t they make a movie about that?
      http://www.hospitalsafetyscore.org/newsroom/display/hospitalerrors-thirdleading-causeofdeathinus-improvementstooslow

      • Christian October 21, 2016, 8:42 am

Hello, I was shocked when you gave the link and this horrible number! 440,000 people that die in hospitals silently and without public notice, although these deaths could have even been prevented! This is absolute hypocrisy by blaming guns for everything and doing such a huge propaganda against them, while allowing a much bigger number of people to die in places where they should be considered as safe and well cared! This must be a kind of a silent genocide, isn’t it? I know that doctors and nurses are having a lot in their hands every single day and most of them truly do a great job but this number remains completely unacceptable.

And yes, they should make a movie about that, or better, organize huge demonstrations with thousands of people against that, instead of blaming guns all day long for what are mostly plain suicides, that could have been prevented with better mental healthcare and anti-bullying actions at schools and workplaces. And they also could make a movie against the many abortions that take place every day, even if there is no life-threatening situation for the mother or the child but they just abort them for their own good because they “cannot live with the situation”. Have they never heard about pregnancy prevention in the first place? So many ridiculous things that are going on!

By the way, I took all my heart and soul and entered the website of the movie as a test and saw the list of partners these movie makers have. One of them is Amnesty International. Well, they surely couldn’t find better anti-gun hypocrites than these, so I wasn’t surprised that they are partners.

  • Will Drider October 20, 2016, 1:46 am

If the Hollywood and TV hypocrites hate guns, violence murder and lawful commerce: THEY NEED TO STOP USING THEM IN THEIR MOVIES AND SHOWS. Show your Hollywood/TV hotshot support: Boycott and Strike, set the example and don’t participate or profit. ZERO TOLERANCE!

    All takers sign on!

With you 100%! I will never watch another Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), Liam Neeson, Michael Douglas, or Alec Baldwin film as long as I live.
