Navy Pulls 3 Medals From Chris Kyle’s Record Following Investigation

Authors Current Events Military S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Following an investigation, the Navy removed three medals from famed SEAL Sniper Chris Kyle’s official military record, including one Silver Star and two Bronze Stars.

“After thoroughly reviewing all available records, the Navy determined an error was made in the issuance of Chief Petty Officer Chris Kyle’s form DD214,” Navy spokesman Ensign Marc Rockwellpate said in a statement to USA Today.

“Specifically, the DD214 did not accurately reflect the decorations and awards to which Kyle was officially entitled. After notifying his family of the error, the Navy issued a corrected copy of the DD214, which accurately reflects Kyle’s years of honorable and extraordinary Navy service.”

Investigators did not blame Kyle, who was tragically murdered in 2013 at a Texas gun range, for the clerical error.  There was no evidence that Kyle tampered with the document.  In fact, it appears that this is not the first time the Navy has had to make corrections.

“In 2015 alone the Navy corrected more than 3,800 DD-214s,” said Navy spokesman Ens. Marc Rockwellpate in an interview with the Navy Times.

Those close to Kyle defended his accomplishments during his service to our country.  Jim DeFelice, one of the co-authors of Kyle’s book, “American Sniper,” chalked up the error to sloppy record-keeping.

“In revising the discharge documents, the Navy is now admitting to sloppy record-keeping, either in 2009 or today,” DeFelice said in an email to the Navy Times. “However, I find it difficult to believe their records have become more complete in the years since the discharge papers were first issued.

“I don’t know who or what or why things got fouled up, but the bottom line is this: Chris saved countless lives on the battlefield, was awarded numerous medals for valor, and should have gotten even more,” he continued.

Kyle’s widow, Taya, did no comment on the decision to lower Chris’s medal count.

While many are quick to point out what Chris didn’t do during his service, perhaps we should take a look briefly at what his verified Silver Star citation says about his actions on the battlefield in 2006.

“Petty Officer Kyle’s heroic actions, professionalism and incredible sniper skills had tremendous impact in the success of U.S. and Iraqi Forces in routing the insurgency and seizing key areas of the City of Ar Ramadi, the epicenter of Al Qaeda and insurgent activity in Iraq,” the citation reads. “During 32 sniper overwatch missions, he personally accounted for 91 confirmed enemy fighters killed and dozens more probably killed or wounded.”

As a 100% disabled Army vet I am disgusted and dishonored by the negative comments from the USMC members whose bluster and bravado must be sated for the name of the Corps. The USMC mind wash can be seen in their comments to downgrade and demoralize the Kyle legacy. Marines die and bleed red just the same as all other Armed Forces members, try not to forget that the next time you pat yourselves on the back! Chris Kyle and his family deserve much better from his military family, ever you Marines!

  • Bushmaster0369 July 16, 2016, 12:32 am

It appears you only print positive comments about this person. I left mine and you do not post it! Why???

  • BUSHMASTER0369 July 16, 2016, 12:00 am

This may upset a few of KYLE’S supporters BUT it needs to be said. As a former Marine Sniper Instructor we didn’t and don’t need SEAL snipers to assist us. We are as good or better in our training, because we close with the enemy. KYLE latched on to the Marines by wanting to self-glorify himself. He probably did shoot because he wormed his way into a Marine outfit. WE THE MARINES, would not have asked for him because ours are just as good if not better. Any one that magnifies his accomplishments with false claims as KYLE and John Kerry (Vietnam) need to be brought up and made accountable. Yes, I am decorated and have three purple hearts and I was the second best metal winning rifle shot in the Marine Corps. I was also the Chief Marksmanship Instructor, Chief Primary MARKSMANSHIP INSTRUCTOR ON THE WEST COAST OF AMERICA, I HAVE THE CREDENTIALS TO CRITISIZE and I refuse any longer to call KYLE a HERO just to cover his self-glorifying when we see to many lies in his book, and oral accounts of his accomplishments. Better the truth instead of living a lie!

    • DC July 16, 2016, 8:54 am

What a DICK going to downgrade a dead man u should b ashamed of yourself but then again ” the few the proud ” are usually selfish like that

    • Methadras July 16, 2016, 2:43 pm

Going out of your way to denigrate another fellow soldier due to fealty to one branch of the military over the other as a function of who is better at being a sniper doesn’t bode well for your overall character. I can’t speak to Kyle’s truthfulness in aspects of his service, but I’m inclined to give the benefit of the doubt given his exemplary service and lives he’s saved in service to his country. How does having more hands on deck as an overwatch a bad thing? These kinds of territorial pissing matches need to end, but it begins with men like you not shitbirding other men’s service or what you believe is a spotty recollection of said service. Semper Fidelis.

    • Guy Smalley July 16, 2016, 8:10 pm

Bushmaster369 seems like your the one getting your tit in the ringer , why would you not want support from a sniper? Try being a team player who cares what you did just get back in line and follow your own advice

      • Dan F. July 18, 2016, 9:31 am

Bushmaster sounds like he’s actually around 14, spouting that much idiocy. Yes, there are other snipers in the world, and there’s no grown man I know who’s going to be so petty as to begrudge a guy like Chris Kyle his due. If he has a quarter of the resume he claims, he damn sure doesn’t represent his organization in such a way that they’d claim him. Most Marines I’ve known or served with are honorable men and would laugh at this jackass.

    • SGT-N July 18, 2016, 7:21 am

Typical Jarhead: the world revolves around the Corp and no other branch counts. As all people who have been in the military know, no one does anything without orders. To wit, CPO Kyle wasn’t even supposed to be in the AO, but he was transferred to Iraq when Delta was short of snipers. Last, I’ve always found it amazing that the person denigrating another’s military service on the net always claims a superior military record than the one attacked.

PS: By the way, does three “I forgot to duck” medals trump a Silver Star and four Bronze Stars for Valor? Just wondering.
PSS: I’ve tried to correct my DD Form 214 for almost three decades to add missing medals, but to no avail even though I have the requisite commendations. Am I a liar when REMF’s screwed up my paperwork?

    • Timothy Bunn May 14, 2018, 4:35 am

Aren’t we all on the same side here? Forget which branch a person served in. If a.m Army helicopter pilot picked up wounded marines, would you tell them, “no thank you, wer can take care of our own”. More unity and less criticism. By the way, spell check is available for free.

    • SSG Dixon June 24, 2019, 1:40 am

This pathetic Marine Sniper Instructor is only showing his jealousy and selfish dreams of being a hero himself when he is nothing but a self glorified shallow Marine. And you do disservice to the Marine Corps. With you pettiness and self important attitude. Get over yourself and pull your head out of your 4th point of contact Marine

  • Paladin July 15, 2016, 7:06 pm

So the Navy actually has time for this bullshit? What azzwipes. Ash Carter is a POS!

  • Gary July 15, 2016, 6:32 pm

I would almost bet money these stupid comments were either left by Bill M. or one or more of his paid Jerkoffs! Or, the little limie s**t from this week when ever!
THEY ALL love to come on here, and other sites, with fake names and stir it up when ever they can.
Simply REMOVE the post that we ALL know is PURE CRAP!!
Why?? What about the 1st amendment??
Pretty simple really kids. First off the Constitution means LESS than nothing to this walking dumpling! “He who tries to remove any PART of the Constitution should NEVER be PROTECTED by ANY PART of it!!” GH. You know..like THEY want to do with the second amendment! (And WILL if they get a president in there that will pick a Supreme Court Judge that will allow it! Which lets face it, is really the only reason many people are even going to show up to vote this year at all. Going by only what I have actually HEARD of course. If Obama had just picked a conservative justice to replace that GREAT MAN, then it would probably have been a walk in the park for Hillery!!
Why would he care? He is OUT anyway, and she could just do the standard and blame the last WHOEVER that was in office before her. like they ALL do! In fact if he did so now it would probably keep at least half of OUR side at home this November!)
You see, freedom of speech IS protected. In PUBLIC!! However, this is NOT public. (Unless the government is picking up the bill for THIS site, which I highly doubt.) This is a private place owned by Guns America.
If you doubt me at all, go to ANY public place, like a shopping mall, Walmart, Kmart, restaurant, gas station and just start YELLING out what ever comes into your mind! You WILL be arrested eventually. Why? Again, your on Private property!!
Sure, rent a concert hall like Bill dip s**t does for a “comedy” show and spout off any offensive crap you want to, and YOUR only option is TO LEAVE! (Like i did my subscription to HBO years ago!) Or, remember the Dixi Chicks? Same thing! (They whinned about being held responsible for what they said about us who support our troops.). You can say what ever you want in private! But WE have the RIGHT to NEVER listen to you again!!
Why? Because it’s PRIVATE! In fact you even PAID to be insulted in that kind of venue. For example I am SURE I don’t need to remind ANYONE that Bill called Chris a COWARD on national TV!! Of course the spineless POS would NEVER do so to his face!! As the ONLY power of HIS convictions is what he can BUY or PAY FOR, like his body guards..that ARE armed by the way!!
This is who I believe really wrote that piece of crap comment. Just as ALL of them on TV shows lick Hillary’s feet NOW. Those that would laugh and point fingers at her when she would claim in public that SHE was the only person in the country that DIDNT know her husband WAS having sex with “that woman!”) Now that she is running against trump, she is NOW a GOD to them! I am sure she is the ONLY god they have by the way!
Bottom line, if someone posts something that offends everyone HERE, then WHY would you ALLOW IT? Afraid you will lose their business?? I doubt it!! Perhaps you just like to see everyone on here get all wound up..? Who knows? But in reality all you are really doing is giving A**holes like this guy a sounding board to post CRAP that garbage like Bill M can use on his weekly show, and make everyone that watches it believe there are even MORE people like HIM around!
But, this IS YOUR PRIVATE SITE, so YOU are the ONLY person that can APPROVE what gets posted to it.
Just my two cents worth, but every time I see crap like this posted I BLAME the person that allows it to happen, as much as the ones that do it! Once or twice could be a mistake or just lousy judgement. But it SEEMS to me it is becoming a REGULAR thing these days. In fact if it had not had Chris’s name in it, I would have just ignored it. As I do MANY of your emails these days.
You are either on OUR side, or your not!! People on OUR side would NEVER post this kind of retarded crap just to get people to their site!
Post the News Story? Sure!! Post moronic comments against a national hero? NEVER!!
But then, that’s just my opinion. I doubt anyone else agrees with it anyway!!

    • BUSHMASTER0369 July 16, 2016, 12:11 am

Please let us know what you’re sniffing or drinking so we can all stay away from it. It sounds like you have crossed over and can’t find your way back!

The man served his country honorably, and died trying to help others.
He left behind a family that we, as a country, severely short-changed by commandeering the majority of his time to fight our battles for us. That family, like thousands of others, was owed that time back but never got it.
It seems like the very least we could do at this point, is to leave him and his poor family alone.
We obviously owe them so much more, but because of petty jealousy and political motives we, as a country, have acted poorly, to say the least.

To add to this comment, we who have served do not forget the shadows of those we killed. Nor do we forget why we did our jobs. Coming back was just as hard, and in some cases, worse(Vietnam), as what we endured. To come back and devalue a fellow service man over a metal, shows less honour to anyone who had to do their job. Any sniper, or grunt was faced with some form of death. Belittling his achievement after he’s dead provides no integrity to the many times he faced what he did because it was his job, and disrespects those who sacfriced their time with him. The men and women who served with the best of their ability, and have lost life, mental health , or limb deserve more respect than our squabbling.

  • Harold July 15, 2016, 4:31 pm

Wanna bet that T-Gender loving Ash Carter jerkoff with the cowardly non service CIC was behind this travesty. The man did so much and having see John Kerry’s bogus 2 P-hearts stand…well this really says something about the PC correcy coward desk jocks running the DOD nowadays. Hey, I’m a Vietnam vet and served Army for 13+years…I do know just how messed up the awards system is and more who likes you and write ya up for a medal than performance and bravery. We had a saying…give me ur medals and 10 cents and at least I can buy a cup o joe. Whole medal joke was a joke….we knew it. Bless his poor wife…She’s pro-gun, white and military spouse…all the things the CIC hates…is it any wonder…oh BTW…she is Christian…he don’t like them either.

OOH RAH to CPO Kyle, There are more scwew-ups than you care to count for combat duty. You will be recommended then the approval will come down from Battalion then Regiment, Then one will re-eval, and it gets sent back to division.Very lucky if the revised are even correct. He probably should have been awarded more if they check it again. What ever it is now makes no difference. What he was wearing on his chest when he was buried makes no difference to his maker and his wife.To her he was a father and husband. So “Fair Winds and Following Sea’s” to CPO Kyle. Respectfully with Honor, Capt. Jack Smith

  • Larry July 15, 2016, 10:51 am

There is nothing honorable or heroic about anything Chris Kyle did in Iraq. He defended no American’s freedoms. He didn’t fight “over there” so no American would have to fight “over here.” Soldiers who kill for the state in unjust wars are murderers, not heroes. As Future of Freedom Foundation president and Army veteran Jacob Hornberger recently wrote: “Since the U.S. government was the aggressor in the war on Iraq, that means that no U.S. soldier had the moral authority to kill even one single Iraqi. Every single soldier who killed an Iraqi or who even participated in the enterprise was guilty of murder in a moral, religious, and spiritual sense.”

Here is a simple test to determine whether a soldier is a murderer or a hero. There are only fifteen questions and only one of two responses is possible so you should be able to keep track of your answers.

    1. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and throws grenades at Americans. Hero or murderer?

    2. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and incinerates Americans with a flamethrower. Hero or murderer?

    3. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and blows up Americans with a land mine. Hero or murderer?

    4. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and blasts Americans to kingdom come with a tank. Hero or murderer?

    5. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and drops bombs on Americans. Hero or murderer?

    6. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and cuts Americans in half with a machine gun. Hero or murderer?

    7. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and launches missiles at Americans. Hero or murderer?

    8. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and shoots Americans with a pistol. Hero or murderer?

    9. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and maims Americans with mortar fire. Hero or murderer?

    10. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and fires rocket propelled grenades at Americans. Hero or murderer?

    11. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and shreds the flesh of Americans with cluster bombs. Hero or murderer?

    12. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and burns Americans to a crisp with napalm. Hero or murderer?

    13. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and destroys Americans with attack helicopters. Hero or murderer?

    14. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States and kills Americans as a sniper. Hero or murderer?

    15. A soldier from a country thousands of miles away travels to the United States via drone and performs targeted killings of Americans. Hero or murderer?

I don’t know of a single American who wouldn’t say, and say it fifteen times, that these foreign soldiers were murderers.

But why is it that when American soldiers do these things they are heroes but when foreign soldiers do them they are murderers?

Time for another test. Again, there are only fifteen questions and only one of two responses is possible so you should be able to keep track of your answers.

    1. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they wore a government-issued uniform?

    2. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they were just following orders?

    3. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they joined the military to serve their country?

    4. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they were patriotic?

    5. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because their government said America needed a regime change?

    6. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they joined the military because they couldn’t find a job?

    7. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they were just obeying their commander in chief?

    8. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they didn’t make their country’s foreign policy?

    9. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they were drafted?

    10. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because their government said there were communists in America?

    11. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they joined the military because their father had been in the military?

    12. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they just did what they were told?

    13. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because their government told them they were fighting a defense war?

    14. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because their politicians are the ones responsible for their actions?

    15. Should we excuse foreign soldiers because they thought they were defending the freedoms of civilians in their country?

Then why do we excuse American soldiers for these same reasons?

U.S. foreign policy is aggressive, reckless, belligerent, and meddling. We don’t need a foreign policy that strikes a balance. We don’t need a foreign policy that we can afford. We don’t need a foreign policy that is like Reagan’s. We don’t need a foreign policy that is less interventionist. We need a wholesale repudiation of the past century of an evil and murderous U.S. foreign policy.

Thank you and absolutely spot on. Too many are lost in the lie of American exceptionalism. While I love this country, the ideals that it now operates on are completely disgraceful. I am a proud educated gun owner who truly understands military history. Both sides of every conflict are funded by the countries that are tricked/forced to fight I’m them. Uncommon Valor among veterans does exist and what the boots on the ground go through is unimaginable. However, every cause has been unjust. The first casualty of war is what?? The Truth. All you who disagree have a right to do so, but clearly don’t have the knowledge of history. That’s ok as its not taught in schools or by the actual military. Read War is a Racket by Smedley Butler. In George Washington’s farewell address he discussed the peril of foreign entanglements. No message to future generations was more important and has been ignored more. Citizens beat the war drums these days more than our politicians. Please read these as well. We as a country need to be able to have intelligent conversations about the truth when our future sons are lied off to war.

Let’s see, now. To me, it would depend pretty much on whom the soldier from thousands of miles away killed as to whether he was a hero or not.

    • DC July 16, 2016, 9:39 am

Ok what if what’s going on over there happened here people getting killed all day every day because they didn’t follow who is doing the killing. Or countless children and women being killed all day every day for being in the wrong place at the rite time, people putting mines all over for our kids to step on and get blown up for walking down a road at the wrong time.. Then a soldier from thousands of miles away comes all the way here to help the helpless children women and even men that can’t defend themselves cuz *ssholes like u want to take everyone’s guns away but a soldier from thousands of miles away volunteers to come here and help people that he doesn’t know are they ” MURDERERS OR HEROES ” THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR SAYING BEFORE U OPEN YOUR DUMB *SS MOUTH U PRICK How dare u talk that way about sumone that goes “thousands of miles away” to help the helpless I just hope one of these days your the helpless one that needs help from an actual soldier and they sumhow recognise that your downing then and doesn’t help u at all but no wait that’s rite the soldier will help u because they are heroes not murderers like u say they are “HOW DARE U U WORTHLESS POS”

Larry you self loathing piece of crap traitor to this Nation. You are living proof that the best parts of your genes dripped down your mothers leg. You and all Americans owe each and every one of the freedoms you enjoy in this country to the brave men and women of the U. S. Military who go where they are needed. Even soul less morons like you who live in their mommys basement. You are a thankless stain on humanity. I know my comments will probably be deleted but I just had to say this about you. You and inbreds like you are responsible for the majority of problems plaguing America today, and your behavior has contributed to our downfall. You are a thankless puke and I can assure you would have never said one of these things to C. P. O. Kyles face. You truly are a frigging coward.

    • Guy Smalley July 16, 2016, 8:19 pm

Larry that red dot on your forehead is my laser sight

  • HonorthyBro July 15, 2016, 10:31 am

Last time I heard, if you didn’t let your guys down in the field you had honor. Anyone is a piece of S**t for talking about dead veterans without then here to defend themselves…

    • Red Raven 11 July 15, 2016, 6:58 pm

Airborne! We need a little more of that. Thanks, HTB.

  • Anea Forlorn July 15, 2016, 9:51 am

Little known fact: The DOD fills out the DD-form-214; Chris Kyle, or the soldier who’s “getting out”, does not. Any true vet with an understanding of this, knows that ONLY the Navy, under orders, (from political operatives being paid by Arab oil money) can change the official record which generates the DD-form-214. This is a “Lois Learner” version of shaming true American hero’s. None of the cowards who allowed Jesse’s sniping of Chris’ reputation; the murder of Chris (too tidy); the altering of Chris’ military record; are EVER going to get a 1000 vehicle funeral procession. These Learner types, can’t stand their obscurity and lack of real accomplishment, so they will lie, cheat, steal, and even kill (what happened to the members of ST6 isn’t just bad luck) to suck the life out of those who are their antithesis. Chris Kyle will always be an enigma in the minds of rich liberal power brokers wanting to overthrow a way of life that guards against an over reaching centralized government power glut. Long live freedom and the 2nd Amendment! God bless America, warts and all. God bless Chris and his family. I am sorry they walk around with a target on their back. Buy Chris’ book.

  • swisher July 15, 2016, 9:33 am

any one who comes back from a war zone is a hero regardless

  • Pontificant July 15, 2016, 9:27 am

I think, I’ll quote the felonious and yet arguably unhinged Hillary “The Water Buffalo” Clinton’s “What difference does it make?”

Chris Kyle was/is a hero and an inspiration to many of us, regardless of what some REMF does with a piece of paper, posthumously. And as rewriting history is a favorite past time of those who don’t actually make it, perhaps the folks that felt the need to make these changes, can go ahead and snap the end off a glass bottle and shove it up their keister, sideways.

  • ArtP July 15, 2016, 9:11 am

It is not what Kyle claimed, that makes it sound as though he took credit for something he didn’t deserve. It is what the Navy told him they were awarding him. He should get no discredit for believing them because, all these years later they can’t find the paperwork.

  • Mike July 15, 2016, 8:41 am

Maybe the DoD can focus on the war at hand, last I checked we still have boots on the ground.

  • Edward Wright July 15, 2016, 8:36 am

There are always those who vilify the hero, and show no thankfulness over their service. These same do not have a clue what it is like to be in combat, or see your fellow soldier killed by the enemy. The terrorists are about to bring bloody reminders to our shores, and then those who vilify the hero’s will pray for their presence.
When it is glaringly obvious we must return to Iraq, the liberal agenda will be silent, and wait for the hero’s to return to battle. Only waiting for the battle to wage, and preparing to call the hero’s villain’s again. This time will be different, this time the attacks will be different. We will not have Chris giving sniper overwatch to the troops, or to his neighbor’s We will all be less safe with out him. On the battle field, and at home. That what a hero is.

  • Pablo 1058 July 15, 2016, 8:34 am

Imagine living as a child and watching the evil bastards who killed your family for not following and supporting the Islamic Jihad, getting snuffed and sent into hiding because of some alleged infidel who knew how to snipe out the evil. Thank you Mr. Kyle for bringing justice and freedom, from those who live among evil everyday. Hero does not give you true justice of the glimpse of hope you have given. RIP may we all be humbled and grateful of his dedication and service.

I wish I could say I find it odd members of the media would make statements without even attempting to verify the facts. Even in this article, the box credited to John Bretschneider makes the whiney-ass liberal statement talking about “Kyle’s claimed medals” in two different places. Check your facts people!!! The form DD 214 issued to Chris Kyle had those medals and commendations listed on it. It is public record. You people need to get a clue and find out how the military works. You don’t just waltz in and “claim” medals when you are ready to get out of the service. When you separate, you are discharged and given your DD214 by the personnel command. All the information on the form has already been added by personnel. It’s not like you go in and some secretary asks you for the info as she’s filling the thing out so you can just make up things and claim to have won the medal of honor. Do mistakes happen? You bet military personnel command is notorious for screwing things up, but these media idiots make it sound like SOC Kyle plotted this all out and was trying to somehow scam someone. Chris didn’t claim ANYTHING. Someone in Navy personnel screwed the pooch and issued an incorrect DD214 and now, years after the man was murdered, a bunch of butt-hurt liberal school children are trying to make it look like he did something inappropriate, when that is not the case. Chris Kyle did not care about medals, Chris cared about his country and he cared about his brothers-in-arms. All this fuss probably would not have bothered him one little bit, because he demonstrated over & over agin in his life that he did not think the world revolved around him like all the reporter’s seem to. However, you all might want to be careful who you open your entitled, liberal mouths and make comments disparaging Chris Kyle around because there are a whole lot of people in different branches of the military who owe Chris Kyle our gratitude for the things he did & there are many who owe him their lives (& know it) so PLEASE . . . . . go ahead & run your mouth in front of some of those people instead of just being respectful and saying a prayer to thank God for putting people like Chris on earth to go do the things and face the threats that would have most of you who holler the loudest about him being an evil person huddled in a corner somewhere, thumb in your mouth and sitting in a puddle of your own piss, because I guarantee you, any one of us would be more than happy knock your silly ass out for badmouthing a brother in arms with this fine man’s reputation.

  • Sam England July 15, 2016, 7:16 am

My brother served with John Kerry…..He said John was the biggest coward that he had ever seen….every time gun fire would start John would find somewhere to hide and curl up into a ball…when John was found, he was in terrible condition..he was sweating and shaking terribly….This shows how people with money can get by with anything

    • USN EO3 March 9, 2019, 7:55 am

      hoorah well said !

  • Frederic July 15, 2016, 6:52 am

Looks like the Navy is following obama’s lead of rewriting history and lying to push an anti American agenda! Chris Kyle is a hero and i’m sure the original medals were the correct ones. I also believe he was murdered by government agents friendly to islam who used a covert muslim convert to murder an American hero! Just my opinion, Sir!

  • Buck July 15, 2016, 6:37 am

Leave him alone he is a hero. Buck 100% disabled Vietnam veteran

  • Rick Hawkins July 15, 2016, 5:02 am

Chris Kyle, is a True Hero and they may take medals but he doesn’t need a metal for the outstanding job he did to protect the troops which he took pride in being able to do so. Metals Don’t Make The Man He Was and He Was Proud To Serve Our Country…RIP CHRIS KYLE

  • Brian July 15, 2016, 4:44 am

Mark montague. You sir are a coward and a petty man of 0 significance. I generally ignore shitbirds like you but decided to sink near your level today.

  • Mike July 15, 2016, 4:37 am

So instead of the 21 medals he claimed, he really had 25………

  • notmeofficer July 15, 2016, 4:32 am

Mods…do we really need some wacky brained but job like mark posting up total garbage… commenting is fine…making up stories is not

I suggest cleaning up the record and removing mark Montague’s comments as those of a deranged person slandering a true hero…

    Disgusting…

  • KenK July 15, 2016, 3:44 am

May you rest in peace Chris Kyle.

  • SuperG July 12, 2016, 11:57 am

I find it kind of cowardly to remove medals from a dead man.

    • Justin Nielsen July 15, 2016, 4:01 am

      Agreed.

    • Roy Eskridge July 15, 2016, 7:58 am

It’s really terrible the things that they have done to Kris Kyle and his family since his passing! But, you can’t detract from a man’s heroism no matter who you are, and Kris was a hero! Our Government is a cowardly Government now days, and I’m not apologizing to a cowardly, nincompoop, terrorist that just happens to have lived in the White House for far too long! The man needs to go! Thanks!

  • Mark montague July 12, 2016, 9:50 am

Kyle is either a murderer or a liar. He either killed dozens of citizens during hurricane Katrina or he once again lied. There is no shuch thing as confirmed kill records are not kept. He has lied so much you will never know the truth

    • D Crawford July 13, 2016, 12:56 am

Mark , PLEASE put down the drugs .

    • James M July 14, 2016, 12:46 am

Chris Kyle is a name that will be in history for a long time. A soldier, veteran, father, friend, husband, and hero. I’m not going to mention your name. Because you will be forgotten. Are of no importance. Cowardly thing to do calling a dead man a liar.

      • Will July 15, 2016, 3:30 am

Chris Kyle was a lying piece of shit. It is no wonder he lied about his medals, he lied about everything else too. All these flag waving moronic Chris Kyle supporters are either uninformed or just don’t care that he was propaganda invented by the government to bring support for a growingly unpopular war. He was a good rifle shooter, he was also a dishonest liar who was so in love with himself he couldn’t tell the truth about anything and even defamed another Navy Seal just so he could get more notoriety. James M, this isn’t the place for writing a 3 year old eulogy about him, you idiot.

        • Mike July 15, 2016, 8:33 am

Pretty tough guy aren’t you with the guy in the ground – you must be one of the scum he would have been shooting at.

        • mario July 15, 2016, 8:54 am

spoken lie a true Liberal retard coward,,you Will,,are nothing but a sniveling coward who go hide as soon as gun fire starts, typical chicken shit the same as your lover Obozo.

    • SFC Vietnam Vet July 15, 2016, 3:13 am

Well, Mark, I notice there are no movies of your life, nor a chest of medals with your name on it. Don’t criticize or assail the character of a man whose boots you are not fit to shine.

    • KenK July 15, 2016, 3:43 am

Mark, you can’t even wish to be half the man Chris Kyle was. You’re merely part of the trash that this country needs to take out! There is a special little place in hell for scum like you.

    • Veritas July 15, 2016, 4:34 am

Hey Mark, who ties your shoelaces?

    • patriot2010 July 15, 2016, 6:33 am

Mark, you speak as a person that has full knowledge of what the true facts are, please inform all of us, what your military background and experience consist of. Have you been in combat? or are you still living in your parent’s basement??

  • Kimball Kelley July 12, 2016, 5:57 am

You know what, Chris is a true hero who saved countless lives. Taking away a ribbon or medal won’t change that. Please leave him alone, let him rest in peace, don’t try to tarnish his memory.

  • REM1875 July 11, 2016, 7:01 pm

The count I get is they pulled ten and awarded ten from viewing the ribbon rack.

  • REM1875 July 11, 2016, 6:52 pm

Still a real hero and still not shabby,
Now that they finished that maybe they should review john kerry’s (who spent 4 months In Viet Nam) records and awards and then maybe john mcrino’s self recommended awards ?

    • SFC Vietnam Vet July 15, 2016, 3:22 am

Rem1875, McCain spent time in the infamous Hanoi Hilton, had his arms ripped from their shoulder sockets, was beaten and stabbed by NV civilians on the way to the prison and endured many months of maltreatment at the hands
of the NVA. You may dislike what he’s done as a politician, but he served with honor in the most terrible conditions possible, a feat that I dare you to duplicate. His father was an admiral in the US Navy at the time he was , and he was offered his freedom by the NVA if he would sign a confession – he refused and the mistreatment and got worse. I’d say he was as heroic as any man can be expected to be.

Can you say the same? I doubt it.

      • FlyboyRon July 15, 2016, 4:18 pm

Agreed, sir. I don’t like some of what he’s done since Vietnam, but he certainly deserves our respect for what he did, and refused to do, over there.
That said, I’m still supporting the candidate who’s trying to finally unseat him, as I think he’s outlived his usefulness in the Senate… I can’t stand it when folks don’t know it’s time to quit.
